The only thing that came to mind is maybe they realize that fear is irrational and wish to overcome it?

Yes, I agree. Either That or they have chosen the true way to find out about such and know the true facts, to lessen their fear.

Or perhaps they're looking to bash the vampires here? Bit of a negative way to look at it, but it's a possibility.

i have no idea...the bashing aspect seems most probable, but that may not be the motivation.
does seem odd tho....there are many here that declare loud and long that there is no such thing as a vampire....thats the ones that really confuse me.

Why would that confuse you, LordWolf? Who's to say someone who lifestyles as a vampire has to believe in them? What about someone who studies the history of the legend?

Now that there are more Dark Network sites connected to this forum, the whole "non-vampires on a vampire site" argument is wholly obsolete, really.

Then there are those who play the "scared person" for the attraction of those who would insist they account for their contradicting behavior.
Some seek to be soothed of their fears "real or scripted".

Still others as mentioned above are simply here to mock others who identify as vampires, and how obvious is "I fear vampires." as bait?

I really think that it's more of a bashing issue than a fear issue. If they were truly afraid, why would they insult someone who "claims"(in their eyes anyway) to be a vampire? I think the people who react in such a manner are truly just in it for the drama.

The only vampires that would terrify me would be those akin to the ones in "28 Days Later" and the like...totally brainless monsters. The more 'human-like' vampire would be interesting to talk to - one could even possibly talk one out of draining you dry.

1. There is no such thing as vampires.

2. They are portrayed as sexual, powerful beings in movies, etc. and we each are drawn to that, being the primal asses we are.

3. We dig escape from sad or boring things in life.

there are a considerable number of people that consider themselves to be vampires...living vamps rather than the hollyweird models. so, if someone is going to say they are not real, they might wish to qualify their statements.

It would not terrify me so much as the thought of "vampires", but of those of whom give their input on a vampire site that dispute the existance of the vampire itself, on the non-fictional premiss. That is terrifying in itself...As close mindedness only goes oh so far.

I think if some one is afraid of vampires what better way to learn more about them so you may have an advantage as to protect yourself from them, or study them as a job ...I did not know it mattered if one is not of the vampire lifestyle, to still join the site.

VR has many interesting subjects *topics* on here for everyone of all walks of life.

SO I do nopt find it strange or unusal for someone terrified of Vampires to have a profile on VR

well I suppose since this is the place with the most vampire information, at least that I have found, it would make sense for them to learn more about them from here. And maybe they want to ask others about them, in which case they need an account here, and maybe they'd find out that way that not all vampires are um... scary, lol.

Perhaps they seek knowledge to overcome their fear, perhaps they are merely toying with us - does it truly matter?

Although we can all sit and debate why someone who is supposedly afraid of vampires is here - wouldn't it be simpler just to ask that person?

People who ID themselves as vampires appear to seek reverence for their professed claim, I would not be in the least surprised if a person who IDs as a vampire started a profile just to potray a scared individual.

How would those who ID as vampires expect others to react to their claims.. ? Please spare me the Cliche "With Open Minds." It really is a dead horse catch all phrase.

No, the argument about people who aren't vampires or aren't interested in them used to apply somewhat when VR was the only Dark Network site. Now SciFi Section, Powerpunks, Gothic Invasion, and Bloody Feather are all connected to this forum. None of the other sites are vampire-oriented in any way. The question of why non vampire-oriented members are making profiles and posting in the forum IS obsolete.

Considering this is not a site for vampires, but rather to gather knowledge and items of vampire crap [as it was originally a database], who cares?

Vampires don't exist anyway.

The person has the same right as us all to make a profile.

William Shakespere said it most eliquently when he stated, "In time we hate that which we often fear."

To find vampires scary and to pursue this fear leaves one to believe that their statement is contradictory, yet understanding someone elses motives only creates a Pandora's Box. Therefore, if they begin to understand, even under false pretenses, they may begin to learn acceptance.

Acceptance that another persons possible delusion is real?

See because not everybody that claims to be a "real" vampire is believed by those who claim to be "real" vampires. So the skeptic is not the only discerning factor.

people do odd things when they fear something just to build up a tolerance for it.. i have an irritional fear of little people. i'm not trying to be ean, but they seriously frighten me, like to the pint where i shake and sweat when exposed to them. so what did i do? i got a job working with them, and while they still freak me out, i am able to function in society without looking weird. maybe that is the motivation.

It is my opinion that those who profess to be vampires secretly want people to be scared, or mystified. Perhaps this is why they continually state, "I am a vampire." Always looking to raise the question, are vampires real?

I still see no reference to bring scared of vampires,
Pretending to be a vampire is one thing, but pretending that people are scared that you may be a vampire, how amusingly delusional.

