SOME HAVE SAID THAT OUR LIFE AS WE KNOW IT ARE PICTURES IN TIME, AND SOME SAY OUR LIFE FLASHES BEFORE OUR EYES BEFORE DEATH. SO MY QUESTION TO PONDER IS THIS ALL THE FLASHING OF OUR PAST TO OUR FINAL BREATH OF LIFE?

WHAT I HAVE PONDERED IS THIS ALL THAT WE HAVE ALREADY DONE, AND WE ARE JUST SEING OUR LIFE FLASH BEFORE OUR EYES NOW.

Well I never had a near death experience but when I was told a couple years ago that I might have cancer my life flashed before my eyes and I realized that if I did have cancer I wouldn't have died after having a happy life. But I don't have cancer so i turned my life around.

This is a very good question and one I have not really pondered before. I would say that it is only our current life, because past life memories don't completly mesh with this relm.

tough question, especially tough if you have not had a near death experience, and if your dead, well I'd be surprised to see you on the forums.

My mother had a near death experience. She said as she died her life in pictures went through her mind. Then she saw a bright light. Her Aunt would not let her go to the light and she lived.

im not without experience of a close death encounter with cars, its not something i hope nobody has to go through, yes it can happen but for as many encounters or brush with death ive had sometimes you dont see it. It seems like time stands still, waiting for that one split moment when things can change is the longest moment and well in that moment you can indeed see some memories of ur lifetime.

No pictures, no memories, no regrets. In fact I felt rather content and at ease. Then this doctor pulled me back, and all started over again...

yea i guess it depends on how you pass if its well, although i knew i felt i was going to die i didnt really seem to care, my body didnt do anything, it just accepted it, was kinda peaceful.

Well, I've never died but I did have a close call. All I can remember is a perfect perspective of what was important and what wasn't. No pictures, but since I didn't die, don't know:)

I don't believe you see your life flashing through or a loved one... in matter a fact I don't really care, I'll see it when it's time ^^

I guess its something that can be a different experience for everyone.

The closest near death experience I have had was just the thought "this is it"... I didnt see any pictures or bright light. I passed out assumably due to the fear of death since there were really no physically problems that resulted from the wreck.

BUT COULD YOU ALL IMAGINE THAT RIGHT NOW YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE AS YOU KNOW IT IS JUST VISIONS IN YOUR DYING HEAD PASSING REMEMBERING, KNOWING THAN ALL WILL BE BLACK AND YOU SHALL PASS.

I am pretty sure we all recognize that we will die.. minus some of the nuts that claim immortality.

If your suggestion is that we are reliving our lives right now as we die, what is differintiate the dream like state versus reality?

I think it to be a wifes tale. Something to scare the belief of negative imagry into your last thoughts. If you did bad the preception would be that you see bad. Just a way to convince us to live a 'good' life.

With my luck, all the pictures that pass through my head will be of the bad stuff I have done over the years. That is the closest I can come to it. Maybe it is just a way to keep you here. I heard that the thought of not dying has keep many people alive. I guess if you are reminding yourself that you have this and that to live for you would have a past-life experience to motivate you to live. It is our way of not letting go. A true vision of life flashing before your eyes would never really be told as... well you guessed it , your dead.

I've never been so close to death that my life flashes before my eyes, nor do I intend to have it do it now, I'm only 16. I don't want to die now. Though it would be a really odd experience I'm sure, as I'm obsessed with my own death.

When I was little I had an accident where I nearly drowned, I can still remember it, but it wasn't as dramatic as some people would like to think.

What I remember is, falling into the water and feeling how cold it was, then being under water and opening my eyes, seeing the sunlight shining down through the water in golden rays.
Thankfully my hair was incredibly long and my mother was able to reach in and pull me out by it.

That's about the closest I've gotten to something like that, I can't really say whether or not I think it's true because I don't honestly know.

Thats food for fodder, could we really be living in an alter dimension?

