Okay, so we all know that there are different types of Vampires, but do you think there is a dominant type? Like are there more Bloos suckers than Psychic Vampires? Tell me what you think.
~Master Damien~
I believe this could be true. Just like there is dominance everywhere else.
All vampirism is psychic vampirism. It does no good for someone to drink blood if they haven't an idea as to how to use it.
However, blood drinking is becoming taboo among the larger and more organized groups of vamps rather quickly.

Yeah, that is true. But there must be some out there that know how to work the Blood. As in True Vampires.
~Master Damien~
I personally feel psychic vampirism is far better than sang-- sang is becoming, as it's been said, FAR too dangerous, specially for those that are too young/unlearned about the dangers therein-- or just don't care.
Indeed there are. I'm just saying that while blood drinking still works..it dosen't work for PR, which is the main concern of these orgs.
They defend this position, correctly, with the idea that it is unecessary to do so since they are essentially feeding on the same stuff anyway. Both sides of the camp both say theirs is a 'purer' method..but this is pretty relative. They also feel that it amounts to about the as cannabalism, so again, public relations. :) It's all about choice I think.
- D
Thats true. If we had Vampires drinking Blood at all times, then Humans would be, well, gone.
~Master Damien~
I suppose that's a valid point as any-- perhaps sang is more for the 'ritual' of feeding while psy is out of necessity?
I agree..there is a profound representational aspect to blood is respect to mortality and vitality. Drinking it is more of a time honored ritual if you will..so yes, it's a little like a play in some ways.
- D
There's the sensuality issue that plays out in (nearly) every vampiric movie when it comes to blood.
For me its a sexual, and very bonding spiritual gift-- not to be taken lightly in any reguard. However, for those just entering the 'Darkness' as it were, and those interested in it-- that's sadly all they see, the movie magic of it, and nothing more.
Sadly my current Mate isn't into that sort of thing.
Not into much of anythig along the lines of what I'm interested in-- and as of rather recent, have become more and moreso.
Ah well, such is life, yes?
to be truthful i do not think any type of vampire is more dominant than the other. all vampires /vampyres are equal though there are several different types.
there are psi, sang, sexual, elemental and a few others. we are all equal just different in some ways.
i think that every type of vamp has some sort of dominance or we would all be the same we are different because there is some thing in us that is more dominant that makes us who we are
I don't think either way could be called better than the other, but there are obviously more psi vamps in this world, because it is possible to subconsciously feed off of emotions, whereas it takes a precise decision to drink blood.
Erebus, I never said that psy vamps are better..I merely stipulated that all vampires are essentially the same.
- D
Whether it's becomming "taboo" or not in those "organisations", I really don't care. I feel that we should be who we really are. Besides, if your really that worried, then I'd say that you are probably more of a psi then a sang.
As for who is dominant? I would have to say the one with the greater amount of power, abilities and "tricks up thier sleeve".
i am a blood drinker, i do injoy the ritual of the act but, i do it out of nesisty. not that oftin tho, when the time comes it is a big deal tho, big ritual an all
It's all about Energy, Will, Intent, Knowledge, and the Mastery of all of them and their uses in every realm...That determines Dominace...
I didn't mean to imply there was anything wrong with blood drinking..I've been doing it for over a decade. But I feel it is only necessary if your mind says so...the human body as a whole does not crave the blood of others..your brain does.
- D
I agree, blood is a option for those who feel the need...
It is becoming that Psychic-Feeding Vampirism is indeed becoming a more prominent phenomena than the Sanguinarian method of feeding on prana or lifeforce energy. To say that Sanguinarians consist of TRUE vampires as opposed to Psy-vampires is totally absurd. It is already common knowledge that it is lifeforce energy that we all feed on.....the method of obtaining that energy is irrelevant. As some have stated, because of the increase risk of blood-borne diseases, psy-feeding is the more logical form of feeding on energy. As all life, vampires need to adapt to the world around them. To say that "real" vampirism means drinking physical blood and by that making you feel like you are the genuine article, then you do so mainly for the nostalgia effect. Whether you feed through psy, sang, tantric, elemental, or ambient methods......we all need to adapt. Those who can make the transitions will be the so-called dominant ones. It's the order of all life.
The initial question posed in this thread is related to the number of sanguinarians vs psy-feeders, not the question of superiority between them.

Quote: "but do you think there is a dominant type?" ~MasterDamien~
I would include that vampires that employ feeding through pranic/psy methods, more than likely, outnumber those who feed primarily through physical blood drinking (sangunarians).
Thank you domangelus..I missed that one. And yes, I would agree that especially with New Age though running amuck, that psy feeders are very likely to outnumber sanguinarians.

Taking in the whole society, fetishists included, I would still assume that blood drinking is the prevalent method amongst those who are aware of what they are doing, but as to how many could be feeding from energies psionically and perhaps unaware of it, it is an impossible number to hazard a guess at.
I think basically, all vampires are equal as, as some stated before, they all feed off energy. I don't think the 'how' does matter in dominance. I guess both sangs and psys can master their 'powers' so well, so there would be dominant and less dominant ones on all sides.
Always in nature there are dominate species. I don't think but I don't know if either is dominate over the other. Perhaps in different powers one is dominate over the other...but I can't really be sure. Sorry.
There always has been dominant, there is no doubt about that, and its kind a erousing to know it
I can see the perspective..but vampires don't count as a separate species. There's about as much equality amongst vampires as with any other group.
The truth as I see it, is that to be dominant in this particular subculture..all you need to do is be well published. People respect knowledge in these parts much less than they respect good advertising. The guy who pops up on google the most is usually the winner.

