Does this really work? Have you tried it? Have you ever wondered about it? This is the same one from the movie "The Craft".
Levitation Spell:
This is white magic, and it is interesting. If you have two friends over, have one lay on the floor face up. You and the other friend put your hands under them and start chanting:
"Light as a feather, stiff as a board." (repeat over and over)
Start very loudly, then get softer until you are saying it in your mind.
Your friend will slowly start levitating.

That was a movie and she had strings or whatever hooked up to her and I've tried that lighter than a feather chant when I was a kid with my brothers and it never worked
did it not work, because you didn't believe it or is it a flawed spell
Yeah, but if you believe something isn't going to work, then it won't. I've seen people actually do it and there were no strings. I was speechless because the girl being lifted was a little over 200 pounds. I didn't participate because I was really weirded out by it.
They didn't have the nerve to remove their fingers from underneath of her so I kind of have to wonder if the girl would have fell or not.
I think it is nothing more than one of those teenager stories that was told to give teens the idea that they are performing magik. The more people that are there lifting the subject, makes the person being lifted lighter to lift, giving the appearance that they are levitating.
oh believe me we did we wanted to see if it would work but it never did
i wonder how much energy and emotion had to go into...
were you scared, Dire?
The whole thing was crazy. I didn't like being there because I couldn't grasp what was honestly happening. I was 14 when it happened.
There were only four people with their fingers under her. They wanted it to work, believed it would and had no doubts. That's the only thing I can think of that would possibly make it work. I still don't understand it.
well, i personal believe that if you believe hard enough and without doubts it will work
i have not tried this yet so i can't say if it works or not
That might be where things went south for me. I have a "show me" persona and tend to be very untrusting.
If it works for you, I most definitely want to know.
Show me. LOL :)
I had a thread going about this last year and YES it does work from my experience. When my sisters and i were kids my mom and aunts used to always do this and we would watch. They lifted my aunt 4 foot off the ground and she was no small woman. Then as we got older we would do it with the same results.
I believe that levatation will work, I just dont think this is the right spell
could be..... might have to write my own.... *licks pencil*
I had some friends that tried that and No it doesnt work. Movie magic.
I don't believe Levitation works no matter if you believe in it or not HellHath but then again thats my own personal opinion.
I am not convinced it works as some would claim it does, being a group event it is likely to be interpited as many things , based on the perticipants expectations. yet in a confident group dynamic.. (trusting friends) it is more likely to appear to be sucessful. a simular thing to the stone sphere in front of a temple somewhere.. the joint cooperation of those involved and the focus are very much factors in this. a board is sometimes even used to enhance the experience for the central figure..
bloody mary is another one I exploit for spook potential.. mirror have "broke", and "bleed" around me, at parlor parties.
I have seen the effect in various stages of success. I would not be convinced that it is Levitation..
I can say this, when I was a teenager...I was at my brothers house one night, we went to try the old light as a feather trick. The traditional way, me laying on my back, my other brother having been on my left, my brother of whom owns the house on my right...Their index and middle fingers touching the middle of my back. They started the regular chant...We all know what it is.
I closed my eyes as ordered then I told them I could not feel a thing. They told me to open my eyes, and apparently I was about 6 feet of the ground. But, when they took their fingers away from touching my back, I dropped to the ground...OUCH!
Apparently, when using this method of levitation, do not under any circumstances take your fingers away until the process is over with. I had back problems for about a week after that one.
i know for sure that levitation works... but it's not a spell... it's more like a spiritual power that you gain with experience... just like astral projection... there are ways and ways of doing things... but most of the so called "tutorials" to do that kind of stuff that we find in the internet are very vague...
a physics class performed the same thing with a mat underneath, it worked only with cooperative, trusting friends Soul you also broke your pose when you looked, they should have stayed in position.. idio-motor funtions are at work here, like an Oyja board it is not all paranormal, it makes me laugh when people are so desperate to have it be anything but a neat parlor exercise in group stability.
I don't know about this. I certainly would have to see it to believe it. Otherwise, it is smoke and mirrors to me. Movie magic.
here is a link, you know there is something basic here that is astonishing , without all the mystic icing.. but most just so want to be supported in their "everything is paranormal" world.
http://www.castleofspirits.com/levitation.html
Wiki is good on this one as well.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_as_a_feather,_stiff_as_a_board
i have tried it but with no luck i might be doing something wrong
one needs to be around a cooperative group a slight hesitation breaks the process, a hesitation usually caused by insecurity.
I was at a picnic and some of us did something like this. There was four of us and the person we lifted had to double our weight collectively.
He sat in a chair and we all got a piece of him. one under each arm and one under each knee.
We tried to lift him with no success.
