I would like to know:
How many of you follow the Wiccan path? Do you believe? What is the difference between "Pagan" and "Wicca"?
Blessed Be All. = )
It would be ncie if you could perhaps tell those who aren't wiccan a bit more about it... maybe the parts that are most important to you. It would be nice to hear your views.
Hmmm I follow a few of them... Tis why Me and two others have begun to form another religion based on those beliefs...
But yeah I follow the 3-10 fold law, and others that I don't remember the names for... oh and no their is no difference between wicca and pagan (other than the use of the craft)
Wicca is a branch of paganism
More rules or atleast set down rules
Paganism is the generic term like a Chirstain
compared to Wicca and Catholic or baptist
get it?
i don't follow any religon, but i am an open person and am currently reading about as many religons and faiths as possible including wicca...
For me I see faith in something as good as long as people keep such to themselves.
Religion is another matter. Rules that have to be accepted on faith rather then your own.
So for me wicca is not an option.
Some cross overs to my beliefs but more hinderances.
If it works for you great
If it doesnt always keep your mind open
You will know when you have been Called....
I followed the wiccan path for a while but I eventually drifted away from it. I know a lot of people still on it and I think it helped me become who I am.
Isn't this like a religious issue. Cuz I tried to do one and got yelled at. Anywho. Some of my practice comes from the Pre-Fluff bunny practices. But that's about it
took the words right out of my mouth. when ya talk about christianity you get told NO don't post, but why should Wicca be any different? It isn't. Time to kill it!
Agree this is against forum rules i believe but to answer your question i follow the path have been doing so since i was twelve.
I was born into it. My grandmother taught me a lot. Born and raised in Salem Ma, it is natural of a choice. For years all of my friends followed the same path, so to meet people that didn't know was sort of wierd.
We have already done this thread and it answered every question you would possibly have.
To say again for you though, I am Celtic Wiccan.
Dark Blessings
i follow the wiccan path...
i speak wicca and write it to....which many don't....i have come to find out
I dont really follow any path, I believe that the levitacal laws are the way we should live, but like god said I and everyone else, we're all inherintly evil, so I cant follow any laws or paths.
I have never heard of the language "wicca" before in my life. Where is the origin of the language? There has to be a region from where the language comes from. "Speak it or even write it."
This is new to me.
well even though this thread is against the forum rules, i can tell you i have followed the wicca path since i was eleven. wicca, is one branch of pagansim, there are a few. satanists are considered pagan among a few others
k this thread is not against forum rules.....
christianity is but not for reasons of religious rights...it was put under ban because people were getting petty and insulting in the forums hav ing to do with it...
yes there is a large difference between wicca and paganism....
wicca is a very structured following of the goddes in her various aspects and her consort.....
paganism is a blanket term more closely associated with other types of occult practice such as druidism and shamanism...also followers of the old celtic gods and the Asetru......
I am closer to a shamans path in my following and beleifs in that i feel the world is but a dream and is truly shaped by the power of the beleifs of those who live here....
eeeeee.... if you have faith in god that's all that matters, it doesn't matter facts about a religion, or at least that's my point of view.. BELIEF!!!
hmm doesnt seem logical to ban christianity and not wicca. It's both the same lines of beliefs. I think it should be ok to discuss as long as people can keep it cool with their responses.
I was raised in a roman-chatolic family.I was forced to go to mass every Sunday etc...Because of this my parents never left me free to do my decisions.Never allowed me to do what I felt was right for me and made me happy. So I hated the religion.I used to practice wicca and got in a lot of trouble with parents. Now I practice no religion but have my own beliefs, respect all religions and cultures, and I feel much better like this.
I don't think anyone should follow a religion or rules to live a better life. But again this is my opinion.Anyways continue with your beleifs if you weren't forced like me,and if that makes you happy.
I really enjoyed praticing wicca but I don't feel it is for me or maybe am just not ready for it.
I as brouhgt up to be a christian yet I follow the wicca path. I believe in the "if thou hurts non do what thou wilt" subject.
But I find that to talk about it or even write it can cause trouble where I am.
ye even here.My country is catholic and practicing other religions is probihited. How stupid it is!
Theres some quite interesting informaiton here... thanks Daermon for putting htings in a way which can help me to understand a bit better.
