Demonic possession is often the term used to describe the control over a human form by Satan himself or one of his assigned advocates. Descriptions of demonic possessions often include: erased memories or personalities, convulsions, “fits” and fainting as if one were dying. Unlike in channelling or other forms of possession, the subject has no control over the possessing entity and so it will persist until forced to leave the victim, usually through a form of exorcism. Other descriptions include access to hidden knowledge and foreign languages, drastic changes in vocal intonation and facial structure, sudden appearance of injury (scratches, bite marks) or lesions, and superhuman strength.
Many cultures and religions contain some concept of demonic possession, but the details vary considerably. The Roma people believe that demons can also possess animals, plants, deceased persons or inanimate objects.
The oldest references to demonic possession are from the Sumerians, who believed that all diseases of the body and mind were caused by "sickness demons" called gidim or gid-dim. The priests who practiced exorcisms in these nations were called ashipu (sorcerer) as opposed to an asu (physician) who applied bandages and salves. Many cuneiform tablets contain prayers to certain gods asking for protection from demons, while others ask the gods to expel the demons that have invaded their bodies.
Most illustrations portray these spirits as small, gruesome characters with inhuman distinctiveness. Often referenced as a witch’s “familiars” demons and other evil-spirits employed by witches are also displayed as society’s cast-offs or those beings incapable of caring for themselves thus seeking refuge with a witch. Witches would provide shelter and nourishment via the “witch’s teat” in exchange for the valuable services of the familiars in addition to spells, potions and other attempts by a witch to cause evil or “maleficium” over another.
Shamanic cultures also believe in demon possession and shamans perform exorcisms too; in these cultures often diseases are attributed to the presence of a vengeful spirit or (loosely termed) demon in the body of the patient. These spirits are more often the spectres of animals or people wronged by the bearer, the exorcism rites usually being comprised of respectful offerings or sacrificial offerings.
The Malleus Maleficarum speaks about some exorcisms that can be done in different cases. Depending on the severity of the alleged possession, solutions range from prayers of deliverance to the Solemn Rite of Exorcism as practiced by the Catholic Church.
So, what is your feedback? Can humans be possesed by demons or is it muliple personality disorder? Do you believe they exsist? What is the tie between demonic possesion and religion?

Priest have admitted to practices that craft around claims of demonic possession, using ventuliquism, and suggestive prompts, impulsive behaviour, and dissaccoitatuve personality disorders, or extreme social anxiety, acting out can embarrass a person.
so to excuse such behaviour as demons , is far more sensational. Then admitting that something is being repressed emotionally.
In modern times we understand psychological and physiological disorders can lead to errant behavior. I believe that possession through history was used to explain that errant behavior.
As the saying goes...
People fear what they don't know.
Throughout early history people feared things they couldn't see or understand. That why "vampires" explained certain diseases.Demon Possession explains seizures, brain trauma, mental illness, and other ailments.Demons do not exist, much like other myth and legendary "creatures" in our vast history.
Human behaviour also accounts for those who persit with such outdated religious practices for pious reasons. Remember the Vatican was off and on with sanctioning exorcisms, because they became so fad. Of course since they did not outright denounce possession, their was still "rogue" priest being sought. When I am able I will put up some notable videos of current
Professed possessions done on tape.
Sheesh, I'm TIRED of this "scientific age". Everything MUST have a logical explanation behind it. And for the things we don't have logics for, we have to assess them like we do. And we wonder why people don't enjoy discovering life anymore.......................what's the point when our fellow "Einsteins" can ruin it for us.
What also gets me are the people who have "spiritual beliefs", but deter their beliefs, for scientific evindence. So what's the point in believing if you ignore a basis for your particular belief?
I believe in demonic possession because THERE IS something bigger than ourselves out there, and that consists of God and Satan.
Also, I have been to exorcisms for fellow relatives and friends, and there was NO mental problems.
Disect this and us it against me. I know Dabbler will.