It's hard for me to say. I haven't studied enough to know much of anything. As ignorant as I am, perhaps ignorant to the grave, I will make the hypothesis that the True Vampires or Dominant ones are going to be those who are the oldest. Those with the most experience. Those with the most control over their abilities who are closer the root of the True Origin. Those are just my thoughts, though. I wouldn't rely on my answer.
I think there is more of a mixture of the two.... That is there are more vamps that are both... I used to think that I was purely sang (blood drinker) but after chatting with some very knowlegable ones on VR, I realized that the whole process of drinking involves a lot more mental transfer than I thought.... A lot of vamps that think they are strictly sang need to really examine what's going on next time they feed. I'm sure that many will realize that they're both... sang and psi...
it would be hard to say what the dominant type of vampire is. there could be several stories, even news paper articles, that a vampire that feeds on the blood of it's victims exists, or is currently on the rampage, with it's tracks covered by those who are saguine, but it will never how many psycic vampires exist or if they are even currently on the rise.
i think the dominant vampires are the purebloods. they were not created they were born that way and therefore they are more dominant in my own opinion
There's a chance they could be evenly balanced...at times, one could be a bloodsucker, other times, a psy vampire...just without realizing it...
I think it's all relative. Depending on who's deciding who's dominant. Generally speaking, if you ask a sang, they'd be more likely to say sangs. Likewise, if you ask a psy, they'd be more likely to say psys. That is if you feel this can be generalized, which I really don't. The bottom line is that everybody wants to be the dominant species, subculture, or whatever you wish to call it. Nobody wants to be second string.
I personally think that we all have many facets. While we all have our strengths, we have weaknesses too. Who can say for sure what strengths outweigh what weaknesses? Nobody, because nobody really knows.
I agree with the side of at times being more sang than psi and vice versa, depending on the time, place, etc.
As far as a dominance, the more well-known, more published vampire certainly makes sense to me-- it is not so much the 'enchanting of an entire audience,' but the fact that so many others know of their existance-- rather they embrace or abhor(sp?) it/them.
What im wondering is should not blood drinking be considered more dominate because it is the oldest and more traditional of the two.
Blood drinking has always been around for man..but for vampires..thats another story. If a vampire could indeed continue to exist after death it would have to feed on energy..corpses just aren't too good at walking around to get blood. The very human indulgence in blood drinking is caused by preconcieved associations and expressions..so, as for a more honored tradition..you'll have to ask who it's more honorable to. A mythical vampire..or a human being.
- D
no because its possible for a blood drinking vampyre to live off psychic enegry when blood isnt available
Still enjoying the posts here, good food for thought...... not sure if I agree that a sang would be a more dominant vampyre than a psi...all depends on the situation and people involved.
im enjoying the forums here.. i have to say that there r alot of blooddrinking vampires. But the psycic versions are stepping up and seem to be more powerful cause there r alot of people who drink just cause they think its the kewl thing to do and i dont think thats right so i say the psycic vamps are dominant cause the ones who are know wjhat they r doing
wow that was a good read i think that neither is dominent we each have our own strenghts but as it being one or the other its neither
I do agree with kansas.
Both are needed and none is dominant.
Dominant is
To control, govern, or rule by superior authority or power, To enjoy a commanding, controlling position in
To be situated in or occupy a position that is more elevated or decidedly superior to others.
I don't believe that any kind of vampire is more powerful. Each has their powers and weaknesses.
the older the vampire, the more power, so their is no telling for sure
i think there is other types but me personally i know several blood drinking vampires to include myself
Personally I don't think age is really an issue-- it's more of an experience and more concetrated vision of things.
Age is really not that importantin most cases I believe that its all about what you learn out of the experience and also how you carry yourself.~NFA
its a chemistry thing as opposed to a magic number issue.
Yes, I believe that. I think they just dont want to admit it though, or admire it. Maybe if they were to think about it, there would be a huge blood gushing flight thing.
I believe the the physic vampires are more dominate b/c they seem to have more knowledge and interest in learning how to do it right.
With psychic vampires, they take the pranic energy directly from the source, while a sang vampire drinks blood (which contains the pranic energy) as the bible says "The blood is the life".
As to which is more dominant, I believe they are about equal, but psychic vampirism is more prevalent because of health reasons.
I also must agree with Chord on this one. There is no dominance in vampirism. I also believe that blood drinking is a rather nasty taboo amongst many vampire covens.
Blood is a liquid life giving substance which can only be tapped by the time honored practice of seduction and the very sensous act of the bite and the lapping of life.
where psychic vampirism is siphoning off energies from the hustle and bustle of the world. every thought, synapse of brain-to-muscle activity and psychic thread rides the energy of life. vampires simply partake of whats already around them like a swarm of bees. perhaps also why vampires are most often found in cities.
