Many people think one can become undead and live to walk this word and to feed off of others life force.
Why would any one want to be undead and live forever? this is one of the mind breaking got to know kind of things.
Hope you can help me to find out- what would be so good to be undead?
*spelling edited*
STABB
Because the undead does not exist unless in spiritual form, it is not a compelling want, obviously.
Not to be rude, but please do work on your spelling as well.
Undead is a term that has been glorified by books, movies, and games.
undead...no living but sort of alive, ....dead but not dead...it is mearly an illusion created by the tv, books and simlar media, as once dead, exept for the spirti part of the living, then nothign is alive or undead.
As undeath is usually viewed as a curse for some terrible deed, or black magic cast on a corpse to bind it to unwilling, eternal servitude, in most mythologies, the real question become, "Who'd WANT to be undead?"
I think a lot of people would like to be undead because of the things they could do while being immortal, now if you are talking about zombies or something like that then i do not know why they would want to be that...
and
xKittenLovecraftx~
I do not think her spelling was bad enough for you to say anything about it...
"Many people think one can become undead ..." None that I know of. o.O
yeah i dont know anyone that believes theyll become undead. i for one am in belief that a vampire is made when a vampires soul is reincarnated
I could never think of a good thing about being "undead". It is too gray. I prefer things black or white.
to put it short undead is a rprs tearm we who are of the true darkblood do not use it
Well all this is just speculation, but I think it would fit here very well?
Well, proly ppl want to become undead, cuz they like the Death Magic, and Necromancy, wich are the specialties of the Undead.
Since everybody feels powerless in this world of today, it is logical that they desire some power, or ability.
And it would really be ok to turn all the politicians in to brainless rotting zombies, and to liberate the world on the wings of a simple corpse eating fly.
*zzzZZZzZZZzzzzZZZzzzZt*
I don't know of anyone who believes they are one of the 'undead'........but I have a feeling it's only a matter of time lol
i think being undead consists of of alot really some people believe that to be undead is to be evil or atleast in a sense. I myself think to be immortal would be very mysteries and to be able to do whatever you wanted is awsome. I think to be undead wouldnt be evil at all it would be the final step of transfomation into a new and beautiful life. kissses&deadlybites always
undead is hollywoods interpatation of this, like resident evil or night of the living dead. As for us when we pass our life form may remain, yet unclear, as a ghost or energy. to live out as we have done. the fictional part of the undead leave in the movies.
all i know is spiritual forms like spectre's ghosts orbs etc....
I do not believe in reanimated corpses. No way. I don't think that the spirit can come back once it's gone and I don't think a body can be animated without the spirit.
I think there is some kind of ritual in like Africa or something, where they can make you a zombie, but im not sure
The undead...You clearly speak of fiction, dear...I don't agree with such a concept I'm afraid.
Why would anyone want to become undead and live forever? And, what is "forever" in your opinion? ALL things eventually come to an end, there is no "forever".
working in medical field at one time.. i would say yes undead would be like a coma.. your alive yet ya feel dead in some aspects..then again when i sleep walk im like walking dead.. i dont speak or talk but i see and feel mostly when i walk into the doorway .. lol ok thanx all
Raven, if you have a problem with how I percieve things, then abide to your own terms huni, because spelling is frankly my pet peeve.
People go to school for a reason.
Anyway, I doubt very much anyone would want to take that up pretty much due to the fact that the term "undead" is plainly not...dead.
lol, so immortality would be one attribute.
So for some, it might be appealing.
I don't believe that you can become "undead" and keep your mortal form, and I don't believe you can become undead willingly.
The only sort of "undead" I believe in are restless souls, ghosts, etc.
"Undead" is still up to interpretation. Some may think Lepers are Undead, because their body is unable to sustain the flesh. Others might think someone who has returned from a brief period of death in the operating room might be "Undead".
Others may just think "Undead" was a British Punk Rock band to not gain much weight in the music industry until the late 80's.