Alright dabbler, you're a cool guy and all but please find a new word to describe holy rollers. "pious this, pious that, pious, pious, pious." u know it's Pretty Pitiful that Pious is the only word u can use to describe PeoPle.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure that some people can be telling the truth about the exsistance of demons. How do you explain some things that have happened. I myself have a couple of firsthand accounts. Am i crazy? You're gonna say yes aren't you?
People who have faith and belief in something "beyond" our knowledge and control is associated with the seeing is believing idea.If you watch "faith healers" on TV...where they touch a person and that person falls back...because they saw the person before them do it.Most of them have faith that the man/woman's touch healed what was ailing them.In reality they a followers of seeing is believing....and assumed they had to fall back because it was called for.It is called the placebo affect and that's how you get people to believe in something that isn't true. The people who believe in Demonic Possession have the right to have that belief...but they witness an exorcism and believe what they see is a "demon" speaking...the person "possessed" also believes in it...then they are "possessed".It's just smoke and mirrors, you can't be possessed by fantasy but you can believe it to be true.
This I'd in no way conductive to a discussion. It us for you to refute my post.
Your post offers no content to support your adopted/ adapted opinion. You are dealing in absolutes. You are rather irrate.. Perhaps you have caught an obessession with possession. Pious people are those who profess signs and wonders simply to gain attention in religious folds. It is very common to find that such people are less the devoted to established religious formality, whole sects are started by people claiming to rebuke demons.
I know more people who where once convinced that possession exist phase out of the ideal.. then any recorded account of one of any proclsimed exersism.
As reasonable people, we should look for the most likely, most reasonable explaination of events. Sometimes there aren't simple explainations. Sometimes they can't be explained.
Yes, many have faith in a deity. Yes, many belief systems have a good and bad supreme power.
But there is no reason to settle on supernatural explainations before we search out simpler ones for these seemingly unexplained events.
I suggest we keep our minds open to all explainations, be it scientific or supernatural.
If we all keep open minds, we can agree that there are things that are unexplainable as well as agree that there may well be simple answers. Let's just agree to seek out the simplest answers first.
Some folks refer to this as Occum's Razor. The simplelist answer is probably the correct one.
Sheers to that...
If the demonic possesion of Emily Rose was a "true story fact" then why can't it be both?, a psychiactric illness and supernatural account as well?,maybe inside all that madness she subconciosly experienced such things as weird dreams and fucked up things going on on her head that made her delusional/lunatic and subsquently shifts of personality...just speculating, not setting absolutes assumptions..
Im not irate. But i seemed to have made you that way. But anyway, yeah i guess I could be both ways... but i'm not trying to make anyone mad. Just trying to open up peoples eyes to new possiblities.
There is nothing new too demonic possession, behavior studies of people caught in the hysterics of demonic possessions has shown that social repression, erodes coping skills, and creates a impulse control deficet , similar to Tourettes'.
Families of people with impulse control, and social pathologies are likely to
deny any pathology.. but will accept any declaration of possession.
I was referanceing bloodmother.
Please refain from insisting, " someone will call me crazy." that is a taunt.
~looks at all of you an shakes my head~
It's not just possession that causes illnesses according to shamanism...and the only opinion that ultimately matters is the patient in question.
Scientists have proven that placebos given to patients who arent told the pill is a placebo, can be just as effective as the real pill itself.
Some psychologists have been experimenting with shamanic practices in the treatment of certain mental disorders, with some success, and people have been known to die simply because they believed it. (From such things as non-lethal single gun shots.)
Mind over matter. If someone believes they are possessed by the devil, working within their belief system can be the best way to go. No need to argue and fight over who's "reality" is "bigger".
Just sayin'.
i believe in demonic possession the same way i believe in bipolarity or ADHD
and for some who believe in demonic possession or that they are possessed there are little pills available
too many self titled investigators have no interest in deducting motives associated with a person acting possessed.
