I'm sure people have heard what happened already...If not, Dimebag Darrell was shot 5 times and killed in concert...I just wanna hear what people have to say and pay their respects..what would you do if a member of your band was shot and killed in concert?
R.I.P -tears cried on your grave addvertising long love and respect-
It is a tragedy, but to be honest, this happens everyday, to all walks of life, in all countries.
He got to at least die doing what he loved, and I'm sure he was having a ball at the time, who wouldn't want to go out like that.
My friend was there when it happened, she lives in Ohio. I couldn't believe it almost...I mean. You think you'll live forever but this really makes me see that crazy things do happen everyday. But, like someone said, he was probably having fun and got to go out doing what he loved.
I was speechless when i found out about the great loss of THE most influential guitarists in heavy metal.
I just sent word of this to Niles and our friend Tom.
It's... *just shakes her head*

But, through your music, you are a true immortal.
With respect.

I didn't listen to pantera but i respected them anyway and after consoling a friend who loved them all i can say is Rest In Peace you will be missed
*lights a candle*
My guy friend (my girlfriend's ex boyfriend...figure that one out) seemed really depressed, Darrell was who made him want to start playing the guitar, which he's been doing now for 12 years. I feel bad, because...well my friend lost his "hero" so to speak.
He got shot once and his brother was killed too. Five people were killed including them. RIP Dimebag and Vinne. You'll live in on in your music!
I was on the way to work yesterday when I heard the news. I burst into tears and damn near ran off the road. That band is very special to several friends and I as we listened to then like most everyone else here...
Its a shame things like this have to happen. I have a special perspective on this situation doing what I have done for a living (and am now attempting to get back into it). I was a PPS (personal protection specialist... formal speak for bodyguard). Its difficult in certain situations and with specific wards (term for the person we're protecting) to protect them ALL the time. Look at the movie Bodyguard with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. It was hard for him to do his job because she didnt want him there.
Vinnie Pauls roadie took a bullet for him... thus saving his life (so i find this morning with the radio). Cheers to that man.
As for the shooter... well... he got what he gave, apparently.
May he be forever comfy in the appropriate level of hell (Ima have to look that up... my copy of Dante's Inferno is in my truck).
I know im gonna keep listening to thos Pantera cd's... just 'cause Darrells not here, doesn't mean he's gone...
Rock on brotha' man... Big Metal (sign of the devil in the air).. See ya later...
Rock.
Forgive my mistake I had heard Vinne was killed also.

I think that many of the nation's people will miss the influence he had on us all....He was one hell of a rocker, and we will remember him always.....As for what I would do if someone were to shoot and kill one of my and members, iwould hunt them down, and kill them in the slowest, most painful way I could think of....R.I.P. Darell

~*~Me~*~
Don't feel bad, my 17 male friend cried about Darrell's death.....he's planning on doing lsd, drinking and some other crazy crap with his ex girlfriend tommorow so he can "honor" Darrell whom he told me he once got drunk with (I do know he met him, He SAID he got drunk with him...who knows?) ...anyone else think that is stupid? Honoring someone by putting yourself at risk? Especially with LSD. Geez. Weed would even be better.
thats not good..my 18 year old ex even cried but he would never do anything that could risk anything bc of it even tho hes having a bad time with it like everyone else...
lol jason after all the eulogies and deep sadness you sure do now how to derive the thought process ....
but yes with the continuance of what has been said above ...
I also grieve for metal music
although Pantera is not one of my fav bands - its just pathetic that some demented fuck up can come in to a concert
and do such a thing....
so many problems in the homeland and yet we fight our battles overseas -
grrrrrrrrrrrrr
***Throws flag and blows whistle!***
While I agree with Drac's sentiment, I have to flag him for lifting the lid on the Pandora's box that is politics. Let's not let that particular beasty sully the sanctity of this thread. Dimebag would have wanted it that way. :-D
5 yard penalty. Replay first down.
Pantera ROCKS!
Good call sugar....
**hands Jason a "great tasting, less filling Miller Lite"**
roflmao

He was an influence, a performer, and an inspiration.
R. I. P. bro!
i was first introduced to pantera 15 years ago and still listen to this day. i feel bad not for the lack of his future influence on music but for his family.
dimebag darrel R.I.P...you will be truely missed...
i didnt know pantera that well...but i can tell he was a real god, and a great inspiration for everyone. +++ may he rest in peace...
Numbing rumble, countless medicine,
Depleted from years of abuse
Death rattle shaking
And there's no faking, undertaking
Pressure point, rigor mortis
Induce, grasp of poison hands
Death rattle shaking
From years of compulsive mistaking
Death rattle shakes (x2)
Disease of eyes, the addict blindfold, reduced to
The realms of death
Death rattle shaking
Accumulating life it’s taking
Death rattle shakes (x4)
(Mid)
I’ve seen the end, and there is no light.
Like deadly snakes, death rattle shakes
(Solo)
Death rattle shakes (x4)
In Memoriam Dimebag Darrell
It was a painful loss for us all. With all the modern security we have at concerts these days this kind of shit is'nt supposed to happen...its like the loss of an old friend.... I grew wanting to no not only wanting but dreaming to be as great of a guitarist as DIME and to see an idol fall at the hands of some worthless pile of rat shit is heartbreaking......
im not disagreeing with you or anything but i have to say that at the gigs ive been to there wasnt actually much security. i think it would actually be rather easy to jump up on stage and attack the bands, and even the fans.
Dimebag Darrell was a true inspiration to all- his family, friends, fans , absolutely everyone
He is missed and will never be forgotton
He made a great impact on metal music- metal will never be the same
RIP Dimebag Darrell
When i went to a Eminem gig UK, we got very well searched.. no way could a person of concealed a weapon... In these times of darkness and extreme rage, the protection of 'stars' and normal people should be of prime concern.. Such tragedies should not be alowed to happen. But then there is Fate.....
R.I.P Dimebag Darrell
'quem di diligunt adolescens moritur'

A great musician taken again....seems it happens to the best of em.....the world will truly miss his talents in the studio and on the stage.........i feel too many ppl have noticed him now..(just to be cool)..than really listened to his music before his death....similar to Kurt Cobain...noticed more after his death by posers.....just my opinion though....im glad more ppl have taken recognition of his skills now though...even though its a little late.
