I have hesitated in posting to this thread, as my ideas on this topic are not embraced except by a very few.

Karma entails more than your actions. It entails your thoughts. Thoughts are things and if you think about murder, your are committing murder. The karmic debt is the same.

If you are serious about putting yourself on a path of enlightenment, you must control your thoughts. It is hard... Far harder than controlling your actions. Actions often carry societal consequence whereas no such consequence is realized with thought.

I have gotten myself to a point where I have about a 2 second margin of thought control. What I mean by this, as an example, let's say you steal my car. My initial impulse of thought will not be good, but within 2 seconds I pull together my composure and issue no further ill-will towards you.

I will often go a step further, and think good thoughts towards you.

Everyday I work on reducing that 2 second margin to zero.

The vast majority of you will not understand this... All you understand is vengeance and retribution. I bring it up because if you live a life filled with good deed, yet at the same time pollute your karmic pool with malevolent thought, your good deeds will not be realized and your self-imposing damnation will be severe.

Nicly put Cancer, you do make alot of sense here. ANd If I had to think about it I'd say that I've got about a 7 to 10 second impluse concerning ill will. The margin was much wider about five years ago.

I used to look at life as a why me attitude, bad karma. Things haven't changed much, but I guess I've matured in my out look and karma seems to be better, which helped close the ratio. It seems that for a big part, when a person changes their attitdue from "Woe is me" to "Hey things happen, how do I adjust", then they naturally go from snapping in a bad way automatically to thinking things out first, to it becoming a natural reaction to not think ill will.

well this is interesting, i agree with the saying and its menin, things do have a way of comin back around.

Thats a good way of dealing with your impluses. Two seconds, it only takes one to pull a trigger, so i guess it is longer than it seems and people need to banish vengeful acts completley from theier mind set.

I first think , why did the individual do the wrong action and how can I help them change their thinking, I never give up on them... there is always a reason people think and act as they do...

there is the thing that i belive in verry strongly which is karma and in the karmatic law. which is stated as what comes arround goes arroung. to each we get out own. its all a matter of what we do in life that determins how our lives are.

I definately believe in it, similar to threefold...as for bad things happening to you before you have the chance to do something bad, it evens out. There are always going to be obstacles, it's on you to decide to overcome and recognize that even when surrounded by negativity you don't have to be, and make good things happen, take initiative, and you will recieve what you've given. Don't just lay around waiting for happiness to arrive, if you do nothing, nothing will come back.

life is what you make out of it... if you make the right choices....make the wrong choices...so forth and well like you make your own destiny you make your own life

Well, what can I add to this? hmmm anything I would have to say is either been said or would very much pale by comparison. So, I will just say that I agree with everyone. Also, please allow me to reiterate that the name I use does not really imply that I am looking for trouble. I am not!! I believe in doing good deeds without expecting anything in return. I try to always have good thoughts about everyone. It is very hard sometimes, but hate has no place in my heart!

I empathise too much with people and i feel for them if i am mean to them and that hurts more than what they have done to me.

Seems a selfish reason to not be horrid but it seems to be working for me so far ...*smiles*

I think we're paying more attention when bad things happen and when everythings peachy keen we're high on life.

what I mean is that when bed things are happening we are on guard, and tend to be more critical of things happening around us.

i usually don't believe in things you can't really prove or touch, like ghost , religions and stuff..but i do believe in karma, and when something bad happens to me i think back into the past and think it's just coming back around to kick me in the ass...

shit if i believed in karma i would be in shit i have made people's lives hell because what people have done to me will if you look at me you could say that karma has come to get me...... shit i better run........