A once popular study involved not a possession, but allesged poultergeist activity, centered around a socislly repressed female. Tina Resch.
Okay so we are agreeing to disagree.
I'm just saying science can't explain EVERYTHING. That's a futile mission. I don't think they'll EVER be able to.
"A man who thinks he knows everything is a fool. "
I believe in the story of Emily Rose , but not the Black Water possession.
Agreeing to disagree is a fallacy of logic, you follow them with more ultimatums. These "unknows" you claim are declared unknown yet here you are expounding on .. What you profess to be unknown.
Why not define that which we do agree on?
"The devil is in the details."

Okay, I have to know... Why is the unexplainable or the unexplained so hard to accept as a reality? For example, why are some people able to explain things that others didn't think of? Examples would be, Edgar Cayce or Nostradamus, if you dare. Even if you could call them crazy or insane.... people still listen to what they had to say and take them seriously. Of course when you people look at things the way you do.... with a reasonable explaination behind everything. I'm wanting to know why things have to make sense all the time.
I think demonic posession is possible in a number of ways. Yes the whole placebo thing would be a way to 'explain' it. However demons, do exsist. If not in a physical, but in a transcendental sort of way. We all have personal demons and we can become 'posessed' or immersed in our own personal lives without thought or care of what others may think.
Demons are malignant spirits and if you haven't noticed there are plenty of them around.
**And for the record, Nephilim are the children of demons and humans. Still thought to be among us today. Again, not proven, but still possible**
(but I personally that they physically exsist as well.)
As for La6Muerte66 I would hate to be the lawyer trying to throw you in jail ;)
You are aware that nobody will be covinced by your post, just as you will not
Accept this statement ( same as yours inverted) " Demons do not exist."
So perhaps the later half makes a better case. Demons exist in peoples minds. Then it is a phycological matter then.
Yes, I agree with you, the supernatural would be a pathetic explaination. (I should know about bad explainations I live in oklahoma... apparently bigfoot lives here!) For things like, the Oklahoma version of nessie (tourist trap) to things genuinely bizzare like ghosts. Most of it is people wanting to find an excuse. A reason to say that science is by no means right.
However some things are real. Yes, there are a lot of hoaxes out there, but some of them are real. Sometimes there is no way to prove it isn't.
(To quote a a favorite band of mine) "Science fails to recognize the single most potent element of human exsistance. Letting the reins go to the unfolding is faith." - System of a Down
And nephilim weren't just giants for your info... (lol check out the Book of Enoch at your local library)
and you're welcome cause it's true. sorry but perry mason aint got shit on you lol
I've never been one to respect faith. lol. You should know this already.
As fundamentalist Christians will tell you, the Nephilim are supposedly the "giants" referred to in the Bible. While it's entirely bullshit, here's a reference anyway.
LOL. Yeah they may bring up those questions. However, those people who truly have a healthy belief system, revel in those questions while watching happily as you are dumbfounded and with no explanation.
(lol I'm sorry, I don't mean to be condescending. I just love the witty banter i can only get from you lol)
There are even things that believers will not accept, or subscribe to.
It is presumtious to assume everybody you share your faith with is dumbfounded, just as presumptious as assuming all believers are like deers in headlights.
i think that demonic possesion has happened, is happening, and will happen. like anything else, the more it happens, the less impact it will have. i don't know how many of you read fantasy, but i would consider possesion more ike the f'dor of the symphony of the ages series by elizabeth hayden. unless it is a mutual joining of spirits, no "spirit, force, ext..." can take possesion of any other unless it is more "powerful" than the other. suggestion on the other hand is more likely, as it isn't as invasive. we are subject to suggestions of all kinds everyday, mostly harmless. i've not recieved anykind of training that would allow me to "protect" myself from any type of attack other than physical, nor have i dabbled by myself in anything along those lines. however, i feel that the stronger a person's "self knowing", the less likely they are to be the target of such an attack anyway. after all, when attacking someone physically, the "big guy" is the last one you wanna mess with.
