Life after death. What is your opinion on it?

I myself think that we all have a past life and we remember that life sometimes in dreams and or visions. I believe that what they are, they are our memories of our past life.. I do believe in life after death just because of that facts and my thoughts.

Reincarnation is percieved by me as the karmic trail of the soul on the road of a predestined journey. Though the traveling never ends, the physical body always does. Since it is only a conduit of the soul, it may take any shape it wishes in order to continue the journey.

Evolution may play a small roll in the reincarnation process if it were up to the soul in choosing which physical form it would take up next, if it needs to gain more knowledge then it may choose to become human, if it needs to learn family values, then it could change to an animal of some sort for the sake of that side of nature. If it needs to learn the nature of getting along with society then it could become an insect within a colony.

The soul as it travels through the journey learns so many differant things, when it is finally ready to settle down, this is where the ethereal plane and dimensional multi-verse comes into play. Quantum mechanics if you will. It is all part of the spiritual process that is called the Sacred Geometry of the Soul.

I believe there is life after death for many different reasons.

One being that there is documented proof from many different people in many different parts of the world over the centuries that there is life after death.

Another is that there are different planes and this life being one of them and death being the door to another plane.

Reincarnation is when someone comes back to this life as someone else or something else. I believe that is also possible.

I believe we come back back. We have past lifes of karma which we did not learn from. It is like a bank account you have good deposits of karma and debt of karma.

akasha records keeps our good and bad karma. Only one person stated before they died they actually seen their records and it was Edgar casey.

Life after death. Many humans forget to live, because they worry too much about life after death. Every person, that belongs to a religion group, have they own "theory" about what will happen after we die. Conclusion, death is a mystery, the only good is that we all will taste that mystery.

Actually ace I disagree with you there, as a Medium I know exactly what happens after the physical body dies. Your soul will go to the spirit world where you will review your life that you just led, you will then catch up with loved ones who died before you before planning what you are going to do next including reincarnation

Regarding the Akashic Records it is believed that through deep trance meditation that one can learn to look through their record and see how they are progressing on this world or indeed through past lives

Everyone holds their own beliefs on what may lie after we shut our mortal eyes. Reincarnation, heaven or hell, or just the spirit world that mirrors the life we once lived.

I hope there is more after this life is done, Call it fear of the unknown like many feel or a dream in which I picture naother life better than this life has been.

Regardless what some claim what comes after death is a mystery we can not know the answer to until it is to late to share the answer with the living. The best we can do is live life to the fullest and wait and see.

I want to believe in life after death, but i guess I won't know till I die. If there is life after death, I at least hope I go somewhere good:) And I'm not sure about my past life. Some part of me thinks I have had one, but then again, I am still not sure.

As a poet, I write about death and the mind, and one self dying on the inside, as for an after life, I am still on the fence on it, and I really have to meditate on this.

Anyone who claims to know what happens after death... is trying to sell you something.

None of us knows and none of us will... until we pass through that final curtain to either oblivion or to continued life on another plane. That being said, I personally feel that... as with other theoretical areas of science that attempt to understand and explain the as-yet unknown... there are evidences that perhaps provide clues to us regarding not only the possibility of continued existence after death but also what the purpose of that existence, as well as this one, might be.

First off... there are the many Near-Death Experiences (NDEs) reported. Now I'm NOT talking about people's claimed visions of Jesus, Allah, Buddha, heaven, hell, ... whatever ... while near death. All such are not reliable and may well be nothing more than one person's subjective feelings made manifest in an unconscious near-death "dream" state. This means nothing and is not valid evidence.

What I am specifically talking about are the many NDEs verified by unbiased doctors and other third-parties wherein a person's "spirit" has left the body, gone somewhere else and witnessed events or things, then returned to the body after being revived and reported what they saw or witnessed to others that were then verified by them as actually having happened.

To me... such non-subjective NDE experiences are strong evidence that, indeed, the body and the consciousness (spirit) are not the same and that upon death, the former "dies" while the latter... continues on.

