The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

Ok here we go,
I was driven to write this by the huge amount of misinformation on what vampires really are on the forum. Some the things I have read are classic mistakes that people new to the community make or are just downright foolish ideas by those that try to make us out to be some sort of dark god or goddess. “But I was talking about fictional vampires!” well guess what you didn’t make that clear and those sort of errors MUST be avoided. The vampire community has long been misunderstood and has made much progress thanks to people like Don Henry, Michelle Belanger, and Father Todd. However people that continue to spew some of the insanity I have read here are the anchor that holds us back from being able to reach a time where the community does not have to remain hidden for fear of being thought insane. So here is a list of things one should know about real vampires:
1) We are NOT immortal. Though some may believe in reincarnation this as close as it gets.
2) You CAN NOT be turned, embraced, sired or in any way shape or form made into a vampire. You are born a vampire and awaken to it or you are not.
3) Sunlight is NOT lethal to us. Though yes some of us are sensitive to it and some even get horrid sunburns if out for only a few minutes in direct sunlight it is not lethal.
4) We do not kill to feed and those that we feed from are NOT called victims they are willing donors and when lacking a donor we find ways to cope. Those that do violence to sate their needs are looked down upon and most often are mentally unstable.
5) Sang vampires don’t NEED human blood, any will do but most prefer it.
6) All of those wonderful so called vampire talents or skills are things any one can learn we just seem to have a natural talent for it.
7) We are NOT superhumanly strong though many vampires seem to be stronger than most people their size.
8) We do age though many vampires seem to not show the effects of aging like most people do.

This is all I can think of at the moment though I am sure I will add more in time. If you have questions please ask if you are going to tell me I am wrong and paint a fictional vampire or give me some insane story will most likely laugh at you before I try to show you reason.

This may indeed be true, but I have a few questions:
Who do you mean by we?
When did vampires coming into being?
How if you can be killed?

That was very well written. It is what I think of when classifying people as living the vampyric lifestyle. Although I would not go so far as calling them vampyres. I do have one question though you said "5) Sang vampires don’t NEED human blood, any will do but most prefer it." did you mean that they need blood it just does not matter if it is human blood or animal blood? Or did you just mean that they do not need blood but prefer to have it?

Ok to be honest I don’t know when vampires came into being. They may have been around since the dawn of humanity for all I know. We can be killed by anything that would kill a so called "normal" person. As for what I meant by we well I am a vampire so I was referring to the vampire community as a whole. Oh and yes I meant that Sangs don’t need human blood it can be animal though most prefer human. Then again there is a debate over the necessity of Sang feeding. Some say that all Sangs can learn to take in energy and don’t need to depend on blood and others say that for them is HAS to be blood.

See what I tend to believe is that there are many types of vampires, and like humans, they all have different characteristics.

Yes vampires are individuals because they are human and humans are individuals. However they can be broken down it to two groups based on how they feed. Psi or Psy or Psychic who feed on energy and Sangs who feed on blood.

Umm... I think you're mistaken by that, I think there are many more than two... Perhaps thousands of them.

Rosho I am sorry but I am not mistaken in this regard. I have been in the online vampire community for the last 5 years and have been awakened to what I am for a few years longer. I have put many hours of research into the vampiric condition and this is how the community classifies real vampires into two types by how they feed. If you name any other type and tell me how they feed I am pretty sure that they can be placed into one of the two groups I have listed.

Well, some people, like myself, still don't believe that there are human based beings (even if they are born vampires, then why would they look exactly like humans) who must suck blood to live, regardless of whether or not it's willingly given without involving the death of the donor.

Anann vampires don’t suck blood in the movie fashion it is most often from a small cut made on the skin of their donor. Now weather you believe that they need to do this in order to function normally or not doesn’t matter much to those of us that know what we are and what we need to function.

Everything is open to interpertation, but I would like to see some people agree on some relative beliefs on this subject so we may see less of the whole "Vampires like that don't exist!"

