*oops* I posted this in the wrong section the first time...sorry!

I know people here have varying opinions on whether vampires are real or not, and I don't really want to get into that...but I pose a related question.

What is the worst example of vampire culture you have seen?

For example, I moved out very young. At 15, I was living in a different city with my best friend. He was dating a girl there who was really into the vampire culture. REALLY into it, and just being asociated with her made my life weird. There was a large group of teenagers who believed they were not only vampires, but at war.
They terrorized eachother and it often ended in serious violence.

I've known other people who were deeply into vampire culture, as I am, and were not involved in violence-so they get my worst example label.

worst example......same as yours girly....course we grew up together....so.....i'm biased....
but second worst....Masquerade role players who don't know when the game ends.....

im a quit vampire, the only thing that i could say was my worst experiance was, i was out one night an say a young guy mabe around 17 or so an he had on a torn black rain cout he had an upside down cross painted on his for head, an a pintagram in ductape on the back of the cout, i remember thinking "his trying to hard"

here is my answer:people who beleive that goths are vampires,cause most dress in black and say they are one. These people make goths and vampires ridicolous.They think that vampires are some freaks who dress n black,cut themselves,phsychos and other b.s

I agree with deathnightgrl because the person who got me into realization that i was partialy goth were not even my gothic friends but my teachers etc... from knowledge and experience i've decided that i somehow feel under this classification. most of the goths i know do cut but its for understandable reason and they are not psychotic. now a day i would say we just had a hard time fitting in. maybe one could call us the maladaptive ones but w/e. i just know its not wearing black or cutting and all the things the main stream believes in.

Just goes to show that because someone cant fit in in society, likes to be the center of attention, and they read too many comic books humans get the wrong idea about us. Even the movies now are making an emphasis on "blending into society" lol. Vampires are NOT a cult, Vampirism is a way of Life and that Life is not violent. We only protect ourselves and the clan, not go looking for wars and violence. The imbiciles out there only amuse me.
Worse example? try the "books" and "movies" pick any one of them. Only then you will see where the outcasts get their ideas of vampires.Granted there are SOME simuliarities, however, its not all truths. Geeeezzzz..

People just need to start realizing that this isn't a joke... This is a real thing that some of us are born with... Its like having blonde hair... not everyone is born with it, so they desided to be a fake and make themselves one... People just need to be happy with the cards they were given...

worst example? hmm. there's these kids my little sister hangs out with. one of them offered to "turn me into a vampire". I looked the boger right in the eye and said, "look, i already AM a vampire. don't fuck around with your elders." The little shit shutted up and mumbled something about Hot Topic having a sale on dog collars.

a dog collar is fine. i just don't like my sister's goofy teen friends bugging me. they act like they're better than everyone else. that Bauhaus shirt hanging up on the wall at Hot Topic? they think it's a NEW band......holy shit. and they call themselves "goth". I love my sis and she knows better.

ooooooo filing the fangs bubba when you said that i got shivers.............lol. People have problems if they think the vampires are only phsycos(can't spell) that cut themselves, and the same with goths. Whenever I go to school (forced) I am called GOTH and you know what I think i have a advantage over a lot of people becuase they think that all goths are witches and have friends that are vampires(oooooo scary.........wait well a lot of what i just said is true.......lol) So if i just glare at someone they jump and run the other way it's atcually funny, but i better stop becuase the last time i made someone scream I was kicked out of school and taken to the police station........hehe.......I guess i have problems. But really seriously I think goths, vampires, witches, etc. have an advantage over regular humans.

Probaly the ones that act out the movies and such. It's funny to seem them actually hiss at crosses, holy water and things of that sort.But ppl that think they are at war never heard of anything like that.

I would have to say the kids that stand infront of Barns and Noble at night next to the AMC cutting each other (or themselves) and drinking it as if it's cool. Go home and do it, that's where I do it and I'm happy. Blah...

I would say the worst example I have seen was in Germany when there were literal clan wars families killing families it was pretty fucked up

Theres a number of answers that sprung to mind, so I guess I will have to 'forum-novel' my way through.

Firstly, there are those who describe themselves as a 'goth or a 'vampire' completely... these terms may get shouted at me in the street, but Im Debbie, not any of this stereotypical 'pigeon-holing' which strips away my personality. I think its a real shame that people are proud to be a complete streotpye.

The recent 'Has Hollywood Killed The Vampire?' thread spawned the next approach, which irks me. The Hollywood element of vampirism, as Daermon mentioned.

Almost everyone replied to this thread stating that Hollywood had indeed ruined the vampire... when in fact it is what brought it to life. The myths of old could of dyed out long ago if it wasn't for books and film, and its obvious that quite a few on this site see vampirism as being as much like a character they have come accross (suave, charming and mysterious with perfect hair) only because of the media. Then dare to accuse the media of killing it.

We all like to dream, but those who try to become a carbon copy of somehting they have dreamt up, and use it to draw attention to themselves is a sad affair.

My aproach may not be for everyone, and I do try to keep it very quiet, as its my personal business, but the perspectives I have mentioned are not only careless and immature, but give others a bad name.

the worst example i've seen is a guy in my shop class, hes a dumbass but thats not the point, towards the beggining of the school year he was claiming to be a vampire i gave him a funny look and he never claimed it again.

vampires are not here, never will be.... all those who think vamps are real.. need a head check... but considering this site has alot of intelligent americans... and you know how it is with the USA alien cap of the world.. ya'll belive in anything