Hmmm....well i know a few people who claim to be Wiccan. But i dont know enough about it to say anything. So i shall read up on it =). As for the whole not being allowed to post anything concerning Christianity, erm...i agree, thats not really fair. As long as people dont freak out on other people for their religious choices, you should be able to post about it. =)
I'm with you AmaTerusa, i too don't know enough to really voice an opinion. was wondering if anyone knew a really good website
maybe...
a site that starts by assuming a person knows nothing...
Paths are all the same. it's about one finding the closest thing they believe or "fit into". Personally i don't feel anybody has to fit into any one kind of belief because in the end they all link somehow.
i have no real belief anymore in any religion at this time i follow my own path.but may understanding of wicca is to honor nature and its powers
i do follow the wiccan path...as a solitary
practitioner.....simply because its hard to
find a coven in my area....and pagan means a liter wiccan way....wicca means...
is just a good word for witch......most rather be called wiccan...then witch...I...
it don't matter....
Anyone can be a "witch" if they want to define themselves as such. Basically it's a person who learns how to use their mental skills to do various things, which comes with practice of course. If someone wants to label me witch, so be it. I don't call myself anything personally. :)
We all follow rules some our own and some of others we are what we are and other people label us for that ..Wiccan is pegan according to the church and was started by the church if you research it that is what you will find....
I am not sure the actual term for what I am. I believe in Celtic Lore, and Dragons. I practice Tarot, Candle spells, and anything but Black Magic. I found out the hard way that Black Magic is not one of my strongest suits.
i dont... sorry to say it Just doesent matter in the End...you stop Existing...
I used to be a Wiccan and in some retrospect I still am to an extent I remember all that I learned but do not follow any of the rules of the Wiccan religion I follow my own rules
Even though i am wicca, i am not a strict wicca i pray when i can do rituals when i can get the stuff.
you are still a firm believer of the religion and it will do nothing for you doing so please believe me I am happier now I follow my own rules than I ever was following the Wiccan rules
actually he is not wrong to follow wicca...any more than anyone else is for whatever they follow.....
and yes it is rather unfair for there to be a stricture on christianity....but the point is that the free expression was being abused....so therefore it is now a taboo.....we did that.....as in the people using the forums...not naming anyone in particular.....we the users did that....cancer is just trying to keep things workable here and I think doing a fine job...I don't always agree with him...but I respect his decisions.....and I agree that pewople were proving repeatedly they could not self moderate the christian topics......
Does anybody know if wiccan outdates druides? And from my understanding wiccan is a path that most females follow? I have seen a book of wiccan for men as well though?
I follow some of the wiccan ways. I do believe in many things othen then what the wiccan ways are. I do practice solitary. I have different views on something or beliefs that I feel comfortable in. I follow my own wiccan way. Kinda like my own religion. hehe
Wicca as a "codified" religion is actually quite recent. However, the term is quite old. It originally was applied to a wise woman within the village who cured and healed the wounded and sick. Druidism is old, but has different tenets and so it is not quite fair to lump all druidic customs under one category. Druidism itself stems from a shamanic origin although I'm not quite certain of the "changeover."
very close kiros....
actually the term wicca is commonly used inproperly....what you described is a wicce
a wicca is the male version of the same....
but as a codified religion it is less than 200 years old....a laying down and collecting of many older ideas and paths into a followable religion...
druidry goes back so far into antiquity that they really do not know it's beginnings
I stand corrected. Please forgive me, and thank you for the clarification.
Witches please! Too much polite instruction and information. Address me as a lover, not in the language of marketing: stir me where my heart lives; celebrate with me the full-blooded life of Wiccan, the spontaneous zest for living, the stir and color and warmth, the strangeness and beauty - how good is a Wiccan's life the mere living.
Entertain me! I read enough shapeless sludge like Wicca and Witchcraft. (Even my --ing word processor thinks that article is written in the language of a cult).
I have found that many people, not all, who refer to themselves as Wicca are really either witches who are uncomfortable with the word or people who use Wicca for lack of a better term for their personal belief system. Wicca/ wicce is Not a religion. There is no dogma involved, only a way of life. 'nuf said.
with wicca, what i can tell, it is more of a structured religion with rules/laws and yes, even dogma.
most pagans that i know are more freeform and work off of other religions, even easter.
i follow it... and i love it... i don't have time to tell u the differences right now.. but i will be back.. later....
or course we celebrate easter.....like most christian holidays it's been a pagan holiday since long long before the poor carpenter kid was nailed up.....
most commomly known holidays have pagan beginnings......