People are spooked by all kinds of things, we like to feel insecure for short durations, we get over it, and stop pretending.

No I do not think people are out to scare or mystifiy someone else, i think it is a journey of knowledge to understand a culture within the culture. To understand what is not know is to understand the reasoning within it. like a person who tears a amchine apart to understand its workings.

people come here to find others with the same feelings or understanding of their own.

As so many people stated that those who claim to be afraid of vampires yet have a profile on here are only here to "bash" on the vampire-life or what not, to you, I say that you could be right, but you could be dead wrong. Who are we to assume and/or judge why another person makes a profile on this site? If they're in it for the drama, claiming that they're terrified to get attention, or if you feel that way, then simply ignore them and go about your business. If you think they are here to "bash" you, then steer clear of them.

But what if they really are afraid of vampires, and are looking for a way to confront their fears instead of run from them? What if they are afraid of running from said fear? Doesn't that just make people seem like asses for assuming the worst? Are we, the people who are not afraid of vampires, welcoming them, and helping them by criticizing them? To that, I say nay. Believe it or not, there really are people who chose to confront their fears, rather than run from them for life, and it's not up to us to judge whether or not their fear of vampires should allow them to post a profile on a "VAMPIRE" based site.

However, it is true that since there are other groups of the Dark Network, they could simply have a profile on one of the other ones, and you could be seeing it here, which may be possible since I can see my profile in the SciFi Section as well as VR.

My point being, don't ridicule others for having a profile here, when you may not no their reasoning for doing so. It just makes you look like a jerk.

To fit in, not to be an outcast, dreams or fantasies within their own minds. life style in which they perceive or take their life.

There are many reasons and to the person maybe only one. Am a Vampire no, but i can physically feel power of others and do become energized by it.. is this vampiric, some cases maybe. Do i wish to be one.
Have love the mystery or lore or fascination within the realms of vampire lore whether book or movie.Yes.
To escape the life of this ruined world.

But each has their own reasons and logic behind their own life.

Well... the only real reason for fear is because people do not understand the thing that they are afraid of. So maybe people join vampire rave who are afraid of vamps just to learn more about them, and rationalize or erase their fears.

Or maybe they're just stupid. :P lol

Or they just want to see how redunant those who claim to be vampires, and they realized, that regardless of how hard people try to convince them their are vampires, the only thing to "fear" ( as in be concerned for) is impressionable Junior Collage age people professing to be an actual geneticaly different human.. That needs blood, do perhaps it us not vampires they "fear" but they are concerned for those who flock to such draining charactors.

Being and professing to be a vampire stems from a belief in that ideology, just like someone who professes to be a christain. There is no proof of "God" but they blindly believe in faith because they agree with the concepts they have learned or know no difference to believe otherwise.

Doru- a solid post,

People an their beliefs is what inhances the vampiric culture we see today. Many therios of religion or science is out there. and they believe in the path in which their life is being done.

This infact would hold the same meaning to the vampiric sub culture as the other proclaimed therioes of religion and science, to say I am a vampire- which holds true to the life and knowledge or the admiration of the persona that they take on.

Everyone here is drowning in a single drop of water, I believe a real vampire wouldn’t be saying "I’m a vampire" out loud, I think he/she would say it privately for those people they think worth of the knowledge and that they can trust with this issue, other than that I believe it could be people seeking for attention. Lifestylers should stop saying they are vampires, the website clearly states the definition of a vampire throughout the folk, stories and tales, if you are not a vampire as its specified in its meaning that the word represent then you are NOT. People who drink blood are not vampires, are sanguinarian, that doesn’t mean they have the lifestyle either, but those who practice the ritual often consider themselves as one just for the fact of consuming blood. I don’t think it’s a matter of fear more of intrigue that makes people come here, real vampire will find you if your worthy of knowing the truth, other than that you will just have people saying things they are probably not and confuse with other terms. Thereby I decided to post a new thread to separate thes confusion of this magnitude, its called “the real meaning of a self proclaimed vampire”, this will hopefully separate the confusion in both point of view.

Human behavior allows us to brush against our , "pet fears", fears we manufacture from common bases, monsters, but we are an easily jaded species, once the theateric representation wears off, then our behavior as humans allows us to pretend.. Make believe that it is somehow possible to be embodied by some esoteric definition of a fictitious creatures (Of course without all the restrictions, and short coming). So my question to those who profess to be vampires, . Why are you afraid of people not accepting what you profess?

I don't really understand why anyone who is probably a devout Christian and/or Catholic of any denomination would ever come in here, let alone start a profile. I don't even think that they are scared, they may have browsed some profiles, liked what they saw, and decided to post one. To hook up with someone in here or do some cybering with. To any of those people, get the hell out of here! Period! If you don't believe in Vampires, then by all means get the fuck out!