We removed our hands and did this little thing with our hands then put them back in position.
The second time we shot him straight up several feet in the air.
From what I was told its a form of muscle memory. in the begining, your body doesnt know what its lifting weight wise...the second time around though, your body can compensate and you are able to lift the same weight with ease.
The below article was taken from
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_as_a_feather,_stiff_as_a_board
regarding the "Light as a feather, stiff as a board" trick.
Light as a feather, stiff as a board, sometimes known as lovely ness, is a game often played by children at slumber parties. One participant lies flat on the floor, and then the others space themselves around him/her, each placing a few fingers underneath his/her body. They then start chanting "light as a feather, stiff as a board" and eventually lift their friend, using what feels like surprisingly little effort. In reality, the participants are tricking their minds (a la the chanting) into believing that the person being lifted is "light as a feather". The body still reacts to the command from the brain, but the mind perceives it differently. Simply put, five (example) people can easily lift one person, especially when those five people are tricking their minds into thinking that the person is light-weight.
In one variation the person being lifted is told a story about their death and asked to imagine it happening to him/her. It serves the dual purpose of "freaking out" the participants and convinces the participants that it will be easier to lift this person.
However, it is interesting to note that in many versions, each of the (in the example) five people lifting the other person uses only one or two of his or her fingers on each hand to do the lifting. It is particularly easy to lift a heavy weight when it is evenly distributed amongst a group of four people. The phenomena of the weight seeming less on the second try around or after some sort of ritual is due to increased focus and the "lifters" being more in sync with one another.
Another reason for the apparent success of the levitation is the "self fulfilling prophecy" concept. The lifters know it's supposed to be heavy and not work the first time so subconsciously they don't put in the effort required to do the lift the first time around. The second time around they are focused and putting in the effort in order to prove to others (and even moreso themselves) that it actually works.
Todays Vocabulary word in this great thread, HUMAN DIAMAGNETISM
You know I find this to be Cake, an example of a phenomena, a relative phenomena, grant it it is not as astonishing as if the person.. floated or levitates, by some etheral force.. but their is a phenomena, in something that can create binding in a group. I mean as a device to build social interaction, I am all for the use of Parlor Games. something that has rised and faded over time. Often used to claim support for mystic evidence, without all the frosting this can be just as much a treat to me, entertainment wise, as well as socially, I can get a good "measure" on a groups interaction through such a venture. I like my Cake without all the mystical frosting.
so it counts as levitation if your lifting someone? interesting.
i did that when i was at school many moons ago and it worked, i was the one being lifted and lifting others, and it does work
Hanging a neon sign on a parlor trick, that is why people that like to mystify others with their esoteric knowledge cannot just say, "hey, lets do this group builder, I mean the people that claim it is anything more then what it is (like the Oyja Board) are sensationalist.
They seem to miss the factor that it is quite interesting without all the flash occult dressing. Yet if one was seeking to signal out the Spastic person in a group one could make them the liftee. Yea, I agree Molly any physically supported activity cannot be levitation. The hover disc, and magnetic suspended sphere are as close as we have come to levitation. even the Temples had "levitating" effects. A chariot in fact. They used load Stone, in the temple of the Sun God.. he (the statue) would look up at the sun.. then the chariot would come forth, and then appear to levitate, I bet when the priest saw that, and then related it to the masses, they would likely be very convincing. As easily as those that watch staged performances said to be occult activity. When something is dismissed in the flood lights of mysticism, it is easy to become jaded to what is actually eventful.
I notice that there are those who are put off by the thread title.. there was already a thread on levitation, this thread I was led to believe is about Light as a feather stiff as a board, not even claimed to be levitation. Or even a hoax to levitation, it is a parlor activity.
So...who has a spell that would work? I want to try this...please!
It is not levitation, it is a group dynamic. One would start with a circle of friends. To attempt to levitate will result in great injury to the person that attempts it. If someone is convinced they can levitate, I will Pay you to walk-out a window. The effect of levitation can be found online. go to an occult store to find vague unsupported claims of levitation.
yes this was performed in the film "The Craft." But do your research people! This spell go's back hundreds of years! I personally have never tried it so I don't know if it's real or not. But I do know that it is very old.
No it never worked for me...
And if it did work...Could you call it a spell???
I think it would be more a group experience, ritual would be a close, spell will encourage the high jacking occultist.
We tried something similar at school back in the days, I think we managed to lift our lightest classmate up, but no matter how you put it, it was nt a spell and not like in the movie. It is mass power of suggestion or something like it, hard to remember, it was a long time ago.
i actually like that scene from the movie, it was well done to my taste. but i've never tried a levitation spell, and don't personally know people who claim to have any success with it.