It is entirely possible than what you are saying is true, but what if there are many different kinds of vampire, and some do not want to be seen, or viewed by anyone including other "vampires"

I would think the addiction to close contact with a donor, the special intimate attention, and the trust that goes into cutting someone and taking blood from them is what people feel that they "need".
Regardless of whether or not people suck, lick, or spoon the blood into their mouths, the rush you get is probably just the same as bungee jumping or getting a bullseye while playing darts.

Vampires do not exist. Humans who live the vampire lifestyle do.

If you were to have blood be your only form of "Food" you would die.

I believe that vampires are alive, but they do not want to be seen by anybody... The classical mouse and cat thing.

This is a very interesting, plain and simple read. Now you state that you have been online for 5years in the vampire communities and came into this a few years before so are you stating that you are newly learned that you are a born vampire?

Your essay is a very good description of the vamp lifestyle, as lived by various homo sapiens on earth today. No problem there, and I'm cool with it.

But you stated that you wanted to clarify things as they pertain to the discussions of what I'll call the "fantastic" version of the vampire (from movies, novels, and legend).

Many questions and discussions pertain to speculation of these characters, so I would caution against taking too many of these discussions as an assault on your current lifestyle.

Anann blood is not the only thing that a vampire needs to live and in fact I have said that vampires are HUMAN. They just need something extra to keep healthy. I will explain the ideas behind why vampires need what they do tomorrow when I have the time to sit and type it all out.

Rosho you are speaking to a real vampire that has been in the community for some time and can point you to a few decent websites that will show you that many in the community agree with all that I am telling you.

Okay I need to say one thing they do not really need blood it is like a ciggerette smoker basically.

I mean when one trys then becomes addicted and starts wanting to feed it is all in the mind.

The mind controls whether you need it or not just like it controls when a smoker needs a ciggerette for the nicotine in it.

I'm sorry Anubis, I have not noticed where you stated that vampires are actually Human. It is late at night and my eyes are blurry so I may have missed it.

However, the way you describe "Vampires" seems to me like most humans, and therefore *gasp* nothing special.

Humans often "awaken" to different sensations as they realize there are different aspects and energies to life and what they take into their bodies. Including blood and other energy from donors.

All humans are sensitive to sunlight. We all burn and darken, our eyes ache because the sun is bright and powerful. This is nothing new, long exposure to sunlight without shelter can bring death.

You have no superhuman abilities, you age like everyone else, and you can cope without drinking blood.

You are just a human being. I don't see how these qualities even need to be branded as "Vampire qualities".

This is just a list of other human habits, dressed up to seem like something else.

I also think that it should be obvious when someone is asking a question about Vampires turning to ash, flying, dying without drinking blood, or turning into different animals, that they are speaking about fictional Vampires created in books or fairytales.

We really don't need clarification, people just enjoy saying "You're speaking about fictional Vampires, they don't exist" because it requires little to no brain power to come up with that conclusion and it ups their forum post count.

You know what i can Answer this ok people read up heres the first vamp to have lived a little info on the truth.
The history of Vlad Dracula is surrounded by myth and legend I had a really tough time sorting out the facts from the legends, the truth is that nobody is too sure what is what. We do know that he was the character that was the inspiration for Bram Stokers Novel "Dracula" being the very famous Count Dracula. The book then brought about the very vampires that are well known to this day and made Vlad the Impaler a famous character from history.

Vlad the Impaler -Tepes (pronounced tzse-pesh) was born in the town of Sighisoara in Transylvania (now known as northern Romania) in 1431 and later ruled the area of Southern Romania known as Wallachia. His father was Vlad Dracul who was a knight in the Order of the Dragon which was a union of central and Eastern European rulers who were a tad worried about the rising Ottoman empire.

