If the existence of Vampires was proven and they decided to make a pact with humans stipulating that all hard labor would be completed by Vampires at night if they were fed human cast offs and humans on death row, and in return they would agree to stay in secluded areas, not harming humans and coexisting with us.
What kind of repercussions would this kind of pact have?
Would you think that for the sake of survival, humans would be right in accepting this kind of agreement with a genetically stronger and superior species?
vampires is not stronger then humans. just put them in sun and they are a piece of ashes. The humans would strike the vampnest with rockets at the day. That is for the fiction vamps. For the real vamps i dont see what this question is all about because they are humans as we others. So why make a deal?
But i see your point:) I seriously doubt there would be a pact. But if play with the thought if so do i really wonder what benefits humans would get out from it? I think that is a pact the vampires have more reasons to want upholded then the humans.
Sorry my point might not have been too clear..
I was referring to giving up certain things to be able to survive in a world where the existence of stronger beings is known.
So would you give up a cast off in order to survive, even though it's a human.
hmm good question. I think yes if find the opposite stronger. But it is a tricky thing. If it would do matter in good ways i would take it in considerations.
Well if it was proven that vampires exist which we know is not true, I still dont see a pact being made. The reason is we as humans are not very trusting and would not believe they would keep thier word
I think that if a pact was to take place, under those circumstances, it may lead to negative veiw of vampires. Not everyone is for death row, but perhaps if blood banks could provide the said blood for the treaty, it may benifit both species.
Such a pact would not be ethically plausible.. It would also put humans at a disadvantage.. Kind of like being blackmailed for all eternity.. And who will be the judge and jury on who will be the given up as discarded or not worthy of their human rights.. Remember, even the man on dead row is entitled to his human rights..
I think the humans would find a way to revolt...most likely.
If a pact were to exist, it would not be honored for long. Humans have always found ways to obfuscate their true intentions. And I can only imagine, Vampires being former humans, would be similar.
i think that having vampires do heavy labor at night wouldn't work. they wouldn't put up with that, they'd be almost as slaves and vampires would not do well with that. if any kind of pact were to occur it'd be something to do with equality. maybe humans can dominate the daytime and vampires the nighttime.
i dont think it would work, why, cause they would be lyed to make pacts and humans would kill the pacts much eaxier
Like any treaty, it would not be worth the ink and paper it would be written upon. Members of both sides would not agree with every part of the pact and there would be descention of the members, no matter the overall benefits to both sides.
Plus a bunch of humans would be out of jobs. Instead of sending jobs overseas or giving them to immigrants, the undead would be stealing work.
It would have to be a specialized labor that no one else wants to do.
Why would vamps want to do the nasty work? It would take extraordinary organizational efforts on the part of the vamp leadership to bring the vampires together on this --- they'd have to be convinced, as a group, that it was in their best interests, and a way for them to be accepted.
There would be special legislation dealing with non-discrimination --- hate crimes and such.
Just think, there might someday be vampire political leaders.
outside of those on death row, and forgetting for a minute the ones who are exonerated after a death sentence, who are the cast offs? Who would decide who the castoffs are?
Would white males decide who were the castoffs? I think we know what that result would be!
Not a bit plausible. There would be a revolt on both sides for sure, who wants to do the dirty work? And both sides would be subjected to doing just that. I think with so many religious views that the humans would never allow others no matter what their crime be a feast for someone or something else. Vampires as slaves?? Nope.
Assuming you're talking about Hollywood vampires, in which case who says that they would want to be part of that kind of a pact? They'd be reduced to little more than garbage collectors, living of the dregs and scum of humanity. No self-respecting vampire would agree to that.
Humans are intolerant of anything which can threaten them. As Xenophobia.... We would try to kill them off. As a wild bear or cayote is killed off when it kills or attacks a human. Such a treaty will never stand. As humans we're assholes. Whether we diserve it is besides the point. We would kill them off, study a few. then be done with them.
It would be a interesting gesture and to be honest not enough death row people … plus who wants the dammed anyway innocent woman screaming through the grave yard is so much more appealing than some unfortunate byproduct of society.
Having only night shifts is also bring attention to differences that shouldn’t matter.
I don’t see why the Dark Gods need a symbiotic relationship with it’s food?
What next cows pact not to mistaken for pat lol
no because they'd think the vampires would go back on their word, even though humans are or would probably be the less trustworthy of the 2 species,...and humans are mostly stupid, especially in large groups...a large mob would probably gather and buy some pitchforks on ebay, intending to chase the vampires out of town or something...i think relations would eventually get sour, if the pact were made, people would pick at tiny details, things would get strained, and human rights activists would probably get involved and become very ticked that humans are being fed to vampires...especially if the vamps, didn't ever just feed, but killed possibly unnecessarily or feeding hurt or something...since the needle's supposed to be oh so humane...
slaughterme,
What if the cause is for the 'greater good'?
Ethical dilemmas have a habit of being pushed to the side in favour of the bigger questions of need. Humanity is notorious for it's moral ambiguity.
I'd like to think there would be a compromise.
Maybe something like a voluntary donor service.
I can imagine people actually queueing up.
With so many donors maybe the vampires would'nt actually have to kill ?
I agree that both sides would most likely have difficulties sticking to a pact of such, after all the world does seem to be in a constant power struggle.
In a treaty, such as this, the human side of it would be "selling out" it's weakest for personal gain; this does not bode well for the trustworthyness of the humans.
Most people know that almost all contracts are broken when it is more feasable to break the contract and pay any penalty than it is to keep the contract at a loss. When the contract has fullfilled it's purpose to one sides advantage... that side BREAKS it.
This nearly ALWAYS occurs in human relations.
