ok we all know that are many people that are vampires here but many of us do not calim to be immortal, i also see that there are many lycans here. So while i beleive that anything is possible, i doubt that there are people who actually transform into a werwolf. so may question is what makes you a lycan?
to be a vampire you feed on anothers blood or energy to live but they are not the undead or immortal so what makes a lycan?

What makes a person a lycan is there favorite night is in the moonlight & they love meat & blood & that they have strength that is parallel
i agree, also someone that feels drawn to the moon and doesnt know why
lycan is short for lycanathrope wgich is the proper term for werewolfs werewolf is slang and some consider it derogatory
No, lycan is a shortened form of lycanthropy, which is the blood disease that supposedly makes you a werewolf. It comes from the Greek language and indicates the power of a human to transform into a wolf or have wolf-like characteristics.
What makes you a werewolf is always being drawn to the moon and a desire to yell/howl to draw attention to its beauty, a reverent and protective attitude towards nature, dreams of running with the wolves, a self-sufficient nature with a desire to be with a group, a certain pride and inner feeling of being capable of handling anything, but primarily it's the strong animal connection with the wolf.
Looking through the forums and into the vampire discussion, you'll see many people use the terms "folklore vampire" and "realistic vampire" or "modern day vampire".
It's to my belief that it's the same with any other "mythical" creature that people say exist today.
I think the fact and the truth differentiate with werewolves as much as they do with vampires.
For instance, someone may consider themself a werewolf(or any other wereanimal) if they feel a close bond with the animal or exhibit some of their habits.
As for actual shapeshifting, I, too, find that hard to believe..but you never know.
isnt a lucan a vampire and a werewolf boyj together threw there bloodline.... thats what ive been learning that they are also a hybred as well .. am I wrong ?
Theshining1, it was to my understanding that a lycan was a weewolf and a hybrid was...a hybrid. lol.
yep... lycan is a werewolf... don't know about lucan though... typing error?
I would have to agree with previous statements... that a lycan is soemone who feels a strong attraction to the moon and a strong attractin to the wolf... a strong bond.
i personally consider myself a lycan because i am bonded with the wolf and i exhibat many traits of the wolf but some have told me that doesnt make a lycan thus the reason for this forum
Well I say it again if the person is upsessed with being near the moonlight when it comes & they are a carnivore they are wolfs or lycans.
All so you must realize that in reality if the only way you can be a lycan is to transform then you ar e misatken.
Because that is in the movies they just have the wants of a lycan & so therefore a person can actually be a lycan.
Thank you slaveofthenight.
I say what i said because I am sure you are refering to reality right?
But now I put a question out.
Lycans have a strong dislike for any type of dog do they not?
slaveofthenight- Keep in mind that everybody has a different opinion, and if you feel like you're a lycan, and you consider yourself one...Who are they to say that you aren't?
wolfkiller- I would think that it would really depend on the individual.
yes i am talking about reality
and about the dog thing i see them as inferior and i consider it an insult for one to growl bark etc at me but i dont hate them, most see me as their alpha and they serve me i guess they can sense lycans. i dont hate them i just expect them to serve me
I see now I ask can we get some sites on the wants of a real life lycan just to have a general idea?
I think that blood enhances the taste of meat, so I keep my steaks heated 1 minute on either side. Still that doesn't make me lycan, though, does it? I think not.

nice pic Jens
i dont know exacle what make a person a lycan or a vamp personly with what everyone is saying i would be both ao i dont know how that works
Nothing makes anyone a Lycan. It's Hollywood bullshit, thank you very much.
Lycanthropy has been around for many years and in many different countries and shamans believed in shape shifters. Now for me I don't believe someone can turn into a werewolf by the moonlight, but spiritually yes I do believe they can take on attributes of the animal and we even use it in expressions the eyes of an eagle, the courage of a lion and the strength of a bear. I mean shamans for years have used animals and saw through the eyes of an eagle or ran with the pack, so why could it not be a very strong link with this animal to make them believe they actually change into it and that actually they see through this animals eyes for a time period.
i also think that lycans have special strength... one of the traits of some lycans i know is that... they´re very strong... even if they are slender...
