Okay, personally I believe that your characteristics and some aspects of your future can be read through the lines on your palm. This practice of palm-reading is called palmistry, as you all probably know already.
Now to get to the point. I have heard that the lines on your palm can actually change over time to match your changing personalities and futures. When I heard this and after my own palm was read, I began to wonder . . . could your future as seen written on your palms change due to the power of suggestion?
Let me try to explain. First of all, one hand shows what was pre-planned for the individual (destiny) and the other shows how things will actually go (due to personal choices in reality). Say that on a person's "reality" hand it says they will have one female child. But then that person gets married to one who wants to have three male children. Because of the power of suggestion, could their "reality" hand change to say they will have three male children?
I presented this question as clearly as I could and I hope it is not too confusing. I look forward to your responses.

I really think it is real and not a mind trip.
My X husband was told he would have 3 childern and 2 of them would be a set of twins.Now I ask you how could this sitting in the back of his mind could he make twins happen?And the fact that the lady telling him this did not know he had all ready adopted my older son.Wich makes 3 and allso when he had his palm read I was all ready prego w/twins and I didn't even know it.So parhaps that was all a fluke?Or palm reading is real.

I think the power of suggestion plays a part in alot of the choices we make.. I am not clear on if our palms would do the same ..

it may change to yourself(in your mind) but in all reality it can't change i would not think just by a sugestion i think the only way that your palms change are by time,experience and an individuals way of life.

well i do believe in palmistry as some one predicted something for my future looking at my palms and it came true. but whether it changes or not i donno maybe thats possible by the change of the situation or rather what they call change in stars position.

I belive in palmistry, but i think that palmistry can only give you an outline of what could happen in your future, i mean you can change your future anytime you want...

i think that the lines on your palm are only part of the bigger picture. sure there are things that can be read on your hand, but as you go through life and make decision those predictions may be changed due to the path you take in life. so yes i guess that they could change, nothing is written in stone, or skin as it were.

I feel that suggestion would play a bigger factor in determining your future than a reading. You may be told in one reading that you are going to have male twins and in another after thinking that you would like a daughter instead a second reading might reflect that. Suggestion, I feel, plays a big part.

Over the past 10 years I have been keeping an eye on my palms. The lines on my hands have shifted due to the things I have chosen in life. I remember as a child I had a "A" on my left palm. then as an adult it shifted to an "M" Now on my right palm, I only had one life line, now that I have discovered a lost soul within me, I now have a second life line forming. So the power of suggestion altering the lines on your palm is bogus. What changes the lines on your hand are the choces and things that happen in your life.

I don't see why not. It makes perfect sense to me. If the lines would change according to one's personality, why not their future?

It is possible for the line contours on your palm to change over time. I'm not too sure if I believe they change due to choices you make in life however.

I've had a couple of palm readings in my life and so far they have both been bogus.

I believe in the power of suggestion.

But the Palmistry, I'm not so sure on.

i think it is possible to get a good reading as long as you don't fall into the power of suggestion.

Your destiny is already planned and you can't change it no matter what it works out to be.

nothing is ever written in stone. you can change the outcome of things.

The lines on the reality hand are based on what will happen according to the trends in one's life and where they are leading. It is not at all impossible that someone's actions can alter that course. It is based on sort of an autopilot path. If you turn the wheel the path ahead looks different.

Both hands change. The general shape does not usually; however some parts change day to day or month to month: like colour, the mounds, the nails, finger posture, firmness of the grip, Flexability e&.

Your occupation, health and outlook on life have the most influence on your hands. Also how chaotic your life is can have a large affect adding many small lines for a short period of time. Also people with very flexable hands (ie artists vs rednecks) are usually more flexable in their position, which isn't exactly the same thing, but it is similar.

Deep lines are harder to influence by mere suggestion. Someone with fine lines is generally easier to influence.

I believe it is possible. Many things are possible through divination...

Palmistry is more the reading of the palms. I feel that the power of suggestion is more a hypnosis type thing.

As with everything that can be linked to this, even Tarot readings. The power of suggestion could, and can be associated with this subject.

So true it is possible. If you have a weak mind it is more likely than someone with a strong mind.

I've read somewhere that palmistry explains why certain things happen but not telling the future.

i do believe in palm reading i have had mine read many times bye a very gifted person everything she has told me has come true and she also said that your lines do change as the things in your life do. unfortunitly my life line hasnt and it is short.

I think it is possible for the lines on your hands to change over time, but i do not know if that means your future has changed or if that means that you are just getting older...

I think it's possible for the lines in your hands to change over time, but I don't believe in palm reading, not really. However, predictions...If somebody believes what's predicted for them they can subconsciously make it happen.

It's not confusing at all. It's very interesting. I think that, yes, the lines could change due to the power of suggestion. Why not? If your destiny can change because of it then surely the lines dictating that destiny would change.

On a side note, I had my palm read when I was in NYC. It was done on a lark, but let me tell you. It was creepy. That woman knew her stuff...

I'd say that, if the person you presented hypothetically wasn't the one to read their palm- then I don't see the power of suggestion changing the outcome.
However, I believe that people can at times talk themselves into things- so, if the person in question happened to read their own palm again- and saw they were going to have three boys- the power of suggestion may indeed be at work.

i beleive that the power of suggestion is indeed a very powerfull tool.

power of suggestion, i like it.. i say the same olds words every day ,, if i give some advise you may not use it today but later on you may and you will see the power of suggestion..

If palm readers get their shit right, I think they could just be touch-sensitives, almost a type of clairvoyancy, or psychic...Not necessarily knowing their stuff from the lines on a palm, but by their own ability...And they could do so just as easily with any other body part or maybe even none at all.

Palmistry is indeed an interesting craft.. but remember use it as a guide.. its not set in stone.

I didn't even read the thread after the question was asked I just want to tell you when I had mine read for me a year and a half ago, everything that she saw has come forth...for the people in my life not me.
Yes, I have one line in the upper curve of my palm that has shifted and grown -she told me when it reaches a certain point I would meet my husband.
My sister just met her boyfriend.

Nice thread...For the past 1 week or so.I have been interested in knowing more about palmistry....probably because one of my friends read my palm and told me a lot of good things...Lol....Anyways.....I think...really i hope that it is true but i am doubtful about the lines changing from the power of suggestion...

There are many many destinies for each of us. A change in the flow of time's sands can alter the future with ease.

I believe that things are 'planned' out since birth....but there is always a chance that something different could happen....and someone giving you ideas can change things as well

I don't know how palmistry works or any of that so I can't say if I believe that would happen. I do, however, believe in the power of suggestion in many aspects of life.

I do not know if you could change the lines on your palms with the power of suggestion i mean if you could their would be a lot of criminals running around changing their fingerprints...

i believe in palm reading and i also believe that everyone has a destiny and we are mean to be and do something and nothing is going to change that.

I did have a reading done once. It was accurate at the time.

Palm reading works. I have a friend that does palm reading and she read my palm and told me things she would not have known. as far as suggestion changing things i am not sure. I believe our destiny is already mapped out for us. Everything we do and experience is part of our master plan

I believe some characteristics, length of life, your love life etc, can be imprinted upon your palm as a type of guideline as to the direction your to move in and what you are here for to learn.
