Who wonders if all spirits who wander are lost?
Are they or aren't they?

I don't think that all spirits are lost because they could always be reincarnated or the gods could decide o let you into Summerland.

Some ghosts are earth bound if not all for one reason or another. But none are lost they all know where they are going.

No..In my tradition we are taught that not all who wander are lost. Some chose to wander than to return for reincarnation. They still cling to the life and memories they left behind and refuse to give it up. They chose to do this, they aren't lost, just misguided.

I think they are here for a reason. Like maybe some unfinished business

Some ghost just stay to be close to the ones they loves i believe.

Most spirits, don't know that they are dead, maybe they became attached to a person/place/thing that even when they were alive they never wanted to leave.

They're sad because of the way they died or left things before they died.

To warn and protect of what happened to them.

They are angry they are dead.

Or like I said, they don't know that they are dead, and are continuing to live their life as they knew/remember it.

Some aren't ghosts, but entities, such as elementals, the elemental of a piece of land/tree/river etc, they an either protect you, their natural object, or abhor you and protect their natural object.

You never know, what you are truly dealing with. Ever.

A thread similar to this is here, yet in my mind why would a spirit be lost, for it would maintain the life it does no, saying the spirit still has thought. so no not lost

To be honest being earth bound would be a little bit of a heaven for me... to wander the world freely.
I can't assume they are lost souls, not everyone goes to a heaven or paradise... maybe walking the world is an option until one chooses where to go or what to do?

MMmm...tricky question. To be lost, is because, first you must try to go from point "A" to pint "B". and you did not got to either one. Spirit to decide to "stick" around our "plane", have a reason as why they prefer to stay. can be attachment to a mundane world or because they have unfinished business to take care. But, what if the theory of spirit being loss is a creation of a "smart" brain to control others.

personally, i feel that they are not all lost or sad for that matter. some chose to say even though they are dead, to still do what they feel that they have to do. and that could be anything that anyone can think of.

they have the choice in the end if they want to go to the next plain (how ever you view the afterlife), get back on the merry-go-round and have a new body and life, or they can do what they need to do as a spirit.

I doubt if they are lost, more like trapped.
They either wish not to move forward because they refuse to believe they are gone of this world, or perhaps it is like a "Earth bound Purgatory" for them, if you ever read the old testaments.
It would also depend on whether or not it was a intelligent haunting; (interactive) or a habitual haunting; ( repetitive).

I'm sure some spirits that remain are lost, wandering, trying to figure out where to go, but I think the majority have probably died a very sudden traumatizing death. I think that's the only thing that could really keep a spirit here.

I know some paranormal themed shows say that some noise that they hear are from the past. I can't remember the exact term for it, but they say it's like a tape recorder rewinding and playing over, and over again. Thought this phenomena makes sense, I don't really believe in it happening. I can understand the spirit going back, retracing steps and words that could be labeled as that kind of phenomena. But I'm not exactly convinced that a spirit's actions in their life before death is rewound and replayed.

I support one of the most original ideas of why spirits are here, is that they have unfinished business. If you die and your spirit doesn't move on with you than that means something is undone that you need to be done to rest. When i think of that and wonder if spirits might be lost i think not. They are not lost of what they need done to move out they are just waiting it out till the task is done.

Not all spirits are lost. The reason they remain instead of moving on is due to either the way they died,felt like they had unfinished business or a combination of the said 2 and many other factors. Some realize they are dead and if they were murdered they start to try and contact people to help solve the case. Others may not realize they are dead and need help in realizing that they are and can then move on.

No they are not, they go back to there loved one to be there guardian angel, there is a reason people say for those who die come back as another or animal, spirits are part of our living world they are the ones who we can always trust to be there forever.

Not all spirits are lost...I'm sure there's a few stuck in one place due to their soul not being released for whatever reason, but there are some who are still here to protect and watch over their loved ones. Sort of like they're a person's guardian angel.

I have a friend who passed when we were 17, and he's been by my side since then. He died in my arms, and I don't go a day without talking to him and knowing that no matter what happens within my life, that he'll always be right there to catch me when I fall. He's not lost, he just wants to be sure that I'm well taken cared of and all, and maybe one day when I'm fully happy he'll leave, but with all that I have going on, he doesn't see that happening.

Like most of you here that have posted I don't believe that spirits are "lost". They stay here for one reason or another and I feel it is something that they decide.

