What Is Lie, And What Is Truth, In You Belief?

There is no way that you or anyone of us can determine this(what a lie is or what a fact is), beacuse no one never ever met a real vampire, all this may be just storys, tales for entertainment, how can you determine what is a lie here, if you never had a living example, so you can test it's propertyes??.......

All that you mentioned is mostly fun and fiction. However, the truth is far different from Hollywood and book stories.

This has been discussed in several other forum threads, I encourage you to take a look around. Read a lot and determine for yourself what is the truth and what is the lie.

Well, I can tell you for fact that most of the wards for vampyres are completely fictional. I personally love garlic on almost any food, I can wash my face in Holy Water, I can go to church and hold a cross. The only one that would certainly kill a vampyre would be the stake through the heart or decapitation; however, that would kill anyone.

Mircalla, I just have to ask... isn't it a pain to capitalize every word in every sentence? :)

All of these are not just Hollywood. Every vampyre legend has roots in various cultures in which they were started. Garlic wasn't supposed to KILL a vampyre, merely help prevent them from rising from the dead somehow. I've put the link to the wikipedia page on vampyres many time on various threads on VR, and am too lazy to o it AGAIN right now, so go look it up yourself. But case in point- all of these things are simply objects of lore- nothing more, nothing less. There is no REAL 'truth' or 'falseness' to any of these things.

I think the only one thing we can determin for sure out of your list is that a stake through a heart would kill a vampire, but as somebody else mentioned that would kill anybody. But most of what you hear vampires burn in holy water etc. is based on hollywood fiction.

define strange accent. I'm sure to most of the people on VR, my accent is strange, as i am one of just a handful of English members, and many members are American. i dare say someone from North America would consider the accent from the southern states to be a mite strange.

there are a few people from Eastern Europe on the site, who would obviously speak with East European accents - as we find in many vampire movies. as most vampire movies are inspired by Dracula, which is set in Eastern Europe, that has entered into the mythology.

"Strange accent" is about the only item which can be considered to be without foundation.

they are all lies..... people need to get fact from fiction ...... its all myths and all lies spruced up to be more alluring to those that will read it or watch it in the big screen..... come one people fiction is a myth and nothing they right about or is on the mivies is true..................

We can not say what is fiction and what is truth. The stake through the heart whould kill a mortal as well as a vampire.

-A vampire is just a predator. And humans happen to be the prey. And thats what they're affraid of. Not being the top of the food chain. Most of the hollywood and lore of how to kill a vampire wood kill just about anything, even humans.
-The sunlight has no effect however, it just happens to be easier to hunt at night.
-And religious symbols don't the protective power that most cling to.
-As for changing into a bat or wolf. That is a magic practiced by several cultures around the world. Not just Vampiers.

The shapeshifting can be fact, but not just practiced by vampires, as mentioned earlier. There are shamans in Siberia and Alaska who do it for tourist dollars. As for the garlic, I've known of vampires that use it in their cooking. I have little, if any regard for Hollywood anyway, as they almost never always portray the accuracy of certain situations, i.e. thumbs up vs. thumbs down in gladiatorial battles.

Anything through the heart is gonna kill you.human or vampire.I dont sleep in a coffin,i,m claustrophobic,the sun is a nightmare,sun glasses and sunblock are a must.garlic has no effect.crosses make me laugh.There are legends about shapeshifting,although ive never seen it.but turnin in to a bat.hollywood.

As stated anything that will kill a human will kill a vampire but the rest of the stuff is just legend and made up.

But to throw a curve ball in this discussion. Say a person believed they are a vampire and bought into the Hollywood stuff. If they believed hard enough could their own mind cause them to die if exposed to sunlight or fed garlic?

I know the mind is very powerful but I've wondered about something this far from the normal. Any ideals?

what about hawthorn? i love garlic, but it gives me terrible stomach pain and diarrhea. i'm not a vampire, but if i was a vampire, would i be able to eat garlic again? i think lies is a bit strong - elaborations and embroidering the facts would be a more fair term.

Mediterranean anemia is very close to vampirism. blood transfusions are needed. blood/rare meat cravings occour, there is a sensitivity to raw garlic (it burns really badly).

If no one has ever met a real Vampire then I guess that would mean that it is all a lie...But I think that most of us have met one...especially on here...I think it is really stupid to think that at least one would not be curious enough to check out the site.

There are a great many different things about vampires.

The ones that you have mentioned are the pure fiction of Hollywood.

There are many other features of vampire of different names, of myth and legend, from all around the planet, some mention changing into wildlife, blood drinking and so on - none are proven to have ever existed in fact

Some of the myths may have been started as pure entertainment, some of them as a way to keep people in line - so may have roots in fact but have been very distorted over time.

No matter what meaning you put on the word 'vampire' nothing can be proven

How can it be a lie if the "vampires" we are speaking of as possessing qualities that are false, came long before a bunch of people decided to adapt the term "vampire" for their own selfish purposes?

I strongly believe that the word vampire, as listed in the dictionary, has been around a hell of a lot longer than people who claim they are vampires now. Or even the version of vampire that is in the movies, and has been for some time.

you cant just hijack a word then expect to completely make it your own and wipe all original traces away. Or any traces of any form for that matter, it is a word of more than one meaning and there are very few people out there who will respect the fact that you call yourself a vampire, whether or not this be sad it is true.

And yeah, the "strange accent" thing was about the only thing without at LEAST "historical" basis.
