So the Myan calender says that we are to die this year in December. Some say that it is not possible and that they are inaccurate, while others truely believe that this is going to happen based on different things and events that are occuring today. How do you feel about this and what are your opinions?
I Think The World Could End Tomorrow So Live Your Life To The Best Of What Makes You Happy So At The End There Is No What If. . . . . . . Most People Think It Will Have Something To Do With Illuminati Or The Top 1% And The New World Order Or Some Shit I Say Why Worrie All It Will Do Is Kill You Faster
I think you might want to actually look at what is being sad. The Mayan calender says NOTHING about the end of the world and it says nothing about everyone dying.
It is simply the end of one age and the start of another. Now some say that these "ends" are marked with destruction etc but there's no real evidence of it and the people who know the most about it, for the majority, don't think anything at all will happen.
Step out of the X Files and look around to reality.
What he says...mother earth will continue but our part is in question.
18 years, I think...mmm have to look up the stats, anyway, yawns, that little rock is Not by chance?
Funny fact the Mayan calender didn't take daylight savings into account it has already ended.
There are several theories around about whether the Mayan calender is accurate or whether way too many factors now sway the modern calender. Factors such as Daylight Savings Time and also leap year suggest that the modern calender could be up to several months ahead of the Mayan calender, thus the new age has already begun.
My own opinion is that if 2012 is really end then I plan to make the most of the life I have left. I'd say Y.O.L.O but then I would have to beat myself with a frying pan. Gotta love memes.

Don't fret, it is just the long warm up, plenty of time to ponder anarchy.
This very topic came up in a similar thread...
"End of the world theories."
As I stated in that thread I will restate again here, specifically the part regarding the end of the Mayan Calender a bit... for those that aren't aware it's has not ended yet, that is more internet gibberish!!
What people are referring to the Julian calendar which was named after Cesar... but the calendar we use today is the Gregorian calendar. It was instituted by Pope Gregory XIII, Again named after whom the calendar was conceived, and instituted by decree on 24 February 1582.
This Calendar is the one that makes all 4 year intervals a leap year. This process was done to correct the flaws in the Julian calendar which did not account for the vernal equinoxes... of which with out an accurate prediction of Easter Sunday would be impossible.
The Gregorian calendar made each year 365.25 placing it in correct time now verifiable through our current atomic clocks.
The part that should be noted is that the atomic clock gives us a 365.20 day cycle and the Mayan calender was 365.24 day cycle. Since scientists admit there is a error value of .05 on the atomic clock they still aren't sure which calender system is more accurate. Either way the end of the Mayan counts system as we know it is in sync with our current system and ends on the winter solstice... 12/21/2012
Based on star charting, prophesied that December 21, 2012, would be the end of the world or the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle and another new age will come.. but in my opinion Mayan are nothing more than speculative extrapolations, they were not even able to predict their own cultural extinction..
Mayans who were great astronomers could've developed a system like the leap year. They also had only 8 months so...
And if they only had a 8 month year the world should have ended in the year 2000, or around that time.
I like Xzaviers point it really doesn't say we all are going to die. Hollywoods version of total destruction. Yet a posssible new era is to start or the calendar may just once agian start over. who knows
Most people hear the word calendar and they think about our calendar because that's what they know. A specific start within a specific month every year counting down to a specific ending.
This how ever is not an accurate reflection of the Mayan system of time. In order to understand the Mayan calendar system you need to understand that they studied the stars and the moon in a way that allowed them to count the phases of the moon and the sun, recording the time the Sun would rise and set every day. The combination of this tracking of solar and lunar cycles allowed them to predict these cycles far into the future.
They saw time as cogged wheels, where by the lunar wheel would turn in conjunction with the solar wheel. Just as the Earth and our solar system spins within our galaxy, the galaxy it's self spins, every thing was a cycle, a phase... and they understood this.
The end date of the Mayan calendar 12/21/2012 has nothing to do with the marching of time as we know it today and the date we apply to it has no baring on it either. The phase for which they decided to end their calendar on was the end of a cycle, one that is a galactic alignment of the Sun, the Earth, and the center of our galaxy. This event is specific and has nothing to do with our system of telling time... all the leap years and internet blogs in the world are all irrelevant to this fact.
