I've got this antique blood red water pitcher holds about a gallon and 5 4 1/2 inch glasses with it, of course one was broken long ago but I dedided to see if I could find a replacement on ebay so off I went hunting and good heavens what a bunch of stuff to seach through if you type in red glassware. lol
Most of it seems to be some red glassware that Avon put out for a few years but mine predates that stuff.
I finally went to another site to track down the style and it's from the 1930's and called baltic Royal Ruby water goblets by anchor-hocking-cryst.
With this I went back to Ebay and still couldn't find my glasses available but I did find my pitcher and would you believe they wanted 60 dollars for it!!! I finally found a glassware site off google search where I could buy 4 of them so I did just in case I break any more over the years.
They are really beautiful at Christmas time but also are great for serving drinks at Halloween as they are deep red and any liquid in them looks like blood :)
I knew when I saw him it wouldn't be long but the doctor's 3 months was less than 2 weeks in reality. We got the call late last night that Uncle Jake has passed and we sat staring at each other for a few minutes wondering at the changes in the family dynamic this will bring about.... will his elder brother Bud survive this news as just hearing he was sick sent him into a decline and he was hanging on by his fingernails already.
The crazy part was Uncle Jake seemed to be perfectly healthy, was fishing with his son when he developed a backache and his son made him go to the doctor. The VA did some tests and decided really fast it was cancer of his spine, then the next day it was in his liver too and by the 3rd day in his brain. They used 3 chemo treatments to try and help the pain but they really seemed to just accelerate the disease.
I've had it in my head that Uncle Jake was a Korean War vet but he was actually a Vietnam Vet, his brother Clyde was a Korean vet and his 2 older brothers Bud and Dutch were WWII vets, some of Bud and Dutch's older sons were also Vietnam vets. The ratio of boys to girls in the family is about 4 to 1 in the boys favor so I guess it figures there'd be a lot of vets in the family.
Birdie sent me a message her father in law had just passed away last night a Korean War Vet and I returned with one about Jake. :(
Going to be getting in touch with family today with the details and figuring out who might need a bed to borrow. So I'd best get to work getting ready and keeping busy helps anyway.
I lost my own Dad to cancer about 25 years ago so I know the pain David (his son) is going though and I hate that for him. His wife is a lovely woman who has been with him and his parents all through this ordeal so bless her for being a truly nice person.
I know Uncle Bud's kids will stay close to him during this just in case, but I'm doubtful he'll make it to the funeral, which will hurt him too. :(

Sorry :(
I'll tell you like I told Birdy- my love and prayers are with you both. If you need me, give me a call.
Sorry :( I know it must be such a difficult time. Currently my husband's brother is on his death-bed with lung cancer. He refused chemo treatment, and he had his annointment and last rites yesterday :( He is so young.. but they say that God takes away all the best ones first...
So sorry for your family's loss.
So sorry for your family's loss.
::love:: to you too. :/ I am so sorry.
I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm glad your uncle is no longer in pain.
It's been a physically tiring and emotionally distressing day with no good news anywhere :(
Made my first visit to a VA hospital today to see my Uncle Jake who finally went to the doctor after years of pain in his back. He kept saying it was arthritis but the tests came back very different. He has cancer in all but 2 of his spinal vetrebrae and his liver too. He's already turned quite yellow looking. He's also in intense pain from the back pressing on nerves, so they are giving him large chemo treatments in a attempt to shrink it until he can stand the pain.
They say they can do no more than 10 treaments to try and alleviate the pain but they also say he won't survive long enough to get them. Seems they told some of the family he miight have 3 months anyone looking at him can see it would take a true miracle for him to ever leave the VA hospital.

Here when you need me....hugs.
I love you- and I am very sorry.
~hugs~
♥ I'm sorry about your uncle. I hope they find a way to make him as comfortable as possible.
I honestly wish I had more hours in the day as I'm not getting to do nearly as much as I want to on here or at home. :(
Good news is I did get to spend some time with Rat and Birdie and Mr Birdie last night and it was fun and relaxing. Bad part was I couldn't help Rat with her spare laptop as the virus she had picked up, had eat that sucker up totally and nothing left to save :(
Another week of running starts tomorrow with my own doctor apt then need to hit the grocery store but I bet he dialates my eyes which will screw up my vision for the most of the day.
What am I saying I know he will as I have
Diabetic retinopathy which is damage to the blood vessels in the retina caused by diabetes. But I've had it for some time now with no further damage but that's why I drag my butt into that office to sit for hours then have everything hazy for hours afterward, blindness scares the heck out of me. Like it doesn't every right? lol
But time I get moving today and get some work done as TrueBlood is on tonight and I sure do enjoy seeing what direction that story is going as the books are a completely different universe.

:) It was fun last night, and good luck on the eye testing.
Sorry that the treatment isn't nice for you but I'm glad that your eyesight can be treated :)
...and...There are never enough hours in any day.. but I sometimes take naps that go on too long so I usually feel I've done two days in one! LOL
You need a clone!
She needs a herd of clones- that woman is a dynamo...lol
