I know of myself, and at least one other user for whom profile ratings are being deleted on a daily basis. Is there anybody else who profiles are affected by the same method of deletion?

To be honest, I really don't even bother to worry about it, hun.

Well, thats you Nara. I know I put a lot of time and effort into this, and we all have our different *things* on this, but I would hate to think that people are deliberately going around blitzing ratings. That is really unfair! Its like voodoo as somebody once said to me!

Do you mean that your profile has been rated a certain number of times and then you look and it's less than before? If so, it's happened to me but I have no idea why.

Yes I mean exactly that AngelPie. Before I went to work I had 168 ratings, when I came home I had 166 ratings. That sorta thing makes me mad, because I take time meeting new people and welcoming and thanking them for being here because I like to met them, even if some are kids and I love their angst. (We all were kids once) Obviously the person (persons) who is doing the deleting is having a picnic right now that I have spoken out. (This has been happening for some time now and I turned a blind eye to it before)

So thankyou Angel for speaking out in public too about this.. that is three of us that I know of affected by this. *hugs*

I wasn't aware of that Melly..which proflles were deleted then? it does show up as profile no longer regisered and I would be interested to know who left. Thankyou.

Oh come now sweetie, you know I've put a lot into my profile as well-- I just don't care either way about the voting of mine. If soemone likes it, more than likely they'll rate it, and personally send me a message-- as opposed to leaving -just- a comment.

As for the disappearing votes, maybe even have registry of sorts for the profiles that have been deleted? Like a profile/SN graveyard?

As far as registry go's I know for a fact (because I at one time)I had my nick unregistered and once you do that it infact leaves a trace that my nick was unregistered by saying "no longer registered" and not only that, but also left my profile ratings and comments in tact also after a unregistered from VR

Emmy, I have noticed it too, and truly just thought i was wacko. My numbers seem to go up and down. I dont pay attention to the rating per se, but the number of rating... i dont care what people think about me or my profile, just how many people think of me LOL

Maybe, maybe...

The system updates ratings every half hour, but maybe the "number of times rated" number is calculated in real time?? That would mean until the update is done, the numbers won't match up.

If the number of times your profile is rated drops, then I can only stick with the assumption that a profile was deleted by a MOD, or a member deleted their own profile.

Hmmm, that is a feasible idea. All I want to do is to understand. I always drew the conclusion that one profile rating = 1 person rating, I didn't consider that option Melly..

Contrary to popular opinion, systems sneeze and things happen. Everything Melody said is perfectly acceptable solution.

For Instance... I was doing something in MY profile just now...and SOMETHING sneezed... and deleated the whole god damned thing cept the pictures.

Oh well...needed an overhaul this week anyway.

*I* personally stopped caring what my rating score was after I dropped below 6th, and i never cared how many people rated me...

This is an excellant site for Vampire information and discusion I really dont' agree with having ratings although i do rate profiles i do not campare IT's not make it in to a popularity (sorry for spelling) contest............

true the rating scale tho was not intended as a contest....but as a way of showing interest through promoting people to look around and post.....instead of just lurking as happens oh so often on sites

It appears that I am misunderstood. I am not complaining about the scores here!! What I am trying to establish is the dissapearance of the number of times a profile has been rated! and why that should happen. ( I am not the only one this is happening to)

Daermon, I am surprised you mentioned what you did about it being a competition, maybe some of the kids think that way but please don't insult my intelligence.

Like you, I'm not fussed about the ratings, but I feel the frustration at thimes too, when I consider I have no explinations for it, though.... some naughty people, who I see and know rate people down aught to be a shamed of themselves for childish behavior.... I just rate others on content-- and most times we end up in conversations about what we like/dislike, and how we can fine-tune our profiles to what we really want to express.

I am not sitting back manipulating your rating score Emaerald (Or how many times you've been rated). You do not deserve that level of attention from me. Furthermore, I have better things to do. This afternoon is my first time on VR in over a week. It's the holidays if you haven't noticed...

A few weeks ago I cleaned up the deletion process. If a profile is deleted (either by the registering user or by an administrator), everything that user has ever done is deleted, except forum posts. It was not done this way in the past.

Additionally, when I cleaned up the deletion process, I made it impossible to view the profile of a non-existent user. Meaning if you try to view the profile of a user no longer registered, you'll get an error page.

And finally, expect further changes to the profiles/rating system. Soon I will be mass deleting multiple profiles. I have been doing this by hand up until now, but I have almost completed a script which will automate everything. I will also be introducing a new function which deletes a profile after an inactivity period of 90 days. So everyone can expect the ratings to go into flux after that.

I like the 90 day profile inactivity expiration!!