December 21, 2012 is the end of the Mayan calendar, no questions about it!!
As for the end of the world and the Mayan calendar... again seen threw their eyes, time was a cycle. 2012 is simply the point at which the cycle ends and was no more significant than a clock returning to midnight. If that is how they saw it then why should we get all worried about an end of time event??
The mayan calendar has to end SOME TIME, doesn't mean it's the end of the world. As for the Nostradamus predictions, it's probably another small catastrophe that will be blown out of proportion like 9/11. It was a tragedy but they are still talking about it.
A good calender doesn't end, that's the point. They're cyclical..duh. The Mayan calender doesn't end it just goes around and around with new ages added.
i think something catastrophic will happen, but i really don't think it will be the end.. don't you think?
The end of days for the Human race...and then, we take over, the Vampires domain...LOL. No!!!..it is not true. the world will not end. There is absolutely no prof what so ever about these so called event.
yah, maybe there something catastrophic will happen, especially now a days. or a war perhaps.
My perspective on this was said by Xavier. Who so eloquently stated " It is simply the end of one age and the start of another. Now some say that these "ends" are marked with destruction etc but there's no real evidence of it "
For me ,it doesnt matter. There are so many things that could happen between now and Dec.,ANY one of them which could easily wipe us out.It is good to always be prepared, but I dont believe I will spend the rest of this year fretting about it.If it happens,it happens. The best thing for me would be getting through it all(disasters and such) without turning into a monster. In other words, without loosing compassion for my fellow man.
I honestly dont think this will happen. Not enough natural disasters have happened to make it happen. If it happens oh well im ready to go out. It would be my luck cause life just started to get better lol Anyway we shall see fi does or not and I believe the Mayans were wiped out for reason legend has it they were not very nice people. So maybe thats why they say it would end cause they ended before they finished the calender thats all it is!
what about war? don't you think World war III is coming?
I believe it is a good probability WW3 will happen..at least, at one point.
An object from space will hit us like it has many times before and then poof. No more humans. It may happen trw. or 1000 yrs fom now but.... it will eventually !
Our day and time could be tommarrow, thus, our end of days. It is my belief and therefore assertion that the Mayan's prediction was of a "great change" in the world and the life we knew would not exist as it had before. The change is coming and we cannot stop it.
well the world could end tomorrow but i know for a fact that the closer the predicted day come the closer we are to chaos
People always think the world is gonna end. People in 1800s thought it would end in 1900. People in 1900 thought that there would be a huge technology meltdown in 2000. *looks around at the tumbleweeds blowing*. Seems like everything is still here. There is gonna be no "end of the world".
So do you think that this is just to cause chaos and mayhem?
Oh for gods sake stop worrying, its going really well at the moment. The corrupt Uk has been exposed, 1/3 rd have resigned the rest are on the ropes. Brooks is going to Gaol, hoist on her own petard, Murdochs retreating back to Auzy, his witch is scared to death, Benladin and his motley crew are disintegrated, the corrupt bankers and "the great white voldemort" is exposed...the Chinese are being more reasonable as are the Iranians. The Syrians are thinking twice.
Fox and Oreilly are now exposed as richmens whores...its going Great Guys...which is lucky coz those rumbles were not by chance.
Not 100% sure what will occur. Suppose that will have to remain to be seen.
The most logical threats to me facing life as we know it would be solar flares, most people are dependent on technologies , loss of such conveniences in itself could reek much havoc over all in the way if people surviving. Chaos would insue to be sure.
For instance one sees how a "burp" in the weather, such as Katrina raised so much hell. NOT to be taken lightly by those in it's path to be sure , nor am I down playing its sincerity but by refering to it as a " burp", I am referring to the idea that something truely catastrophic would inevitabley dwarf such an event. Where as personal survival would be up to the individual, or tight groups who are prepared....if possible.
Disasters of varying degrees have been occuring for hundreds of millions of years, the only difference now is humans are here and mostly in the way of whatever happens , building civilizations in the way of nature. Nothing magical nor supernatural about it.
The world has already ended...countless times, and we have survived it. Carry on.
When has the world ended?
The "world" as in planet Earth has never ended and will not end for billions of years. Life however on the planet will end within a billion years.
Most species on Earth survive 2-10 million years before becoming extinct, either by being destroyed or because they evolved into something else.
