Three and a half years and I am still madly in love with someone who is smart, funny, honest, and good-natured.

Damn I am lucky.

Yes you are.

But then, so is that person.

We hope to be at least half as successful as the two of you are.

;)

The field that we usually take the pup to play at is now off the list. Three mountain lions were sighted. Even though authorities believe they have left the area, I really have no desire for the dog or me to be a lion snack.

It is interesting to see several people come by and rate my portfolio/profile low due to nonworking images.

You would think that they might reserve rating or giving out lower rates when all portfolios were erased and many premium members profiles have broken images since they used VR file storage.

A Night in the Kitchen

17:45 Mar 28 2008
Times Read: 863

Last night was a wonderful evening spent in the kitchen. Awhile has past since we last cooked together, but it is something both of us really enjoy. It was decided that we would try our hands at making lemon bars- something neither of us have ever made. While the dough part at the bottom was a headache to create, the end result of the dish was scrumptious.

Photobucket

Our other creation was a made up recipe that originally would be a cream cheese base spread to make pinwheels out of. Of course it didn't work out according to plan but we ended up with a yummy cream cheese/onion/sour cream/bacon dip.

It wouldn't be a night in the kitchen without a few glasses of wine. By the end of the night I was tipsy and so hungry, but the dip had to be locked away in the fridge to cool and the lemon bars did not sound like a well-balanced meal. I ended up making some home made mac n cheese- a dish I apparently only make when I am drunk. Then I do something most people never do while drinking or eating macaroni- I eat it with chopstick. Why? Because I like the challenge.

Please if you are going to ever send me a message, do not just type "OMG."

It's too short to really make me pay attention.

If it really is a shocker, why not just tell me now instead of waiting for the inevitable "what" response?

Catholic Guilt

I was having a discussion earlier today with someone who was unfamiliar with the term Catholic guilt. I mentioned that I was a recovering Catholic, and that chances are even 20 years from now I will always consider myself recovering from it. One can never truly get away from the Catholic guilt phenomenon that many believers and ex believers admittedly suffer from.

Catholic guilt is an intense feeling of remorse for doing something that is wrong. For many people the guilty feeling from doing something wrong or against the Church's teaching is a minor thing, even for those of most other faiths. They pray for forgiveness if they do feel guilt, but otherwise go on with their life. On the other hand, Catholicism attaches quite a bit more guilt to any and every sin. Sexual thoughts, birth control, homosexuality, divorce, pre-marital sex, masturbation, abortion, accidentally consuming meat on Fridays during Lent or Advent, or merely over sleeping on Sunday morning and missing mass.

Thirteen years of Catholic school and you never forget what constitutes a sin. You know that the only mechanism for redemption for even the smallest infraction requires that you confess to a priest and then receive punishment for your wrongs.

Even to this day, I can recite some things from mass from heart. This passage is a good example of how we are hardwired.

"We confess to you O God, and to our brothers and sisters, that we have sinned through our own fault, in our thoughts and in our words, in what we have done, and in what we have failed to do. We are truly sorry and humbly repent."

Please note, I do not mean to come across as anti Catholic in this entry. To each their own when it comes to matters of faith; I concluded years ago that it was not my path.

Tornado or severe thunderstorm has hit the Atlanta area. Wind, hail, rain have damaged the Georgia Dome where my stepfather is currently waiting to watch the SEC basketball tournament. They've evacuated to a near by building but have once again sent people back to the Georgia dome. There is a hole in the wall, the roof swayed due to the severe weather.

I'm scared because all I know is what I can gather on the news and I cannot contact my step dad. The news audio is in the background and in about another hour it will be hit with another strong cell. More lightning, hail, and potential tornados.

They don't want to send people home from the Georgia dome due to the concern of travelers being stuck in traffic when the next ban hits.

At this stage the SEC hasn't decided whether or not to delay the UK basketball game. From the news people- it seems that it would be insane to play when there is an open area of the dome.

All the descriptions I have heard is that the storms sound like a roaring train. There is glass everywhere due to windows being blown out of buildings in the downtown area.

My thoughts are scattered... I hope he and everyone else are ok.

At this point, I've heard that my step dad is ok. He claims that there are 3 holes in the dome and that a tornado did go over the building. Not sure if the next big cell will have another tornado or if the Georgia Dome will undergo any more damage.
