I know we get this over and over again in the forums, but I never seem to find something nice about spirits. How they can be positive.

Every post I have seen about people's ghost "problems" have irritated me lately. It seems that everyone thinks that a ghost should be exorsied or "gotten Rid of".

This is the part that irks me. If the spirit isn't hurting anyone then why get rid of it? Why force it to leave? Some spirits can be helpful and even protective. Ghosts can be a wonderful blessing.

My ghost George and his brother Fred protect me. George has been in my life for as long as I can remember. I used to talk to him every night before going to sleep. I always felt safer with him near me than most living people. He's a bit of a prankster, but he's NEVER in the history (several generations) of my family hurt anyone in or outside my family.

I strongly believe that if you tell teh spirit that it is YOUR home and that they are welcome to stay, but must abide by your rules then there is no reason they should ever be exorsed.

Now my question to everyone here is this:

Do you have a ghost? If you do, do you enjoy said ghost's company?
If not, Would you think you would want a ghost to leave regardless if its intention?

I have a ghost..I'v never talked to it or anything. But i'v seen it..He's harmless. I would never try and get it to leave.

Well I'm not quite sure if I have a ghost... I don't think I do, but if I did, it would depend on the situation to determine if I want it to leave or not. I guess if it's up to no good then I would want it to leave because I won't want something bad to happen and then if it was up to good then I would want it to stay.

I have ghosts that are harmless they open and close the back door and walk up and down the stairs. They also will move things around sometimes. They are harmless and welcome to stay here as long as they want

There was one in the house I grew up in, a prankster, I miss having him arround, and no we never tried to get rid of him, and I wish he could have moved with us.

I am so glad to hear that there are people who don't jump at the first chance to make them leave!

Exactly! Thought there have been thread after thread about how to get rid of ghosts, but none about the positive things about having ghosts!

I for one am looking into way I can become a ghost when I die rather than “move on”
I don’t believe in the ideas given of heaven for logical reasons, I do feel dimensions are more the answer.
I have had said near death experience twice and feel I will know what to do when I do die.
The desire to move ghost on into the light is wrong and based on ignorance and a agenda to remove spiritual rights and transplant another concept… theres lol

For centuries we spoke with our ancestors and the spirits are good and in everything around us.
I feel the ignoring a ghost and move on into the light comments very very sad.
After listening to the child ghost on ghost hunters Brenda’s house … they said “they don’t want us” broke my heart I don’t believe there is a heaven it’s just a religious lie.
Im not saying there isn’t something… I just find the monopoly on it deceitful.

We have not one, but at least 4 ghosts where I work. I love them all. They like to hide things which can be annoying, but is usually fun. They also like to make noises or call a persons name to entertain the new people. Once in a while they will turn off a light or slam a door, but they have never harmed anyone other than to perhaps make them soil themselves. LOL I have personally seen one of them on several occasions.I find their antics to be very amusing even when they happen to me. I would never try to make them leave. That would make work sooo boring.

Some ghosts watch out for you, they wake you when you got o bed without locking the door, or wake you when a child is ill, I have had many positive experiences with them also.

As I have stated before I don't mind spirits or "ghosts" in my house as long as they dont mess with my kids. As soon as they do they are out I dont care if they were harmless to me.

i dont look as it as forceing it to leave more of helping it move on to keep the natural oder of things,besides i know when i die i would want some one to help me move on

I agree with you whole-heartedly on this subject. I feel that ghosts should be exorcised only if they are causing problems that are of concern to one's health and well-being.

For several years I had a ghost here named Frank. I don't quite remember how I reached contact with him, but once I got used to his presence, I considered him to be one of my buddies. He was a pleasant guy. After a while we "parted ways" so to speak, when he left to help another spirit I was communicating with enter the light and go back to her family.

This experience has lead me to believe that not only can ghosts/spirits protect us, but we can be of help to them as well. I'm sure it can get lonely in the afterlife and they probably enjoy having a friend around, even if they don't communicate with each other. Just the presence of each other is enough to make both individuals feel more comforted.