...If we're living in an alternative dimension wouldn't it just be a normal dimension unless you weren't one of us humans? or are you speaking of vampires? but if a vampire or anyone else was in an alternative dimension how would they manage to get on the internet and chat on VR?

...Unless VR is straddling the dimesions....

If this is my life flashing before my eyes...it sure is taking a long ass time. Sorry, I don't think that the idea of memories flashing before you die, could quite equal the amount of time you spend conciously aware of life. Memories are bits and pieces, not a detailed rememberance of your whole entire life.

Some people would say that time doesn't exist on just one level. Maybe while we're sitting here, billions of things are moving past in a different time...at the same time....as our time...only it's a different time...on a different level..

A few times having a brush with death well its something you learn to live with. I mean i had 5 fatal car crashes and i almost hyper velenated when i was transferred to teh hospital for a bloot clot in my lung.

Im not saying that i fear death, the first encounter perhaps but i got over it cause i didnt die, id say the only time i feared for myself was when i was hospitalized for a blood clot. that month i was brought into the emergency room three different times.

I have never really thought about it. I think that it is our lives fleashin before our eyes.

I have experienced this flashing of your life twice once while drowning and more resent falling a great height. I was pulling some tiles off the roof and slipped backwards on the gutter slime…. As I fell backwards everything slowed and I went through my whole life till the point of pulling that tile and I shouted to myself don’t but it was too late I was falling and I saw the top the tree in the garden and thought wow to be a bird and damn this is going to hurt. Then I hit a branch or two and this process was taking it’s time, I was enveloped in a black misty blanket half way down …. It felt like 2 minutes had past and I was in a dark area, I thought ok now you’ve done it, I called out and told a joke or two and started to wonder WTF…. I noticed the so called passage of light and floated towards it, the only way I can explain this was I moved from my thought from the back of my head down by where you neck joined the skull and shot into the opposite side of my eyes and filled my body again like I was just a speck to start with and not using my eyes to see but my mouth … odd I know but there you have it … the nurse jabbed me with an epidural of something for the pain in my spine I passed out again. I was apparently in a comma for a week and eye witness said I bounced when I hit the floor.
I believe on both occasions of the life flashing one is judging ones self and you will positively or negatively signature your soul, like a key to the dimension your energy is going too …

You know, Mori.. I'm pretty good at server configuration.. I've done many.. I've NEVER gotten a server to straddle dimensions...

Now as for the flash and all, I know that medically it has been proven that our memory does reverse and shows us the most important or the event that has mark us, and in a reverse order, like if it was shutting down, whcih is what it is doingactually. It was a doctore that told me that, the bf of my ex mother inlaw he is a Doctor, that has retire now.

You post an interesting subject for dicussion...I believe in reincarnation so I think the only life that flashes in front of our eyes is the one we leave behind... call it a recap of the things we did so we can take our lessons on to the next chapter of our lives.

I think that it is a reflection of all that we have done, good and bad, and something that must be dealt with in the next life.

i have literaly died twice in this life and i dont know if its because it happened so quickly that i did not see anything or if it was because it wasnt meant to end that way..but i know that i did see what was on the outside of life in the spirit world and it isnt all that bad even though i wasnt there long i felt at peace

i dont think it just happens when u die but all through or lives...its just a happening thing, its a good reflection on where and wat u have done

It is possible that these images of our lives is showing us the worst and the best of what we have done. It could be an outward expression of our anxiety over our approaching death. Have I lived and lived well, did I do the right thing by myself and others, etc.

I have had near death experiances. I even have had out of body experfiances. I say flashes of things that I had done and things that i was suposed to do that had not happened yet it was pretty amazing and eye opening. there are so many of us that take the breath that we have and never do anything with it ever since those experiances, i have made a true effort to fulfill my destiny as a guide

when I had a near death experiance it was not so much as my life flashing as me seeing all the things I would miss

My aunt was telling me of her near death experience. She didn't experience the flash of her life but had the whole tunnel with a white light. Met by her mother that told her to go back, it wasn't her time. SHe said it was so soothing and so comforting, when she was forced back, she ended up being angry for a year, because she felt rejected.