Myself? Never studied it, so I will not form an opinion on it yet.
this may sound cliche but not everyone knows there dead they don't mean to do what they do but they do
they feel like they are living there life still
Who wouldn't want to live forever? I know that I certainly do. There is no such thing though so don't worry your pretty little head over it.
i wouldn't i see so much pain right now
if i wasn't in pain sure live forever but in pain
"Die young and leave a good looking corpse*
Two ways you can be named.."undead".
One..your soul could be very old cause
you have died..and your just undead cause
you been threw death..though the body is very much alive..your spirit your energy is
thousands or hundreds of years old fermented in death..but thriving alive.
Two....Someone could go a change..in wich
the body dies then comes back to life.DOSENT mean that the body is still dead.even someone from a hospital..that has flat=lined..can be called the undead.
Its..silly if you think about it.
Un-dead.
dead but not.
dead undoes itself.
Get it?
well I do not believe that a spirit is considered the Undead, I mean that is like impossible and only in hollywood, do I believe that there are any Undead out there. I myself would not want to die and then still be stuck here and not want to be here. LOL just my opinion is all
Can you become undead?
No. no no no no no. No. And no. No more than you can ride a unicorn, or catch a leprechaun.
Sorry.
Undead is a collective name for mythological beings that are deceased yet behave as if alive. Undead may be spiritual, such as ghosts, or corporeal, such as Vampires and Zombies. Undead are featured in the legends of most cultures and in many works of fiction, especially fantasy and horror fiction.
The undead....Like resident Evil or Dawn of the dead...undead
Undead is a generic term, when used in relation to Vampires it's more in the context of un-dying as in living a very long life. Which when the term was coined 60 years old was ancient.
This can be attributed to many things, but most of which is the direct influence of lessoned stresses by a privileged lifestyle and/or the inclusion of "magics" to help sustain health and over all well being.
But it can also be used when examining the effects of things like physic vampirism, which is a real thing, often misunderstood but real none-the-less.
The term now mostly means, a box office hit!!:D
Ok so what is some one says thay feel like thay are undead and thay mean it?
I, for one, would not mind to be undead and walk among the living for eternity. The knowledge that one would acquire would be greatly beneficial to all living beings. When one is already emotionally dead, loosing so many "loved" ones over the generations would not be as troubling as most would like to think. Not only would an undead being be able to pass on the knowledge of ages, they would aslo be able to pass along their seed through the generations with that same knowledge of ages ingrained into that youth. Just my personal opinion's on the matter, and because of such, i would appreciate it if none were to comment negitively on this post since you do not know me and do not know what i endure on a daily basis. I am not one to critisize another based on their opinions and i would expect the same from other's. Thank you for your time to read this and for your consideration. Carpe Noctem
I believe there is no way someone can become undead.. lays of science just do not allow it
from the things that I've learned, here in planet earth, you can become undead until this comes to an end... this planet is not going to stay here forever, on the contrary, it's coming to an end real quick... at least, for the living 'animals', due to the global warming and whatsoever...
probably I will received bad critics on this, I don't care... ^^
for example, it's possible to became a vampire or werewolf just by making a pact with Satan... this requests lot's of time, and believe me, sacrifices must be made... yes, killing others it's a pre-requisite to that and much, much more must be done first, and of course, the pact is a trade of your soul to receive those powers... that's not for me... na, na... :X
Gee, live forever. That means going to work, paying bills, putting up with ever more jerks for ever- no way.
Relly do not think it likely...but one can never say anything for sure...333
Isint "undead" more of a VooDoo or a Vodon term? The making or turning of a living free thinking being into a Zombie? Im probably wrong.
Personally I believe that the only way you can become undead is when your 6ft under, or in an urn..
the undead is a non living thing a thing that the movies have tried to make out that they are a living thing
not sure anyone would want this, do u know of anyone who wants to be undead?
The term undead as has been previosly stated is a term invented by hollywood,..
besides who'd want to give up on LIFE??