This site is for serious Vamps only! Some people choose to live their lives as such. Like me. Who gives a damn if they don't exist!

Well, that's the gag. I am here to tell you that it is very true. That Vampire does in fact exist. But not how the movies portray us.

First of all you don't wake up and poof, you are a Vampire. There are certain rituals that you take, even further you have to be converted over into another way of life. I'm not going to say what. It's just that you do. Once you have made that pact, and took the sacred oath. You perform a ritual of your own free will. And you will be transformed into a Vampire, among other things. The Vampire is just one of the ingredients in the cake. There's more....

You don't have to believe it. But the true Vampires know exactly what I am talking about. On top of that you are not even supposed to announce that you are a vampire. However, this is Vampire Rave, and thats why this site was created, for people like us, and not for wannabees like you! And you know who you are. So delete your profile, and get the fuck out.

Period!

First of all I read and study everything of my interest, I don’t dress, role-play, say I’m or want to be a vampire unlike you, I’m here to learn views on one or few of the vampirism topics of this forum, if you have any insecurities about what you are and your scared of what the others think of you ,why you come here blabbering and whining of people comments if it’s a forum, everyone can freely discuss a subject , you can just ignore the topic or reply with a reasonable statement, that is the purpose of the debate, and for your knowledge… vampire rave wasn’t made for vampires like you replied, read the rules and frequently asked questions and you will know the purpose of its creation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------"1. What is VampireRave.com?
VampireRave.com is the largest online database about everything vampire. We endeavor to catalog everything and anything about vampires.

2. Why do you do this?
The Vampire has always held my utmost fascination. Search as I might, I couldn't find a comprehensive online database about vampire fact, fiction, and lore. There are some very good websites out there (and some very poor ones too!), but no all-inclusive one-stop sites. So I made my own. " -Cancer
----------------------------------------------------------------------- Its called FAQ and its not to hard to find, i believe, it doesn’t talk about to whom the page was intended just to start, secondly I clearly stated my point on the topic when I said that about vampires wouldn’t say that out loud and that they might be confusing the term with the folk/lore description of a vampire, you clearly lack of reasoning and synthesizing a comment. When you understand the reason of this page and the purpose of a forum, you can speak your mind, otherwise remain silent, you are only making a fool of yourself and your intellectual capabilities of understanding the purpose of a debate.

Fear is a powerful emotion, it pumps the adrenaline, makes people feel extraordinary things. Some people seek out that feeling, maybe subconsciously, for reasons that would differ from person to person. And there would be reason to fear an in-the-flesh vampire. Whether it's the 'Nosferatu' or 'Intellectual/Modern' version of the vampire, they possess a power over humans. That's the reason the vampire is as popular as it is today. The thought of something with that power, especially to someone who was... into submission for example, would cause such fear and fascination and be all the reason you could possibly need to join a site like this one.

Valid post, may I expand to the fact that such fabricated creatures are a compilation of misunderstanding, or ignorance of biologic processes, as the understanding of physiology came about, the writers, formally adapting oral
Lore to printed text. Adapted the creatures to present a new take. Progressing to people who feel imagining vampires are real, and impressing the idea in others, is the new "bar" level.

RE:Its called FAQ and its not to hard to find, i believe, it doesn’t talk about to whom the page was intended just to start, secondly I clearly stated my point on the topic when I said that about vampires wouldn’t say that out loud and that they might be confusing the term with the folk/lore description of a vampire, you clearly lack of reasoning and synthesizing a comment. When you understand the reason of this page and the purpose of a forum, you can speak your mind, otherwise remain silent, you are only making a fool of yourself and your intellectual capabilities of understanding the purpose of a debate.

Well, I must have hit a nerve somewhere. I have receive numerous messages in my message center claiming that they felt where I was coming from and totally agreed with me 100%. My comments must have clearly upset you to the highest degree. To actually go and dig up the FAQ here on VR. However, I don't really care how you feel. My comment earlier is how I feel. And true enough some people do come here out of sheer curiousty and pure fascination. However, there are some people in here who ridicule us for being what we are. Just because they do not believe in who are what we say we are. And there are some folks who come in and infiltrate, do you know what that means?

I mean I wouldn't go to a Christian type of site, and ridicule them, post a fake profile, become friends, pretend to be down, when I'm only there to put them down in there ridiculous beliefs. The true Vamps on this site also come here to celebrate who they are, to befriend others, not to scrutinize or put anyone down.

I was a bit harsh on the words earlier, and if I offended anyone i sincerely apologize. However, I don't need you to point out any FAQ's to me. I know exactly what this site is about, that's why I am here. And I make no apologies for being who I am. I made alot of friends here, and formed alliances and relationships. And I'm not going to let you spoil it for me. Since this is the spirit of the debate right?