And now that I've made myself sound like a total nutjob, I'm off to the next post. *grin*

I have a ghost in my kitchen... she doesn't know she's dead...she's harmless and we don't initiate contact with her...

restless spirits are there for a reason... she needs to find her reason on her on...

Its her kitchen and I ain't pissing her off... she was there before me.

You should not banish spirits , they only move on to the next person i carry the spirit of Sebastian

I understand your frustration that nobody is speaking of good spirits.

I do have several spirits that have been with me a very long time. Two of them now visit and watch over my eldest child. Me children each have their own spirits as well. We do speak with them and honestly treat them as family members, even honoring them in our sabbats

However, the reality is that sometimes people have spirits that are harming them in some way. Usually by scarring them. Now, I will first tell people to take a stand - yell at the spirit if you must. Lay the ground rules out. "This is NOT acceptable behavior" or my son had to use "This is my bedtime, you are not welcome to play here now"

However, there are times when a spirit needs to leave the area. (Especially if they are causing harm or scarring small children)

No I do not have a ghost, and I never had, but it would be good to have one, I would not ask it to leave, I would ask it to stay and I would try to engage a more complex dialogue/interaction with the ghost, in order to gain more experience, and learn from it. I am sure that it would be an awesome opportunity to study it, and a great time experiencing its nature.

I would not want it to leave unless it was trying to bring harm to me or my cats.

We live in a very old house and there a few ghosts here. It was their home before it was ours. They are welcome.

I do not "have a ghost" as you put it, but if I did I wouldn't want it to leave, as long as it wasn't hurting any one or any thing. I mean being around a spirit of someone that has passed could be a learning experience.

I have been in houses that had harmless, yet prankster spirits and they were always welcome.

I think a majority of people's problem is that a ghost or spirit represents death and many, many people although may boast otherwise fear death. So hence they wish to get rid of the said spirit haunting their home.

Personally I have not every wished to be rid of an entity, well all bar one. In one place I lived in the entity was a negative influence. I have always been terrified of fire, but in this house I would find myself idly picking up matches or a lighter to set fire to things like pieces of paper. There was evidence of previous tenents who had similar urges due to scorch marks on the floors and even in the bathroom. I didn't get rid of the entity I just moved out.

Never have experienced ghosts in my lifetime.

The closest thing would be best described as a "spiritual presence" by my step-mom who has passed.

I "feel" her presence whenever I her picture, her name, her e-mail address, a gift she has given us...and I find my self reflecting on her and what she looks like, how she talked and laughed. It is quite a neat experience, as it makes me stop everything I am doing while I experience the presence for 5 seconds or 5 minutes.

Sounds like a residual haunting TBF. She might not even know you are there much less that she's dead. Its like watching a movie play on repeat.

I am so relieved to see so many people showing the positive side to spirits. It really makes me feel better to know that there are people who can honestly see why some people don't "move on". They might want to stay and help or be with the people they love. No harm in that.

And for most people it isn't, "helping them move on" its getting them out of the way or some other ignorance. The belief that all ghosts are bad is pure ignorance. Like racism or sexism. Just sheer stupidity.

This discussion came up in a local pagan group that I attend. A TAPS member showed up and explained how they deal with ghosts and other types of spirits.

The guy bragged how purposely upset demons and ghosts to drive them out. Most of us disagreed with his methods on two points. First, even if these ghosts were troublesome, in most cases they were dwelling in areas that humans never frequented. So, why bother them?

Second, they don't drive out ghosts, just upset them, gather data, then leave. This second point is how does this help anybody.

Going back to your discussion, many of live in family homes and don't want to banish the family spirits that live there.

I live in my deceased grandma's house. I don't see any ghosts, but sometimes I hear walking or feel a presence. A friend also sensed a small cat or other creature too. Nothing bothers me at night and the presence actually makes me feel closer to my roots.

It might be enjoyable to have a ghost, lest it be a poltergeist.

However, it also depends on who the ghost was of.

Say, it wouldn't be nice to have a ghost of a murderer or anything of the like.

A TAPS member bragged about how he banished demons? That doesn't sound at all like anyone in a TAPS family. Sounds more like paranormal state to me. That kids jumps to any conclusion possible.