The Order of the Dragon's coat of arms was a dragon (the Ottomans) and a cross (Christianity). Vlad Dracul bore this coat of arms on everything, flags, coins, and his seal. It attracted the nickname of "Dracul" I believe coming from the story of the evil dragon in St. George and the Dragon, Dracul meaning Devil in Romanian.

The second son was soon born to Vlad Dracul - that being Vlad II - therefore the name developed an "a" representing the son of Dracul - "DRACULA", the son of the Devil.

The word "tepes" in Romanian means "impaler" and Vlad was so named because of his cruel and gruesome habit of impaling humans and leaving them to rot in the sun as a means of punishing his enemies.

In fact, Vlad was called Tepes (the Impaler) only after his death in 1476. Impalement was considered a particularly gruesome form of execution, the victim was stuck on a sharp stake usually the width of a big burly man's arm (ohhh that's gotta hurt!). Vlad was said to especially enjoyed mass executions, where several victims were impaled at once, and their stakes hoisted upright. As they hung suspended above the ground, the weight of their bodies would slowly drag them downwards, causing the sharpened end of the stake to pierce their internal organs causing a slow painful death. In order to better enjoy these mass spectacles, Vlad routinely ordered a banquet table set up in front of his victims, and would enjoy a leisurely supper amid the pitiful sights and sounds of the dying. I'm glad that I wasn't around in those days to be invited to one of Vlad's dinner parties.

It is estimated that Vlad killed some 20,000 men, women and children - the amount of people he killed varies from anywhere between 20,000 to 500,000. He showed no mercy and often tortured his enemies before killing them.

At the same time that Vlad became notorious for his sadism, he was also respected by his subjects because of his fierce campaigns against the Turks. He was a respected as a warrior and a stern ruler who tolerated no crime against his people, and during his reign erected several monasteries. He was a hero that was both worshiped and feared by his people.

But maybe there was a bit more to Vlad's murderous bloodthirsty habits than we first thought. In 1985 an Idaho physician Dr. Thomas McDevitt suggested that he may have suffered from a bizarre allergic reaction to blood. He claimed that in some allergic reactions to a given substance, sufferers also developed an addiction to that same substance, and if deprived of it they could react in a highly bizarre and deranged manner. Could Vlad of just been throwing a tantrum every time he craved blood? Portraits of the price depict him with dark circles beneath his eyes, puffy cheeks and a sallow pallid complexion - classic characteristics of some types of allergy victim.

There are various descriptions of the death of Dracula. The most popular being that he was killed in battle against Turks near Bucharest in December 1476. It was also said that he was murdered by disloyal Wallachian boyars just as he was about to overcome the Turks and send them packing. Other stories describe the Impaler falling in defeat, surrounded by rotting bodies of his loyal Moldavian troops. There is another account of Vlad accidently being struck down at the moment of victory by one of his own men (now that's a nasty accident).

Whatever happened to Vlad's body? Well that's surrounded by plenty of legends as well, none can be confirmed:

The general thought amongst Vlad historians and experts is that the body of Vlad the Impaler was entombed near the alter in a Snagov Monastery located on an Island in the middle of a lake accessible only by boat. It is well documented that his head was taken and put on display in Constantinople for all to see that the reign of this terrible man was truly over.

In 1931-32, archaeologist Dinu Rosetti, under orders from the Romanian Academy, visited the Snagov Monastery in hope of discovering the body of Vlad Dracula.

What he discovered was looted graves inside the monastery, local legend told of how the body of Vlad Dracula lay one step in from the doorway of the monastery. Not believing this legend he went to the worn out and hammered tombstone in front of the alter. Rosetti found the grave beneath empty. He continued to dig and pre-christian altar, with bones of sacrificial animals.

He decided to give the legend a go - he researched the floor in front of the entranceway. He soon found an unmarked grave that was un looted and appeared to be that of a nobleman. He took photographs of all the inventory of the tomb. The clothes of the body pointed to a rich man. A ring was later identified as a tournament ring of the kind given at Nuremberg. The skeleton however, still had it's head. As mentioned before It is well documented that Vlad's head was decapitated and sent to Constantinople.