Humans would be foolish to engage in such a contract as the humans would become more and more weakened as years go by, whilest the vampires would gather more and more power by the lazyness.
Vampires would not feal any regret in betraying their herd when it best suited them, as humans have already betrayed themselves.
If I were in this scenario from the vampiric side... as a coup degras before enslaving teh etirety of the world... i would corrupt the society to such a point that the entirety of the populace would legally fall under my feeding authority. We as a culture are not to far from that slippery slope now... with the current "Illumaniti."
Human cast offs, death row... No way. What if you were one of those?
Blood banks, maybe, but I certainly wouldn't be donating...
The thought that such things would be possible.
What is a better existence?
To be known for what you are?
Or to be thought non-existent, being able to move unseen, unhindered by rules of a temporal society, if you yourself, had seen the fall of every empire before hand.
Assuming one was alive for even a hundred years, the changes in the world have been so drastic, that the world is not the same, in even the most remote places which had since been unchanged for thousands of years?
If you know that all things which come, must fall, then why on this green planet, would you give that power of anonymity over to the governmental forces and bonds which are sad to say more then likely on their way out in the next hundred years or so. What is better? to be able to move free as you wish, within the confines of higher reason? or to be fed like a common pet, being forced into manual labor?
*shrugs* I am not for slavery of any form. But if it were down to it, then i would rather be the slave to a vampire corporation, instead of being fed castoffs from those societies, like a dog. Then whose to say, who is castoff from society?
Felons? Homosexuals? Non-Christians? Jews? Arabs?
I've come across some works of fiction implying such a pact with unearthly races. Well, given that the vampires you are referring to are much stronger than humans in the first place then why would they bother lower and bind themselves to mortal laws and agreements? They could easily be ruling over the world at their own discretion and secrecy. But that's just a matter of opinion and imagination. But for the sake of discussion, if such a pact does come to pass, I think ‘’human sacrifices’’ will not be far from impossible. I mean it doesn’t sound all too different from death sentences and the like. Plus the world leaders would be drawing advantages from two sides of the coin: getting rid of so-called castoffs (population control) and appeasing the vampires. As for my personal view on the idea, I’m against the idea of ‘sacrificing’ people; I don’t think it’s up to us to decide on anyone’s fate. Also, I don’t think either of the humans or vampires are going to stay faithful to the pact. Eventually somebody from either side is going to get dissatisfied and going to tip the scale and break the pact, and I can only imagine what will happen next.
I think that would be a great Idear, mostly because the scumbags on death row would get whats coming to them.
To everyone that claims Blood Banks is the way to go: Your thinking, but your thinking optimistically.... I'm a blood donor, and blood is scarce and damn expensive. Not enough people donate as it is, and the market for blood is ridiculous... The cost of the manufacturers for the baggies w/ coagulent (so I'm told) is round 300 bucks. plus additional expenses (profit) and overhead and such.... I don't see people storming the hospitals to donate as it is...
What? make it manditory? Infringements of liberties...need I continue?
And as for the record: Not EVERYONE On Deathrow Is Guilty! People have been given the great "We're Sorry, Ooops" after YEARS of imprisonment. What then? Child Molesters? That's a great idea -Even children have lied....!!!
I'm sure many humans would have a problem with it. Me, I'm not sure.
I agree with you onyx, it would be an interesting movie or book.
Human society has a history of capitulation to conquerors that usally ends in revolt or assimilation. T
This also sounds like some ancient religious rituals that included human sacrifice. Keep the gods happy by feeding them virgins or in this case keep the vamps happy by feeding them cast offs.
Outside of the regular feedings, the vampires don't gain much here. I would suspect that over time the vamps would stop doing the work and just expect the feedings. If the humans feared the vamps, humans would do nothing about it and continue with the sacrifices. Eventually the humans would stop providing the sacrifices, if for no other reason lack of discipline.
If the vamps were strong enough, they may well attempt to then conquer the humans. If the humans were strong enough, the would attempt to anihilate the vamps. Perhaps the vamps would go back to feeding like they alwasy had.
I don't think that pact would work out at all. But it would be a good idea for both sides to try to make some kind of agreement of coexistences. If they could not then the world could fall and be over run by vampires and on the flip side of that if there where no humans what would vampires feed on?
i'm not so sure if vampires would agree to be lower than people. that seems a little extreme to me
i don't think there would be a pact either side would screw the other side over , if it looked like they were not getting there way,
there would be promises on each side but more then likely neither side would keep them, basic instinct
If all hard labor was done by vampires, then a lot of humans would be out of jobs. Lots of them.
I think that, if the vampires were strong and had the ability to take over the area, then there wouldn't be alternatives as good as that offer, so it would be alright for humans to take that.
I do not think a pact would be formed period. We live in a raceul world where its hard to do anything with anyone with out complaints on something
I agree with you Kontradiction, it is sort of a ridiculous idea, but if since it deals with fiction and we want to go with the flow, it may be a good start of a book or a movie.
I don't think vampires want to be treated like pets and given food when they preform a task.
It wouldn't work at all...as humans, we can't even stick to pacts we make between each other!
Yes Isis, but it would make a great movie or book. Vamps in an agreement that they can't maintain, humans, the greedy suns a whatever that we are don't have the discipline to provide the sacrifices.
World War III. Not betweeen comunists and capitalists but between vamps and humans. Protect the women and children, here they come...
The Idea has merit. But there would need to be a fail safe on the human end. Some way to keep the pact functioning evenly. There would need to be a board of human governors along with The elder and makers ruling class. Each side would need to bag out the Guidelines. But the humans would need a genetic fail safe to ensure no one side has an advantage over the other.
Maybe we should turn it into a book and then a multimillion $ movie 10241024.