I also have a right to my opinions and facts. You don't have to like it. And do me a favor, just soak this up, take a deep breath, and don't even respond to this. Respond to the other posts. Have a great dark life!

Then present to support your adopted opinion, and "facts". Educate rather then debate.

You say you have numerous supporting messages, surely one of those has research links.

"in the spirit of debate, you told those who disagree with your reactionary

There has clearly been a misunderstanding. My post was not directed towards you, it was directed to: Mr. Revenous.

And this particular reference statement: RE: "in the spirit of debate, you told those who disagree with your reactionary Post to "Remain Silent"..

That came from Revenous. And there are no reference links for my support messages. Just a few people who cared enough to shoot me some supporting messages. I don't have to prove anything to you. You are making this into something more than what it is. Go back and read the entire message that the owner of this thread left. Then maybe you can get a clearer understanding of what the true intentions of this thread, not VR was seeking to create.

Enough about me already, let's get back to the original content of this thread please and thank you.

I think it's great that you want to celebrate your lifestyle, however, I also think that with some celebration, you have to be willing to accept that some people don't wish to celebrate with you, they only seek to gain a greater understanding of what a vampire truly is. I don't proclaim to be a vampire, nor do I live what has been come to be known as "the Vampire Life," however, I can attest to my fascination with the vampires of both lore and those who live the life, as being the main reason for my coming here. To me, vampires were never scary, yet I will admit that I am terrified of a lot of the darker things in life, and so, I came here, seeking knowledge so that I may rationalize those fears. You who think that those of us who are not vampires should just get out are allowed your judgment, however, I will not leave until I am satisfied that I have learned enough, that my fascination is sated, and that my fears are abated. Some people may also be here for the same reasons, and thus, it would be great to educate, rather than scorn those who are truly afraid and wish to confront that fear.

Dabbler,
I agree that the understanding of the vampire has been largely misinterpreted as it transferred from folklore to legendary, mostly due to a lack of scientific understanding of the body and processes after death. There is, however, a sort of truth to it as well.
Whether they exist or not though, there is truth in "to think is to be." A sort of, "the eyes see what the brain believes." If you feel you are a vampire, and you act as such, then you are a vampire for all intents and purposes. It's the same principle that makes sugar pills heal pain and depression.
Words adapt new definitions all the time, and so words like vampire become entirely relative. Because people adapt the persona of their understanding of vampyrism, and live with the knowledge they are such a creature, then the word vampire itself changes to encompass that person.
Of course the fault in that logic is that the obvious response to this is "Yes, but if that were true then if someone believed themselves to be a Tree frog, and lived their life as a Tree frog, then they would in fact a Tree frog by your definition, when clearly they are not."
Which of course is true. But I don't mean physiological changes, I mean psychological ones. If someone did believe wholly and truly that they were a frog, then they would be about as useful as one. They would live in a swamp, eat bugs, hop around, and look for their froggy partner. They cease to perform as a human would and instead adapt their new persona. Which in a manner makes them a frog. It's a dramatic example I know, but I needed something visual and obscure to convey my point properly.
And wrapping back around to my original post, a person who is a vampire through believing themselves as one, with his/her varied powers and personality traits, would and could still be an intimidating presence. Potentially causing the rush of fear that someone might look for. And if that was what someone really wanted, even subconsciously, they would seek it out the best way they could. And as no "yes I am 203 and have undeniable proof of that and my ample abilities" has produced itself, the psychological profile of the vampire is all the public can seek out. And they find it here.

FE:“Well, I must have hit a nerve somewhere. I have receive numerous messages in my message center claiming that they felt where I was coming from and totally agreed with me 100%. My comments must have clearly upset you to the highest degree. To actually go and dig up the FAQ here on VR.”

“However, I don't need you to point out any FAQ's to me. I know exactly what this site is about, that's why I am here.”

Don’t flatter yourself you did not “pushed any of my buttons”, some people need a reality check, and I’m happy to give it to you. And as for those whose must have stroke a nerve somewhere, the discussion was going perfectly fluent until you came along with your foul language and imperative desires to kick people that doesn’t goes along your beliefs, The reason I brought the FAQ here is for ignorants like yourself who says things like;

FE:“this is Vampire Rave, and that’s why this site was created, for people like us, and not for wannabees like you! And you know who you are. So delete your profile, and get the fuck out.”

Like seriously multiple assumptions out of context and reason. I never read anything like that in the rules; maybe you should reread it, if you actually read it in first place. You claim to know what is this website is about but you are just contradicting yourself in the previous post in correlation with the last one.