I don't know who you're talking about, La6Muerte66 but it isn't about me. I (personally) don't really believe in anything. I simply let others believe what they want to. I kind of enjoy waching them benefit from some form of belief. Some people need something like a God/ allah etc... to believe in. It seems that I don't though.
But I do believe in demons somehow...(don't ask me how its supposed to make sense) I guess i've had too many personal experiances with things of that nature to not believe.
Euterpe, I'm talking about believers in general. Much like yourself. Nothing specifically directed at any one person.
(Dabbler quit confusing Euterpe and I or we are going to have some SERIOUS issues.)
I TOTALLY agree with ziddicous, he said exactly what I wanted to say. ~claps~
What I gathered from his post is that he has no experience in the supernatural (as with everyone else), and he believes exactly what he wants to, because he lacks the experience to prove or disprove it. Taking examples out of fiction is a huge tip-off.
how do we know what the "truth" is?
answer me this simple question please.
Why do people profess knowledge of things they dub " unknown" can you answer me the simple question?
Euterpe...
"Okay, I have to know... Why is the unexplainable or the unexplained so hard to accept as a reality?"
Probably because we're talking different realities in conflict. For those who believe in the unexplainable, it's part of their consensual reality. And for those who believe in the scientifically explained, that's their consensual reality. The problem lies with the fact that for most people, they fall into one of those two camps exclusively, and due to the conflicting nature of those realities, there's very little middle ground.
But for each camp...these realities are absolutely real. Makes for alot of arguing when they meet.
La6Muerte66...
"Truth is backed by evidence and is impartial. If there is more than one version or interpretation, then none of them are the truth."
And that's part of the problem with the concept of truth. So much of it is subjective, always open to interpretation. Even when it's recorded by way of a camera, either photograph or video...eyewitnesses will give varying accounts at least until they see the video footage, and even then....people will still argue over the interpretation of what they see.
Making "truth" extremely rare if not outright non-existent.
What is a demon anyway? If you bring up God and Satan then you are speaking of religious views of a certain group of people. The demon was not considered evil in the past and has changed its meaning over time. People use that word for concepts from older civilizations but did they use the word that actually means demon when translated or is it the only way to relate to what was being discussed because the culture believed in being possessed by something?
Those with a religious viewpoint that is relatively modern will see demons. Those without this view will see mental health issues. You can debate on this but there is no answer. Obviously something we don't understand is going on. One can extrapolate from a religious viewpoint but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the correct answer. Perhaps fear is part of this and you receive the answers you want because that side of whatever it is or from the person's psyche knows what you want to hear and what will scare you or reinforce the superstitious side of the belief system involved.
We are considered to be in a more modern age. Many of the religious groups and I say this because I don't want to specify any one of them are trying to bring views into this age and be more scientific about them. They are trying to keep their tenets in tact but not over reacting due to old superstitions they have grown past. This does not discredit happenings but when you get down to the crux of the situation, all that can be expressed about it is personal view, due to background and beliefs. Whether someone has been involved with an exorcism still doesn't mean one knows what was really happening to the person. If everyone knew this answer then we could protect ourselves or get this entity out of the person easily or solve a medical/psychological condition if that is what is happening. I know this is a rationalization but they didn't know about people having multiple personalities, not to be confused with schizophrenia, until relatively recent. Why can't this be some sort of dissasociative behavior we just haven't recognized in society beyond old superstitious viewpoints? I am not saying this is my belief but I am saying in a nutshell, no one has yet figured out what is happening beyond religious viewpoints.
Something to consider in reply to the question, What is Truth.
What is "truth"? The quest for it can be more than a little confusing. Respected web sites, and books can affirm anything you need or want to believe. There is only one demand of self delusion: you must be selective in the amounts of reading, and thinking that you intend to do.
