We live in a fierce, vivacious society here in Vampire Rave. If there were any humans here they would not be alive for too long.

There are lifestylers, cults and the real ones who are nothing like Hollywood and don't go out of their way to announce it and don't always wear black and the like which is more to the Goth end of things. Some of them are but many are not and don't want to be associated with the culture. Some are involved for the scene, the courts and clubs, etc. Others are serious and try to help with Havens and those in need of direction. If you are not one or have never come in contact with any of this you will either be a skeptic or just unknowledgeable. There are sects within the culture as well so there are many beliefs about it. It's not a cookie cutter idea. Its always been around and perhaps by other names as language is a barrier sometimes to recognition. Certain movements have given it a more glam and dress up persona to it so its hard for those who don't believe to take seriously. Quite frankly I think the older people would rather it stay that way, in the realm of disbelief and by the way...we are all humans, that is only used occasionally by those silly people who want to try and put themselves above others because most use mundane and things like that...human is an oxymoron.

This is too open-ended a question. From which perspective to you expect to derive an answer? Those under the impression they are vampires, those that accept they are not but pretend, the straight-up non believer or the thrill-seeking part goer living distinctly for the moment?

Of these, how many have anything to do with psy-vamps, since that is a different "label" of vamp altogether?

Im just trying to understand where you are going with this.

If I was a lackey for a vampire, or a Society Mediator I would use the fascination people have with vampires to lure them into a cover Society and then recruit from among them only.As a mediator for kindred I would sway between the tenants of the Masquerade.

personally how i see vampyres is there are three genres' sang's,psi's and fashion vampyres..sadly enough more and more fashion vampires are giving the sangs and psi's a bad reputation of being unreal which is a shame in this day and age since both sangs and psi's have a very important role in modern day vampirism.

some Vampires would have you think they are the pillar example of vampires and they may actually have those that support their ego.So who is to say that the lowly clans are not just as much vampires.I thing the poor nosferatu deserve a hug... because they cannot charm victims to them like say the Ventru, or Thoreadors.

That’s Hollywood.
Each to his own.
I am a vampire.
It could happen.
Vampyres don’t exist.
But that’s just my opinion.
My two cents.
I will say no more on this subject.

My convictions will stand side by side with Mollidew's posting...

As for what ~Dabbler~ has been stating about the so called "masquerade", once again, this would be ROLEPLAY...Not to be taken seriously. Those of whom take the WhiteWolf game seriously need psychological help. They may not have had enough encouragement from their parents.

It is a very open ended question, and seems to be brought on by a youngster wanting to get into the scene itself, but has no clue about where to begin. Oh the fishers of social information.

Do yourself a favor and interview a couple of the ravers from the clubs and see what you can dig up...Pun intended.

(No offense to any members on the Rave, as this is a mere discussion and not to be taken seriously.)

*Chuckles at the seductive bit*

I am not saying that vampires do not exist, just the masquerade being a bit burned out as well as over-rated, and out dated.

You want a story of experiance, how about this...

Walking into a night club with somber techno music playing in the background, figures dancing in the dark in a very slow gypsy like manner, dancing to the beat as well as to one another, you stand in the middle of this tiny crowd and get the sensation that you are enveloped in this energy they seem to be distributing through one another. Also known as "thaumaturgy". Happens all the time. Try it, you might like it.

..believe it not, I got angry when I read this: bit like the fellow who a year ago, persisted asking me and several others, 'Are you a vampire? then got insulting, when they didn't hear what they wanted.
..I agree with a fewe resopondants, who said the question was too open-ended.
..are you talking-role-player, lifestylers, or psi-vamp, or Goths, or..?
..see what I mean. Just too open.

If you clarify your question, I'm sure you'll get a lot more specific answers. People, especially here, are generally glad to give their thoughts on topics, but they have to have a clear-cut idea of what the topic IS and in what manner the question should be addressed.

There was a time in my youth when my mother and I would drive on a long, wooded road. We thought there was kind of an interesting air about the place, and perhaps it was a vampire. We called the energy, whatever it was, "Syd".

Interestingly enough, there came a time when this energy seemed to leave the area, and we immediately started seeing roadkill along this road that never before had roadkill. It could have been some coincidence, but either way it's a cool story.

We weren't technically "victims", but we still noticed a significant difference about the area.

Im sure there are quite a few on VR that have either encountered a Living Vampyre and experienced being "fed from" or are a Living Vampyre and have been the one doing the "feeding" But as it is mostly something that isnt talked about on an open discussion, you probably wont get many straightforward answers. Well thats just my opinion...
If this is for your personal edification because of curiosity into the Vampyre community then I suggest as stated before you aproach someone on an individual level and you might get a little farther.
Its not what you ask, its how you ask.

On many occassions in the night I have heard all sound leave the room and a sickening calm darkness fill the room. Laying there I can feel the likes of something crawling up my body, paralized by the ringing in my ears and the pressure on my chest unable to move, just laying there wanting to cry out, to fight and pull away. And yet unable to do so even when you can't force your eyes open knowing something is looking you in the eyes and you want to know what it is, perhaps some type of energy vampyre.

others seem to describe on this thread about sleep paralysis which is ... well a lot of adjectives ending with "-ble" and there is help for them. i am not envious of them but thats not to say that im not here for them.

Lol Marajade, *hides her neck*

Anyway 'real' vampires, the never ending question, what is a real vampire, is there any objective answer?

I have met people who told me they have a fetish for blood, or are addicted to blood and have to drink it everyday or have to get energy from others because that's how they get theirs, if those qualities make someone a vampire then those are the only expiriences I have had.

I love it when people get so technical they act like they don't understand what someone is asking...yet I don't have that problem at all. It's real simple. He's asking people what YOUR EXPERIENCES ARE when you go to a club or social gathering what you guys are feeling or what you guys have experienced when vampires that are around, feed or whatever vampires do, in that kind of atmosphere. See was it really that hard?