Dinu Rosetti went forth and announced that he had uncovered the remains of Vlad Tepes Dracula but the leading historian of the time, Constantin Gurescu dismissed these claims. Dinu Rosetti's claim is not recognized as a true one.



Its true that Monastery at Snagov suffers great humidity and most of the remnants of bodies and skeletons located in the monastery decomposed extremely quickly and much that has been found was beyond recognition, if the body of Vlad were there it probably decomposed and rotted into the ground before anyone could ever see it for themselves.




To this day there are certain legends of Vlad the Impaler that are commonly told around the world. Here are the most famous ones that you might of already heard:

THE GOLDEN CUP

Vlad was generally known as a fierce and honest leader. Vlad was said to have been so confident that no thief would dare challenge him knowing they would be brutally killed that he placed a golden cup on display in the central square of Tirgoviste. The cup was never stolen and remained where it was untouched throughout Vlad's reign.

I have heard another version of this story that he had a fountain in a far off place with pure and cold water that travellers visited often to drink from. The gold cup was placed at the fountain for any who chose to drink from it. It was also never stolen and always returned back to its place at the fountain.

THE STORY OF THE FOREIGN MERCHANT

A foreign merchant from Hungary visited the capital of Tirgoviste. Vlad ordered him to leave his wagon of gold in the street overnight obviously to show off how his people would not steal. However the merchant was surprised to find 160 gold florins missing in the morning. Vlad then told the merchant "Go now; and tonight you shall have your gold back". He put forward orders for his men to find the thief in the city saying also that if the burglar was not found that he would personally throw one of the hugest tantrums anyone had ever seen and destroy the city.

Dracula then put his own money in the wagon overnight adding one florin to the original sum.

The next morning the Merchant was astonished to find his florins returned with one extra. He went to Vlad and said of his findings. Vlad had by then been brought the thief and had him impaled (probably whilst enjoying breakfast off to the side). He announced to the Merchant "walk in peace now; but if you had not told me about that one florin, I would have had you impaled together with this thief!".

THE VISITING MONKS

A difficult story is this one as there is quite a few variations surrounding different details.

The basics of the story are that 2 monks visited Vlad in his palace at Tirgoviste.

Vlad was curious to see the reactions of two monks regarding his impaling and atrocities. He led them to the rows of corpses in his courtyard and asked their opinions. One of the monks responded saying "You are appointed by God to punish evil doers". The other monk obviously more horrified at what he saw and was honest enough to express himself truly and condemned Vlad for his actions.

The German stories tell of Vlad impaling the second monk and rewarding the first but the Russian story tells of Vlad impaling the first for dishonesty and rewarding the second monk for his honesty. Whichever he impaled you can be assured that Vlad being the lover of impalement wouldn't of missed and opportunity like that and most probably impaled both just to have something to enjoy lunch by.

THE NAILING OF THE HATS

Another story that there are a few different versions of.

Foreign Ambassadors were at Vlad's court at Tirgoviste. They were granted an audience with the prince and refused to remove their hats which at the time was the custom when in the presence of a prince in Wallachia. Vlad was angered and instead of immediately impaling them he had their hats nailed to their heads so that they could never remove them.

Another version:
The envoys were Turkish. They refused to remove their Phrygian caps. When questioned why they said it was not the custom of their fathers to do so. Vlad ordered their hats nailed to their heads with three nails so that they might never break such and excellent tradition.

THE MISTRESS

Vlad kept a mistress in the back streets of Tirgoviste. The woman was madly in love with the prince and would do anything for him. One day Vlad came to her depressed and to cheer him up and claimed to be pregnant with his child (she did this knowing full well how upset he got over dishonesty). Vlad warned her that she should not joke over a matter so serious but she stuck with her lie. Vlad then ordered her to be examined by the bath matrons to determine if she was telling the truth or not. He was soon informed of her lie and then slit the poor woman open from her groin to her breasts leaving her to die a slow horrible death and wishing for his people to see what happens to a liar.

