Ok, so vampires bite humans to feed on their blood. That's a given. A vampire basic, but depending on who you talk to, what happens after that bite varies. Basically result of a vampire bite is the victim becoming a vampire themselves, right?
But that's BS on two basic levels. Vampires have to feed which would make more vampires who also need to feed and so on an so on and so on... 1 makes 2, 2 makes 4, 4 makes 8. You get the idea.
So seeing as how the world isn't over run with the creatures of the night, the whole procedure to becoming a vampire has to be a little more complicated than that. There needs to be an off switch, see what I'm saying?
I've heard of alot of different approaches to controlling the "turn rate" but who better to ask than you guys, huh?
The Hollywood myth is that it takes 3 bites from the same vampire to turn a person.
I have also heard of some vampires killing their victims after one bite in fictional books.
I woud like to hear more historical or informative perspectives on your question though.
Interesting topic.
well dude hmmm... there really is no answer for that there is a difference with vampires they are a legend a myth, the people here are not vampires but they are vampyre which means they like to feed of blood and some rely on it, but it does not mean they turn other people once they bitem...
Well, out of literature, I've learned that the sharing of blood turns one into a vampire. The vampire will bite the person then share his/her blood and that person turns.
But I don't know how it really is. It could be different because there seems to be different types of vampires and different methods and "rules".
So yeah, I'm not entirely sure, but that's one way I've heard.
i BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN NOT BE TURNED UNLESS YOU ARE ONE ALREADY AND THEN YOU WILL GO THROUGH AN AWAKENING.....
Well yeah, I know that much. This is like getting the details of a story strait or a hypothetical, ya know? I'm kinda innocent when it comes to the real world stuff. Not sure I really want to look into it that much but hey, to each his own.
Historically, sometimes you didn't even have to be bitten to become a vampire. In many myths you became one, after death, because if bad deeds durring you life. Being a vampire was your punishment.
Everyone will pretty much have a different answer tot his question. The reason for this, I believe, is because different vampire clans probably have different methods. It's a possibility that there are more than 1 ways to turn.
But he's asking about literature and historical myth. I like the "off switch" of:
Feed = bite and drink
Turn = bite, drain, then give vampire blood to the victim
If that were the stop-gap, your math would work.
DISCLAIMER: See above words, "fiction" and "myth"
There are a lot of myths about vampires. many novels have been written and much of what most people think comes from FICTION.
A minor percentage of the subculture drink blood. They are drawn to it. The debate still rages whether it is a fetish for them or a need. If it was a need many would already be dead. I cannot say it is a fetish either. Some are just drawn to it because it is believed Prana is more concentrated in blood. It is NOT about the blood in the real world. It is all about energy. That is only in mythology, novels and movies that vampires must drink blood, ect. The majority of vampyrics feed from many sources including ordinary food. All I can give is anecdotal information but I do know if deprived of energy many get illnesses that affect organs of the body and systems. There is a sort of breakdown but we have no medical studies to back that up yet...only a few surveys have been done that people speak of. One should be released soon but it won't be scientific findings, just viewpoints and personal experiences.
Biting is a no-no and frowned upon. You can cause someone to have a serious infection not to mention the permenant scarring. You cannot turn or make anyone a vampyre. One is born that way. Some go through awakenings and some don't, they just notice a difference early on but don't have a name for it until later in life.
One will not turn unless both parties have drank of each others blood. Until that happens, the victim won't turn. Which is why you hear of vampire "donors" and why the donors themselves don't turn into vampires.
The vampire takes blood from someone, then that person takes blood from the vampire. The blood they take from the vampire is in fact their own, mixed with the vampiric blood, which will get stronger in them over time. That's how it's done. :)
I think that you have to feed your victim your blood after biting them to start the turning. Then they need to feed on a human of their own. Well that is just my thoughts anyway.
drain=death
exchange of blood=turn
drink alot but not enough to drain=slow death
stop the driking just before the last drop and then eschange of blood=turn
This is of course the fiction way.