I ama mix of shamanism and wiccan ways, with my background of which many know i can easily flow the two i have discovered.
i follow the path of wiccan. i also keep the morals of the christian faith that my family grew me up on.
I started following the "wiccan path" when I was nine. About 3 years ago I started to get sick of it and all it's fluff bunnies. Half of the people practicing today follow more of a Silver Ravenwolf wicca than the original beliefs. I can't stand that. So now I have reverted to my own form of magick and it works out quite well for me
i feel strongly that choosing your own path through research and finding what works for you is really the best way....
Ah yes, the wiccad witches.
"Are you a good witch...or are you a bad witch?"
yeah....witches can surely kick ass......
i surely don't want to..... kick any ones ass.... so..... too much of a good witch....lol
lol hi umm... im quite young and i love all different magik things from wikka to raising the dead(lol neva worked) yer and this is mi first post thingo so i proberly am boring u to death so ill stop now lol
good witch......bad witch..... i'm kinda preferential to a sandwich myself.......
Ihave to agree with some thing said here, But regardless how you look at Wiccan. All it is is a newer look to its original and purest form. Witchcraft. And I am in know way trying to start a war in here over this. What one person believes and practices should be just that: THEIRS!!!! Am I right or wrong?
The precepts of the relgion of Wicca is a component of my religious belief, but I would not call myself a Wiccan. I don't believe in the Goddess and the God--well as two different entities. I believe that my deity is gender-neutral. However, and this is where it can get a little complicated, my deity can wear the mask of a god and often appears in my visions as a female. In my personal opinion, gods often appear to us as what we can comprehend. The deity wants us to pay attention to the message and not be caught up with the definition of the deity. That is why I believe that all gods are one god, but wearing different masks so that we can better "tolerate" the message.
But that is just my opinion.
i haven;t met a wicca ever. i believe that they exist, but i don't have any examples of them until present day.
Well, Thank you all so much for your responce. I know it was against the rules, but I really really wanted to know...
Thanks again. It really helped me alot. I'm also a witch.
i find that wicca is more into the application of magics and rules and paganism is more driven toward nature
I am not sure what I believe in and as far as wicca goes I am interested I have read many books but still never found the time to pursue anything but yeah...
Wow wicca is flourishing throught the world. Well I am also a wiccan, but some ppl think that im a poser cuz they have diff. beliefs about it, I worship the goddess and what ever spirit needed for the proactice I preform.
Contrary to what those who choose to persecute or lie about us wish to believe, Wicca is ...
an irate pamphlet
Wiccans believe that their society is great because it is good, and obversely, they believe that any enemy of Wicca is evil incarnate; you only have to look at the self-righteous froth in the article What is Wicca to tell what is Wicca: Wicca is an outstanding example of propaganda, virtually obliterating historical substance, and the Big Lie should never be left unchallenged
Many people are trying to make Wicca a religion, to some, as i mention before it is not. This is the same story of new beliefs coming together forming a mass belief system - religion.
I only hope that it does not become a fear- based belief system like the ones in the pasts.
Lets not use the word 'Them' ,yet.
And an after thought, there are some people who will swear that Buddism is a religion (my dictionary says yes) but if you ask most Buddist, they will tell you 'it's a way of life.' The some goes for Wicca.
There is a difference.
Sorry but I don't have any kids.....
...............that i know of. ;)
technically buddhism is a theosophy.....
and miz....yes....some wiccans get a bit over zealously anti christian......but after a few hundred years of being burnt at the stake....tortured....having your lands and belongings confiscated as a heretic...and various other outrages....can you really blame them.....and on that note......have you ever actually "listened" to a sermon against paganism....it can get rather rude and antisocial when you think about it...