This is only one relatively legit evidence for life after death. There are others such as the scientifically proven eternal nature of matter and energy (neither can be created or destroyed)... thus perhaps arguably also of life, as well.

Additionally, there is our very natures as Human Beings to generally seek to constantly better ourselves, to progress, to create... which primary drive serves no purpose, to my view, if life has no purpose to begin with beyond simply... living, reproducing, and going back to the supposed "oblivion" from whence we allegedly came. In fact, as evidenced throughout Human history, those who seek nothing but self gratification rather than true progression of the soul actually become less fulfilled, less happy and usually become rather sad and immature people as a result. If this life were all that there is to existence, one would expect that the more selfish one lives, the more happy we would be... yet the exact opposite holds true, instead. This only makes sense were the reality to be that we are preparing in this life for something far greater... and it is this that motivates us to follow higher, farther-reaching values.

Both of the former paragraphs could be easily expanded to fill chapters in a book on the subject, which I am no more inclined to write here than would those here probably be inclined to read... so I touch only extremely briefly on these two additional areas of evidence for continued life and purpose after death.... all of which are strongly in evidence simply by listening to our inner selves rather than our outward vanities and desires.

And learning to listen more to our deeper motivations and drives rather than our physical ones is also one of Life's greatest purposes and lessons... as well as key to any degree of lasting Happiness. And this undeniable fact is also yet another glaring evidence that life must last far longer and hold far greater promise and purpose than simply to live here in mortality for a few decades... and then end in oblivion.

One thing to consider: If we live as if there is no tomorrow, that there is no greater purpose to life than simply getting all we can get in the here and now in living as seflishly as we can with only self-gratification as our goal., then perhaps... just perhaps... this life will indeed be only for mortality and nothing more. For so we have willed it for ourselves and lived it with that end always in mind and with nothing to show for it to justify any further existence hereafter.

In other words, as a variation on an old saying: Whether you believe in Life after Death or not... you're right! ;)

I experienced many years ago, what is often referred to as a near death experience. I don’t discuss the circumstances as to how and why that happened as per it is a chapter of my life that has been closed and a new page written. In reading this thread a few ideals came to mind, reincarnation, afterlife, etc. I recall leaving my body when my heart decided it had no more to give and a higher sense of awareness coming over me. I traveled to a place I don’t wish to visit again, but I believe to a certain extent we have a choice in where we go when we die. Some may choose to be reincarnated in some form or another, and some may choose to move on to an alternate plain. I personally believe without doubt that the life in us does live on, hence there is no true death, only a new life began, a new cycle when this one ends, and we have more choice in where we will travel to next than we realize. Death is not to be feared, death is simply the process of being reborn, perhaps on this plain, or perhaps on another.

i think that aceXXXvicious has a good point in that since we dont really know what happens, we should enjoy the life we have now.
that said, it doesnt take away from faith. some of us combine the two...

the ones i feel sorry for are the ones that deny themselves everything in this life to just prepare for the next.
if they are mistaken, then life was just wasted for them.

In the words of Mrs. Scarlett From Clue...

Life after death is about as likely as sex after marriage.

Now for my thoughts on it. There has to be something. I can't accept that we just die and thats the end. its just too, short.

we will all one day find out the truth with wat happens after we die.

It like the real old days where ppl were brained washed into believing if they sin they wouldnt go to heaven. To the point were they would commit suicide rather then live in sin...which was funny as suicide was a sin.

Even today we are still being force feed what to believe and wat not to believe when it comes to life after death. We know for a fact that the ancient Egyptians and other ancient societies believed in life after death....yet white man came along and changed the way ppl think....by force a lot of times.

My belief is that there is no life after death. Once death takes over, it is the end of the line for you. However, I also believe that the life after death reflects the life that the person has when he/she was still alive. In that sense, there is no fixed life after death because each afterlife varies depending on the individual who dies.

