Is the third eye meant for you to see the future, the spirit world, read people's minds, or to see the unseen,....or what? I've heard so many different answers to this question from several different religions too. Curious what people's thoughts on the subject are.

The 3rd eye. Hmmm, i suppose its for seeing what you dismiss. Like...opening your mind and being able to see the spirit world...

I think the third eye is to view anything spiritual or magical, depending on what your brain/spirit can 'interpret'.

I will have to agree with L0TUSBL0SS0M, that is what I believe, nut I have heard many many different explanations of what it is to be used for.

some say the third eye is for the future things to do with magic.. but .. I disagree with that. To each their own as usual.

I always believed the third eye was more metaphorical than physical, and that the "eye" being the mind's eye is an elevation of knowledge, wisdom, and the perception of truth.

The third eye is an energy center of the body, one of the 7 major chakras (depending upon which system you are going by). It is the part of the energy body associated with the higher mind, that which sees beyond the physical.

Using this loose interpretation, the 3rd eye is a special center indeed. Many use it for astral projection. Many use it in remote viewing. Still others harvest their sight to see the future, the past, or spiritual reality in the present.

lets see the third eye is used for many situations... it all depends on the person, and the time with witch it is "awakened"...
some people use it to see spirits, others can see into the future (not far into i may add), others can read minds and so on...there have been cases where some have some or all of these traits...

i myself can see spirits that others cant see and i can also see somethings in the future like a day in advance if its going t affect me or someone i love...

I always considered the 3rd eye to be the key to heightened senses. However i have no "training" in this matter. That is simply what I always considered it to be. So do feel free to enlighten me ;)

I don't think one particular chakra is more or less important than any other.

I try to focus on balance of them all when relaxing/meditating etc.

Perhaps others prefer to 'work' differently ?

i've accually beleived that it could be meant to see all of that accually! just if u have a third eye u would see one of the many metioned above not all or only a few u would only have the gift of foresight or having a sixth sence something like that!

it's our link into the spiritual side of the world.

I've always thought that your third eye was used to view what you can't with your two eyes. Meaning that the third eye sees beyond this world. I've always thought that the third eye saw into the future.

Its definately a portion of our auras Spiritual Field where we can see past the "Now and into the Future"

In my opinin, I believe that our third ye is to be used for insight. To be used with psychic capabalities. It could be used fr other purposes though.

The third eye is usually the term for seeing things not everybody sees. Third EYE but it can also refer to just being able to sense, hear, etc

I think the third eye is basically a psychic eye to see things that are not visible to the normal eye

from all the description I saw I beleive I do have a third eye, hopefully I'll manage to be the one controling it instead of it controling me, since so far its all it did.

the third eye is to see what those that can not, for instance when someone changes their eye color and not by contacts the third eye will allow you to see this change, or if someone changes their skin texture and not by mortal things the third eye will allow you to see this

The third eye is a term used to refer to as an individual's extra perception. Generally it is linked to seeing the future (eyes = vision; it makes sense), but I personally use it to describe all the different ways of perception.

I think its a way to tap into the spirt world. It is always used to show you the unseen. Kind of like a inner sight.

i personally think that is a way of seeing the world in a spirital way. its a way of seeing auras and the things that surround people.

the third eye is a physical and pyschic ability but you first must train your mind and then meditate...

I think it is being able to see another world, I believe that being able to read ppl's mind is a sense that most of us havent been able to utilises as yet because we have not openned our minds enuff

A couple of meanings off the top.

Firstly it is used to refer to a spiritual "eye" which can aid in perceiving spiritual realities, and as a basis for intuition, so as to develop your intuition you can "expand" your third eye. Meditation and concentration helps this.

Secondly it is a chakra point, the ajna chakra which is a focus for yogic meditation.

I agree with BLOODLIFE and Drakontion, the third eye is supposed to be the seat of expansion of psychic abilities, whether or not it actually is I can't tell you, but that's what it's supposed to be!

The third eye seems to me to be a conceptual notion rather than a physical manifestation.... the eye of the mind.... those with eyes to see suggests that perception is not localised to a fixed anatomical point but to an inner revelation of deeper level of awareness... that awareness can conceivably be of many different things.... the spirit world... a pressing concern or problem... an alternate reality... there is an emerging belief that the ancients developed telepathic abilities to communicate across oceans and continents by focussing on the attainment of a certain brain wave (common to animals, especially dogs and cats) through the invocation or focus on the third eye....

I feel it is what we have in order to open our minds up to all things possible

I also think that one's culture / education determines how much importance an individual puts in this.

Many people have very well developed psychic skills without having a conscience awareness of chakra's etc.

So it would seem the process of development of these centres can and do occur quite naturally.

I believe the third eye represents the opening of the mind to see what was, is and will be also the seeing of life with the eye of the universe

From my experience, my third eye helps me see into the spirit world. It helps me to connect with spirits who are feeling stuck in a certain location and need help finding their way again back to their loved ones.

therotically speaking the third eye would see anything, past, present future, outside this plain of existence...i am much about the dune's depiction of how meditation can shift you into a place of seeing...much like a 3rd eye would do.

I just saw the movie "From Beyond" (1986) and that was based on the Lovecraft`s short story about the electric device who stimulated the pineal gland so we could see the unseen.
Lovecraft`s short story is awesome, better then the movie, but the things that are wondering through the air are very creepy.

oh i saw From Beyond at the cinema when i was younger. the book was better. i think that was based on the idea that the pineal gland is the third eye. in actuality, it is sensitive to light, and in reptiles it is an infra red eye so they can hunt by body heat. in mammals, it merely tells them when to hibernate. it does produce seratonin though, and when it malfunctions has been linked to schizophrenia and Seasonal Adjustment Disorder.

I think it depends on the person itself on what the third eye sees. What that person truly believes in .

I strongly agree with both Harlequin & Jenova,if you do any basic study on the chakras you will find anything you might be looking for.

I think it is just a way to see what others cannot, like the things in the spiritual realm, or any of the different realms that exist. But it has to be opened you can't just use it automatically it has to be honed. I guess there are some that probably can just see more naturally.

I believe a third eye is something for people who are very gifted in the way of seeing things and feeling things that others cannot, it isnt something in my opnion that someone can force and that it just comes naturally

I thought the third eye was closed until the person is enlightened. Then you could see the future or what may be.

From what Ihave heard and seen, the third eye is for seeing what cannot normally be seen. Be it magick, spirit's, premonition's, or whatever else there is. But, like many other things in life, you most first exercise your third eye, and, yes, Practice, practice, practice. Before trying anything major, like astral projection or things like that, first exercise and practice before attempting such things. If your third eye is open, go into a cemetary or a documented haunted location in your area, and try to see the spirits that are there. Start small and work your way up with constant practice and exercise. One cannot emphasize the exercising and practicing enough. Hope all who read this take this into consideration. Carpe Noctem

i have used the third eye once before its like the demon eye it creates and elusion of the future but its not always true becasue it can change and the third eye can't harm you like the demon eye.

well they say the third eye is what we use to sse the future and for insight is my understanding...

To me the "third eye" is a way to both see the many paths that lead to the future and to see into and interact with the spirit plane

tell you what. since i dont know much about the third eye other than how to activate it

I think the third eye sees what your normals can not. It could be spirits or the future. I guess it really has to do with what you trained your third eye to do.

but i always thought of the third eye as a protection. something that could watch out for you and see things that your two eyes could not see....

I believe the meaning of a "third eye" as seeing into the future. Which, I think is true.

But, I've been told it has meant to having the sense and locating spirits.

I think your third eye is your sixth sense.