I have heard of the spell, but I have never tried it or witnessed it. I had a friend once that tried it with some of her friends and she told us it worked. I didn't believe her and I have never actually believed this spell could work but after reading one of the articles I am sure it works but not because it's magic. I believe that if they are actually able to lift the person it is because they are so focused on it that they aren't realizing how heavy the person is. Besides if four people are trying to lift someone are are determined to do it then it shouldn't be that hard, I don't think there's any thing magical about it, but as I have stated I have never tried this or witnessed it.
I have never had it work for me, but my sister has told me that it worked for her and her friends and i had another friend say that its worked for her more than once. so maybe it only works for certain people or perhaps its the day or moon cycle that makes it work. hard to say why it works for some and not others
Maybe it is because the weight of the person being lifted is evenly distributed among the lifters, but then again maybe someone who's "gifted" and doesn't know it yet is partaking in the game. Maybe that's why it works for some and not others. I don't know, it was just a thought.
I've seen it done before, but if one person doubts it then it will not work.
You've seen actual levitation or the Light as a feather stiff as a board thing done?
never worked its bs and its not really a spell stop watching the craft so much
I have never known a levitation spell to actually work. Most of the ones I do know of have been nothing more than hallucinogenics at work.
"Sit in a circle of twelve white candles and repeat 12 times"
When in this circle i am home
So staff to bone
As earth to stone
I summon you sky
So call me home...
That was supposed to work for levitation.....all it did when i tried it made the stuff i was working on vanish....Like it was in my hand one minute....and no where to be found ever....
*shrugs*
never tried to use the light as a feather one.
a very trusted friend told me it worked. I beleive her.
I have heard that placing candles in a circle for north, south, east and west is needed. Also placing a white feather ontop of the to be lifted
We had this discussion not too long ago..there was a vid I though I might go back and look for...I think you might be interested in watching.
https://www.vampirerave.com/forum/message.php?message=15913&group=1&catid=1
Ok,found em.....
Anyway,if you can stand this dude's narration,Id say it is worth it,as he hits on a few points, which I feel are valid ,and pretain to this topic..I will let you figure for yourselves what those might be,and its only food for thougt .
Now this one,is a bit more directly related to the method of levitation in which I feel you,in part, have directed your question HHW or at least ,the possible energies that drive it..I cant even stand to listen to this womans of yesterdays news in her harrp descript, she is that bad..but if you go to 1:32,you can get past the injureous narration pretty much.I cant answer about the "Craft" in the context of the movie tho.I have no opinion on that.Ive never participated in attempting to levitate another either.but
These are just energies of this planet and the cosmos. In my private Idaho, its the nature of magick.
And then theres this option...perhaps if peeps are in a group, and somehow obtain this frequency around themselves or another, thru thought or spell or whatever..then ,maybe.
well when I was younger we did do it and it did work .. scared the shit out of us yet, it worked LOl so I feel it is just home much you actually concentrate and your mind power when doing it.
Of course I am a firm believer of mind over matter ....
if you don't mind it don't matter LOL!! joking of course...
I do believe in the power of suggestion really .. we only use 1 ioda of our brain and minds powers so if you put your mind to work you could be surprised by what you can accomplish.. just how I feel and believe
i think it does work so i would like an anser so i know i seen it work before any one elts has any thing to say on this
True. A spell is an action that influences something else unwillingly. So I dunno what you would call it. A magic game perhaps...
I feel it is just a majic game yet it does work so... who is to say I mean people can believe or not believe in my opinion and well as I said it worked so I do believe.
Alot has to do with how open you allow your mind to be also.
Maybe not in some aspects LF,but in others,it happens everyday.
Great! For all of you who have responded to this thread pleas state the date that you were levitated or participated in levitating someone else.
And none of this "oh I want to" or " I'm going to" "or I'm waiting ro have mu lights turned back on"
and do not mention Chriss Angel
i can do a quazi chris angel hover trick without the spell hoopla
Hmmmm.... 2 hours have passed and we are still waiting!
I wonder what is said in the link provided, tp lead the someone to think this is spell craft, or someone that would interpite it as spell craft.. for what purpose? Motivation? It is a Parlor trick, a group confindence drill, a way to spot a spaz as well, it is a phenomna without all the frosting, occult adoption of these things and even the oyja board jade people to the basic entertaining quality, it is like missing a parade because you where watching for fireworks. if you claim to be a baker, and all you serve is stale cake with icing.. lots of icing, then I doubt anyone will seek out your bakery.
What does overly frosted cakes have to do with levitation? lol
I tried it on mysef, and nothing happened. But my EX "claimed" that he would levitate in his sleep sometimes. I slept in the same bed as him many times, and he always stayed put when I was around, LOL
I think you may still be waiting for quite a while...lol.