I think I remember something like this concept from The Others, that movie from a few years ago. But I believe the basis of that was taking pictures of the corpses to trap their souls or something.

Now... I have had a bunch of experiences that are deemed to be "near death" and none of these times I saw my life flash before my eyes, nor did I feel regret or any negative feeling. It was usually a "Shit, is this really happening?" thought process for me.

my passing was quite different i was young and did not understand that of why this was happening to me but after it was over i thought to myself well i didn't feel anything and it was quite peaceful

probly thought of the happiness that would be coming of his passing and how much happier he would be after his life was finished knowing that he did not have to deal with the pain and sorrow any longer perhaps?? who knows i don't much understand how it works but i have heard people have done it

I dont doubt that it can happen... ur life flashing before ur eyes. but it has not happened to me. luckily i have only had one near death experience and nothing flashed before my eyes. i went numb, and blank. i could see everything that was happening but it was as if i was looking down on myself... more like an outer body experience. but my life did not flash. and im sure theres plenty of flashing that could have happened. but i may be different.

why bloodlust i may say this once and once only it is different for everyone nobody is the same some may see their lives flash before their eyes and others may not it all depends on what u wish to happen at the point in time

Perhaps what cannot be proven is merely speculative evidence to support our own internal afterlife beliefs. The concept of your life flashing before you, could possibly just be a way to mentally transition from life to death by allowing closure.

I think everyone has a private moment at that point,...their lives flashing before their eyes, is in my opionion, a private moment of re-cap thought,.. of that persons experiences comming to realization that their physical life has come to an end. ...or at least about to.

this topic is one i know much about as i have died numurous times before. what people see before they die are the things they held important in life. these things they will hold dear to the in death as well.

Is all that we see before we die good stuff? or is the bad in ther too? I wonder that..ourselves trying to figure out where we belong...heven or hell..Odd thaughts process, I know..just curious though.

well i have had 2 near death experiences, in one, the last thought was about all the things i dident get to do and had the chance, i was yong, about 14, the other i had recently about Dec 2006 this time i dident think at all, i just felt peace like i knew my life was coming to an end and i could accepted it.

I used to know a guy. My best friend from a long time ago. Her dad was seriously obese and he died in total about 4 times. He said his life flashed before his eyes, his heart skipped a beat on all occasions, I think it was more times than that actually

that is totally different cause they had brought him back to life from the hospital tools did they not??

It doesn't matter how he was brought back to life, the fact is, his heart skipped a few beats, therefore he was dead

lol but they also put a pulse back through his body bringing his regular heartrate back until it did it again therefor it gave him 4 chances to look at his life flashing before his eyes

It could take the blink of an eye, I presume it would take that long...Someones got a gun against you're head, pulls the trigger, if you're life is gonna flash before you're eyes I'd presume it'd take less time to have it flash before you're eyes than it does in the time to pull that trigger - a few seconds

What does it matter how many times they brought him back? This was over a period of time, not all together.. Is you're first death experience insignificant to you're last? I doubt that, I think it'd get more intense each time, as you're really testing fate

true but who knows it all depends on w/e happens when ur near death not all people see their lives flash before their eyes i never did because i chose not to he just so happened to see it i guess because u must not have control over it for some oddball reason but im not going to debate on whether it mattered to what has happened all i know is that he has seen his life flash before his eyes 4 times already so thats all i was trying to say

He never stated if he had seen it flash before his eyes four times, he just said hes seen it flash before his eyes. So I'd presume he saw it every time, the guy is even bigger than he was now, he can't fit in a car now...So I guess he'll be seeing it again pretty soon.

that has to suck but who knows people are different he might have seen it all 4 but who knows??