Some notions are easier to believe then others. |Arguments that genuinely respect reason and evidence require simple attention to be convincing. Arguments more careless in upholding reason and evidence require more than this. They must make up in repetition what they lack in power.
Philophies of the most doubtful kinds require the most avid reading. The are less arresting, and individuals find them sensible only be devoting more minutes to reading their merits than to pondering their loopholes.
From "The Eclectic Razor"
(1979)-S.O.
I guess if you look at it that way, yeah, but people enjoy arguing sometimes it keeps life interesting. As for the whole 'truth' argument. I didn't ask about the truth or whatever when I made this thread. But since it was brought up, yes the truth is subjective. People believe what they want to and that becomes the truth to them. Although it might not right, its what happens.
All philosophy is, is someone's viewpoints logically structured, according to them that appeal to numbers. I think quotes (not yours, speaking figuratively) from people like Kant, and others are merely restating their opinions. I find it interesting but nothing more than being enamored of a poet. I don't necessarily accept it as truth because they have viewpoints esteemed by a large group of people. It is the same with possession, we each have our views and because someone "says' it's real doesn't make me a follower. Belief is belief and truth is also the same and individual. Most often religion is brought into everything but in my mind that is a tad under handed assuming everyone has the same belief system or theirs is the only one with the right answers when there are things written in other cultures from other perspectives. Many times this cannot be avoided since everything in older times sort of coalesced. Now we have the modern age of science and trying to prove the facts through experimentation, but one cannot prove this with science as yet and may never be able to because there are things we just don't understand and can't figure out. Even in certain subgroups of physics they cannot figure out how things do what they do, all they know is certain things act a certain way. I personally don't believe in demons as most describe and to explain the reasons why would mean many pages of reading for you, lol :) I will abstain on it.
Ah, but then you get into perception again. Where does one draw the line and finally definitively say something is a fact? In some cultures, the behaviors and certain signs would be accepted as reality for demonic possession. Then we get to definition of what the word means and a whole list of boring debate. You will always have three obvious views. Some will say they just don't know what to believe and remain neutral, others will go from an either religious and/or metaphysical view or some will just be skeptical no matter what amount of evidence is shown unless that demon walks up to them and introduces themselves and proceeds to terrorize them. We consider ourselves modern but as you can see many believe in demons and demonic possession in an age that is supposedly enlightened and no matter how you look at it, it is believing in the paranormal.
I can assure you that people will always use demonic possession as a convient excuse for impulsive behavior, the added bonus is that they can say
demon like things to those around them that have have such repressed disdain for, and they never have to apologize.. or openly engage in exercising their emotional ( complex) issues manifesting as impulsive " demonic activity" .
I believe it depends on what happening.. we need to investigate could it be the person has and illness or could it be an actual entity possesing the person body..... If we based it on empirical and experimental and on the DSM-IV-TR- MENTAL DISORDERS it will clarify what possesion is actually about.. Mental disorders.... Tourette syndrome, or tics, schizorphrenia to others that would be consider according to the person evaluation and case history........ But if we based it on supernatural and spiritual events then we explored that their are unrested souls looking for a way for their soul to be at rest,, and are willing to grab attention to gain it purpose... from object flowing in the air and the bed and person levitating or maybe by ther person being transfigured before the person eyes to any kind of form the entity wants....So depending on what taking place and investigating the paranormal phenomenon we can make a conclusion ....... Ultimately Science and Religion become one because they are both after the same...
Science and religion are after the same
I ask, the same what?
The same funding, probably. Only one actually wants to use said funding to help people.
Oh damn...
Whats with the song?? the trhead is about demonic possesion not pony missions to rainbowland, you shoud've brought Slayer or Canibal Corpse ~Mss~mwahaha..i like it tho.
Just liked the song, I listen to lots of different types of music, I just thought the songs called Possession so.
Can humans be possesed by demons or is it muliple personality disorder?