Well, undead is actually a fictional reference to zombies and the like. Vampires are not really undead. They were never killed to begin with. They were born again. It's simply a trancendance to another level of life.
Necromancy is wicked! I would be undead if I could. Then I could eat ppls brains.
Personally I believe that only in spiritual forms can you become undead, not the physical.
Seeing as how being forced into the state of undeath is veiwed as a horrible curse for vile transgressions in many cultures, I'd have to say I'm disinclined to join the ranks. I'd think that any advantages to the stae would be vastly outnumbered by the disadvantages, and could easily see myself going stark raving insane within a few years of enduring the strain of being cursed so.
Zombies from Hati...no! They were given a drug to make people think they were dead. If your dead your dead. You can only inhabit the earth in the spirit form.
not in the phsical sense no. The whole walking dedad thing, i have one word for you, HOLLYWOOD
i find the idea of being an "undead" very hollywood..sorry if i offend anyone .. but nope not possible
I don't believe you can become undead. Immortal yes... Undead no
I dont think so and dont see why anyone would want to be undead.
actually, the term undead predates hollywood. stoker used it in his sequel to dracula.
to anyone who is able to read - undead is NOT a term invented by hollywood. it was used in literature before movies were invented. it is a mistranslation of nosferatu, which apparently means not dead. oh, and Nosferatu was made in Germany in 1922, which for the geographically challenged is not even in the united states, let alone the little town of hollywood.
Can you become "undead"?
Forgive me, but what a truly ridiculous question given that the only way one could attempt to answer such a question would be to kill oneself and see whether you, unlike all others in Human history, could somehow come back to life again.
Should anyone wish to test this on themselves, what can I say but... I wish ya the best of luck!
The facts, people; find the facts instead of trying to continually emulate fiction.
the term undead is more or less towards ghosts becuase the spirit is not dead but for zombies and vamires and such like that ....no they do not exsist
well I dont see me testing this out on myself lol I enjoy my life and all that is in it.
have you noticed how some retards reply to the heading without actually reading the text of the question itself? i can say this safely in the knowledge that he wont read this and be offended because he thinks nobody elses opinion matters.
i think death helps us appreciate life. so i don't see the benefits.
me either but some ppl might but I wouldnt understand why

The term "undead" was first coined in fiction, yes. And the term "nosferatu" does not at all mean "undead" but instead is derived from the Greek term "nosophoros meaning "plague carrier."
Vampires were not originally blood drinkers, a trait ascribed only centuries later when the superstitious Slavic peasants began digging up corpses and mistook the decomposition fluids found on and inside the corpses to be fresh blood. Prior to that, the vampire was known for its insatiable sexuality that, following days and nights of non-stop lovemaking caused its female "victims" to appear "exhausted and emaciated" thus resembling the symptoms of Consumption (Tuberculosis), the "plague" for which the very term Nosferatu was coined!
Again... let's learn the actual history and dispel the fabulous fictions if we are to seek truth here.
karnstein -
Proves your point? No... the facts I provided directly contradict the point you made. Your point was that "undead" was not coined in fiction and Hollywood because the term Nosferatu means "undead" and was around long before the silent film of the same name.
However, as I just pointed out in my previous post, "Nosferatu" does not mean "undead" at all. Thus, your point falls on its face.
I think this post needs to close since we al have pretty much stated we dont want to be undead and that it is not possible to be
karnstein -
And yes... I do tend to ignore those for whom ad hominem responses comprise their primary arsenal where intellectual debate is concerned.
no - i said it was coined in fiction - but not hollywood. like i said, you dont read what others write. actually, the word i used was literature, but i did say stoker. the mistranslation was his, which is why i used the word apparently, because i wasnt entirely sure he was right.
karnstein -
You said literature (though "Stoker" was never mentioned) and I said fiction. Hollywood took it from there. The point is that nosferatu does NOT mean "undead" and, thus, the term has no basis in historical fact or folklore. The term is wholly the invention of fiction... and later, Hollywood.