Modern humans have been around a short 300,000 years or so and there has not been an "end" in that time. The only thing that will end humanity other than ourselves is a massive natural disaster and I can promise you it will have nothing to do with some movement of the stars, alignment, or any universal "force". To think it can be is to ignore history, physics and to delude yourself.
Those who set dates, and pitch scenerios are all in it for cash, all one has to do is look at what is published, if anyone seriously researched something (rather than fabricate it) it would be a science journal, and it would be available for peer review. Most of the Dooom sayers are washed up Tabloid writers, there's yiour first clue, all they want people to do uis fortify their hysteria for them, the more unrest they cause the better they feel about themselves. and the more books they sale.
I should have emphasized the words "has ended". My comment was facetious, in regards to the many "end-of-days" predictions that have come and gone. Carry on.
damn thats a tough one...but in my opion...the worlds not gonna come to an end....its gonna shed its old self and transform into somethin different...shifting to another time or rules of physics or spriritual its gona affect us...the ones that hav aakened will have a better advantage and the others drunk ...the seals in the bible r gonnna start breakin and its more metaphor and it can hav many interpitations...i think the harlot and the beast will b comin sooon antichrist will be the messiah and the harlot is the return of the goddess...lucifer is promethus etc and jesus..osiris horus etc..but ya (...) its how u look at it..spirit mind body spirit soul body osiris horus isis..the divine ones will not let us end that easily or we will b ready...
if you have read the book of genesis, there's a huge similarities believed in a Creator, a first man made from the earth, a great flood sent to destroy mankind because of wickedness... 2012 will undoubtedly be another year of great change. example maybe another 55,000,000 more people will pass from life to death, from time, into eternity. Where those people will spend eternity will depend on whether they had a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
You go to hell for the company heaven for the weather. I could see a post-apocalyptic world being a lot of fun, the question everyone who thinks the end of this year is destruction should be "How are you going to survive it?"
Most people don't believe in 2012 prophecy any way.
As proof I submit that we are about 6 and a half months away from December 21st... if people truely believed that the world was going to end in the next 6 months there would be signs of it every where!!
People would be quiting their jobs, maxing out their credit cards, ext.
You don't see any of that going on.
I agree with Xzavier on the new age comment. I think that the world as we know it is going to change. I think New World Order is going to go into affect around that time. The reason so many ppl are going crazy over this is because several predictions of the Mayans have come true before.
I think the mayans simply ran out of stone to carve calender with. The mayans don't know when the world will end.
Its just a theroy. I could predicted that I win lotto this weekend. And belive me I won't. Lol for one. I didn't buy a ticket. But back to the world ending. Works on the same sort of thing. U have to be in it to win it. So for the world to end. If everyone believed it was and everyone went crazy yeah then world as we knew it would end. There would be riots citys getting burnt down killings ect. . Coz everyone would be running around thinking they were all gonna die. I don't think it would end as they say. Just the way we know it maybe. That's if everyone jumps on the banwagon.
the universe is a dangerous place which could end our days very quickly... do i think that the mayans predicted it? or any other race no, regardless of the math inaccuracies. Only people that are gonna know of our impending doom are Astronomers and Meteorologists.
is it possible that the end of the world is just the world as we have come to know it, in terms of the current HEDGEMONY (see below) and its MANipulation of both modern FISCAL reality (using the term loosely) and the geo-political construct?
Hedgemony = aggression or expansionism by large nations in an effort to achieve world domination.
i feel that it is foolhardy to not attempt to see the syncyronistic aspects apparent it the geo-ECONO-POLITICO-construct...but maybe im just fishing...
what is your life worth per hour?...just askin'
Albert Einstein reckoned
a: man should look for what is and NOT what he thinks should be...
b: As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain, and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.
c: All that is valuable in human society depends upon the opportunity for development accorded the individual.
and d: Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.
what i find personally worrisome is that math via finance has been used to define our existence to the piont, in my opinion, whereby we are bearly able to define the world in which we 'Live' without once making refference to "cost or price or value"
what is living actually?
not really related but i thought it interesting...
HEDGE is an investment position intended to offset potential losses that may be incurred by a companion investment. In simple language.
MONY

Oh where to start? So many different theories on how and when we shall parish.
