Not too familiar with the Oregon vortex, but have had friends visit Sedona, AZ and talk about the power of where the ley lines intersect.

This is from www.sacred-destinations.com about Sedona:

The city of Sedona is located in the Verde Valley of northern Arizona. Long renowned for the stunning beauty of its red sandstone formations, Sedona has also become a gathering place for New Age adepts, who believe the region emanates a mystical power.

Founded in 1902, Sedona was incorporated as a city in January 1988 and now has a population of about 15,000. In the 1960s and '70s, Sedona's surroundings began attracting retirees, artists and tourists in large numbers, but it wasn't until around 1980 that New Agers began touting Sedona's vortex power and the free birds really started flocking in.

Now one of the world's centers for the New Age movement, the small city attracts large numbers of believers, tourists, and the curious looking to experience the "power vortices" of the red-rock country. According to believers, a vortex is a site where the earth's unseen lines of power (ley lines) intersect to form a particularly powerful energy field.

Vortex tours are available from several companies and the town of Sedona is full of bulletin boards and publications advertising such diverse services as past-life regressions, crystal healing, angelic healing, tarot readings, reiki, axiatonal therapy, electromagnetic field balancing, soul recovery, channeling, aromatherapy, myofacial release, and aura photos and videos.

I used to live in Sedona, and there are vortexes all over the place .It is quite a comfortable place, however,on the other side of the coin,Tahoe gives one a really weird feeling, and that damn sound never stops.Im not sure if Tahoe has been declared a Vortex, but I think I will find out.
I do think alot of the illusions seen at the Oregon Vortax are just that..illusions.But what about the rest of it? Mass hysteria type thing? Or real effects of EMF?

I saw a video on this, they did some interesting stuff. I'm not sure if what you see is affected by the surroundings, such as the tilted house, but it sure is fascinating.

I tried looking for some good videos of it on Youtube but I couldn't find any showing some of the crazy stuff they do.

I have never heard of the Oregon Vortex.

Difficult to know what to think even after reading the links.

There seems to be as much of a case for mass hysteria as genuine phenomenon.

Yes, Oregon is a Vortex of boredom.

But really, I had no clue anything like this existed. I'll look into it. Nice thread.

Its almost like being in one of those vortex tubes.I know they make me feel rather ill.

However,Sedona is not like that..there are no "mystery spots" with optical illusions as far as I know.

Ley lines from www.skepdic.com to assist with those people not too familiar with the term:

Ley lines are alleged alignments of ancient sites or holy places, such as stone circles, standing stones, cairns, and churches. Interest in ley lines began with the publication in 1922 of Early British Trackways by Alfred Watkins (1855-1935), a self-taught amateur archaeologist and antiquarian. Based upon the fact that on a map of Blackwardine, near Leominster, England, he could link a number of ancient landmarks by a series of straight lines, he became convinced that he had discovered an ancient trade route. Interest in these alleged trade routes as sources of mystical energy has become very popular among New Agers in Great Britain.

Today, ley lines have been adopted by New Age occultists everywhere as sources of power or energy, attracting not only curious New Agers but aliens in their UFOs and locals with their dowsing rods. These New Age occultists believe that there are certain sites on the earth which are filled with special "energy." Stonehenge, Mt. Everest, Ayers Rock in Australia, Nazca in Peru, the Great Pyramid at Giza, Sedona (Arizona), Mutiny Bay, among other places, are believed to be places of special energy. There is no evidence for this belief save the usual subjective certainty based on uncontrolled observations by untutored devotees. Nevertheless, advocates claim that the alleged energy is connected to changes in magnetic fields. None of this has been scientifically verified. Maps have been produced, however, with lines on them which allegedly mark off special energy spots on earth.

No, but I tell you that "my other self" was driving from Phx up to Sedona for the first time. As soon as I reach the red rock, second bend, the song "Spirit in the Sky" came on the radio. Lets say that it was a good thing that nobody was in the car, or coming in the opposite direction. Took a little while to clear my eyes. But the timing of the song could not have been better. Hit me good. Great place t check out.

Don't take too much stock in the ley lines any more. They're not there! We're using the golden christ grid system now that is being anchored to the vortexes.

I've never been there, but might go in the future. It sounds very interesting, but I cant see that there seems to be a bigger deal regarding it? Fascinating in a way, but nothing too special. Time might show more meaning and use to it.

This is an interesting thread, and I appreciate the U Tube videos. Perception is an interesting thing. For example, the top of the Parthenon is not actually a straight line. If it were, we would perceive it not to be straight. Some of these concepts were understood at the time of its building, and modern psychology has taken great strides to explain even more.

When your eyes see something your brain converts it into something that you can recognize as "reality". So what you see is an illusion you think is real, no mystery there. I have been to Sedona, Lake Taho, and Santa Cruz and Sedona is not an illusion, nor is the Lake. But Santa Cruz is tourist trap.

I'm from Washington state...
My dad and I visited the Oregon Vortex... but I didn't really get any strange feelings or sensations from it... It was just... Awkward, I suppose.

As far as the vortex lines and such in Seattle... Well... being from WA... It could explain why I feel so awesome there all the time.

There's a group that went up to Mt. Rainier (my hometown is RIGHT underneath the mountain~beautiful) and tried to discover a vortex there... Don't think they did lol
