Has anyone heard of the Immortals,a society of people that are said to be descendants of those who drank from the fountain of youth?

The Fountain of Youth is a legendary spring that reputedly restores the youth of anyone who drinks of its waters. Florida is said to be its location, and stories of the fountain are some of the most persistent stories associated with the state.

this is not so much a tread on the fountain as it is the society that built around it.They are said to stage their deaths and resurface with the same last name and first two initials to allow continued access to the foundations funds like for example George Blow Green

It seems pretty unlikely to me that offspring of those who drank from the Fountain would age slower, though I can't rule it out. Look at the effects (affects?) Agent Orange and other chemicals have had on life forms...

The Fountain of Youth was originally thought to of been located on an island named Bimini in the region of the Bahamas. Ponce De Leon had mistakenly landed on Florida thinking it was an island. His main search was in the interest of finding gold and treasures not the Fountain of Youth. I believe it to be nothing more than a romantic myth.

The Talamasca is said to be an secret organization of "watchers." They are to watch, explore and document cases of paranormal and supernatural occurances (sp.) They are never to interfere.

From what I understood when I was reading the Rice novels, they are a fictional organization, but I have been told that there truly is such an organization, known by a different name. The members are not immortal.

I would highly doubt the vampire is a sworn enemy of the Templar Knights. For myself being a Freemason, this is a point I am making...I am vampire born and accepted by the Freemasons of whom are consisting of the Templar Knights.

As for the mythical fountain of youth, this is just another relaxed story to satisfy the traveling foot, going from place to place in search of the meaning of life.

Though I have heard of the fountain of youth story, I have never heard of a particular group associated with it.

I'm guessing Florida as a likely location for said fountain or group may be a joke.....but it's interesting that this myth has a modern home now, however unlikely.

I went to St. Augustine for my honeymoon, which is where the Fountain of Youth is claimed to be in Florids. I've tasted the water there, YUCK!. If I have to drink that in order to live longer, forget it!

i too think the fountain of youth gave you long health and such. but not immortality. as for the group i have not heard of them.

The human body itself is capable of living and regenerating for hundreds of years, there is a chemicle the brain produces that tells the body to regenerate, as we get older this chemical depletes and our bodies age, but perhaps there was a fountain of water that contained a chemical that triggered the same responce from the human body, hence making it appear it was the water granting long life when in fact it was soemthing in the water allowing the body to regenerate on its own?

Well stated Utah Vamp.Something in the water.I share the view that it does not create immortality but prolonged regeneration could make a body well preserved.The Grail (if it has the same property as the spring)could provide the same effect.

I fail to see what the grail could possibly do to prolong life, scientifically. It's a cup that was supposedly used at the "last supper". Nothing special there. Even if it had anything special about it, after years of use, anything special about it would have been washed or worn away. Any thoughts?

The existence of immortals appears highly unlikely. Legends of the fountain of youth have yet to been proven.

The entire state of FL has been mapped and even most of it's aquifers. There is no fountain here. It's just a legend.

What is apparent to me is how little humans have changed over the centuries: they seek immortality and eternal youth. They seek to forestall the natural cycle, they negate the value of age and the wisdom that should come with it. Drinking from the Grail would be quite difficult but if you think it is a chalice then I would guess you could do that but that idea is questionable. There are suppose to be all sorts of immortal beings but to me that is just what they are, stories. Everyone seeks youth and to live forever out of the fear of the unknown; death. No one knows and as far as living in Florida this elderly person would not go there. Every year during the hurricane season they get bashed and many lose homes, or even their lives. I lived in S. GA for awhile and I would NEVER live in Florida. I still cannot understand why they call it the sunshine state. Seems like an oxymoron to me.

There are also "healing pools" overseas (I can't remember where anymore) that do have healing properties because of the minerals or elements in them.

i will say this to put some recollence if there even or ever was a fountain of youth three things could of happened.

1.It dryed up from everybody drinking from it.

2.Maybe it exists somewhere else abel & them lived to be 980 yrs old so maybe they used it all then.

3.All the global warming we have maybe it dryed up because water has receded.
