Are those that are drawn to the study of Egypt just as interested in the Vampire world? Is there a relation?
Ancient Egypt was totally obsessed with the world of the dead. Vampyres are of the undead. Perhaps we are walkers between the two worlds? And then there is the interest of the unknown.
There may be some interests tired together.
But then again, I am dating someone for the last 12 yrs who was born in Cairo Egypt.
Not withstanding Queen of the Damned connection. There's a few links between Vampires and Ancient Egyptian History/Mythology.
well many books say that a clan of vamps reside in eygpt back then
hmmm i dont really know, be interesting to find out though
I have never really been into Egypt. I have studied some about Egypt just not enough to say that there is a connection.
I've never really thought about that.... Interesting... *goes off to think about it*
Many references to vampires can be found between the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean areas such as Egypt, Greece and Rome. The ancient Greeks believed in the strigoe or lamiae, they were monsters who ate children and drank their blood; this is all similar to 'Vampires'. Lamia, as the mythology says, was the lover of Zeus; but Zeus' wife, Hera, fought against her. Lamia was driven insane, and she killed her own offspring. At night, it was said, she hunted other human children to kill as well. Lamia, I've heard is sometimes also reffered to as Lilith, whom we all know as the first Vampire.
Thus from ancient times and from a bounty of exotic lands came forth the ideal thoughts of what these creatures called vampires were. It is from these ancient fears about death and the magical, life-sustaining powers of blood that the vampires as we know them today have evolved.
ummm i dont know i would have to read into everything more
Egypt does have a relation with vampires.
Some people have always had a desire to drink blood and the reasons are varied as the practioners. In some societies the practice was accepted, as in ancient Egypt. But in others, vampirism was considered deviant behavior and always condemned.
In Africa, most civilizations and tribes greatly feared vampirism. The fear was eventually turned into legend as people began to believe that vampires were evil spirits that would come in the night to drink blood, kill livestock and steal children.
DB- yours was the first post that stepped away from "Yeah, I suppose so..." kind fo answers.
Empress- 'Course there are Tribes in Africa to this date that their main source of nutrition is drinking blood. Abeit from animals... but hey, blood's blood.
;)
Connection I believe there is must research get back to you all !!
DarknessBound, (I hope that is right! :P I should copy and paste!), thank you for the information! I myself do not know if there is a connection. However, I do love both subject matters...
well i dont know if there is any connection, but i aminterested in egypt and vampires, but i also like other studys about ancient history aswell. maybe because vampire stories go back so far and are surrounded with mystery and lore, and so is egypt and alot of other ancient cultures, and people who are attracted to that kind of thing will like them both.
i think that it's more of a western film idea of vampires in egypt. i have only been able to find one folk tail that places them there.
Im really interested in Egypt, but I havent ever heard of some Vamps in ancient egypt......
I think it may have something with thier obsesion with the after life so they might have also believe in like a vampire like creature. but i would think they would see it more as a godly creature that just needs blood in order to live instead of the way they are portrayed now
there was a connection of them in the book The Vampire Lestat, about one of the egyptian gods being one of the first vampires or something i cant remember, ill have to go look it up again
wow need more infor on it.. i think i am gonna do research on it now i wanna know...
This is one of the few good threads i've
read on or about vampires.
Cheers
I am a huge fan of egypt, love the whole mystery thing and the undead situation. I recently just went to egypt, no joke, u can even go to my portfolio, pics there, and i felt a sense of sensualism and mystery and darkness, powerfull energy there. especially at the pyramids, omg the pyramids were amazing
when i went inside 2 of em, such an energy and a clear mind i had. a human being may only go thru this clearness probably once in their life, u go there, u can experience it. no worries, no thoughts, just the moment, its an amazing wonderful feeling
yes, egypt and vampires have a relationship. darkness, mystery, passion, and beautifulness. love both
i don't know but man you reaLLY thought bout that didn't yeah ...and yeah i think they do cause it was also dark in those days?? i think that makes sence
i believe on some level for some ppl they are tied into each others...and for some ppl anything that has to do w/ mythology ends up interesting them in the vampire world..
WELL THAT WAS A VERY INTERSRINg thing and well i was thinking bout it but can't seem to cum up with anything...soo srry i will be back soon to tell ya..lol
I have an interst in both eygpt and vampires but i don't believe these thing are related or prehaps they are I just have a thrist for knowelge

lol
every one is bla bla bla-ing of a link, a relation, but will somebody please post something of an incling of something. i mean please, even Darknessbounds scholarly attemp fails -miseribly- falls way short.
if there is a link -which clearly i protest, post it people, please. enlighten us. because compared to meaty wisdom this Vamp/great ancients of Egypt relation crap cant cut it as nothiness cotton candy
well yeah i thought bout it and yes they have a close realation....look at the way they live and all there life ways...
Vampires we have power that could destroy them. You never know if we destroyed them.