I believe so, in fact I believe that in some of the cases of multiple personality disorder it is really possession. I also believe that there are many people in insane asylums that will be there as long as they live because they are possessed and we don't know how to diagnose it or deal with it with drugs and the likes.
Do you believe they exsist?
definately
What is the tie between demonic possession and religion?
religion is a thing of choice and decisions, possession is not always either
~waves at the destiny above her~
Well, this whole thread has gotten off track. I asked about demonic possesion, not philosophy and science and stuff
Humans can be possessed by demons but it can be very difficult to distinguish the difference between an illness and actual possession.
Why do you think there are so many Gangs members, who can go into an unknown human being, blow their brain out, and then, go and talk about it like a game? those are human possessed by demons. How can a 8 years old girl, be raped and killed by a woman, who preach to god every Sunday? My opinion, got to be something from hell.
Hey man, I am not sure am I possessed or what, but I gotta be, I cant see if it is blue or raining, day or night, food doesnt taste anymore, I am constantly bored, mischief is on my mind and I am always feeling hot. I am not sure of anything, but it sure feels good! :) How are you?
i believe it is posable but as for the takeing out of a demon or haveing one leave the body , i would have to say is nothing to fool around with if you dont know what you are doing leave it alone .
why take risks you dont need to.
I believe in possibilities rather than accepting/dismissing by un-experienced judgement or hear-says from others; 'even if its scientific', If this demonic possesion is a possibility of existence "out there" like many claim around here; I don't dismiss the assertion of the authentic acknowledgment of it, but if it can be cast out as many have brought in to discussion then I "guess" it could also be casted in. If someone knows how to cast in a "demon", then wouldn't we have a crazy possesed individuals in current times? specially most of those who practice the luciferian/satanic rituals and arts as following ground on their doctrine. And what remarks would you hold to label an individual as for demonic? how would you separate the insanity from the possesor? what kind of behavior affirms the diseased/possesed is in fact another being inside the pod? speaking another language could be a start, only if you know the other language, if not it could be just gibberish noise and misinterpreted> misdiagnosed>not possesed> no demon> nada supernatural.
Is not about "science era" that clouds everyone with the vast majority of negative judgement(seemed) in here, is the word of reasoning that provoke such harsh bridge of communications between scientific and theological groups> as for that i can see the problem and both sides hold validation on reactionary; the theologic group are fond with the old ways of conveying for truth and could take everything in a "factible" scope yet envelope itself in that froze notion closing the windows for new things to refresh and as for the scientific group,- vastly believe everything can be postulated with few discoveries, every single one of them often arranged/fixed/modified/reviewed in time by the ever growing of new "interpretations", technologies and reading "diagnosis" of everything for everything, science often dismiss everything that in some eyes maybe be " the caveman way of conveying for truth or fact" which is normally ignorant as well; both party actually sharing the common denominator of being ignorant in judgement.
I like to think everyone is a world inside the world we live in and for somethings it could not hold an evidence yet that doesn't nominate the reality it holds on others, somethings are fabricated, others have no reason of fabrication nor gaining of witness, one can only be the experiment to accurately judge with reasons.
I believe that demonic possession is possible. However, one must not be too quick to discount the scientific reasons that such a thing might be believed, like dissociative personality disorder.
Obviously it is possible for humans to be possessed by demons.
Demons live among us.
Demons are the things that move things out of thin air..that try to scare us by appearing as ghosts and such.
So yes, I believe it is possible.
I do believe in the existence of Demons. I think it is possible get possessed by Demons, and also be followed around by one. If stories of Demonic possession stretch far back in history, then why would anything change just because the television's been invented? The supernatural and the unknown is not just something that appears in films, and just because we are so advanced in technology does not mean that these things have just gone away. I dislike the way that people think the 'modern world' is a completely different world to the old one. Technology has advanced, there are WAY more people, but why should anything about the supernatural change, just because fewer people believe it to be real and think it just something from tv?