BURNING OF UNFORTUNATE ONES

Vlad got upset at the increase of cripples, beggars, poor and vagrants upon his land. He was very obsessive regarding that all worked and contributed equally. So he offered up a great feast in a great hall in Tirgoviste, saying that no one should go hungry in his land.

The people who were made up of those unfortunate souls that were poor and crippled ate and drank late into the night when suddenly Vlad made an appearance. He asked them "What else do you desire? Do you want to be without cares and lacking nothing in this world?". The crowd were fooled by his question and rose up and answered that they did indeed. Vlad then ordered the hall boarded up and set on fire. No one escaped. Vlad explained his actions saying he did it "in order that they represent no further burden to other men so that no one will be poor in my realm". I think Vlad was reincarnated later as Hitler.

WHAT TO DO WITH A LAZY WOMAN

Vlad pointed out a man working in a field who was wearing a too short caftan. The prince stopped and asked if the man had a wife. He replied "yes". Vlad ordered the wife be brought before him and asked her how she spent her days. The terrified woman answered that she spent her days washing, baking and sewing. Vlad pointed out to her the husbands short caftan as evidence of her laziness and dishonesty and ordered the poor woman impaled despite her husband's protest that he was well satisfied with his wife and she certainly was not lazy. The woman was not spared and Vlad ordered another woman to marry the peasant warning her to work hard or she would suffer the same fate.

NEVER HOLD YOUR NOSE IN FRONT OF VLAD

In 1459 on St. Bartholomew's Day, Vlad had 30,000 of the merchants and nobles of the Transylvanian city of Brasov to be impaled. In order to enjoy the entire experience (as we know that it's a full day's entertainment for him!) he commanded that his table be set up and that his boyars join him for a feast amongst the forest of impaled corpses. Whilst dining, Vlad noticed that one of his boyars was holding his nose in an effort to try and avoid some of the smell of blood and emptied bowls of the surrounding bodies. Vlad took it upon himself to impale the man higher than all the rest so that he might be above the stench.

Another version has the man as a nobleman, an envoy of the Transylvanian cities of Brasov and Sibiu sent to appeal to Vlad to spare those cities. Whilst hearing the man's appeals Vlad took great enjoyment walking amongst the stakes with some of the bodies still alive. The nobleman was almost overcome by the ordeal and so Vlad asked him if he found the stench oppressive. The nobleman, seeing an opportunity to get on Vlad's side of things responded that his only concern was for the health and welfare of the prince. Vlad was then angered at the nobleman's dishonesty and of course (I bet you've guessed already) had him impaled once again high above the stench

wolfkiller no it is not like an addiction because an addiction has to have a start by choice. No one I know of just decides to drink blood and most people that take energy directly start doing so unaware that they are doing so. Also believe me when I say that I tried to not be what I am. I tried not feeding for a month and maybe a little more and believe me I was very unhealthy. There is no way to quit being a vampire.

Morrigon to be honest I didn’t think that I would need to state that after the list I made however I didn’t take into account the need for the obvious with some people. No offense to you I just mean it’s clear now that someone was bound to point that out. Any how the reasons many of these traits are considered vampiric in nature is because not everyone NEEDS to take in energy from a source other than their normal food to function. I mean the word vampire is just the closest thing we have to define the condition. I mean many vampires don’t even like the word but have nothing better to define what they are.

It is almost 100% likely that stories of vampires stemmed from him and the books written about him and the tales told about him.
As much as we like to cling to the idea that vampires do exsist, one must be realistic and come to the acceptance that they most likely do not.
If you are a person who thoroughly believes that they are truely a vampire, and yet you are not a blood drinker, affected by sun, hater of garlic, some sort of walking corpse, then what does that make you? Oh yes, a normal person!
If none of those things define a vampire, then exactly what does?

