i'm one of those people who always think that ghosts and such are a result of an over active mind. well, not always, but a good portion of the time.

the mind is a very powerful tool, it makes us what we are. there are many diseases and conditions that are caused soley by the mind. women can think they are pregnant to the point that their belly swells, their menstural peirod stops, and they leak from thier breasts. the cause, the mind.

vampires have always been around in myths and in words. they have always been feared, almost as if they were instinctually our predators. a rabbit doesn't have to know what a hawk is called to run from it's shadow.

along with this fear there has always been people who long for the powers that would come with this lifestyle. the vampire in the true sense of the word.

my question... is it possible that the vampire condition is merely a result of the mind wishing for something so badly that it changes the genetic structure of the body until vampirism is not only real, but able to be passed on in one sense or another? i think this theroy is possible for the reasons i mentioned in the begining, but what about you. does anyone see anything that would shoot a hole in this theory?

There is a mental disorder, that makes people think that they are things that they arent. if that makes any sense, But I think that being a vampire is a state of being rather than a state of mind. Yes, people can convince themselves that they are sick, and therefore no one can convince them otherwise. But i dont think that this is so with vampires. but i could be wrong. if i am please correct me

Well Satanist belive that psi-vampires are regular humans that have deep emotional problems. Not that i believe them.

Considering it took nature millions of years to get us to the genetic level we are now, I don't think the mind can do it in a fraction of the time. No matter how badly it's desired. All it can do is trick one self into believing you've been altered on a genetic level.

I don't know if I'd go as far as to say that my genetic coding would change due to what I am from within... I for one see myself as a form of hybrid of different myths... Never-the-less, I know that my exterior from does not change.. But depending on what characterist kick come into play I can feel myself change inside..

Now I don't have and overly active imagination and very few people do. On top of that in order to actually cause some sort of morph to your own body you need be very well concentrated or us a lot more brain power that the mundane mortal would..

You see that is what seperates us from them, we know deep down inside that we are something else. Not easily believe nor accepted. Yet we will not conform to others beliefs on our existence...

I mean who's to tell me what I am within?? Sorry I think I blew it our of poportion...

I am sure there are those who have created a false sense of this type being...That does not change the reality of what is True with others...

I don't believe we are altared in our body, I do believe and see the changes in me mentally, emotionally and such. My life is way different from the way it was before. I am mortal and I can die. I am sensitive to light in my eyes, I have to wear my shades, I don't wear black for any other reason than I want to and like it. I am not illuding myself to anything.

As interesting as that thought is, I must say that for the most part that it is not true. I do agree that there some people who do believe it so much that they try to become it, but those people usually have other disorders that cause them to think that way. Normal vampirism is what a person is, regardless of their mental set.

I have watched documentaries on tv about the powers of the mind. Hypnotists putting someone under and with the suggestion that this person had a blister the skin would blister up. There are the so called firestarters that can burn things with their mind, and people with telekenesis that can levetate things through the air with their mind. If anything could change people in a short time it would have to be their own mind. As far as changing them into a hollywood style vampire, that is just unrealistic.

I have a couple of books on this subject. Quite interesting to say the least. Of what our minds may or may not be conditioned to do.

Or is it because, we through history and stories have just precieved this in our minds to think we can or cannot do these things?

It depends on the person.

Some of them are vampires cause of their phisycal condition,others just belive they are vampires when in reality they're not.

Usually the fake ones are very recognisebile.

Well. as its been told that mind can move mountains. shure. might be.. but i am more on the DNA and evolution side..

i have to disagree with the evolution idea... evolution is about gaining new strengths, not new weaknesses.



i guess the general public seems to be saying that the idea of vampirism being in the mind is possible, but unlikely?

I think that mind have its influence when creating a ghost specialy when they have something to do in life and now they are dead they can have "peace"... but I believe more because they had a bad experience when killed in many ocations... like rape victims... kidnapping.... intrafamiliar violence... and all that stuff.... and they refuge in the places they died because the place remember the suffering they pass through when dyeing.................. I think vampires are a mind state too in which you may steal energy from others as some act of vampirism................... but well..... I don't think a mind usually have the power enought to create a material thing...... nor imposible...

i think that the mind has influence on everything and is a tool not to be underestimated. i think we only use like 10% of our brain, well what is the other 90% for?

in my experiences i have made my self sick with worry and have cause many other visible physical problems. so i deffinately think that what ever we believe and think hard enough about can be a very real possiblity

I believe the other 90% of our minds is for transformation into whatever we desire- the quest is to learn how to unlock one's potential...... then you on some level even call yourself God, for you have unlocked the hidden potential of your mind and spirit.

The mind is the most malleable substance imaginable- it takes a skilled sculptor to shape it into whatever the individual wishes it to be. The body merely follows suit with whatever changes occur in the mind.

Rayden-- Your statement I fear is a false one in my eyes. Many Satanists I've come to learn of-- the true Satanists at least-- are also psychic vampires.

It's the ability to go back mentally and recall people, places, and things the current body has yet to experience. It's the feeding of energy moreso than that of physical nourishment to gain energy-- though I certainly ate my share of caesar salad the other day. :)

emotionally stress can cause an excessive amount of eletrical energy to run through a person. sometimes this makes a person sick with worry, sometimes it makes them stronger and faster, adreniline rush...


being disturbed and hiding it from the other people in your life means that all this extra energy is bouncing around inside your head.

The mind is a very powerful thing. If you imagine something and you want it so badly and you keep thinking of it or you believe you are it in the case of vamprism then wouldn't you just want to be happy with what you are instead of people telling you that your wrong or it's just something of the mind? I know what I believe in this matter but it's not up to me because I do not practice vamprism. BUt the mind is an extremly strong thing and people tend to waste it.

i dont beleive vampires are a condition of the mind....there are many things unexplained by man and darkness we have not searched. whats to say that the things we fear in the dark are'nt real?
we fear the dark for what may lie there,

Sure, everybody can do what they want if they put their minds to it. I believe that most people can do things in life because they are simply allowed to do it, they are favored enough to do so. What favores those people, I don't know. If you like the taste of blood, you don't have to be a vampire to do.

Do I think there are people capable of deluding themselves into thinking they are vampiric? Certainly.... they can convince themselves of plenty else!!

However, I do not believe, nor could I, that one such mental condition should necessitate the non existence of mine own.... I didnt choose my diet.... my body chose it for me.... it's that simple.