Well I always believed what made them lycan was the meat and blood on that full moon night the one night they cannot resist. Every other night they can push the temptation away, but on a full moon I don't believe they can.
a lycan on a full moon cant deny their temptation, they must feed on a full moon.......when they are born it is on a full moon and thats why they cant resist the full moon
This topic is discussed even more then Vlad Dracula being a "real" vampire.
Lycan--short for Lycanthrope or Lycanthropy.
Again...Lycan was made up in the Underworld movies...MADE UP...as in NOT real...much like Vampires...they don't exist...you may think you are a Lycan...you may live like a Lycan...you may go around telling people you are a Lycan. The moon may affect you when it is full...you may like the taste of blood...but you are NOT a Lycan.
Let me also state...before anyone gets hyper and lets say..."Wolf" out.
This is MY opinion.
Only reason why this is being discussed more than any vampire thread...Is the fact that topics on vampires tend to get boring and repetitious after a while, so this would be a breath of fresh air for most on the rave, or at least some.
I can’t speak for others but for myself what makes me a lycan is the pull of the moon on me. The physical need for raw meats, I stay way from poultry because of the physical forms weaknesses to disease. Also the moon has a significant impact on my moods. I do not physically transform in to a wolf but I do have a wolf like way of fighting and way of life. As were’s go there is nothing to say that they can’t transform, I have never seen it but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen. And the immortal thing, no I am not, but I do have an extended life span, right now I look to be about 25 years of age but I am actually closer to 400 years of age but I know I will not live for ever it is not a good thing for somebody to life for ever they lose themselves but that is a different topic.
Meh, you got fur, and fleas, you live in a fictional novel, and you look like a wolf swallowed a hippo.
You do know the term 'lycan' was coined by The Underworld movies, correct? So this is a toughy for me to ever take serious.
If someone was actually over 400 years old...they one...would be in the news...two checked by doctors to prove it and three...locked in a small cell by the US Government with scientists running a hell of alot of tests to see what kept them going...sorry to burst your bubble...you are NOT over 400 years old...maybe in your fantasy world or the RPG you are addicted to.
But darkwolf if they were they would not be able to be caught & if you remember the lycans could change at will in the underworld movie.
While most of these people feel the effects that they describe during the full moon.
Are you refering to the whole thing DeathOfLeon of a particular post?
Not sure if Lycanthropy exsists however i find it a nice fantasy. But ive got to say i dont believe in werewolves anymore than i believe in vampires.
Well my opinion is that it is one who shows wolf type traits.. meaning that when they get mad face snarls, teeth bare, and instead of a fist fingers curl at mid finger joints almost resembling paws ready for attack .. . also very protective of loved ones and like my self tend to function better in the night hours
are lycans better at playing fetch?
lol
sorry just had too
This is the most interesting thread I have seen in a little bit *I mean in a few days*.
Has a lot of opinions in it.
real lycans. their are many possible ways you can be considered a Lycan. A friend of mind conisders himself a lycan due to his rather dark habits and his attraction to meat as well as the fact he went on a spirit journey and found out his spirit animal is a wolf.
Also ,although the idea of a human transforming into a half-wolf is a little far fetch, i believe it is possible. Its kind of hard to place who is and who is not a lycan outside of that kind of thing but I'm sure there are ways
i've normally only seen werewolves in movies, but has very rarely ever met real life persons who call themselves *werewolves*.
Lycans exist in Hollywood movies. It was made popular in the movie Underworld.
Anyone who claims they are Lycan is out to lunch. There is no Lycan life stylers, really what do you do run out and bark at the moon, piis off your neighbors and lift your leg on the fire hydrants?
WTF, Soooooo boring. New topic please.
