Well I think it is just as possible that along with people that are always thinking 'in the box'... we have some that never step in the box at all. The box does have some validity itself.
Supernatural activity is not my answer to all that I cannot explain.
I had posted some stuff about this not so long ago Dutchess. Its very interesting that DMT,something produced by our brains is known as the spirit molecule...
Here is one of the vids I had posted.
Cheers, RY! Thank you, I was only hoping there might be more to it or if we all have differing opinions. Sometimes science makes things try to connect to in order to explain the impossible.
Having been to that threshold, I would lean in that direction. I will look for a few links to articles that support this very thing.
You dont believe in the substance's ability to affect us in such a manner? I dont understand what you mean.
Ok..wait,I think I do get what your saying..
So in light of that, let me offer this.
Perhaps the chemical has something to do with Torsion fields,if there in fact is such a thing, and this chemical somehow acts as a link between the ether and the physical..so on and so forth..
Alot more to my train of thought, but thats the jist of it.
damn thought i was the only one here who listened to terrance mckenna here. but heres a really good site on the spirit molecule:
http://deoxy.org/find?q=spirit+molecule&offset=0&type=
feel free to explore more on dmt on that site, theres tones of info about it there.
DMT is the chemical identified that produces our dream, near death experiences, and other such stuff. it will spike and these things will happen
Ok,I thought so but got a bit confused.Thats why I brought in the Tryptamine vid. because it does explain chemical reasons for what appears to be paranormal or dive accounts.
Well, endorphins are an opioid, so yes, it's been proven we can get a natural high. :)
Ditto for seratonin, and that is why people who take ecstasy have "downers" afterwards. The depletion of seratonin needs to be replenished. Actually, this also applies to bipolar disorder -- low seratonin levels or a chemical mix up that directly blocks those levels.
Conversely, adrenaline is natural cocaine and/or angel dust for the body. That is why you hear of people lifting buses off of people or those who get shot multiple times and still keep coming.
Exactly, SSRIs (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) such as prozac, etc, keep your serotonin level regular and thus, fights that down / depression feeling.
wow i like this thread, Yea we can have our own natural high!
It's actually the pineal gland, it makes serotonin and melotanin. It really is dangerous playing with serotonin levels.
Ok some basics about endorphines. There are four distinct groups of endorphins that have been identified to date.
The main groups are the alpha-endorphin, which is a polypeptide with 16 residues. The beta-endorphin, a polypeptide with 31 residues.
The gamma-endorphin, a polypeptide with 17 residues. And the sigma-endorphin, a polypeptide with 27 residues.
And youre both correct. They are produced in the Pituitary,Hypothalamus and the Pineal glands.
Matt, endorhins were discovered and proven in the 1960s I believe.
Ooh sorry for the typos..
Anyway we can get addicted to them too, there is a behaviour in horses that is known as cribbing. They stand at a fence,or anywhere they can get their top front teeth solidly on and push, then release ..Some suck air when they do it and we call them windsuckers. They do it to stimulate the release of endorphins and will stand there all day doing it.
Being relaxed when dying is a good idea then, and to have an assurance in that final moment, could create that "zone" for the cocktail to be distributed through the body, obsessing over dying, and intense irrational fears would likely spike and trigger releases of the same psyoliogical cocktail, tapping the potency of that mixture, I hear of extreme athletes getting hooked on adrenaline, and joggers strung out on endorphines, some people appear to be strung out on the chemicals released when a fright gets them. Like the story in Flat liners, they get a rush from dying. A body can be tested after death for the presence of elevated "in system concentrations" of naturally occuring biochemicals.
Well of course it's possible. It's all possible and we won't know until after we pass. That's what pisses me off.
When my Mom passed last November, I was searching for others on here, that had had near death experiences and if they had passed over and came back. There were many that had. There seem to be so many different experiences, it's hard to figure it all out.
I dislike mysteries, and sadly, this is one of them. I sure hope you are wrong. I fear passing over so much and it sure would help to know my beliefs of my whole life were right about reincarnation and beyond. I sure hope Sylvia Browne is right.
Going out in bliss is ideal for me, having any residual attachment to this universe.. no thanks.. perhaps the best imprinted assurance the person has (and this is something I studied personally with mind altering substances, grade A substances) then that is the conscious "default" projection as you fade into your final bliss cocktail. My threshold experience had all the hallmarks of an Acid Trip (again I have prior experience). I figure that the next time, sudden death or progressive death, I plan to repeat my actions, that is to relax, and picture myself slipping into the stream out past the horizonless expanse. What price is hesitation, to release, I think it would be a suffering death, I have witnessed such things. In devote/zealous people, and I wonder what their faith did for them in the final moment.