I have no personal belief one way or the other about the existence of "life" after death except one certainity. The "life" after death will not be the present life I have. It will be different. The closest think to the present life it could possibly be [and I am not saying it is] you can see most every Wednesday on "Ghot Hunters" on the ScFi Cahnnel. There you will hear "voices" that seem to speak English most of the time. Also thermal images of what appear to be adult human forms or child forms and occassionally plaintiff cries to "help me" from child like voices.

Do we have a choice or options if some part of us survives after death? Did we have choices as to what family, country, world and point in time we arrived in this life? I thought not.

The point for me is, I will deal with the afterlife when and if it comes for me. I must deal with this life now and I choose to spend the bulk of my time on that. [unless of course I can rack up a few points by posting on a forum on the subject]

I strongly agree with u LordBaal. Im not a medium, but I do know that thru deep meditation one can view their own records, I have done so myself.. Past lives can be remembered and yet can also be recieved thru dream and or visions.

What alot of ppl dnt know is that u can also trigger or jump start memories of their past lives just by somthng as simple as a piece of clothing such as a costume, or by smell, language, speech even a movie can trigger these.. It may be easier for sum then for others, but if sumthng is missing frm some of those memories it may be for a gud reason or even perhapes a lesson unlearned yet..

Who were you in a previous life? This question is now so popular that many westerners accept that they must have lived before. Believing in the phenomenon of Reincarnation, it is almost a spiritual system in itself. But what is the reality to reincarnation? I don’t know. Maybe it is exactly what people believe. But it is also possible to place other mechanisms upon the subject, and even place it in a totally new paradigm.

Several researchers have studied reincarnation in minute detail. Principal among them is Dr Ian Stevenson, whose 1966 book ‘Twenty Cases Suggestive of Reincarnation’ is a classic. Researching some fascinating cases, he noted that often, any addiction such as alcoholism in a past life could reflect itself in the present. In some two hundred cases he noted birthmarks in the same place as wounds in previous lives. Such evidence led Stevenson to conclude that human personality may go … much further back in time than conception and birth.

We can argue that an ‘individual’ is a basically false concept, and people through all time have reflected the influences you have in your life today. The attractiveness of the idea is that you are, therefore, not that much different from a person from the past, so in effect, just a small change in your psychology could, metaphorically speaking, turn you into that person from the past. If this is so, all that is needed is a tiny snippet of information, had through cryptomnesia, to turn even a child into an ‘entity’ from another time – in a psychological sense, at least. So okay, this isn’t reincarnation as popularly believed, but if the amalgam of influences is correct, then it can be seen as a universal soul within everyone. And a vehicle through which ‘characterisations’ from the past can find expression in the present.

Well I think I may have died but did not go somewhere new.
What was it like? not that bad really, just got very ill fever etc after drinking blood with some Vamps and got flu like symptoms.Started shaking and got weaker and weaker, needed water but didn,t have the strength to get it.

Last thing I remember the world went upside down and I knew nothing more but strange dreams about a Vampire girl hanging off the ceiling. Then just blank...

I just ended up waking up 2-3 days later feeling like death warmed up.

The thought of normal reincarnation and having to do it all again is somewhat depressing but who knows. I thought vampires, witches etc. were all a load of rubbish but now I know different. Hope this helps.Tfs.

Aizen you have the right idea but I have to disagree with you in one way.

It has been proven that using a ouija board can open the portal to demonic things. It can be used in asking a spirit if there is an afterlife but more often than not it opens up the portal for demonic possessions and demonic hauntings.

I think you enter a different realm. Many religions depict a heaven and a hell often called by different names. I'm a christian and everyone knows what we believe. I don't know, but no one truly knows what is beyond are eyes. Except for the paranormal activity of ghost. Maybe we stay here just here just in a different realm that we can't see that we can't react to, but is right in front of us.

oijha boards, mediums, it is all parlor games adopted to bilk people desperate to peek at the " after life". Learn to grieve people.