FE:“I don't really care how you feel. My comment earlier is how I feel. And true enough some people do come here out of sheer curiosity and pure fascination. However, there are some people in here who ridicule us for being what we are. Just because they do not believe in who are what we say we are. And there are some folks who come in and infiltrate, do you know what that means?”

“This site is for serious Vamps only! Some people choose to live their lives as such. Like me. Who gives a damn if they don't exist!”

First of all if you didn’t give a damn how I feel and what others feel about it, then why you are posting this and telling people to get the “fuck out” of your page?…, no one is talking about your ideals and bullshit, no one is pointing who is a vampire or not, people talk about what the topic is about, if it gets carried to the subject about vampires and sanguinarians it is just people ideas, you can reply them with a reasonable statement or you remain silent, read my post slowly and try to get it clear, No one comes here to infiltrate nothing, this site doesn’t say it is for vampires only, if you think the page doesn’t fill your expectations then you should just leave yourself and make your vampire exclusive website, here everyone has the same right to make a profile as much as you do, may it be Christians, skeptics, Goths, wannabes, lifestylers, vampires, aliens.. whatever out there, people state their opinions and ideas, if you feel you don’t want to mix your mature opinion there, then make your coven and have your own vampire forum where you can speak with your own friends in private, don’t come here telling everyone to fuck off.

FE:“ I don't need you to point out any FAQ's to me. I know exactly what this site is about, that's why I am here. And I make no apologies for being who I am.”

No one is telling you to apologize for being what or who you are, you are losing the point and already lost your reason, when you attacked back like you did, I don’t know who’s the Christian you been addressing to, but your are judging the people that made a profile without even knowing their beliefs, and you are asking here for clemency of your beliefs?

Reason the others statements before you type. When you know the meaning of a debate you come back here and express your ideas. No one will think alike when a debate is taking place, then it would be all understanding or Symposium, repeating the same idea with examples.

I notice a predominate fear in those who profess to be vampires. They fear being simple strugged of as another fringe psuedo-sub- culture. They feel that people will learn that they are shunned by factions in their own Psuedo sub culture, that once a person shows interest in no longer being a " donor".

Chianne, i understand perfectly what you are saying but he misunderstood my post and attacked as if I was attacking him back when its only a opinion about people misunderstanding other people when they claim to be “vampires”, I clearly posted:

FE:“Lifestylers should stop saying they are vampires, the website clearly states the definition of a vampire throughout the folk, stories and tales, if you are not a vampire as its specified in its meaning that the word represent then you are NOT. Thereby I decided to post a new thread to separate the confusion of this magnitude, it’s called “the real meaning of a self proclaimed vampire”, this will hopefully separate the confusion in both point of view.”

I made a thread specially to help those who confuse one thing with the other when you say you are a vampire, vampire is something everyone has in his head as the books or films, like why do you think people doesn’t bash the psy vampires? Or sanginarians? Everyone knows that people can really be like that, so they respect it, then people who say they are vampires everyone looks at them like roleplayers and lifestylers because they look pretty human/sang to them, with the exception that they call themselves vampires, and that’s when the bashing and bitching emerge.

Here we go again. If you read my post clearly, I stated that I was clearly out of line, in my first post when I cursed. I apologized for that. What I will not stand for is you insulting my intelligence. It's apparant that you are somewhat knew here. In my posts I was only referring to the ones who come in here and put others down for calling themselves vampires, because they believe that vampires doesn't exist, and that must be lunatics. I was referring to those types of people. Don't get it twisted. I was angry when I made my first post, and I blew off some some steam. I admit I was wrong for even telling those people to get the fuck out. I apologize to those people. Sincerely.

However, I am not going to take being ridiculed by you, any longer! Calling me ignorant and that I should leave, and I'm not.

RE: "No one is telling you to apologize for being what or who you are, you are losing the point and already lost your reason, when you attacked back like you did, I don’t know who’s the Christian you been addressing to, but your are judging the people that made a profile without even knowing their beliefs, and you are asking here for clemency of your beliefs?"

Whose profiles and what beliefs am I judging? I didn't lose my point or my reason. So far I haven't judged anyone's profile. In fact I give every profile I visit a 10 no matter what their beliefs are. Those in here that know me, can attest to that.

I haven't alienated anyone in here, in fact this is the longest drawn out post that I have made to date on this subject.

Look, bottom line, do yourself a favor and please do not talk to me. I told you before. Reply to the other posts. Because this is bullshit and nonsense. In fact, I know you are going to reply back crying and whining again.
I'll be the bigger man. I am not going to reply to any of your posts. So, just continue to ridicule me all you want.

You must be under 21 years of age. Gotta be. Because you are doing to much crying. Maybe this thread should be closed, by the originator.

FE:“You must be under 21 years of age. Gotta be. Because you are doing to much crying. Maybe this thread should be closed, by the originator.”