How do you know that not everone NEEDS to take in energy besides food, water, sun, and sleep?

Just because one puts a conscious effort into something does not mean that they do it and others don't.

People go out at night with their friends, stay up later than they normally would, they gather energy from the people around them.

You go to a concert and you can dance around more, you feel elevated in your mood and spirit, you feed off the crowd around you and the music being performed.

You put in some tunes and they put you in a certain mood. You draw the energy just from that song.

Physical and Emotional feeding are so similar they can sometimes be considered the same thing, especially when you take a look into the concept of mind over matter.
You can feel like you need to taste the blood of someone just because you like the close contact, extra attention, and even the taste. The whole experience will give you a high just because you are so focused and aware of what you are doing.

First of all, I am wondering at the moment of how I should word myself without insulting the whole of this thread, or more respectively the individuals posting.

For what seems as though a very decent essay, my opinion is that this piece of work could be suited best as a journal item, but well it is what it is.

Since this does seem as though a bit of a thinker of what the contents partain to, I will section it out for simple understanding.

What may one tell these days of "mis-information" to some, as no one truly knows what vampires "truly are". Is just a way of letting any in society know you are representing the VN as an "embassador" to your community.

I do appreciate where you are coming from in this aspect. Since you seem to be going into this as an individual speaking on behalf of the entire community. So be it, just remember to govern yourself accordingly and keep things on the level.

I will give my two cents on your numbered items.

1. Of course we are not immortal, who ever said we were? It may seem as though we are since we do age slower then the "average" individual. Thus the appearance of looking younger than most.

2.No you cannot be turned, as stated, you are born the way you are. Even if the awakening comes with age, some do not awaken until they are in their late 40's or so. Vampire puberty is a good way to put it.

3. Sunlight is not lethal no, but there are certain individuals such as myself who are very allergetic to the UV of the sun's rays. Don't ask me to explain why again.

4. Very self explanatory, as killing to feed is both stupid and illegal. But animal blood is just as stupid to feed from as is killing to feed. Who ever thinks they need animal blood to sustain themselves should just eat a rare steak and let it be.

5. "Sang" is a term for the blood feeders, thus you created yourself a contradiction. Before you re-iterated with the feeding off of animals. This taking us back to number 4. by the way, be careful on how you word your definitions for "Sang" and "Psi" as these two words are a very touchy subject.

6. Agreed, nuff said.

7. Once again, you are speaking of the living vampire...So super human strength should not be a factor. As there is no real way to prove who is stronger genetically.

8. Please revert back to number 1., as aging is a mortality issue.

As for reading the replies to the thread itself, who is to say what the right or wrong way to "feed" is? You have your methods, we have ours. This is not a be all end all discussion. There is no judge to put the Rave on trial for the way they tend to their personal "habits".

Since we are apparently on outspoken thoughts at the moment, I will acknowledge the old english postings...This is a new age people, not some whitewolf victorian age of vampires...No more "my lords or my ladies comments." In my opinion, these come out as very arrogant. No disrespect intended as I have stated earlier.

Concerning your post AL, of being in said online community for some 5 years now, and have been awakened since the age 16 or so? Give us an age range of how old you are. Myself? I have been with the community online and off for the last 15 years, and had my awakening at birth. It I know for a fact, lasted until I was about 10 years old. Personally I am in my 30's just to give you a heads up.

I am not trying to test your steel, but if you are going to call out, you should expect this type of reply, as it does partain to the "embassador" speach I gave earlier.

I do give props to ~Wolfkiller~ on the analogy of blood and the cigarette...I am still laughing about that one.

I am very much in agreeance with Morri's post, since this entire thread is speculation, as there really is no proof to anything involved, save for what we read on and offline, then there really is no way to prove that we exist.