Is life do dire, that all you have hope for is dying.. what if " If" hypothetically this is the " After life " seems to be apparent you all is a wasting it..

investing in anything like spiritualism ( when it is demonstarated hoakum consistently) is to place yourself in the gullible ranks

The thing that peevees me is the insinuation that everybody has to reveir the ideals if others, to " keep an open mind" yet the same people blot over the concept that death is lights out.. no current.. no life..

as if people that don't subscribe to an after life ideal are anomalies, that need to consider subscribing.. but not just any of the 100, 000 options, but the very one they subscribe to..
I find that it is less then concern for the person, but more validation.. at the expense of others.

so are you trying to change peoples minds? do you seek to have others think as you think? i feel the purpose of the forums is to speak of your ideas and thoughts...not to berate those you disagree with. if you disagree with someone...then say what you feel...or say nothing.

ive seen this on thread after thread...someone disagrees then feels the need to explain why anyone that doesnt feel the same is an idiot or worse.

now...that said, certainly believe that there is more after we die. what it is, i have my thoughts on...but they are unprovable. i also suspect that we might find what we expect to find.
no way really to know. ive not had anyone from the otherside tell me.

does anyone here think that the dead might communicate by means of evp (electronic voice phenomenon)?

just my thoughts

Not particularly, I just want people to accept that their are people who are content without ascribing supernatural to everything.

I have had my moment at the threshold, and visioned my Finale, I do not imposs that on anyone.

I don't like seeing people invest in shady ideals.. Just because those ideas are popular. The hype really wears on people that have achieved personal
assurance.

No one spectulation is more than anyother, and those who are set to impress on others that some physical confirmation can be had.. is nothing but a sales person..it is all spectulation..to lord " experiences" over others is pious.

in summery I just would like to see people place their ideals in context,
The whole " I am more untuned with the " Unknow" then you" is just getting old..

Be here now.. everyone living like there is something better, defaults some to waste resources, and basically slump through life.. often with reckless abandon.

After volunteering a a spiritualist center, I learned that
Most who want to be considered open minded, have their eyes closed, and are exploited by those who know too well that people want false " voices from beyond" because they failed to communicate while the deceased was alive..

Fallingstar -

"Well I think I may have died but did not go somewhere new... got very ill fever etc after drinking blood with some Vamps and got flu like symptoms... started shaking and got weaker and weaker... "

Hopefully from this you learned a key lesson as well as a fact of Nature: drinking blood is not healthy and can, in fact, be quite poisonous as our digestive systems were never meant for this.

And, on an oft-repeated sidenote, the "vampires" of history never drank blood... only in fiction did they do so. Thus, emulating fictional creatures is not... perhaps... very wise. Just puttin' it out there for consideration. ;)

Fine Blood, I can relate to that. Yet to some your brief statement is offensive, I just never understood how vicious After life idealist get toward those that except Oblivion.. or the Abyss.

I am not saying that people do not benifit while dying from faith, just that
there is a strong case to support the theory that each person runs their own " soft ware" while the body expires.

fineblood - As this is your first post to the forums (how do you get to Level "73" without ever having participated in the forums?!), you apparently feel very strongly about this. As you offer no reasoning why you feel so strongly, it would be nice were you to provide a few.

After all, as we already know from science and quantum physics that the very components of everything in this Universe (namely... all matter and energy) are eternal, neither able to be created nor destroyed, why is it you believe that Life (arguably the most singularly elaborate combination of eternal matter and energy) is entirely the opposite of everything else in the Universe?

One thing I have noticed in those who believe as strongly as you in nothing after death is that most tend to espouse such a belief to justify living lives devoted to pleasures and selfishness... in living their lives as though there were no tomorrow, frankly. After all, if there is nothing after death, then one is entirely justified in seeking nothing but the many temporary pleasures of life... no matter how ultimately selfish and/or destructive such might be.

