There are many stories based on reality. Alice in Wonderland, and Hansel and Gretel were based on true stories. Is it possible that there is more truth to these stories than some believe? Could've the witch been real? What about Wonderland. Perhaps Alice was not dreaming after all.

Maybe Alice ate the magic mushrooms ?

Reality seems spread pretty thin for most stories....but they are entertaining just the same.

Maybe the twisted reality in his head.

Alot of fables seem to bear truth in one way or another . yet through the ages of interpitation the story becomes stretched to the point of fantasy.

I think that every story is based on real events that happened. Though most stories will twist and change over time I think there is always some fact hiding in them.

Lewis Carrol wrote Alice in Wonderland after an experience with drugs. I doubt there is any reality base to the story, except the reality of what certain drugs do to the mind.

there is always a shred of truth to those stories, but its not usually what the story is about, and is very loosely used to make a story.

Even Nursery rhymes are included here and I like this tread I look forward to others insights.
The Brothers Grimm stories have been so watered down over time that the Morals they went for are lost ie stranger danger..."don't go into a dark forest all alone.

I oike stories that don't have happy 4endings but in todays culture loony Tunes are censored because there is violence against animated characters ????

Most stories and movies for that matter are based on true events. But there are suttle changes made to protect ppl and so the writer doesnt have to fork out money for the story.

I guess Alice was tied down a bed, wich made her mind go very deep in to her self, wich created this irresistible personal world, wich was entertaining in her activitie dry condition.

Hey, Tego you beat me to the punch with that bit of biographical material. Carroll's creation is a delight, however he managed to create it. makes one wonder about how a lot of "art movements" got started: surrealism, dadaism.

Many folk tales and stories were not necessarily founded on "reality," but on a culture's fears and superstitions. Hansel and Gretal and others were stories told in the oral tradition. The Grimm brothers were among the first to write them down.

i believe in my oppinion that most stories are based on some truth,whether it be a good truth or a sad reality of truth.

They all have a reality meaning it is up to the person to decifer it.
But if you do then you will probably find out most children's books are unhealthly for children.

BloodAngelX, I write stories. Does that mean you believe there is fact in them, that they are all true in some aspect?

I think most have one true thing, they are tru to the mind who creates them. and therefore become somehow true,as they are based on the life their creaotr has lived, on the good and bad things they have come across. driving them to write those stories, sohow making them based on truth.

There have been deer whose mothers were killed by hunters. Does that mean Bambi is based on fact? Or evil stepmothers have existed from very early on. So is Cinderella based on fact? Stories may have a kernal of truth but that does not make them truthful or historical. Any good story has something in it that can be considered believeable or familiar. That doesn't make it true. Myths and legends were more often than not based, not on fact, but on perception and superstition. And the great story tellers, from the beginning of time, have turned those legends into something that many now consider something "based on truth." The evil shall inherit the earth, and the naive shall leave it to them.

these are things we'll never know but are good possibilities

I personally think we can never find out what those stories mean in a real sense- more so in any other artistic expression- unless we break into the minds of the artists who did it or if they explain their works themselves. Other than that, I think that writings or any other art be appreciated for what they are and not exhumed.

Its a possibility.
