Do vampires have stronger emotions then 'Normal' people or are we just more aware of them? what do you guys/girls think?

I do.
Which is why i try to be nice to everyone.
I know happiness, pain, fear, and sorrow.

It is magnified times 10 for me, and i despise it..

It is my wish that no-one should feel the emotions that i do.

But to answer your question, my emotions are stronger then the average human.

yeah absolutely vampire emotions are stronger than humans..

I can't really speak for anyone else, vampire or other, but I used to feel at times that I could die of heartbreak or loss, and at other times the love I felt could conquer death itself. Well, I was wrong on both counts, but if I felt emotions any stronger I would surely explode.

With me, it's worse.;

I have my own magnified emotions, but as a telempath, (i can feel and sense the emotions of others) it's worse, esp. when i take on the emotions of others.

But why is it so magnified? Why is their such a difference between a Human emotion and a Vampire's?

Because our senses are keener then that of an ordinary human.


We can see better, hear better, and use our full 8 senses better. (can't remmeber what the last two senses were.;.)

the last two senses are taste and touch.. they senses are enhanced as well.

I agree with darkoflight. i think that sometiems i feel things a lot stronger than most ppl. but i am also very empathic.

Of course, there is no doubt about it, in every emotion it is stronger and more nehhance.

my emotions are very strong. It's what makes me fall in love quickly and it's what makes me hurt deeper and longer. I believe it's is because our senses are all exemplified. Fear is an emotion and fear is what keeps the hunter alive. So if fear is to be exemplified in vampires due to vampires being hunters, then so must love and hurt and anger.

No I do not believe that they do. I believe that from those that I have met, there are some that are empathic and others that are less empathic and have less emotion.

I think people like to think that they do, but I view this as nothing more than that most people who identify themselves as vampires are or learn to connect to emotions and energy. By doing this it appears that they have stronger emotions, but in fact they have merely strengthened a natural occurring sense.

Anyone who wants to train themselves can do this. Many healers have and continue to, some with more success than others. There are those that are naturally more gifted, just as some people are more physically gifted. I would not say that vampires in general are any different, just better trained.

I may not be a vampire, but my emotions and senses are strengthend. Almost all of my senses are uped and some are downed. I dunno why exactly, since I am not a vampire and have no special abilities.

Eldar, my question to you would then be- is this because you try to block them or enhanced them?

Another factor I did not bring up before was that people and animals when threatened have a heightened sense of ALL senses. So if a person is in what they perceive to be a stressful, abusive or dangerous situation they will also have the feeling of heightened emotions.

It's hard to compare. I mean that's like saying you know how strong a human feels things, but if your not human and your a vampire, then how can you.

Some people or vampires are empathic so they feel others feelings as well as their own. In that way I guess a vampire would feel things more. Otherwise until I have walked both paths, I don't see how I could compare them fairly.

My basic point is this:

Bottom line Vampires are human.

There is no difference.

Except in the want/desire for blood or energy. Yet all humans do this in some form, we are very social creatures. Even those of us who are "anti social" have friends and actively seek them out when they don't have any.

You would not be here if you were a hermit. Only then you would truly be someone who does not want people around. People in general want energy exchanges with other people, it's the level of exchange that makes the difference if it's vampiric or not.

yes the emotions are a lot stronger. my emotions run very deep and sometimes can cause severe pain.

I suppose it would depend on the person. Some are extremely sensitive and others are not. I know that I do tend to feel thing more deeply and for longer than most, but I don't believe myself to be a vampire, just an overly sensitive person.

I think that they are, if all the physical aspects of a vampire is heightened then I think that their emotions would be as well.

I hate to break it to everyone, but everyone has strong emotions depending upon their circumstances... do i think that my emotions are deeper and stronger and true than the general human being- no.

i can concede that the mythological vampire has heightened senses, but that is not the same as emotions.

And as to modern day vampires: What makes your emotions stronger? because you feel suicidal when your boyfriend dumps you? because you can move mountains when you are in love?when your hungry you suck blood instead of running off to the nearest fast food joint?

there are plenty of empathics who do not claim to be vampires, werewolves, or witches... they are just people connected to others feelings.

yep i think they are. not very comfortable sometimes.

many people who gravitate towards the darker lifestyle tend to have deeper feelings, but that only makes since. society, at least american society tends to downplay emotions with intellect and work-ethics. so people who have and/or show more emotion would naturally be pushed away from desirable areas, like the "in" crowd

We cannot measure emotions and therefore cannot compare the range of vampire emotions to humans.

All of these answers are speculative and completely biased by the individuals answering the question and their emotional history and stability filter into their responses.

I have no clue if they do or not but, its something worth looking into

Seriously that is so very true, what seems to be lacking is a basic understanding of the human emotion as it relates to hormonal levels and environmental changes.