There is a group near me that is a "coven" and I really use the term loosely with them. To me they are more of a cult. They are on a totally different path then alot of people I know who follow the wiccan way. They believe that everything they teach is right and everyone else is wrong. Like some pesky crazy christian people I know.. lol. I have been invited to see thier "coven" numerous times. I decline seeing as when they have a chat session and can never follow one topic or even debate with knowledge on an issue. This has really turned me off to some parts of practing within a group. It also shows me two things about different "religions" ( I will use that term for lack of better one)
1. Not just people who follow only god can turn into a crazy cultish followers..
2. If you go to a " religious " gathering and they have "special" red kool-aid Don't drink it..
( lets see how many people get the last joke.. )
I liked the red kool aid.....hehehe
but yes....many covens I have encountered are intensely cultish and this is why largely I am solitary in my practices...I sometimes go to events....but rarely.....I don't feel the need....I can comune with the powers just fine all by myself....
i find solitary magik as i don't have others to say it's ok for me to use what i know....
and i can't seem to find a coven for 50 miles anyways.......not much of a chooseing here..... ^_^
i do not follow the wiccan path. and i do mot know if there is a difference. i am under educated about both of those practices.
I didn't read the responses to this, so I apologize if I repeat what others have already said.
I am a Pagan, but I follow many Wiccan traditions. The word pagan actually means anyone who's religion doesn't descend from Abraham. So basically, if you are not a Jew, a Muslim or a Christian, but you have spiritual beliefs, you are a pagan. Wicca is a specific form of witchcraft, and is a branch on the pagan tree.
my wife is wicca at frist i had a problom with it it is becuse i did not undr stand it but i see that my wife is in tio it and that she enjoys it
I used to follow Wicca. Well, I didn't practice it really, I just read up on it a lot. It interested me quite a bit...
Hey do I get new sneakers with that koolaid???
The problem with covens is the same with any group of people. Politics...It is hard to find the right people but it works quite well when you do.
i'll agree with billythejust ..... it just nice all the way around....when you got people who works well together
"I point at Oblyvia and say booga booga"
good spell that one....
hehehe
yes the internal politics is the main problem with covens....now that I can whleheartedly agree with
The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie: deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth: persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.
John F Kennedy
Wicca you are not men touched by divine destiny, but you have shamelessly falsified the historical record, and I will not let you force-fed the Wicca myth. In reality, you attract the psychologically flawed, which not so remarkable - the well adjusted, almost by definition, will be at peace with the established order.
Talk to me about pagan, but never Wicca.
please dont take offense to this...its jus my opinion.
hmm...i dont follow religion, i think most of its stupid and causes so many wars...if it wasnt for religions such as cathlic/protestant then the world would be so much happier..
but wiccan people tend to keep themselves to themselves and dont winge at everyone to follow their religion...
i kinda beleive in wicca, cause magik intrigues me, but its a bit scary!!! lol
again...i dont mean to offend other religions...its jus my opinion based on what i know.
I've been a Follower for almost two years. But its really hard because all my friends are Catholics and they turn bloodly rfed whenever I cruse out loud. Besides that, religion is always different depending on the person or generation, just look at the Mormans or Christians. Every person just needs to see that we all learn the same principals (basically). I still try to remeber the biggest rule of all
'AND HARM YE NONE, DO AS YE WILL'
miz...picking on wicca is like picking on a lutheran.....or a protestant.....it is not the religion which is at fault....but those who follow it....and this is true in ALL religions....not just wicca
I am a pagan and that is the belied in Gods/Goddesses, nature etc etc... Wicca is different but still focuses on some Paganistic beliefs. If you practice Wicca its is usually that you are a "Witch" a Pagan person can be just very interested in nature.
i follow it as much as i can with out causing problems with my catholic mother. i have a book on it that is like 2 inches thick.
i have a brother....and i do love him so....
and needless to say i haven't told him i am
wiccan....i did ask him his view on the religion of wicca.....and this is his reply.....
Hello to you, too!
Regarding Wicca (and all religions) what we need to ask first is "How do
I know?" or "Where do I find the truth?"
The subject of knowledge precedes all other subjects.
One answer, in fact, the best answer, is
The Bible alone is the Word of God.
In other words, I know something is truth because God says it is truth:
God's word is the first, final, and only authority.
So, what does the Bible say about Wicca?
Nothing directly.
The Bible does say (among other things) that Jesus is the only Way,
Truth, and Life. This excludes other ways.
Therefore, if Jesus doesn't hold an exclusive position in Wicca, then
Wicca has no truth.
The fact of the matter is that Jesus does not hold an exclusive place in
Wicca; therefore, Wicca has no Truth!
I sincerely hope you are not walking a path into this false religion!
Hope that helps, and isn't too confusing as it is hurriedly written.
Love you too! Very much, and enough to speak the truth.
nameless here....lol
