In my opinion there can be no such thing as a pure blood vampire not even Dracula. Because when they feed they consume many diffrent types of blood so therefore there blood is never as been pure right??
I believe The true question is How do you define "Pure"?
I think if a vamp were to drink blood it wouldn't make a difference in how pue they are or not. When you are saying pure blood you mean that he was 100% vampire. I doubt his food would make any difference. I think the dillema would be wheather any vampires are fully 100% vampires to begin with since they start out as human.
why not though princess when most refer to pure blood they talk about the blood
Well You are talking about "pure" blood. If One were to Kill for they're blood, do you really think it is "pure"
i always took it as pure blood in the sense of being 100%, like a race of people...
sure you are what you eat in the sense you use the nourishment you receive from the item not literally become that
i'm not an apple because i ate one
now if a vampire literally took the blood of a victim into his/hers blood stream... maybe that could make a difference
but not just consuming
When you're asking a question you usually have to be more specific, but I think that if they do consume the blood of others when once they were pure, they wouldn't be anymore.
Of course human blood is not pure it has not been since the early ages & you still have not answered the question though a vampire can't be pure because you define pure blood as it blood so therefore a vampire can not be pure
but don't hey take the blood in thier viens child so they can get the fresh blood throughout there body
pixie & cat that is why i posted because i wanted others opinions so I could clearify it
see but can you find a site maybe so I could read it pixie because although you make a valid point you have nothing to back the point up
I say that as long as a vampire is a vampire it is a pure blood vampire. Either a pure blood vamp exists or it doesn't, from what this thread is about. (To be honest I don't care if one does or not.) Because you are talking about the old legend type of vampire, you never know. They ALL drink blood, and if you view that as impure than there are no pure vampires. But if you view it as being a race... well. someone wil not change race from what they eat. No matter how much mexican food I eat I will not become mexican. (God I love mexican food.) I would view it as the same way with a vampire.
Now if you are asking if the blood that runs through thier veins is pure or not I would say probably not. But the way you asked the question it left me to assume that you are asking if a vampire would be half vampire and half human in a sense.
If you were talking about the latter you should have stated it in your question. The way you worded it leaves people to just assume you mean one or the other of these things and readers may interpret the question both ways.
Does that help clear up your question about my first post?
Okay princess i see what you say is true but see what you get many answers to one question so there are many ideas & it is not over just one topic therefore there is much more to discuss about it
i was under the impression that a pure blood was one born of that blood, that there is no other race mixed in, that all ancestors were vampires as well
I think this thread would need to take into consideration if or if not a vampire is pure blood after being turned. Some would say that it is not, because they were human before they were a vampire. So this is one factor in this conversation.
Now that is a excellent question best one i have heard thank you I will look at it & search for a answer
and I think what shes getting at is that you are 100% Polish if all of your ancestors were Polish and only had babies with other Polish people. Meaning that never, in any part of the heritage was soemone who had a child with someone of a diferent race. because that child would end up being half Polish and if they Had a kid, even if it was with some 100% polish the kid could only be 3/4ths Polish.
i was under impression a pureblood was meant to be a vampire that wasnt turned.but born vamp
yeah, see... thats also part of the dillema. Is if vampires can be born or if they HAVE to be turned.
There are a lot of factors in this subject that could turn the tables a bit. So really this conversation will be really hard to get an answer for. It all depends on what the individual thinks to be true.
Rock on princesskayd1. Couldn't have siad it better myself.
The "your are what you eat" statement doesn't apply to vampires.
Although I did eat Taco Bell the other day and had a strange desire to wear a sombrero.
That's not true!!! Not all vampires require blood to survive. many can comply with human food but live off of energy and that is what they feed off of is the energies that humans and nature give off...
Blessed Be...

can you find a site selenrose that helps back what you say??
Yes we know. But this thread is about the hollywood version of vamps, not the real ones.
There is a link to a good site about real vampires in my profile.