Well for ONe this wont ever be cause it is just a meere fascination created and expended upon by hollywood and Media.. But like stated previously i assume one would want it forthe Death Magic and Necromacy Power of the Status they hold but it wont happen so ...shrugs
yes uphir - and i 'm saying i agree, it does not mean undead, and i did quote stoker - i think you must have missed that post - doesnt surprise me.
i made three points - that undead was not invented by hollywood, that it nosferatu does not directly translate as undead, and that you dont read other peoples posts. now which of those points are you disagreeing with?
The problem with the concept of the undead is that you must be dead first. And if you are wrong then you are screwed.
We can push this discussion as far as anyone wishes, but the fact is that Hollywood/literature/interpretation has taken many myths and legends far beyond where they began. And it is not always a bad thing. If they were myth to begin with then to enhance or reinterpret for the masses is just a high tech way of doing what has been done throughout history.
to tackle the original question as to why one would want to live forever, feeding off others - well who would not want immortality? i have seen many things come about in my short lifetime - so many changes. some good, some bad, but they fill me with curiosity as to what might happen in the future. i don't want to die.
i am approaching the end of my life now, and i am not satisfied - i want more. i don't believe in undead vampires, but if i did, and i had the opportunity to become one, i would take it.
karnstein, I hope when you talk of approaching the end you are referring to the "3 score and 10" and not something going on currently with your health. You would surely be missed. Plus I have a few years on you so you are treading on my mortality as well. May you live to be 150 and may the last voice on earth you hear be mine.
Aren't we all. But you tend to keep us all thinking. That helps us and hopefully it helps you as well. An active mind is a healthy mind. And a good argument is as active as you can get.
The only way that i know of that a person could even come close to death is from that "potion" that the people involved in voodoo give to certain people to make them into slaves, i forget what is in that stuff but it basically makes you walk around not knowing what is going on...
For me it is Tequila, but I know it isn't what you are talking about.
well, the undead you seem to be talking about..... vampires.......
most people who become vampires didn't intend to become one.
not as a zombie, but as a figment...like a transpernt item....like i said b4
i know some cultures have rituals that make you a 'zombie' of sorts.
but i wouldnt want to be a zombie. killing zombies could be fun. but i like shuan of the dead way too much. ^_^
No I don't believe you can become undead. I think it would be awful to become a zombie. Lol, all I can imagine is brains, more brains, sorry.
Of course someone can. Hell, if the christianns believe that the truth is that Jesus first died, then got resurected, and even later went to heaven, people can be not dead and not liveing. To believe in either thing is to say that there is a way to become undead. and there is also a story told from italy about a farmer who died, then returned to suck a persons blood... 3 years ago.
karnstein -
The only one of your three points (claimed by you in your 12:35:16 entry here on today's date) that was accurate was the first, that the term "undead" wasn't invented by Hollywood, but instead by literature (i.e., fiction, as I also pointed out).
The second point you then tried to claim as your own -- that nosferatu didn't mean "undead" -- was not your point at all but instead mine. Yours was exactly the opposite! Your original point (made at 11:33:54 here) was as now quoted verbatim: "...(undead) is a mistranslation of nosferatu, which apparently means not dead."
It was my point, made in rebuttal of your own, that nosferatu actually means "plague carrier."
While it is ridiculous that anyone should be forced to make such clarifications here, yet when persons like you must continually insult others for correcting your errors, and then blatantly attempt to claim the corrections made as your own while continuing to insult them, something deserves to be said... and so I have.
the only real undead i know is my sons socks,,,,,they stand up by themselves
Undead you ask? How's about I pour a nice tank of nuclear waste all over you, after you die, just to see if the movies are accurate?? pleaseee, can I can I??
umm....yeah...i believe the whole point of being undead is that the soul left the body but the body is still living
I always thought that being undead was only in the movies
you are either dead or alive, there is no combination of both
I believe your spirit lives on after your physical body dies, but I also believe spirits never die therefore they are always living