Some people never learn… Ok “bigger man” If I was in the case of being 21 years or under you should feel ashamed, because I actually understand the idea of debating and where to stop, as when the occasion merits it, unlike others, you are the one that have shown the lack and sense of matureness in this thread, And who started whining about the statements of others, happened to be no other than yourself. As for this:

FE:“Whose profiles and what beliefs am I judging? I didn't lose my point or my reason. So far I haven't judged anyone's profile. In fact I give every profile I visit a 10 no matter what their beliefs are. Those in here that know me, can attest to that.”

FE:“I don't really understand why anyone who is probably a devout Christian and/or Catholic of any denomination would ever come in here, let alone start a profile. I don't even think that they are scared, they may have browsed some profiles, liked what they saw, and decided to post one. To hook up with someone in here or do some cybering with. To any of those people, get the hell out of here! Period! If you don't believe in Vampires, then by all means get the fuck out!”

Now where did you take this from? Christians/Catholic denominations? Man, everyone has the right to come in here and do, talk, post, read, cyber whatever they want, why would you even put that in the first place? as far as I’ve being here I never look that way on anyone, I don’t agree with Satanism or Luciferianism, and I don’t hate you or say I don’t know why Satanist people came here and bashing my beliefs by a mere comment about vampires/sanguinarian? You just have to look away if you don’t like the comments or you can defend your point with reasonable ideas.

FE:”I'll be the bigger man. I am not going to reply to any of your posts. So, just continue to ridicule me all you want.”

No one is making you look more ridicule than yourself. I’m clearing your replies and assumptions. Please be the “bigger man” and remain silent for both of our times.

I had to address this, as it stuck out like a sore thumb:

"First of all you don't wake up and poof, you are a Vampire.

So delete your profile, and get the fuck out."

Your language aside, I had to point out that you say "true" vampires know what you're talking about. That's interesting, as everyone who claims to be a psychic/sanguinarian vampire will disagree with you and say you have to be born a vampire, and that no matter what you do, you cannot be "turned" into one.

Even IF your claim to a ritual was true, what physical changes take place to make a vampire any different from a "normal" person? They don't live forever, they aren't any stronger, better-looking, etc.; they can't survive on blood... Sounds like a human to me. If you can't find any physical changes, then that leads us to psychological changes, e.g. they THINK they're vampires. Some ritual.

Geez you guys sure love to cut and paste. Well, cut and paste this. It is not meant for you to understand or overstand for that matter. The Vampires you are referring to are Hollywood type of Vampires. Crosses, stakes, Immortality, coffins, silver, garlic. That is the entertainment of hollywood. Those are the types of Vampires they blasphemed and put into the horror movie pop culture.

The same thing goes for religion. Role reversals, creating devils, prophets and gods to keep humanity enslaved. Taking sacred bits and pieces of egyptian/mayan literature to destroy and manipulate the minds of the elite. To sum it all up in one word (repitillian and draconian).

No human can survive off of blood alone. Because to much iron in the blood can kill you. As does Vampire bats. It is not meant for you to understand. It's more of a psychological role play. Because people fear what they don't understand.

Even more so, I don't have to explain myself to you. However, if you must know the ritual I am referring to is purely Satanic and Demonic, you wouldn't know anything about that. That's why I said true Vampires know exactly what I'm talking about. Conjuring of past spirits and demons, then invoking them into. You must cross over to the other side to do that. Because it can backfire. Even some witches can relate to that.

It's also great that you can be under 21 and understand the spirit of debate. But you don't have to name call. I haven't said anything disrespectful to you at all.

I don't need you kids dissecting my words, and then drawing you own ridiculous conclusions. And I am not going to remain silent, in here. You just don't have to reply, and that will stop it. Reply to some other posters.

This thread Vampires scary, followed by a thread posting insisting that a member is "afraid" of astral attacks.. I have to make note if this, if everybody who is unconvinced to belief by those who profess to be vampires, then it is implied (by you) that they are afraid of vampires..

So the reason you believe you are a vampire is to avow that "You are no longer afraid."

Or they could accept that it is just a intense dream, related to a biochemical process, that occurrs as we sleep, it appears that those who profess to be vampires, and in the past those who wanted people to believe ghost "possesed" , or aliens abducted them, fear that the old interpite actual medical conditions as mystical is getting weaker everytime it is used.

The clearer you attempt to be, the more transparent your agenda becomes.

You seek people to come to you for "priest like counsolation", sort of " Others cannot relate to what you are feeling, (typical teen angst, exasterbated by developmental physiological occurances).

So do you fear not being taken seriously?