I'm with you Tego and Princess. If Wolfkiller means fictional vampires, and he does mention Dracula, then the author can create whatever dynasty she wants.
Anne Rice implied that strength and special skills increase with age, and that being "turned" by an ancient would give you an edge over being turned by a vampling.
That said, nowhere in the fiction I've read does it indicate that being turned into a vampire makes you any smarter than your native intelligence allows.
Could be a lot of dumbass vamps out there.
I believe you are misunderstanding the term "pure" What most mean by the term in the tense you mean is that their linage in pure. IE, where they come from.
Not what they eat, as you as put it..
i will make a general statement on the topic, if anything i say has been covered then feel free to pass it over.
first to define "pureblood" that means someone that is 'born' a vampire, now this in turn can only go against the possibility of the existence of 'pureblooded' vampires, because acording to myth vampires age differently if at all, so therefor the child would never grow, unless of course you believe in the ritual of turning... where an infant born to vampiric parents go through a physical 'change' upon reaching a cirtain age.... anyway i degress back to topic...
as for the purpose of this thread, a vampire that consumes blood, known as a 'Sanguinarians', when they consume blood it does not take the place of their own blood, just like humans the blood is digested and processed, absobing the nutrients and proteins that will feed and power the vampires own blood cells.
Therefor it would be said that the vampires own blood has not been 'diluted' by the unpure blood that was consumed as his 'pure' blood is still intacked and not replaced...
i hope this makes sense to anyone that reads it.
Thanks for the post, you stated that well. (the part about the vamps blood not being effected.)
I agree the title pure blood has to do fact of your birth into the vampires naturally, not the fact of the blood you would drink.
if we really want to broaden this more whats really pure?
i am actually pretty sure that question has been answered... not trying to be rude.
I would think that pure blood would denote lineage, like a thorough bred, or a pure bred dog. I would say that drinking the blood doesn't dilute it.
I wasn't referring to vampires I was reffering to the concept of purity.
I still argue the pure vs the non pure...We have pure blood oriental, german, spanish etc...Why not vampire.
This is my point of view for obvious reasons.
Oh, and the post about the childs growth...Are we forgetting the little thing called puberty? Vampires experiance this a bit differant than the mundane.
Okay human blood such as you say can denote to non-purties because we are mixed with diffrent races...there is no one pure human alive on the world in my opinion
but like pure blood is like whole, like whole irish. if an irishman (100%), gets a blood transfusion it doesn't make them less irish, or not eating potatoes or something...
Meh ... I don't believe 'pure' blood has anything to do with race or anything. Just whether its free of disease and such.
Depends upon our context, but if you are asking what would constitute a pure blood vampire, it would have nothing to do with feeding or lifestyle. It would be a bloodline free of impurities, a bloodline that started as vampiric and had remained so without dilution or compromise. Probably no such animal. Only the first could be absolutely pure and only if created as such. Unless the normal mating occurred, and with another pure vampire could pure blood children be born. That would make them seem rather normal. Or holy.
Well...when someone says, "I'm pure __ [Irish, Italian, German, ect]" they mean their heritage. So, when we speak of a Pure Blooded Vampire, we typically mean ones that came from Two Vampire parents. Not bitten. We tyically mean that a long chain in their family tree were born vampires, and not turned. Of course we all know the somewhere in that tree one person was turned that helped start the family, but still.
Because we are all related too if you go back far enough.
STABB666 if you want to degrade a discussion send it to the person who made it. But do not degrade the conversation I thought a dominar would know this seeing as it is our specialazation that is why you were chosen good sir is it not??
I se thank you PA that is a interesting thought now I say this would everybody agree to it that a real-life bloodsucker or sang is still pure even though he sucks the blood of others??
STABB does however have a point-- is this more of a fictional inquiry or a sincere one?
Being an Awakened myself, as well as an Usui Reiki Master, I feel that I myself am not a pure blood by any sort.
Pure blood can be of the lack of mixture in heritage, or even that one is of a line once considered royalty.
Please specify, as it will lead to stronger, more intelligent conversation.