Yes there are those that have stronger emotional out puts, does that make them vampires? uh no.

In the same way all vampires are not stronger empathically. It all depends on the person and when you come across them. Even the strongest empathic wants a break for themselves. To think of it any other way is to think of fiction, not reality.

Well everything I have read and heard points to vampires having almost no emotion but they never really explain it beyond that emtions just get in the way. I personally believe that when everything else becomes hieghtened then that includes emotions. Maybe not all the basic human emotions but I am sure they still feel love and hatred as strong as any human.

i do not thin that the emotions are stronger i just think that we have more timeon our hands to pay attention to the then the normal humans do

vampires seem to be more emotional than humans . because they understand life and death more than humans. there special abilitys speed,strength, keen sight , smell, hearing , and a strong mind

Being that I'm not a vampire I can't really speak for them. Although I know quite a few people who are very passionate with there emotions. It's hard to imagine that other's could have emotions intensified. Not that it doesn't happen .

I would look at it this way.That empathes and vamps would have stronger emotions,since most vampires are empathes and would also depend on how acute their empathic level was also.

That would be a tough question since alot of vampires feed off of emotion.Would it actually be our emotions or a combination of other people's and ours? Or is it possible to store up emotions to feed on later? Like we do with energy or blood.

I dont think most vampires are empaths though.. the two are not mutually exclusive.

Most psi vampires i have met are empathes too,because of their feeding habits.Not sure about sangs though,but i would guess that some are ,because they can feed off emotions and energy as well as I can feed off of blood.

I think it really depends on the person. Some are emotionally stronger & others like myself have separated themselves from 2 much emotion. I know quite a few psi vamps that are empaths & highly emotional b/c they feel what others are feeling directly...

i feel that we creatures of the night feel the emotion's of our human side stronger for they are our little reminders of what it was like to be mortal. but thats something that can be talked bout. but r we doomed to feel the emotions of all of the world to make us pay for the demons we all hold with us.

"real" vampires are human and therefore have human emotions. Mythological vampires have no emotions if theyve been a vampire for very long. They lose their humanity completly over time. It's only in modern fiction that some are able to keep any of it and they have to fight for it. I may call myself a mutant, alien & a Vampire but I know ultimately I am a Human, even though I have more of a claim than some to those names.
1. I was born in germany but live in the U.S. and am not a U.S. citizen which makes me a card carrying alien.
2. I have extra redundant parts in my digestive system plus I have two glands by my ears that DRs have no clue what they are. so I'm a mutant
3. I have been known to drink blood. one who drinks blood is considered a vampire.

but the bottom line is I'm still human and have human emotions.

I wouldn't know if all vampires do, but in my own experiences some of my emotions are so powerful, and some of my senses so overwhelming at times that it's hard to imagine just anyone has that problem.

I think that all humans have strong emotions at one time or another in their life. However, whether you believe vampires have stronger emotions depends upon your take/ view of vampires.

My personal view is that vampires are more sensitive to both their own and the emotions of others around them. As a psi vamp, this is part of what makes it possible to discern a person that is a good source of energy vs a person who is a bad source of energy. I think I've got my emotions pretty tightly under control, but that's with a lot of meditattion and a lot of practice.

I agree with Liebe 100% she is right vampires are humans period.

I think that we do have stronger sence of emotions because for most vampires it is a life of solitude that we live. we have a deeper conection with our souroundings

I have to agree w/ some of the posts above me. I am so aware of my emotions that there have been times where I felt I was dying of emotional overload. That goes for positive and negative emotions as well. I've been known to be so happy it overwhelms people, but at the same time if I am down...it's almost scary how different I become.

I really have to watch my emotions sometimes because I project them onto other people. If I am feeling really sad I will find that people around me feel sad and have no idea why they feel that way.

I'm not sure I'm a caring person but I'm also very apathetic, that helps me keep my temper in check but if I see someone tormenting someone else and let it in my emotions are to much for me but I couldn't say this is a "vampyric trait" it would depend on the person and there situation

i believe so. even though it is hard for me to admit emotions like love. certain emotions are stronger than normal people

how can we have emotions ?

i think it depends on the situation what reasons cause stronger emotions. what might make me feel really in tune, or in pain, or feel a sense of loss at a greater level, might not even effect u on a smaller level. and vice versa. everyone is different. even vampires.

I can imagine they might when they are hungry and in dire need of a good feed :)

Still wouldn't you say all hungry people get that way? Again I don't think vamps are any different than people.

Everyone feels their own emotions acutely...even those who wall them off. This topic would do better as a poll.

I dont think we have strong emotions, however I do feel that we FEEL emotions in a different way than regular humans because we are vampiric.
