The Fatae.
So, obviously the Fatae of Greek Mythology doesn't exist. However, I rather have a question or two concerning similar things.
Do you believe that in our own world and dimension, there are things such as the Fatae? Creating the destiny of everyone and everything?
This is, in a way, asking if you do believe in fate or if we make our own destiny.
Could such spinners exist? And if so, could they possibly look like anyone else? To blend in?
thats a good question
no i dont think something like that is there, we make our own fatae, from our choices actions and so on and so forth, i dont belive any one has that kind of power me and my fatae
Sounds like a very good fairy tale folklore. I do not believe in things like that unless I have facts and documents.
No I do not believe fate is preordained, our choices make it and change it every moment. It is a good tale though about how things could happen.
I believe pretty much like the person before me. BUT...
In most cultures they have something similar to represent man's fate. In the Norse mythology its the "Sisters of Wyrd" and Wyrd is from a different perspective and these women were thought of as weavers and I found them in connection to spiders being weavers of fate.
Wyrd is not an end-point, but something continually happening around us at all times. One of the phrases used to describe this difficult term is "that which happens". I don't think anyone controls this but I do think we come in with a basic make up and it is for us to make the best of it and like some have stated...there are many paths, it is just up to us to find the right one.
I think every individual has there own destiny and that that destiny is made up by the choices he or she makes, I do not believe there is someone or something out there that decides it for us. I think that with the choices we make our destinies change daily. It may have started out as one thing, but with every decision made it changes either a little or a lot.
I don't really know what I believe. I would like to think that we all have the power to change our lives, to create our own destiny, but then again I find it really hard not to believe in predestination (hmm, I wonder if that's the right word to use here.) I think that something out there does have the power to decide how our lives will end, and even has the power to control what happens up until that point, however I do believe we are free to make our own decisions as well, but maybe the decisions we make are influenced by the higher power.
Not too many so far believe this. I find it a tad obscure. I believe anything is possible however.
it was said best in the terminator movies "no fate but what we make of it" but it is a interesting story to read none the less
We have our own free will to choose our faith our destiny. Truely tho it is a interesting theory.
I believe in fate. I believe we mapped all this out, and made contracts with the people in our lives, and with our spirit guides before we were even born. We have certain lessons to learn and things to experience.
I have read in Sylvia Browne's books, that our purpose in life is to experience and overcome negativity. That made a profound impact on me, especially when you look all around you and what you should be doing in circumstances and with people. Many people are not even thinking about their negativity.
I used to think it was just to learn lessons that we were here, to view this life from our angles. But now I realize the negativity aspect of it........it's just so hard to overcome!
we cotrol our own lives. we make our own choices and must live by them. its hard to belive our lives are written on string. but the sisters of fate is a pretty good story. i belive we make our own choices good or bad we live by those choices
I believe that three sisters (norns) are given charge over fate, but in the end it is our choice as to the end result.
Alright, I'm a less dramatic Atheist, but I still refer God in convos, so here we go.
I hear people always saying that why can't God just make this world perfect and everything is great? It's because everything was perfect. He gave us everything we needed for a perfect life, including the freedom of choice. It was our choice to eat the apple. Our choice to wear clothing, our choice to fight our own kind for reasons other than land and mating. It was our choice to creat money and be greedy.
YOU are who controls your life.
As we have discussed in other threads regarding mythological beings, Ancient Civilizations (Roman, Greek, Egyptian, etc.) were created to give persona, and explanation though stories, to occurances and things in life and death that would make it easier for people to comprehend.
I do not believe there are any beings (physical or spiritual) out there who "control" anyone's destiny or fate; we all start with a blank slate and each road or path we travel along and the people we run into or bring into our lives is what determines our fate.
If you look at them more or less as 'cycles of life' rather than literal beings that control fate, it is more plausible to believe in them...like in the faces of the triple goddess - Maiden, Mother, and Crone. Basically, the cycles of the earth - Mother Nature.
Call it what you will, but there are such things as Destiny. This is where things like kharma play out and the Weavers in the old traditions were the way that made sense to the ancients. Now we just look to debunk their ideas and we need to be looking to find where they got the idea from and how the basis of the idea fits in our lives
when I was young I thought everything bad that happened was fate , but now I believe that you make your own fate good or bad depending on how you feel ,If everything in negative then it will all be bad ,if you just roll with the flow and you put a spin on everything fate will turn out good . it s in your mind and heart how you feel and deal with things .
I do believe that they're things like The Fatae, that create are destiny's for us but in a contradicting way I believe that you can change your destiny.
I believ in a form of Fate. We have a begining and a end.
It is on a general path...BUT other things can make us branch off. These branches are at some point in life intersect with the general path.then goes off agian because of other things. at the end we come back to the general path and that is the end. funny thing if you believe in ghosts is that these people did not get to come back to the general path. The sudden ending on the branch by outside influances. War , Murder and so on.
But allways in the end Atropos cuts the thread of life.