Having a demon stick to me is one of my worst fears. I have seen possessions and exorcisms a few times, they were interesting experiences.
i too beleive in demons.a friend of mines father a very religous man and totally a pillar of the community told me something that happened to him.whereby he is getting tormented by demons trying to break him.i also have another friend from this sight who made a mistake and is also bieng tormented by a demon
multiple personality disorder
[dissociative identity disorder]
i agree with dark wolfman to a dagree. the mass will cling to the simplies and most basic explanation to solve the problems. thus they all so fear what they don't understand. possesion is indeed possible.
What is not understood?
As if those who do profess demon possession "an absolute possible thing".
Then a great contradiction exist here.
Just as almost any unfortunate occurrence in Eastern Europe was blamed on a "vampire" whether that occurrence be a bad fire, a failed harvest, or a sudden sickness, so also is the supernatural blamed for anything else without an obvious explanation. And perhaps the most ancient "scapegoat" of all when someone acts strangely or has some sort of mental illness is to blame it all on some unseen "demon."
While understandable and excusable in ancient times amongst ignorant populaces, yet we ought to have advanced just a bit beyond the need for unseen scapegoats in this day and age.
- Upir'
If Demon possession is indeed actual, then damn the established religions for not establishing clinics, and teaching protection for the spiritual health of their cogragants. If I am to accept the concept of Demon Possession then I have a few Demanding Questions.
1. Is the church able to explain why even devote members become possessed?
2. Why has medical science exercised, or bound more demons then Occult practices, and Established religions combined?
why is it that once science gets involved everything else is bull-$%^& why cant psychological disorder be the scientific explanation for how possession works instead of the reason be act in a matter that people once thought was becuz possession
Domenic possesion and mental delusions are different. That's why less church authorities beleive in demonic possesion.
When all physical possiblities and tests are negative to mental disorders and disfunctions, only then is possesion a possiblity.
It is still done-exorcisim, but kept quiet as possible.
Most demonic possesions are from someone challenging or inviting a demonic spirit into themselves as proof they exist.
Not a wise choice to make.
I watched two on Prarnormal State once, and have to say both were cases of wanting attention rather than true possesion.
I met a priest not to long ago and we got on great. He is a really nice guy and was teaching health and social care in a college.
He is an ex-army medic fluent in eight languages, and turned to religion because of what he had seen and been involved in. For that I respect him. (Dam brainy bastard lol)
I do not believe in possession as I have actively been attempting to be possessed for more than 20 years..to satisfy my curiosity. As well as doing other strange things*coughs* Not a wise choice lol is that right!
Because he was aware of what I do and was as curious of me as I was of him, and because he had traveled the world as a soldier and as a priest, we shared thoughts on possession.
He told me he had only come across one case in India where a woman was possessed, he said she knew things about him which she shouldn't of known. She spoke in a different voice, that of a male.....not like in the films where they sound...well like a monster. This lady was clear and very able to be understood. As a medic he said that he was well aware of mental health issues and this was very similar but not the same. It took two days for a group of holy people from this village to heal her.
Interesting story however, I still don't believe in demonic possession....how can I, when I don't believe in God!
In my general point of view as a paranormal investigator, I am a HUGE skeptic, I view demonic possession just like I view hauntings...you may or maynot have something paranormal happening in your home but that doesnt mean its a spirit. I can say I have seen my share of cases were things cant be explained as well as cases supported by facts were a spirit was in fact present. As for demonic possession most is explained very simply and accounted to mental disorders caused by dementia, ect. I mean theres a grocery list of possible causes. I do admit there are a few holy grails aka cases were the said possession can be nothing more the authentic but the proof has to be in the putting and not conjecture or speculation :)
There is a greater likelihood that "possession" is para-behavioral, socio-matic, that( though not spiritually phenomenal ) is still rather peculiar.
If one wants to see a case for Poltergeist, I suggest Googling The Tina
Resch case. It could just as well have been a "possession".