I believe this whole thing is nothing more than a slumber party game made outstandingly popular by a movie.
i strongly b elieve in the power of the mind... and to levitate, high level of meditation is required, not only a phrase to repeat... you have to be in a real state of meditation.. a deep one, where your mind rules your body...
that´s the most difficult part... because with your mind you can move objects but it´s really difficult move yourself from one place to another... that requires extra concentration....
douglas adams wrote about this. he said the trick is to fall and miss. at the very last moment before impadct ya get distracted by something and realise your not touching the ground. but don't wave at people or else the laws of the universe will catch on and gravity will claim you again.
this of course is fiction but i thought it apt
I think to be medicated one could levitate. Until then gravity (as non sensational as it is) convinces me that it is stronger then my imagination, or desire to levitate is.
One would think that a person that claims the ability to be able to levitate would rise to the occasional challenge.
i dont really think that it was a spell per say i think it was more along the lines of that if you say it enough times it becomes true. so in other words i think it was simply mind over matter
So I am interested in finding the article that was read to reference this thread, I want to read the article there is a link, it appears to go back to a profile, for you Hell, but I cannot find an article on that profile. pagens lounge is that a place you found an article and posted it. Please I would like to have valid links.
Well, you never know, speaking to the person above. There are many very odd things that happen in this world. And not everything can be explained. But as far as "light as a feather, stiff as a board" goes, it dates back hundreds of years.
actually the data base is stacked against the old unexplained mystery thing.. I know it is very likely that a person of group of people can perform a ghost, and have been doing so for thousands of years as, well, as well as faking levitation.. odd things.. yea science phenomena.. here in the physical world.., number of levitations magiccally performered Millions.. billions..? Number of actual levitations...? drum roll please.. some people are really carried away by their imaginations.. buy a levitating disc.. it actually levitates.. whoooo ... you can hold the power at your fingure tips... whooo.. I am so high on coffee right now.. whoooo I am levitating.. I never know.. it just might be possible.. ? ...? well if you just walk away from the roof.. and really think you are going to levitate then please wear a rope.
Too funny…. Levitation … best left to astral workers for sure.
You know something Lav. I agree with you. I am really opening up to your craft. Finding consistent people is not hard here after all.
Ah be carful before you know it you will be naked on a broom covered in flying ointment screaming im free lol
I've been naked on a broom myself as well...but the broom sure wasn't levitating!!
i do think it's possible it could work but But for the most part many don't have the faith to believe so is why the many failed atempts but i do think it could be possible if soemone was in the right mind frame.
i have heard of levitating monks in tibet and have always been curious about that.
I'm a non-believer, a show me person...but I wish they did work - magic would be wonderful and terrible - but at least interesting!
hmmmm.... i think someone read my spell on making a werewolf and ad libbed
ok yes that was a movie but it doesn't mean that levitation can't be acheived and it's not a matter of belife it's a matter of energy can a group surround one person laying face up on the floor eyes closed combining their energy focusing on one point to make something phenominal happen? that is the question not just u and one other person lifting a body it can be acheived with a group of people who can focus their energy it causes sort of an electricity effect causing the person to rise off the ground "no strings attached it can be done, if there is such a things as teleconetics and those who possess this gift then there is such a thing as levetation and manefesting enough energy in order to acheive this.
During the sixties a group of hippies tried to levitate the Pentagon, to this day, they all swear they did levitate the building
Could that have been chemicialy enhanced Telekinetics Emillio? I would place a silver dollar on that, I am assured they perceived the Pentegon rise..
A group dynamic, with instructions to place fingers under and make contact, to lift a body up, collectivly.. how is that levitation.. now the levitation thread has been closed for sometime.. with no pictures, or documentation provided for those that ask such a simple thing. Your cosiens, neighbors, sister-in-laws friend hearing that some kid they heard about levitating. So I want to offer those that believe levitation exist a chance to feel the power.. just message me for a levitation device..
you are sure to get a rise out of.. I mean sensational people are losing credit, here they have a phenomena.. I know you so want it to be all mystical and stuff but beyond Neato.. you can still us it at slumber parties to astonish your impressionable friends into believing your imagined reality.. sad though that you cannot simply enjoy something because it is not Ultra-Super-Para-Mystical-Phenomena.. You really let yourself get hyped at the headline.. kind of like reading a headline and assuming that you have the whole story down.
I doubt it.
Levitation tends to be caused by the use of pullies and wires and mirror tricks.
Also, for the spell used in the Craft, no way it would seriously work. It would be hard for the levatiee to remain un-a-where of what was happening.

i have never seen it work i tried the light as a feather stiff as a board and it didnt. but hey maybe someone else got it to work i dont know.