That's crazy. Your right, there's no reason to drag them out to banish them if they are somewhere out of the way where no one dwells. That's pointless.

Now I do know that TAPS will often harrass a ghost to provoke it into activity. Now, this isn't saying the ghost is bad, they are trying to get it to prove it exists.

Does it bother you to (possibly) have that Spirit?

i have never seen or herd a spirit but i know lots of people that say they have but my thoughts on it is spirits if they do exist should be left alone they are just like us looking for a place to belong in this world..

Right. There are so many reasons they should be either left alone or welcomed. Its endless.

That's exactly my point. All I ever see are posts asking how to just get them out. As far as I know this is the only post about the positive aspects of spirits in the home.

I have a spirit in my house. Actually I'm not sure if you call it a spirit, ghost or what. But she is an indian woman, and I know that sounds wierd, but it's true. I would never want her to leave. She is a comforting spirit. By this I mean, she shows up when she wants to, but if I am really stressed out, sad, mad or upset or something she shows up more frequently. When she does, it's like I calm down. Maybe she is a calmer if there is such a thing.

You know I agree with completely. Now before saying all you hear is bad that is always. Look how much bad you hear about police or politicians or your own friends. Most people don't say "Johnny down the street helped me fix my car" but if Johnny did something bad then there going to complain. I believe there are a lot more open minded people about this then we think. Look at this post and Taps and everytihng else now. People are coming around but by many religions Ghosts don't exist so any manifestation is not good to them. Not that I agree with them but no way to change there faith. At least not easily. i do not have one... and if i did i wouldnt try ti get rid of it... i would welcome it... the only reasoni would have of getting rid of one is if i had children and they where upsetting them

Autumngallows - I'm sure that this TAPS guy didn't give a good representation of TAPS, but he turned me off to what they do. I never really got into that show on Sci Fi channel either.

He claimed he was a Discordian - someone who believes in chaos - not a good mix for dwelling demons and other ghosties.

alixaryon- you are ignorant. What is that bullshit about smell? That sounds like something racist and has nothing to do with spirits at all. I'd appriciated it if you kept such things to yourself. Tell us you'd banish it and leave it alone. You've succeeded in only offending me and pissing me off.

Pepper- Well, don't let one ruin the bunch. Theya ren't the original members and TAPS have the same view that I do. If there is no danger, no reason to baish them.

LostKitten- I do believe there is such a thing. My ghost protects me, comforts me, and makes me laugh. He's my best friend.
She comes to you when you need her most. Perhaps she is a spirit guide?

Like I've said, I've got one that's with me all the time and one that comes and goes as needed. I'd love them both to stay with me. =] I can't wait until my boyfriend gets pranked by George. He won't know what to do. lol

My ghost is my brother that died 10 years ago and I enjoy having him around immensely and feel totally protected when he is around.

i have two beings surrounding me,almost all of the time.even when i cant see them,i feel them.

one of them is a type of guardian,i believe.he tries to keep me safe,and talks me out of certain things.

the other...hes evil,i think.hes made me try to do things i normally wouldnt do.he says im his,no one elses.hes tried to hurt me,and he keeps me awake,screaming a blood curtling scream late into the night.

the two beings...they fight.one wants to save me,the other wants me dead,so i can forever be his.

the guardian...he was killed at the age of sixteen by his father.he was beaten to death,and thats why i think i have him.i go through the same thing he did,and for it,he wants to see me safe.

the other...the one with the bad attitude...he murdered his wife and child.im not sure when or where,but ive seen the images over and over.ill be looking at the wall in my room,and itll flash into his old house,his wife trying to defend the six month old child,til shes hit hard with a shovel,and tied.then,he makes her watch as he tortures the baby to death,then slits both her throat and his.


i personally think that the guardian should get to pass on into the next world,and be treated as he deserves.he should get another chance,be reborn into a family that will treat him like the angel he is.

the other..i think he should have to face judgement,and be punished for his acts of evil.


i want the evil being to be gone,but the guardian,he can stay if he likes.i want to see him move into a better world,but he can do as he wishes.




i dont think its right for someone to want a spirit that isnt doing anything wrong to be banished.if theyre of an evil nature,its alrite for them to be forced to face judgement.