My fiance believes it will be the zombie apocalyps ( which in miami it seems true,) i believe we are hybrids from aliens. That is why so many times the earth has went through disasters. They still have not gotten it right so they need to make room for the next hybrids.
There is the theory of "God" and the bible ( which to me is jibberish.)
And last but not least a global disaster whether that be meteor's or valcano's.
Everyone has their own oppinion but, nobody truly will know till it happens.
Well, I am caught in between of believing and not believing. One reason why I do not believe it is going to happen is because, they talk about destruction and tornado's, and earthquakes. Well look around you freaking scientist and whatever else you are! Destruction is happening in our world today, so I don't think they'd all clash together like super villains and kill us.
The second reason why I do not believe it is because.. well, depending on what you believe on for this is, god would not want destruction of his Earth, it was made so we could live life, he DIED for us on the cross, for our sins, so we could live longer lives and all, but look what we've done.. Satan has influenced most of us, there are terrorists, criminals, and lower ranks of that, while others actually do good. I believe criminals sometimes don't choose the path in a way, most times they are lead into it just by destruction of their family and what not. I believe really only in the bible one, where god comes back and takes all the good people to heaven, leaving the bad ones to suffer.
Serverus people are spending fortunes on bunkers, and foood preps.
there is a theory that every 250 thousand years or so the planet changes it axis...that would be amazing to experience, and quite possibly fatal...ahh but what a giggle
the theories stem from city scapes we are just now, with the use of modern technology, discovering deep in the oceans...
or so i have been lead to believe...
Well, personally I would say that I hope it is a myth, because I'm too young to die! lol. There are events in the past that Nostradamus was accurate about. However, I think society is still going too strong for anything like that to happen.
Ironically man has been worrying about the end of days since the dawn of time. Thousands and thousands of people through out history have foreseen the end times and not one has ever been right, or even close to accurate.
Any catastrophic event large enough and powerful to kill of humanity as a whole is large and powerful enough to kill off everything else on the planet too. Those types of events are the kind you never see coming and can't prepare for... One second your here and the next you're not.
I'd be willing to bet there wouldn't even be enough time to say "I told you so."
At first i didnt believe that the end days were near but sinse it became 2012 theres been these bath salt incedents and paranormal tension. so i believe that the end days are very near.
I personally don't think that anything spectacularly bad in going to happen. As plenty of others have stated the Mayans did not say that the world in going to end in Dec 2012, it's mearly the end of one cosmic cycle and the start of another.
How many times have we throught some kind of apocalypse was on the way. First it was the Y2K bug, now its the Mayans, next it will be yellowstone erupting or WW3. The point is there will always be something on the horizon. Everybody dies sooner or later so stop worrying about it and get out there and live while you can.
About the Mayan calender - I think it's the perfect reason why people should stop looking up and start looking around. Big deal if you know when the world ends, it's not going to stop bad things from happening in the world we live in now. (Not that all of it could be put to an end, but we have the ability to do something about -that- at least)
About the end of the world itself. - I've accepted the fact that I'm going to die eventually. And I've come to terms with it. If it does end on that date, I think I'll feel cheated because I still don't know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop. Or if Twinkies really do have a shelf life.
Actually new evidence has been found in reguards to the mayan timeline its been extended due to a discovery not so long ago putting the calander into 3026-ish but again its all about what you tend to believe...disapointing to hear a man of supposed science tell a vr member to get out of the xfiles when at one time in history people thought the earth was flat, and if you told someone in the early 1900's one day a man will walk on the moon they would have laughed at you...open minds achieve and closed ones work in washington for the G.O.P LOL...you get the idea.
Honestly why would we be busy wondering if the world is really going to end anyone of us could die tomorrow then it really wouldn't matter anyway because you would already be dead! so I would stop thinking about the future of the world and start thinking about my own personal future and what I want to do with my own life and enjoy the present
yesterday is history tomorrow's a mystery and today's a gift that's why they call it the present life is too short and it's a shame that for that concept to really hit someone they have to loose someone close but that's how it is I guess
-TheWhiteRabbit
I'm not sure if it will end this year or not. My instincts scream no though.
2012 being the end of world is total bs. It drives me crazy thats all I gotta say
i think a more relevant thread would be
if the mayan prophecy is true
what you gunna do this year??