As always there will be quite the conjecture to any and all things said within this thread, as the entire spool of it is up for all debate openly...Nothing is ever a be all end all issue. So please, bare with us and ask question accordingly without all that bashing the "living vampire". You have questions, we always have answers...Whether or not they are the answers you sought for, well, that is another question.

I too have come a a bit of a conclusion, though I will keep mine brief and avoid the essay format. First of all let me point out that we are on the internet. Yes, that's right.
Everyone seems to have their own solid opinions, which is fair, everyone is allowed their own opinion. Since this is the internet, we have no way of proving who is more right. One may claim to be a "true vampire", but they have no way of proving it other than posting their best and most persuasive argument. I personally have been on this sight for a very long time (longer than my profile says) and have seen many people come and go who come on here, take the podium and say that only they know the truth and that everyone else is ignorant. I've heard it all before, we all have, so let's agree to disagree, believe what we wish, and keep our own opinions without forcing them on others.

Morrigan I will not say I know that not everyone needs to feed because gifted though I am at watching people and guessing things about them and I am also a bit of an empath if you believe in such things even with those talents at my disposal I cant sense what everyone needs to do. However what I can tell you is that not many people I know will fall ill if they do not on a regular bases take in energy from another being in the form of blood or prana.

Ok wow a very long but well thought out post. First off I am glad to meet some one here that knows a good bit about the community. I honestly didn’t mean to come off as so preachy and looking back yes I do seem to say that what I am talking about is the view of the vampire community as a whole. Any how I did simplify a lot of very complex issue because A) I didn’t have time to expand on them and B) didn’t want to venture it to the murky world of speculation on a lot of those issues with out proper research. Any how I did make one error which you pointed out and that is that Sangs don’t NEED human blood and can make do with animal blood. Not being a Sang myself I don’t know this for sure but what I do know is that a very rare steak or a dish like blood pudding or sausage will help get them by. I should have stated this a little more clearly. Now as for my age I am 22 years old soon to be 23. Also I cannot say that I was fully awakened at 16 but this is when the process started for me. It is when I first became aware of the fact that something was odd about me. I first attributed it to being a growing teenage and nothing more, and then I saw my doctor because I was feeling ill ALL of the time even though I should have been perfectly healthy. The only time I felt better was when I went to large crowded areas or was in close contact with my girlfriend who seemed to get tired all of the time when we cuddled but then again I wrote those off as odd and nothing more. So after being tested by my doc for various things he told me to get more sleep and take a multivitamin. I did and nothing changed so I figured that it was all in my head and learned to deal with it. I came across the website www.sanguinarius.org at the end of school that year in my research on Pagan and occult topics for a world religions class I was taking. I don’t remember how it popped up but I know I clicked on it expecting a laugh. However what I found was a little to close to what I was feeling and going through. I ran from that idea as fast as I could because at the time I was a staunch Christian and well such a thing couldn’t be or if it was it was the work of the devil. Later that summer I ran across the book the psychic vampire codex and well after that I did a lot of soul searching and joined the Sanguinarius website because I could no longer deny how true all of it sounded. Thus began my admittance to what I am. Then I grew a little bolder and began to not just lurk but post on the site and that was around the time of my seventeenth birthday. Now mind you all of these times are relative because of my memory for dates being poor so these things could be give or take a month or so. As for any question I have overlooked well be sure to give me an e-kick to answer it. I am as I said glade to have someone like you to respond and make corrections to anything I gloss over. Again I am humbled by your wisdom. Yes I am fully aware that to awaken is an on going process and frankly the best state for any one is to be an ongoing student. Now as for choosing my words wisely well it is something I should have know a little better than to gloss over the things I did but this post is something I have waited some time to do. You see I almost lost a good friend to a few idiots that thought that to be a vampire was about killing and drinking blood. They told her all sorts of things about turning her and such. Well on the night that they said that they would turn her they cut a little too deep when drawing blood and she was put in the hospital for sever blood loss. No one knew what happened when she was found half conscious ditched on the side of a road by her older brother that decided to look for her because he was worried about her new friends and the odd things she had been into after meeting them. He ended up asking me to talk to her because well they wanted the truth and they figured she might talk to me. I never did find out who these idiots where because she wouldn’t give names. So they walk around free people still a danger to anyone that falls victim to their foolish notions. From that day forth I have wanted to clear up the foolish notions many have about vampirism. This post was the first time I felt comfortable enough in what I know to really raise a voice. But typically of any student attempting to teach for the first time I botched some things. May there always be those older or wiser than me to correct me when I do fall short of the mark.