Of course, as I saw happen in the lives of all those who so believed that I grew up with, they cultivated little else but selfishness and self-gratification given that, as they so often told me, if there is nothing after life what's the point in living? Might as well do what "feels good" now, right? Mmmm... Darwinism taken to its logical and ultimate conclusion, after all! Of course, this inexorably has ended up biting them in the butt continually... more and more painfully the more they lived this way... until most of them began to realize that Life's lessons point toward something far beyond just living for gratification and selfishness, far beyond just today... and thus, perhaps, far beyond this mortal existence, as well. For those who eventually came to this realization, their attitudes and actions changed toward more far-reaching values and pursuits... and their lives were rewarded as a result. And they finally began to discover lasting fulfillment and happiness.

For those who still haven't made this foundational discovery, their lives have spiralled inexorably down a far darker path that has led them to greater and greater degrees of depression, despair, hopelessness and pain. Two of my "oblivion-after-death"-believing high-school friends committed suicide in middle age.

Just a thought to consider from one who has seen both sides.

Upir

I have a humanitarian philosopy personally, that this life is to be cherished.

Matter, and energy is indeed all we are, and that energy goes.. merges back into the quantium.. though to egotistical assume that the mind ( concious) of this life carries over intact is a stretch.

I believe the "why bother" philosophy is Fatalism.Nihlism never appealed to me, Absurdism perhaps.. But not nihlism..

I have seen atheist, and theist alike resign in such a matter.

While dying I perceived what is fitting to me, I envisioned a scape with no horizon, and flashes of light flashing overhead.. into a cable of magnificent light trafficing through ( as if fiber optics threads guided them.

There was a few other details to the scape, but that was just my personal Dream Finale.

I interpreted my vision to mean, to depart sucessfully, I need to lighten up, and not attatch myself to every oppurtity of leisure
to invest what light I posses to illuminate worthy causes..

I do accept that when this brain looses current, their will be no more Id of " me". However those who hold memory of me will continue to.. the light I shed, or the failed to shine plays a role in that. Those who shared their light with me, will add to my departing illuminess..

Life I cherish. I simply opt not to gaze upon the radience from the masses, I opt to turn around, and observe, and understand that which light is shone on.. rather then spectulate upon, and gaze into the source.

After reviewing my prior entry here, I realized that such might be taken not as intended.

While belief is belief and requires no explanation or reasoning, yet I would imagine those who believe in nothing after death are not particularly religious and, thus, would have some reason why they believe as they do. And yet in this forum almost all, if not all, who believe that there is no existence after death provide nothing in support or as explanation for such except to simply state that belief.

As "fineblood" is only the most recent example of such, I thought I'd ask what his/her reasons actually are... especially in light of just a couple of my own that have me concluding the opposite view.

personally I excepted your post, as well as lord wolfs, as a valid entry encouraging engaging reasoning.

I welcome such opportunity actually.

How often even nontheist adopt slogans to repeat, with nothing as a foundation to present.. a distinct difference between cynism, and skepticism.

I believe in the fact that life carries on after death. Our body dies but we regenerate into a new life form whether that be human or whatever.

Yes I beleive in the afterlife. I believe that they is a life after death. Those who have a past life and has been reborn again and again could possibly say that they constintly life a life after death. Most call them a old soul. But could that not be considered as a life after death cause in that past life you died and yet was born again

Life after Death gives us hope and something to hold unto.
Without it, life would become very dull and mostly depressing.

To me there must be something more spectacular beyond this Earthly Realm, for how is it/was it possible that only our Planet holds Life and not the others.

personally i dont think there are any absolutes.
there are probably some that will die, and just be gone.
some will do more. i do believe in reincarnation, but there may be more even than that. there may be a heaven and hell, a vallhalla, elysian feilds, etc.
some think it depends on your beliefs, some think it has to do with your blood lines (if you are of nordic stock, the norse gods have first claim to you, etc).

no real way to know (unless your a medium. im a medium too but i cant claim to know any more....i used to be a large, but i lost weight).

just my thoughts