Psy and sang vampires are not depicted in Hollywood. Ever. They're what the vast majority of supernaturalists claim to be "true vampires." They are not immortal, can be killed just like everyone else, and they believe they need to feed on "energy" or blood along with their regular food. If you have a different definition of what makes a vampire, then out with it.

"Even more so, I don't have to explain myself to you. However, if you must know the ritual I am referring to is purely Satanic and Demonic, you wouldn't know anything about that."

That's a mighty heavy assumption, given you know nothing about my past. Also, yes, you do have to explain yourself if you want to be taken seriously. No one can just spout some unevidenced nonsense and expect that no one will challenge them to back it up. If you have no evidence to back it up, then by all means, admit it.

"It's also great that you can be under 21 and understand the spirit of debate. But you don't have to name call. I haven't said anything disrespectful to you at all.

Who's under 21? Last I checked, not only was that irrelevant, but I'm 21 anyway. Fantastic bunch of assumptions being made here.

And by the way, being openly condescending is a poor demonstration of the "spirit of debate."

"And I am not going to remain silent, in here. You just don't have to reply, and that will stop it. Reply to some other posters."

By all means, don't be silent. We need more debates in here. Just don't assume that others are going to be silent just because YOU have spoken. Especially when they can call you out on lack of evidence.

Oh La6Muerte66...(sorry if Im mis-spelling your name.its late.)

I've a question. Which applies more to the psychic vampires more than the sanguinarians...

If a psychic vampire has to be born and cant be "turned" what about those who are elderly and become sick, or develop diseases and appear to become psychic vampires in order to survive? Or even exhausted health-care workers caring for these people, who seem to contract symptoms themselves? Are you saying they always were psychic vampires, but the ability never manifested until they needed it to?

I've seen this first hand with an older relative who never showed symptoms of psychic vampirism until the last few years of his life, then very definately did...I would say he wasnt "turned", but then I dont believe he was naturally born to it either.

Although I don't believe in vampires period, Michelle Belanger (author of "The Psychic Vampire Codex,") those individuals would not be true vampires. As she puts it, if a person has low enough energy levels, they will begin to perform "sympathetic vampirism," which is a temporary condition.

I, however, would tell you the more realistic answer. What you've experienced is the physical, emotional, and psychological weariness of sick, elderly people as they get weaker, then the subsequent weariness by the staff taking care of them.

Well we are often drawn to what we fear the most. That's why horror movies are do popular. Fear draws us in. It's why some girls wanna date the bad boy and not the boy next door. It's why there are adrenaline junkies. So I believe a person fearing the unknown, perhaps for them that's vampyres, they wanna explore there darkside and fear and in doing so stumbled apon a wonderful site such as the rave and it beckoned to them to jion and explore their fear more.

La Muerte..thanks for the response.

What I saw was a great deal more than a sick individual getting weary as they got sicker. There was alot more to it, particularly in terms of manipulation and demands of a controlling nature.

But I think it may be something you'd need to see first-hand to fully understand what I'm getting at. I didnt buy into psychic vampirism either, but seeing it first-hand was pretty convincing.

"But I think it may be something you'd need to see first-hand to fully understand what I'm getting at. I didnt buy into psychic vampirism either, but seeing it first-hand was pretty convincing."

Firstly, you're welcome.

Personally, I'd want to see it just to figure out what's actually going on. See I USED to buy into psychic vampirism, until my viewpoint on what really constitutes evidence changed. If there is a naturalistic explanation for an event, then that is the explanation. It's a simple way to go. Just assuming it's a supernatural occurrence doesn't further our understanding, and therefore accomplishes nothing.

In the post it states "terrified" of vampires, I am curious ( and I have looked) as to the profile that says, or implies, that someone here is terrified of vmpires. Then it goes on to state, I thought this was a site to celibrate my lifestlye.. so it can be deducted that somehow those that are assumed to be terrified by vampires are somehow hindering your goal on VR.

Please produce the profile segment ( exclude names) that states or implies the member is " terrified by vampires" perhaps a those who profess to be vampires are to anxious to have people fear them.. yet they want to "assure that they are not bad vampires" so maybe some are more annoyed by those that profess to be like, but not like the movie vampires.

I would have to say that most that are afraid of them only know of what was told or shown to them. Many are not shown that vampires are not that bad,its the darker side of them that is taught to alot of people. If i am wrong on this please let me know. But that is what I see and what i hear.

As for me,I do not fear nor would i ever think that vampires are scary,I love them,i admire them,i welcome them. I know to much for my own good and its in my journal. But if someone is scared of vampires then i think they need to be shown what else is with the vampires, what else is behind them other then the scary fact that they were shown to have.

In days of old these mthical creatures may infact terrized the communities, yet in todays society they in some cases have become a extended sub-culture and the representation of movies creates more Vampires even today.