I have totally enjoyed this discussion, you are a very young and want to be heard ( no offense to be given here) . Sometimes things in life are not excepted by most and to want to be popular or excepted for what you are is not always the best, humans and animals alike tend to regress from things that are differant and eventually destroy what they don't understand. It is wrong but that is how it has always been. I would love to be excepted by my surrounding community but it has always been better to be left alone. If someone finds out they ask alot of questions and try to make it look like some kind of disease or scientific explanation but there isn't always a answer to everyones question and you can't go around and disect what you don't understand. Growing up my mother moved me over 30 times by the the age of 13 to hide me. I was born this way its not a disease or some condition or a genetic defect its what I am and I have never been excepted for who I am or in this case what peeps think I am. Myself I don't care what people think just as they leave me alone and don't condemn me to death.

What happens if you get your DNA tested?
Why do you want to receive blood if at all?
Have you met another vampire like you besides online?
What were they like?

Actually anubislight it is a addiction because when one goes without the addiction they become sick or have drawbacks.

My mom has tried to quite and she has serious drawbacks and feels sick and unhealthly like you when you do not drink from a blood source.

Annan: I would think the addiction to close contact with a donor, the special intimate attention, and the trust that goes into cutting someone and taking blood from them is what people feel that they "need".

This well-stated paragraph explains my stance on the subject completely.

The need to justify this "preference" by aligning oneself with a fictional and much maligned creature is what mystifies me.

AnubisLight - ok from what I am understanding is that you were actually born human like everyone else and than you were having problems as a juvenile along with medical issues which led you to searching online for answers because no one would give you any. Your religion at the time was deceiving you because you didnt have any proof of that either (I know been there and still there) You found your answers at the site which led you to your awakening.

vlad the impaler was not a vampire. There have been mumerous threads in the forums on the subject of good ol' vlad and people still get the history confused with the fiction thanks to the wonderful author Bram Stoker using Vlad as his muse for Dracula but the 2 are differant in many ways Vlad the Impaler vs Dracula

ah i see you get confuse easily so ill sum it up ok one valad use to dip his bread in blood from his enimies.
however in the old times many people would get it confused as vamprism.

My OPINION is that vampirism is a life style choice that you choose or it chooses you.
If you choose it - you can walk away...
If it chooses you - that is your character and a natural part of your nature. It can be evil or not.
My OPINION is that Sangs have other issues that are deeper than vampirism.
It is one thing to get carried a way in drawing energy from an intimate encounter (that does not always mean sex) and taking in fluids - but to actually yearn for blood in a world of deceases that don't go away - is close to suicidal.
Empath feelings / second sight / a sixth sense / whatever you want to call it - is real. This is why we get a "funny feeling" sometimes about our kids or loved ones and find out we had reason to worry.
This is what draws the "Psy" vamp into being.
Again - this is only my OPINION and I do not quantify any statement with online support.

Perhaps some should wait a little longer to post to forums when they wish to 'lay the Law down.' One will find that the truth is not all cut and dry at such a young age. "Agreeing to Disagree" on this subject is often best. This is also the reason why we, here on VR, will discuss the many topics of vamps instead of the "A Real Vampire is" topic.