Well, Jamie, to your point, what if it is that me may not know when we pass? That we just cease to exist? That would piss me off, because I sure would love to know.
I could definitely see that as a possibility. Though I personally would like to think it's a genuine paranormal experience :)
I hear what everyone is saying about chemicals in the brain make people ‘trip out’ and see things and I can perfectly understand that.
On the other hand, I still believe that not all ‘near death’ experiences are just a chemical high, after all, what about the reports of the people who have the experience, reporting later, floating above the bed and hearing what everyone is saying word for word, remember who is in the room, what they are wearing etc, not to mention the very interesting memories I have from what I can only attribute to past life’s.
here would be the prompting potential, if a person heard from someone, even over heard from someone, a "text book" near death experience then they are a less credible source for account. Some Near Death Seminars actually coach people (putting words in the mouths) as they share their experience, the "Go along for social exceptence is a motivation to accept prompts.
This is also common in Mind altering substance use experiences.
that would explain the whole my life flashed before my eyes because you cant see memories i mean if i try to remember a joke or a fact its not like its flashes right in my eyes
I think thats completely possible.
What about people who normally see things that aren't there though? Do they just have a chemical imbalance?
Everything is up for conversation on this topic. You'll have the nay sayers on this and the believers.....but you have to remember that everyone believes their own story no matter who says what about it. I personally believe that what I've experienced is real.....not some sort of chemical imbalance. *shrugs* but that's just my opinion. All research and comments certainly show a lot of valid points.
Well, and to your point, what if what you have experienced is in fact real and it is what is causing the chemical imblance/change? Science can't detect that. :)
i was actually listening to this on the radio a few days ago... and i believe that to be an explanation... but does everything need an explanation... cant we just believe it
seems we'll all have to have the old wait and see attitude..this can be discussed till doomsday but till we actually pass over we wont really know
The way my therapist explains it is....people with acute senses can feel spirits and what have you. By acute senses i mean excellent hearing, sense of smell, and taste. I myself have a very acute sense of hearing and can feel and sense spirits. My therapist calls us sensitives.
LadyKrystalynDarkstar: who says these imbalances or spikes arnt spiritual... carl jung wouldnt separate the mind activities with the spiritual, he also practiced the occult...
there are some that believe the chemicals in our brain to be a media of sort to the divine... sorta the wire which the spirit world can communicate on..
for example, South american shamans drink ayahusca (sp?) which the main component is dmt and maoi's to produce spiritual visions
People do like to feel that buzz, and it comes not just in high dose, it comes in spooked moments, but only a "sip' of the fix, how much do people like to be scared? Even astonishment gives us a dose of bio-dope. Sensationalist tend to be addicted to such things. Mystery/Suspense, or great anticipation activates base "coping" serum then the bio-dope comes out in small doses, WHAM your micro high starts.. some get high of of anger, danger, or even pleasure. All of these are chemical reactions, in the trip is where the " accepted/crafted perception plays out. If I was to take LSD with another person, without telling them what I have witnessed on LSD, their trip will be more personalized, yet if I pre-coach them, with tales of my trips then that will bleed into their trip. A collective enforced projection (example heaven) can very well imprint that heaven or the "path to heaven" upon a person, yet without the senses, which the body is numbing. The transition I imagine is in assurance not in accepting some sensational crafted belief system. I don't want to be the person that has a cluttered conscious when I "approach" that threshold again.. being weighed down into static. I want to escape when the moment is given.
"there are some that believe the chemicals in our brain to be a media of sort to the divine... sorta the wire which the spirit world can communicate on.."
Im in this camp Iam,as I stated earlier in the thread.
I dont think the DMT is the wire,I think that torsion fields play that role. But the DMT acts as a chemical catalyst that puts the mind into the frequency that allows us to access the torsion waves.Remember when I touched in part on the whole sound thing? Well it all ties in and thats what my research has been all about..just gathering the evidence so I can state and back up my case.
Keep in mind though that the exsistence of Torsion fields is really controversial as shown in one of the links I posted. And while I in no way endorse the guys behind the discovery,..or said discovery,I do believe that what they propose to have found is a real possibility.
Wonderful, and accurate to the sight and even sensation..