Lost or misguided. staying for some reason to hold on to the life they once knew.

I don't think all spirits are stuck here. I think some choose to stay due to there connection to others or places. Then you have those that don't fit in to the preconceived heven / hell molds so where do they go.

Some wish to remain because they fear what may be on the other side. I'm sure someone who did evil in life would rather live forever as a spirit than to be trapped in Hell.

I think that some spirits are indeed lost - they have lost the plot and just dont know where they belong or should be heading. A fair deal of them however still have some purpose, like guiding the living whether it be in a good or evil manner. These do it either to get rest for their wandering souls if not enough was done while alive, or because they've been banished from some part of the afterlife.

i would imagine that many are lost but some may also be here for a purpose, such as keeping a watchful eye over someone or something like that.

I personally think that if anyone is allowed to stay on the earth for a period of time in "ghost" form, they are grounded to a certain area so that they cannot tamper with other's. However, the "wandering" spirts you speak of must follow a different set of rules. Perhaps the gods allow them to play out there deaths until they realise/are ready to move on.

So i would agree to a certain degree that all spirits are lost/confused.

I do not believe that spirits are lost. I believe that the spirits who return do so because they are chosen to watch over those of us who still walk this mortal life. They are here to guide and protect us. Perhaps it is an honor, or perhaps it is a curse. We will never know the true answer until we become spirits ourselves.

Nothing is ever lost; being lost is a perception discrepancy.

Spirits that are earth bound are not lost, they are here for a reason... whether tied to someone or, waiting for help in crossing over.. Or deemed to be here... each are valid, but lost, i think not....

Spirits can be lost, they are earthbound spirits who are here for a reason or who were trapped in a time loop and unleashed when something new and big has occurred. That is the only time they are lost

I believe there is no definitive answer to this question. One has to believe there are spirits in the first place and not some mental health issue of those who believe in them, lol.

I believe in a soul so yes, I believe in spirits. I think some might hang around, by choice and others not knowing they have died because it was quick and traumatic. This of course is only an opinion because nothing can be proven here. One can only state their opinion. There are numerous views on this topic. I hung out with spiritualists so I know theirs but I wouldn't say I believe everything. Of course, there will be those who say they know it all and have the answers and after all this time, over 60 years I still don't know what I think about anything in the area of the paranormal. I just have beliefs. I wouldn't say spirits exactly get lost so much as they may not realize what happened to them and others may miss their loved ones and stay close until ready to move on to other things.

I would add that I don't think a persons basic nature magically transforms on passing.

If x was stroppy and mean spirited in this life, then that's just how x will be on passing.

I believe help is always at hand in order for the individual to progress, but it's up to x to take up the offer.

Many books I have read....state that there are 3 areas after death.

The lower which is the dark....the gray area...where people are lost and these are the ones that will haunt, and of course the white light.

Howard Storm wrote a book on his descent into Hell.

How he was saved into the white light. Of course many many agrue that having a OBE death experience is one in their own mind.

As well as the older book....by Damien Brinkley, who descended into the white light.

Even tho Damien Brinkley's book was written in the 70's
he states the angels gave him 7 boxes of things that will come on this earth.
Today what he had written in the 70's is coming to light of the boxes he was given.

I'm a medium and have some experience dealing with the dead. I have never met a lost spirit. The reason a spirit hasn't passed over is due to unfinished business. I have helped them with their unfinished business. They don't always pass over right away. They like to hang around to check in with loved ones to be sure they are ok. All spirits pass over to the other side when they are ready. There is not such a thing as lost spirits.

Maybe some of them are stuck or afraid to move forward, so they cling to what they know best and keep to their familliar surroundings, which are known as hauntings

Well in my opinion few of them are due to dream astral during the sleep at unknown place and unknown time (present/ past/ future)

In my lucid dreams I too did find myself on different unknown places of different time in between peepal with different dressings...

Spirits have intentions, possible a purpose or journey...
Spirits, I believe can be trapped due to cause of death. I have known a couple close to me that were trapped unable to move on.

I think spirits can be lost for a time or indefinitely. Some are lucky and have help to move on.

To stay or wander in an area that you are familiar with is hardly lost. Maybe they stay because they fear being lost. Leaving the known to journey into the unknown frightens many whether they be people or spirits. The true loss is the adventure that never happened or the journey never taken.