BillytheJust has a good point. Look at any informaiton about the Egyptians and you will ifn the ideology of death and the afterlife riddles within their culture, and most infamous traditions.
I think its most probably the fantsy element that is often ascociated with both vampires and the Egyptians that creates a link... I was fascinated by the Egyptians and Ramces II as a child. There is also the link of divinity, theEgyptians have been used for instance Ramces and the Tarot fo Eternity, all in all, the links from the cultures tend to show up in our lives now.
Very interesting thread, which is nice to see.
Ok Flux and the others I have found a link although this research states it all began in Greece there is reference to Egyptians and vampires here....
http://www.angelfire.com/moon/darkchamber/monthsub/msu_vamp.htm
check it out.....
alot of Western Magick comes from our Egyptians which actually come from lamuria/Atlantis times. such an adept stepin this thread i will take there.
Look nothing about having the blood of what is known as a Vampire suggest remotly anything to those great beings of yesteryear. the Vampires today are not wholly that much different than we are. i mean some are searching their spirituality just the same.
thats what is so different than the Egyptians/Chemites of those times. they had a spiritual technology -if you will- that we all are trying to get back in vibration with. the real vampire (not goth) community are as lost-&-found to getting back to Adam Qadmon (heavenlyhood) as we are.
i mean if you're trying to associate the physical aspects of vamps to the early egyptians thats just sad and a poor understanding of that powerful civilization descending from Atlantis.
thanks for the input Flux but what about this......
One example of this belief was taught by lecturer, Vincent Hillyer, (also vice president of the Count Dracula Fan Club, and board member of the American Chapter of the Transylvania Society of Dracula) (1930-). Vincent Hillyer’s theory of vampirism was based upon the existence of the astral body, a subtle duplicate of the physical body, or Ka, as used by the ancient Egyptians. The literature of psychic research has documented the travels of the astral body normally while a person is asleep. The astral body needs the physical body as it’s home, and after death of the physical body, the astral body tried to feed the body to keep it from decaying. The food source being living humans.
Metaphorically, Hillyer defines the process of intake of blood by the astral body as the Hemolytic Factor. He propounds that the astral body perforates the physical body of the victim. The blood in the astral body then causes a process of hemolysis, (the degeneration of red blood cells and the release of hemoglobin) within the victim. In the resulting emancipation of red corpuscles, the astral body collects the blood cells and transports them back to it’s own host body. Hillyer also believes that all living persons who are knowledgeable in occult practices, can become intentional psychic vampires.
Ancient Egypt and Vampires hmmm i agree with some of the post i think that's where most of the myths about gods come from but that just what i think
*runs and hides*
Well, I want to be an archeologist and study Ancient egypt, and I love vampires, so I think so, they are both surrounded by mystery and immortality.
In many more ways than any of us humans could ever find out.
Commenting on your theroy about vampires and Egypt...
Well it has been said that ther egyptians wanted to become immortal, I do beleive that they have in their own way, and that get reborn. in other lives that are just a rewarding and their last.
But on the guidelines of vamperism, who is there it say but the hyroglyphs that they wrote to show later generations to come will know and understand them. as for them being vampires, yes you need to look at it with more great detail.
I will mention that I am a rencarnation of an Egyptian Pharoh Queen (the 1st one)
Not Kleopatra, (she was a slut)
Not Nefphertiti, (she too was a stuck up bitch)
Queen Hepshauti (spelling is off) but none the less, she was the 1st pharoh queen to rule after her husband fell ill (Themoses II) and died and since her son was too young to rule on his own, (before king tut was around) she ruled until he was old enuff to co-ruled with her.
After he became a man he found out that he din't like the way his mother rule the kingdom so he sent out men to erase her name from history and have her killed and placed in an unmarked grave near the valley of the kings.
To this day i have to get to egypt and find her remains, for she wants to be reknown inthe history books as the 1st famous female pharoh and great archittect.
Egypt is often linked to anything from aliens to paranormal activity. It's no accident, but it's not why you think. Back in the ancient days, Egypt was seen much as it is now: mysterious, exotic, and alluring. The Egyptian culture was pretty far advanced considering its location. It was able to produce the pyramids, a "strange" hieroglyphic writing, and gods that looked pretty "strange."
Today, we know so very little about Egypt that we like to ascribe tales to it. But the pyramids and mummies and alien funeral rites often allow for our imagination to run rampant.
The ancient Egyptians felt that they had a very close relation to the gods and the underworld than anybody else in the world. It may become a very interesting theory though. Or hypophisis
Hmm, could be. (Queen of the damned) This egyptian god thing is very suspicious.
True, smythe, but all civilizations believe that they have a close relationship with their gods. The Greeks, the Celts, the Sumerians, the Japanese, etc. Egyptian pharaohs weren't the first to say they were gods or gods incarnate. The Japanese Emperor was believed to have been the direct descendant of the Sun Goddess of Japan: Amaterasu.