I do believe in people seeing things but i also think a lot of people say it to think it makes them look cool or special.
Is it grand how the human body thinks of everything for us.
A way to die with a smile. To ease the pain & clam you down. Great info ,great post.

Well stated, and at your age i can bet you see a lot of people speak of such things, and then watch for the responses of others.
Digest is preferred to those that have a social deficit. Using a subject already presented to include ones self to a group, the fact that the persons limited in their understanding is covered by initiating debate.. otherwise the inquiries of others that shared "researched" insight.. will actually expose them as posers, or digest reciters.the stability of a interacting group is depressed by dramatic digest, or fad testimony.. the common object is as stated to not only appear cool, but to appear cooler then other people in the group, those with only a studied understanding , and not an "experience".
Many times people think they saw a shadow or somethign walk past them or some kind of object. I think people tend to see what they want to see. Meaning if you are in a certain room you have the expecation and mentality that you are going to see a ghost in the room with you, so you are going to see it there because you want to. Now if you actually see it no one else will really now. It coudl all just be in your head. Same thing if you put a group of people in a room they will all claim to have seen or think they saw the same thing.
That makes sense and it could be the explanation considering it true that the body can also go into shut down mode to preserve the body to a certain extent during mass trauma.
The mind is something which hasn't been fully explored yet and what it does. The chemicals do create certain things to happen to the body when it is stressed or overworked or even in extreme pain.
However I am not convinced that it is the release of those chemicals that cause people to see things when they are in near death experiences but who am I to judge since I have never had one. Yes I have been near death but didn't have an experience.
Well I think even in near death experiences your psychical body may be shut down but your sub conscious isn't and it can still project manifestations that you think you want to see.
I agree totally with you Demonsaint that just because you no longer may have conciousness that your subconscious doesn't take over at that point...as I have stated..there are many areas of the mind that has not been studied and there is a mystery to it that maybe one day we will be able to unlock.
Hmm, apparently, I must have blacked out before?!
I understand where everyone is coming from regarding detached subconsciousness, but my question isn't post-mortem based. As I see it, we all recognize that our bodies make certain little mixes for us in certain situations. For instance, your thrill seeker who enjoy sky-diving, base-jumping, car-surfing-surfing-surfing or jalapeno pepper eaters! All produce what they refer to as a "natural high". The same addiction in the high from those who are obsessed with getting their tats and piercing -- they feel a certain pleasure with the experience. This is not the hand of some "god" hoping to extend random pleasure... It is ours bodies. So? If we perceive ourselves on the bad end of a life or death situation, do our bodies give us a shot of euphoria? Or maybe some sedative that makes us a deer in headlights? Then we think happy happy thoughts before KABOOM!
I don't think any of the replies were post Mortim based. Merely on a different level.
Any kind of trauma causes the release of endorphins and yes,it is said that there is a release of endorhin upon death.this is what peeps experience when they have NDE.
Here is a site you might like to look at of some different theories..
http://www.near-death.com/experiences/experts01.html
And another on endorphins in general..
http://niazi.com/Endorphins/endorphin_story.htm
I firmly believe in the mind's ability to take you out of the reality of a traumatic experience and place you in a place you are able to deal with. I think that with the possibility of death comes trauma and fear and it stands to reason that if it were intense enough your mind would activate the chemical reaction necessary to take you to your "happy place".
I would agree.
Having your mind allow you brief release of suffering that is incomprehensible to those that haven't experienced it?
Yeah...Yay happy place.
I believe it could be the natural chemicals in your body. Then there is always the question of seeing "the dead" when you haven't had a near death experiance. Would it be that the natural chemicals in your body over produce? It's quite possible. Chemical imbalances(sp?) are more common now a days.
Jamie,
Re: "I fear passing over so much and it sure would help to know my beliefs of my whole life were right about reincarnation and beyond."
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Firstly, there isn't anything anyone can do to avoid it. Secondly, if you're one who subscribes to the evidence, if conditions before you were conceived didn't bother you, then conditions after you die shouldn't bother you either.
I believe that this is possible.
I mean your body can produce chemicals that either pump you up or drag you down to the lowest depths.
If you have an experience seeing something that is related to death it could be that you are either reacting to your body's endorphins or what have you or that you really are experiencing this and are not tripping.
I definitely think this is true because I was a runner for 7 years and there were times we were training so hard that I would start seeing things as i was running n couldnt explain why