I have a ghost(s) in my house. Sometimes I'll wake up to someone walking around downstairs, doors slamming, someone calling my name, and to an almost icy cold room. When I was a child I used to play hide-and-seek with one in our basement. But he always hid in the same spot... behind the couch. lol. But he has since moved on. The first one I mentioned, I don't know if it means harm or not. It most definatly scares the sh*t out of me. And if it starts to harm anyone in this house, it will be exercised for sure. But, I would never get rid of a ghost if it wasn't harming someone in the house, or scarring the children..

Spirits can be a blessing just as much as they can eb a curse. I find that there are so many that are positive rather than negative.

I beleive they can protect, help with spells, among many other things. Mine makes me laugh more foten then not.

I have never figured out why so many people are afraid of ghost ect. I feel that if a entity was good when alive it will still be harmless after death of it's physical being....

Not sure if I have a spirit with me at the time. Am thinking not as I have had nothing to tell me I have. However with that said I have lived in many homes that spirits inhabited. Never did I attempt or wish to banish them. Once I did purify the house with sage and request that they quit playing with my daughter as they were freaking her out a bit to the point where she could not sleep. After the purification though never had another problem and we were able to live in harmony.

If it meant no harm..Id not want it to leave.

I actually like certain spirits. Some are not harmful or mean. Some mean well, and don't even know they are spirits. Did anyone ever stop to think that we may scare them as well?

Autumn and I have talked about this outside of the Forums. I think that we all have Spirits and just some of us don't ever get to see nor hear them.

Trying to Banish a spirit is a terrible thing. They are there for a reason. Plus if they wanted to hurt you, they could and you wouldn't even know what hit you...

They are familiar spirits usually bound to a certain place. If they don't mind you being in their space, then you shouldn't mind having them there if that's where you choose to live.

Place some herbs amongst the home, and banish evil spirits, but welcome good ones, if it stays yaaaa you must have a good one in your home, and you should welocme them.

the spirit that lives in my home has decided to attach himself to my family we have moved twice since we first have encountered him and he has come with us both times i would never get rid of him for the world

I have had several encounters with spirits in my life time, several were bad from bad kharma and I believe those should be exorcized i.e. released so they can move on.

The others were harmless and did nothing to deserve being banished.

Maybe the problem is in the wording ?

Banishing a Spirit which you believe is the cause of harm is one thing.

Leading/showing a Spirit the way home is something else.

From time to time Spirits visit for one reason or another.

I can't think of a good reason for a Spirit to be around us constantly making itself known for no particular reason.

Like many I believe in an ordered universe...a place for everyone and everyone in their place.

Without such order there is no purpose.

UtahVamp - What sort of herbs would you suggest?

I've encountered some that weren't so nice and I've been terrified to do a cleansing of spirits in fear that I'd loose my George.

As long as there not harming anyone, there should be no reason to banish or cleanse them.

I live in an old family home, and we have quite a few here....they cause us no problems, except the occasional surprise...and showing up when you least except them to.

If we leave the spirits alone they will usually leave us alone.

I feel the same about ghosts as I do abot bugs. They're there and you can't get rid of them. If they're doing good, leave them be. If they're doing harm, they must be dealt with but overall, they leave me alone and i'll leave them alone.

Never exactly looked at it that way, but that's a good point.

im glad that there are other people that feel as i do and are happy to live with their ghosts. i have said in one other post that i love my ghosts and would not want them to leave for anything in this world or the next

_I'm not sure if I have a ghost or not, but I do know that I have what I like to call, little gremlins, who like to take my things. They always do it, and then, in the last minute, will give it back. Yeah...maybe it is a ghost, maybe not, but I like them, keeps me on my toes. Teehee. Toes_

I don't have a ghostly companion but I have been around them... In my experience I have never felt threated in anyway.... I love the feeling I get when they are around...

My best friend's brother died pretty young and she was haunted by him for a while. Nothing unpleasant, just the occasional room lights dimming then brightening etc.