Well, I'm guessing that you are discussing the mythical vampires yes?
In that case, most believe that the vampire must suck the life force out of the victim until they are to the point of almost death, then the vampire must replenish their victim with the vampire's own blood in order to create a fledgling. If the vampire does not do this, then they are just feeding.
I've heard of the myth of just a vampire biting someone and they become a vampire, but it doesn't really make much sense.
Lilith was turned into a vampire a punishment by God for disobedience to adam and sleeping with demons, and some say animals, of course this is a hebrew myth meant to keep women in line. Lilith may have been the first vampire but how she became one varies.
The only way I know of is through a fictional book that tells that, once a vampire drinks the blood of a human, to turn them, they give their blood to the victum, thus creating another.
As I don't believe human hæmavours exist in the sense that Hollywood tries to dictate, I would say the details you seek to know are as varied as the sum of Hollywood minds can come up with. :)
I've heard of many different ways, including the familiar single-bite-turn, to the famous dracula-three-bite-turn, to the vamp-bite-victim-return-bite concept, to even the oriental version where the vampire draws blood into it like outer-space pulls air out from a spaceship's ruptured hull. There are even people who claim vampires cannot be created, unless certain conditions are present... like a cat or a full moon or a curse or what have you.
Still the mythology of the vampire is why I am here. I always love to learn new things, to replace errors in my education.
Vampires are very selective on who they turn, they will bite a human to feed but the human doesnt turn just like that, they'll feel drained & tired for at least 1-2 days but thats about it! For a vampire to turn you, you must have a special quality about you, what this quality is depends on the vampires fancy!
I don't believe a vampire can "turn" anyone outside of the books and big screen version that is purely fictional. I do think the way Mystica explained the awakening.
Right... Well I did ask for it didn't I?
And yeah, I'm talking about vampirism as far as fiction is concerned, but the REAL stuff, people who'll actually "tap" someone and as a life style... Jeez...
Bare in mind I don't have anything against any of you who maybe into it. I don't even know much when it comes to that, but thus far I don't personaly think it'd be something I'd be involved in.
And I have heard of Lilith before. A wiccan girl I met once was crazy about her.
Great point Andaluz.
No, I do not believe "vampires" drinking blod and "turning" people is a given.
I believe philosophical awakening apropos to your relationship with the world, energy, and other humans is a complex relationship based on understanding, trust and patience. I do not believe that Hollywood is trying to share with us some secret truth.
I have consmed blood/myblood has been consumed/ i've consumed energy/emotion/ and been completely in that moment- but being in the moment is what makes life- human life- something to be cherished, fulfilled, and exciting. I do NOt turn anyone. I am also a vegetarian, and believe in the concept of consent between humans as part of our evolution.
So no, I do not think your ideas are "given" facts.
a comon belief in many cultures is that one must-
a) be willing to become a vamp
b) drink the blood of the vampire after theyv been bitten.
dont know if that helps
xoxo
For myself I'm not sure which way I turned- for having been bitten as an introduction, and then played part in my first taste of blood. Most likely it was both, probably would have lost control if i hadn't been taught- ending up in a mental institution. Yet I always had the cravings, making me wonder if it is genetic or the wishes of an inbalanced mind. But trust me, it's not every day an eight year old is obsessed with vampires.
I hadn't thought of it for years before a vampire found me..
I've never looked back
The ways of turning are as varied as the intellects that create the vampire mythos. I have read of being turned by a female vamp from Ireland. She had blood in her breasts instead of milk, and drinking from her would turn the willing participant into a vampire.
My thoughts would be varied. It all depends on where you get your information from, whether from books, websites... or... hollywood. There are several opinions out there, but they are just that, opinions.
i always thought you had to die first then you become...
well when a vampire bites it deppens on how much blood that they take if they take a little they turn into a vampire but if the med size they will suffer if they take a large amout they will die
