On the bus to college listening to Eminem I had a wierd thought pop into my head.
Is th devil really such a bad guy??
Now here's my reasoning God has done things on a massive scale of destruction as mentioned in the bible but all the devil did was try and tempt jesus in the middle of the desrert (my memory of the bible is VERY sketchy so please 4give me).
Also when god sed to Adam and Eve don't eat the forbidden fruit:
1)If some1 sez don't you just have to (sometimes antway) its like saying "Don't push the red button"
2)What was the tree doing there anyway??
3)Why was the devil there anyway did god leave the gate open when he left??

And lets face it when confronted with the question why did god let that happen ppl say its our own freedom of choice...........Ok but if were god's kids *shudder* sure let us burn ourselves a little bit but to let us get consumed completely thats a social service case if I ever saw 1.
Also the devil kinda comes off as the victim here lets face it if you had just created the universe would you really mind if some1 else wanted to take over (early retirement) jus kick back and guide your succesor seem's ok to me anyway.
Oh yeah one more thing (well 2 actually)
The devil was modeled on the pagan interpretation of thier god (I think don't quote me on that remember this is just a musing of a bored mind not an in depth blow by blow account of well educated study) and it seems when God gets REALLY pissed off he's way worse than the devil still I could be wrong so what do you think??

i think ur right....when my dad died who do u think took his life? the devil? no it was god that took his life so therefore god is more evil than the devil (the bad evil..not good evil)

i am not religeouse but the people that made up this god and bible bullshit have no idea what they are talking. about none of it makes sence and if they do exist i think that satan and god will have their final battle and i really dont care who wins.

I don't particullary care either (aetheist remember) and I don't want/need anyone to blame anyone 4 what happens in the world.All I'm wondering is in the bible were gonna encounter at some stage in our life (seriously its like maths teachers you can't escape them................sorry ob1 but you get me) it the fact that 1 of the characters is seriously misrepresented.

But about Chaosbloods thread, i dont believe that there is physical even spiritual beings of God and Satan, but believe that good and evil is a 'social' creation.

its well known that god followers such as priests (who hundereds of years ago) were also the political head, used the bible and that sort for mass control and manipulation.... the bible and God and the conflict between good and evil was a way to control thier citizens, i personally believe the catholic church (back then) made up all the stories and none of it really happened....

Its a great Hoax though..... possibly why god follower numbers are decreasing at an almost exponential rate lol they realise that that religion never had answers to any questions and wasnt making any difference in their lives lmao....

I agree with there not being a 'one true god' I think (and no offense to any Christians) that the idea of a devil or satan was invented to control the people at the time by saying if you do not follow our rules then this will happen to you.

Life is often run on fear but, a belief in God must surely lead to a fundemental understanding that not even a 'divine' higher power can be perfect... people must take responsibility for the bad side of themselves. The devil is a part of all of us. There are no exceptions, and that is why we fear it.

Hmm...I don't believe in God of Satan, but here's what I do believe: From what I hear, Satan is a fallen angel of God. Satan did something and pissed off God and so he was banished from the Heavens. It is then when Satan created Hell for those souls who've sinned against God. So as far as I'm concerned, Satan is just as powerful as God.

I personally like God, i believe that he has helped me in my life, as someone who as seen some of the christian establishment up close, i think it is christian people sometimes that pervert God, and make him look bad, some of the most hateful people i have ever met have been at church, i think it's important to keep an open mind. I consider myself a christian but i don't feel the need to shove that down peoples throats, and i don't think because i am it makes me any better than anyone else. I hate it when people have a self rioteous attitude.

As i am wiccan this argument makes little sense to me the god and satan of the bible were based on gods from other earlier religions and are entirely fictional. Good and evil are acts of man not gods.

There is no Devil. I know that is a shock for all of you, but trust me on this one. I have read about it. God is just giving Satan orders to follow. God made Satan for doing things for him he could not do.

Ok people for the last time, my fathter is not bad, does the bible not say "forgive as you have been forgiven" (don't know the exact verse) if I recall my scripture right didn't Jesus say this to his followers, was a requirement from God. Why then did God not forgive Satan????

Satan is Lucifer the angel of light. Satan is a temptor meaning he throws out obstacles in Gods plan for this world. (read job) Satan cant make you do wrong for God gave you free will. What his problem is ---he believes that angels should be worshiped as gods by man --but he being the first angel should be worshiped supremely. The only power Satan has is that in which you give him.
As far as God goes it is not so much that he makes things happen to you possative or negetive its more or less that he allows it to happen or not happen. You have to take the cards you are delt and play them the best you can. A lot of has to do with state of mind---Control what you can and make the best of the rest

I believe all forms of religion are control mechanisms used to strike fear into individuals so that they may live according to what is said to be "appropriate" by society.

last semester on my LIT class we worked on a religion project and one of the guys in my class researched Satanism.

Cancer's right...a true satanist doesn't believe in the existance of the devil or god or any other deity..

I have always wondered this myself. And being kicked out of church when I was 10 for asking " is the bible real?" which was just plain dumb... but enough of that. Do I believe there is a satan... hmmm not really... do i believe thier is a god? I believe that there is one superior being that the gods and goddess make up. I also believe that in this world there has to be a balance between good and evil if not then things tend to be a little off kilter.