Lycans was just a name coined for the movie underworld.
Now lycanthropy ,otherkin and therians there is many siteson the net for this belief and even communities much like vampire houses throughout the world, but most of these communities are very secretive as due to their nature. Thats about all I can say to each their own.
One of my best friends could be described as a lycan. She identifies so strongly with the wolf that it shines through her in every way. Even my very straight laced christian mother chooses to call her wolf over her given name. I don't know that I could pick on any particular trait that would definitively make her a wolf, just that when I look at her it is all that I can see. Does that make sense?
Lycanthrophy is a medical fact...a mental illiness.
I am 1/4 Apache...the wolf is my spirit guide...but I don't grow fangs and fur during the full moon...Im a meat eater but I like it well done.I hate the sight of blood and the taste(if I bite my lip or something).I am not a Lycan...because they don't exist...step back into the real world.
BTW this trhead had been closed afew times...reopening them is a no no.
I think this is a good topic...there are many ways many differences that people use and would conciter themselves lycan for. Gives them a chance to help others understand.
I always thought they were slightly animalistic in nature, not all the time but better sense of smell and hunting skills, strength even if they are very slim built, and perhaps abit fanged. Liking of rawer meats and fresh kill. But who knows. Personally I believe anything is possible even shape shifting.
For all who think this post is irrelevant don't post on it and put the negative energy on it.
And for those who think it is a good topic lets put our mind into it so we can focus on it & maybe supply a answer to those who are looking.
And the original post never said anything about movies in the first place you all just turned automatically to that because you have the brain the size of a peanut.
And cannot look past that part of it.
He asked"WHAT WOULD MAKE A LYCAN IN THE REAL STATE A LYCAN" he was not asking about transformation tego & darkwolf. Whether a real lycan would like being near the moon & eating raw meat.
A Lycan is not really a wolf. However what they transform into does resemble a wolf. It's more of an animal like transformation kind'a like the way Jekyll transformed into Hyde. Some animals bits have been known to cause such a mutation.
...BTW, neither vampires nor lycans are immortal. They are gifted with long lives though.
Why do you say shoalinwicca?
About them not being immortal?
wolfkiller -
Probably because they're both able to be killed.
Oh dear...
You people seriously do not believe that there are things that look like men but were born animal?
I do not think people can shift shape into animal form... But being drawn to the moon, and feeling empowered by it... alot of belief systems have this incorporated this into rites or rituals
You are funny akri that is good mate.
A lycan is the proper name for a were.
Idon't believe we believe in them but it is more of a conversational type matter Akri.
most people that claim to be lycan dont like vampires so why would the dog be on a vampire site?
lycan is short for "lycanthrope" or werewolf. u know, man who changes into an abomination of half wolf half man on the full moon.
Lycans are werewolves. Abominations are half vampire half werewolf
Lycans are werewolves just a different way. If you think about it a dog changing into a beast form of itself is just like a person changing into a beast form of himself/herself. In other words a werewolf. So in general terms a Lycan is a werewolf.
A Lycan is sort of like a beast of the night. A werewolf that is not much of being just a gigantic dog that has a fetish for blood. Besides like it says in the movie the Lycans were also the guards of the vampire's tombs when they were asleep. Also in the past they were just poor servents of the vampire's,but no more... They are their worst enemies in the struggle to survive.
people talk about being drawn to the moon, but what if you where drawn to the sun??
i think there is all kind of lifes so yes there can be lycans in this world with vampires
there are many lifes out there so who knows what could be out there in the most remote places. no one is certain on what could be out there. but it is possible for lycans to exsist a long with vampires
wolfkiller - Technically lycan is a name created by Hollywood.
Actually if you look it up nocnamora it will be in defintion.
''Lycan is the name of a fictional race in the movie Underworld and its sequel.''
I forgot to add, I looked up lycan and thats what it came up with.
a lycan feeds on blood but also eat's raw meat.and they do get there energy from the spirit they eat.
