I have dealt alot with the elder futhark of runes . I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the other rune languages out there and how they might be used.

I personally am not familiar with it but I did a quick internet search for you and came up with this LINK It's the Origins of the Runes and has the various alphabets

If you go to the second link that I posted and scroll towards the bottom there is a table and in it there is a website http://www.runemaker.com and there you will find a gold mind of stuff and links and discussion boards too

I dont practice magic however I use a great search engine Search to find all my stuff ;)~

I just enjoy helping people if I can, Maybe there will be others that are more expierienced that will give you better info but at least you have a place to start on your own.

all i know about runes is the norse runes they used them to tell the future

I do some rune magic, but I tend to do mine by either carrying around a Elder Futhark rune or by creating a bindrune.

The current bindrune I am using to enhance balance and creativity in my life is on my profile. I'm sure you'll recognize it if you see it. :)

Ogham isn't a runic language precisely, but was used for keeping records and could possibly be applied in a similar manner to the Norse runes.

I suppose if you really wanted to get into using other alphabets, you could delve into some of the magical alphabets such as Theban or dig into cuneiform or Arabic, or Hebrew lettering such as the Qabalists use...

I've had to replace all my altar stuff for similar reasons. It was challenging at times, but I learned then that I don't need all the fancy stuff if my will is strong enough. I've done serious ritual with a consecrated table knife because it was what I could get my hands on at the time...*shrug*...Some people consider that blasphemy, but it was what I had at the time.

And the rune is working. I am slowly getting my life back in balance and recreating the harmony I once had in my life.

runes are viking alphabet right?why are they magic?i read in the saga of egil scallagrim how somebody tried to poison his ale and he wrote runes on the drinking horn and it exploded.

Why are voodoo dolls magic or any other icon for that matter . It is the belife behind them . Your energy helps give them power .

i know this lady that was making runes out of rocks and painting symbols on them .will they work the sames as any other ones?

They most likely would . I had a set i made out of oak and blood that worked great . als they were stolen .

Not a problem I am always glad to help where i can . I still need more info about the several other futharks of runes that are out there though.

Some people use runes by laying them out flat face down and laying their hand over them and 'feeling' which one is the right one to pick up. The left hand is to receive ( in right handed people) There are several layouts, one is like the tarot layout. That is , you pick three runes and the first is your past situation, the second rune you draw is your present situation, and the third rune you draw is your future outcome, action or situation. Some people also like to just choose a rune by blindly picking one out of the rune bag. This is the method I usually prefer, only because it is the quickest and it gives me something to think about pertaining to my question.

Aside from the Futhark, most I have found have been rather recent creations. Though I do not use them in a Divination purpose. And have been studing other forms of Magickal Symbols from several cultures around the world. What exactlly are you looking for?

I have a set of Runes myself, but I too prefer readig tea leaves.