She consulted a psychic who relayed a few familiar messages that held some import to her and her parents. After which they said their goodbyes and he was gone.

i agree completely. if the ghost is a troubled spirit that needs help to move on to the next plane, then spritual guidance or counselling would be a kind act, but to simply banish a ghost without any good cause or thoughts as to where they are banished to is as good as committing murder.

I have a couple of spirits, one that follows me and doesn't really like electronics just about every electronic thing that I have touched like computers, cars, Xbox, etc.. they have either died or got wiped clean, ( like the hard drive on a computer), I have one in my house my sister has seen her, shes about 7 years of age doesn't talk or seem to move ( have seen her in different spots) she just stands there and looks at you like why are you in my house.

Why try to get rid of a spirit if it is not hurting you?

My theory is, is that people are afraid of the unknown, or are afraid of the dark, and that is usually why they want the spirit beings gone.

Me, personally, I don't mind spirits living in my house. Unless, they are trying to hurt my family. Now that is a different story.

I feel that ghosts or spirits are left here because they do not know how to move on or they have unfinished business here. I would try to help them move on and go to their next level of existance, so they could continue on in their path.

I just don't understand why someone would want to get rid of a spirit for no good reason. If it is causing harm, yes. But if it isn't causing any harm, just let it be.

I got some weird things going on , I think I brought about by using my board .

i don't have a ghost but if i did and if it was a friendly ghost then no i wouldn't want to get rid of it

I'm with Kon on that one. If it's friendly and means no harm leave it be. Chances are it was their home before it was yours, and they may not know what's going on. You may be scaring them.

some live in denial that they are dead and just don't "know" yet. why banish them to a place that they are not aware of?

That's exactly my point.

They have positive points to being there and perhaps they have reason to be. So many people just want them gone. Like a puppy that chews on someone's shoes.

I have never resided with a spirit in my house, but if one day I move into a house and that happens...Then if it's not causing any problems I don't see why I should get rid of it. If it causes disturbance, then I wold try to make it more...tranquil, in some way, if I could, and if not...Then getting rid of it would be the last resort.

There are some harmful spirits and I'd understand if then they need to be exorsied. but only as a last resort.

my feeling is the world would be a lot more empty without them.

We have a ghost who likes to change the region code on the dvd player and turn the computer off and on. I have never seen it but it did speak once and it called me a b!tch. I wasn't too happy about it being here after that.

Insults are one thing, but if it gets phsyical that's another.

Just tell it, "Look, this is MY home now. You are welcome to stay, but things go by my rules now."

not all giest are there to do harm..some are there in remembernce of something that has happend there in the life they lived.....some giest are there for the wrong reasons bt useally it dose not mean any harm to nothing or no one.....

We do have a ghost in our house I actually believe two in fact! It's my two sisters and I that live here! Our spirits have never been any problem at all they like to do something mischievous once in awhile but it doesn't bother us in the least bit! They are however protective over us and if some one enters the house they don't like we know it!

I have lived with ghosts many times in my life. I enjoyed having them around. I have never lived with "evil" spirits , though I have seen , been attacked, etc.....by them.

is there a way to remove a demon from somone and lock them in a pentagram without person knowing?

I kinda think it is importent to get the ghost away even if they are friendly because i think they are trapped between 2 sides. So they need a push forward to whatever is after this life.

PanterVamp- Not all ghosts are here because they are stuck. Some spirits are here because they wish to be and some aren't technically here at all. Ther residential haunting is a scene or a memory imprinted on an object or place and its like putting a scene on repeat.

masterseth- That isn't what this thread is about....and you can't do anything to anyone without their consent or knowledge. Also, As far as I know...you can't trap a demon in things..To my knowledge anyway...you just ahve to send them back to hell or where-ever they came from according to your belief.

yes you can banish a spirt only if does harm to you or the ones you love

I owned a home once that had a good spirit.. he watched over the house and made sure that all was well there and plaied silly jokes here and there on the people who lived there..

i think you can banish it if you really want to.

if you think u cant, u never will.

How or if you can isn't what we are talking about.

We are talking about people exorsing spirits to simple have the out of teh way with no other apparent reasoning.

PLEASE read the starting post and then make a response...even if you are just posting to get more posts.