Revenous your right people who eat shell fish in resteraunts are scary. Almost barbaric.

Maybe their subconscious tell them to join even if their education it`s telling them to be scared.
First I was against all rock music... then I became more attracted to metal then the one who introduced me the "virus".

Let them come I say!
Besides, we need some adrenaline filled blood in here!

The home page of this forum states this:

Vampire Rave was designed as an online resource for the vampire community.

Therefore, I think that is self explanatory that this site accepts that there is one. This does not require anyone's belief but because this site says this those from the community should not be ridiculed. If you have no experience with it, etc. fine but I think any comment about it is from an uneducated standpoint. It amounts to being demeaned for no reason than skepticism which shouldn't be apart of this place due to its premise stated.

The rest is gaming more or less and no one is really screened and we have everyone from 13 up. Some will come here due to a fictional interest and that is fine but one must bare in mind when on this site what the home page says. Live and let live please.

As for scary I would think they are speaking of those who are out of the historical superstitions as revenants or more than likely those that have been made up by writers who have created them out of their imaginations in every form conceivable. Some are scary such as those from "30 Days of Night" which to me were like land sharks.

Those who affiliate with, or profess to affiliate with the community are regularly berating role players, and those who are content with mythology, and lore.

Even those professing to be in the community claim supernatural enhancements. By not offering an amended definition / criteria for what the community accepts as a fellow vampire?

The whole " People fear us." implication is self grandizment, by presumtion. How easily it is overlooked that there is no Profile Blurb stating " I am afraid of vampires." So the matter is basically hypothetical by default, serving those who wish to be omnious, and misunderstood. By confusing people , they think they are mysterious, by parlor tricks they make each other believe they are mystic.

I don't think vampires are really all that scary.

People taking things from you (especially things that you did not know COULD be taken (like trust, faith, innocence, energy, life... whatever) would definately cause a feeling of fear of violation.

Those who violate like vampires without professing to be vampires, and those who emulate or wish to be associated with such viooation, are all very scary things.

Most people who adhere to a lifestyle associated with vampirism or with energy manipulation do not associate tehmselves with the Violation aspect of the mythos; it is complicated by the image that those who affect a lifestyle attempt to portray.

Most of the people on this site, whether they are vampires or not, ask for (or give) permission for acts that would under other circumstances be considered violation.

There are some people that glory in confusing matters by deliberately misleading other peoples perceptions of their actual activities... in other words the same thing that was said while I was typing my answer.

(Affect = pretend to)
My blood sugar is way too low and I probably am not writing all too clearly.

Gordon, Agree 100%. The sensuality in the face of a Female Vam, is not the same at a man. Vampires are not scary, they are just misunderstood.

There is nothing to support the claim alluded to in the thread. This makes it
rather telling, a percentage of people who identify as vampires desperatly seek to be " spooky", but " understood".

*passes the popcorn*
Personally I have found other things in life that's scared the crap out of me and it's nothing vampiric at all. The vampiric encounters i've had through the years have been nothing but mysterious and amusing to me. I'm still trying to understand a few things myself and figured maybe if i came here and shared my stories with others about my experiences and dreams then maybe they can be related to other people here on this site too that can understand where i'm coming from.
I don't doubt the existance of the vampiric ones.
I am not going to sit here and say vampires don't exist or this and that doesn't exist like some people have here. However I can agree with some said points made by many here that those that make such bold claims should at least expect someone to doubt you, and those that RP it, doesn't make you one at all. You can pretend all you want but that isn't going to transform a person into one. I can put a horn on my forehead and whinny all day long, and that's not going to make me a f**king unicorn. Have some rainbows draped around my room and worship pegasus for the rest of my life and i'm pretty sure i'll still be human. I think by blood it runs deeper than just rituals even. It's all symbolism. Some things are just naturally more powerful than anything material can give you.

When people cross the line, they usually declare that nobody understands them. Yet they offer no reasoning to ammend a Arc-type based ( with few exceptions) on mythology, and lore. Blurring for the appearance of " depth" the line between a subculture socity, and some abstract idio synsism is a desperate attempt to turn fad into something " Culturally Glamorous", at the same time as " Mystic".

As revenous pointed out in another thread, I tend to reexamine those who
Go as Vampyre, and Sanguine (sp). I even find RP , and LARP more suitable to the Arc Type then the Gratuitious Presence lately.

Why must a person who claims or have traits such as vampiric scary?

There is other things in this world more scarier than the vampire persona. ( War, killers on the streets, econimic woes) These are more scarier than this persona.

Those who propagate such obsurd hypothetical quandries secretly desire to be " indimidating" by proxy to a mythological being. Same as those who obsess over "Questions for a vampire".

It is the same as the kid who claims to be a trained ninja.
