I do not like having to post threads of this nature.
I am issuing a stern warning to VR members based on numerous complaints about behavior in the vamp box: The vamp box is a PUBLIC FORUM. VR posting rules apply and will be enforced.
Specifically, overtly sexual posts are not allowed. There is a significant portion of our audience that is under the age of 18 and sexual discussions are not appropriate.
This brings me to a second and more troubling point. Sexual discussions of ANY nature, including innuendo between a minor and a person over the age of 18 will immediately be interpreted as "overtly sexual". There is absolutely no excuse for this behavior and it jeopardizes a site many of us appreciate. VR has a zero tolerance policy toward predatory practices with regard to minors.
This is not a site designed for sexual solicitation. This is not a BDSM site. If consenting adults want to have these conversations, take them somewhere else but keep them out of public forums. Consider this your first warning: the effect of which means that Dominars can and will suspend posting rights for this behavior should it continue.
It makes me sick to have to tell adults to not speak sexually to minors.
Question: Can we hug or kiss? What's the limit to the over sexual comments?
The question should be "If I did this in real life in public, would the public be offended?"
If you answered 'no', most likely it is acceptable to post, but there are exceptions to every rule.
It's sad that people have to focus on sexual topics at all on here. I presume they have nothing they can talk about, so they fall back on something like that. Tsk tsk tsk!
I agree that this is a GREAT site and we need to keep things clean. But are you saing that there is no flirting in the Vamp Box?
in my opinion flirting would be included. Flirting is suggesting quite a few things that could further lead some type of sexual activity. between two adults is fine but if it occurs between an adult and a minor it is not acceptable.
Question:
If we observe behavior that we believe is inappropriate, how do we go about reporting it so that swift and stern justice can be applied?
There is much grey area when it comes to flirting. What some person views as being friendly and joking around, another person could see as flirting.
It's best to keep things simple. Obviously it will be a case by case thing, if a Dominar sees something they deem inappropriate, it will be taken care of, bottom line.
What if an under age person is being unapproiate with you?
Same rules. If you are a minor, you are not allowed to engage in any form of overtly sexual discussion in the chat areas.
Trying not to be a pain in the rear on this one, but how do you report observed misconduct?
Do you send it in to the "Request Help" or do we hunt down an administrator type and send a message to them?
Message a Dominar, or if one is not available, then an Administrator.
I think its worth noting that whilst engaging with minors or indeed anyone on any ‘social networking’ site, one should keep in mind that they may not necessarily be communicating with the person who is presented within the profile. Thankfully undercover police continue to patrol chat rooms and social networking sites daily within a ‘Child Protection’ capacity and it’s often possible that the person you’re conversing with is not a young person but an adult whose job it is to monitor internet sites where minors frequent. Alternatively it’s not unusual for an adult to present as a minor in order to attract the company of other minors.
However on the surface messages sent may seem harmless and fun to the sender, but if the wrong person reads it, it can implicit the sender in something a lot more serious than flirting online. So to avoid getting kicked off the site or more importantly getting on the wrong side of the law, the advice would be to abide by VR rules, guidelines and advice, become more familiarized with current legislation and never be overtly sexual or inappropriate with minors. Legislation is there to protect those who are vulnerable and when adhered to it also there to protect you.
I guess, bigdogs question is still unanswered. How does one contact a dominar, senator, etc.. We all know how to contact acolytes, just request help. The VR manual and everyone else always says just contact a dominar, etc... Is there a central list of these folks. Is there query we can do to find them. Should we just post here if we find an issue? The question has not been answered.
Thanks in a huge way for this answer!
Of course I found the "User Levels" approach not too long before this answer was posted.
But this is good info for others to know.
Thanks again big time!
That is a good link. Currently there is one senatoran on line, but no dominars. According to the VR manual, dominars manage the vamp box.
If you have an issue and you see that a Dominar is not online, you can always take a screen shot of the incident, or copy and paste it, and send it to any of the ones on the list and they can deal with it when they log on.
Or you might get lucky with one and catch them lurking. Also Master Vamps/Regents can deal with the issue as well. ;)
Is this new PG13 rule apply only to sexual things, or everything? Such as violence.. hardcore religion/politics.. drug topics, ect?
I mean if you're going to set rules, I think we should be clear on all the rules, and leave as little as possible a mystery.
No one wants to get caught up in a power trip where a Dominar uses these unknown rules to pick on someone without that person being able to defend myself.
I think I speak for more than myself here..
Holy cow.. sorry for that post. I don't know where my head is today.
My question is - Do these vamp box rules apply only on sexual content, or other things aswell? If so, is there any way to clearly read and find out all of the vamp box rules?
the question is legitimate, rude but legitimate....I checked the vr manual...di not see about violence etch
It's best to remain polite while asking questions.
When it comes to things like religion, violence, and sexual topics, treat it the same way you would as if you were posting in the main forum.
Any time someone steps over the line, a Dominar will handle it as they see fit, they have been given that position and are trusted to take each situation as a case by case deal.
If they feel something is inappropriate, *Zip* it's gone. No arguing.
i agree to what sevenn has to say and also to think in a tone as such like this ok what if it was your child so on and so forth be concerned about oithers who are underage.
I have a child and i can see the issues point in the matter do keep it clean.
The 'PG13 rule' is not new. The situation is that some members have chosen to abuse the privilege they have, in using VR wholly inappropriately.
This is a reminder and a warning that sexual misconduct will not be tolerated. Other activities are based on the individual interpretation of the Dominar/Administrator in question.
Members are well aware when they are crossing the line, so there is no excuse.
A little politeness in dealing with members of the Admin team will also go a long way to ensuring a happy VR.
Well I agree with you that adults should NEVER talk in a sexual manor to a minor, But there is an issue with what you preach.
Because of how VR is set up. You as a member are not able to tell if some one its a minor or not. So some one just saying hi, hello in the Vamp box then takes it too their email box and is speaking with a minor and you dont know it. I think that if you are going to impose this policy, Which I FULLY agree with I think a system should be added that anyone under the age of 18 Must have the Month and year of their birth on their account and that only members over the age of 18 are able to obscurer their age or place some thing silly there as many people, in particular minors have.
Safe guard our children as well as the adults that unknowingly have conversations with minors!!

you mention that it was easier to contact an acolyte than a dominar or admin
ALL site admin has access to the acolyte questions queue, and all acolytes are experienced members who will know the fastest way to get help - in a crisis, if all else fails, use the 'request help' link
Please keep in mind, I've stated it once before, this is not a place for discussion on the matter, and as Stabb said, these rules are not new. This thread is a reminder to all.
Not posting sexual, violent, religious, and drug involved topics on the Vamp Box is not asking for too much.
Vampire Rave is for agest 13 and up. Please respect that.
I'm closing this thread. The topic isn't open for debate or discussion.
