I spoke about this with Angitia earlier, she had an interesting theory...

Last night I woke with a sharp pain in one of my toes, like the feeling you get with a papercut, a slicing feeling.
It was dark, I was tired, so just went back to sleep.

This morning I find a cut on my toe, approx. 7 mm long.
There was dried blood in the wound, yet no blood on my white sheets.
Searched the bedsheets thoroughly, but found nothing that could have possibly caused it.

Anyone ever had injuries just turn up out of the blue? Or any thoughts on the cause?

Sexual deviancy related wounds not withstanding.

Well sometimes I wake up and find scratches on my arms...

yes i have and it usually happens while i sleep. its like you do summit unsubconsciously and mostly its a cut

I've had several injuries, often bruises, and some odd marks before, but this is the first time I'm aware of being cut.

I also have had several cuts and bruises,, And still do to this day wake up w/ them.

My feeling to this is,, I feel someone maybe trying to get my attention and possibly everyone elses.....Not sure who or what...

Giggles umm well I cant sleep walk i am in a wheelchair,. But hey that could be something to think about.

It definitely wasn't sleepwalking in my case, I woke very suddenley with this sharp slice, I was very aware it had just happened that second.

Yeah I have cuts on my legs and hands for no reason and I sleep rather well.. The bruises have appeared on my stomach the back of my neck , arms and hands,

I often get those mysterious wounds. There was one time while I was walking home from school when I felt this sharp pain on my left arm, and looked at it, it had a 5 inch gash on it (it had already stopped bleeding) and I had no idea how it got there. I sometimes wake up and find scratches and stuff on my legs, arms, stomach, etc. as well. There's an inch long scratch on my left hand right now and I have no idea how it got there either.

It's happened to me on several occasions. I once woke up with a small cut on my wrist, but I never dreamt of doing it. It is possible that I could have angered a spirit, but I'm unsure.

I have had many cuts that i coud not explain.

I have had cuts and bruises when I have awaken with no explanation.

I get bruises, and I later find it was definitely "someone" trying to get my attention-I sleep deeply, and they get upset cause they cant reach me..

It could be that you dropped your foot out of bed and hit a sharp edge and the recoil brought you foot back before you awoke.

maybe you had really well ironed sheets?

or, it could be a psychosomatic reaction to an astral event, but have you any previous experience of astral travel at all?

All marks I've had have almost always been very precise, very defined.

Okay, now I've had a closer look at my toe I see it's not just the skin that's been cut.
The cut is at the tip of my big toe on my left foot, about 1 cm from the end of ny toenail.
If I follow the 'path' of the cut, it continues on the nail. The end of the nail is cut, but then there's only a scratch down the length of the nail to the skin, perfectly straight, though it's at an angle slightly to the right of the nail.

Also, I notice the cut in the skin is quite deep.

Iv'e never been cut or anything in my sleep, yet somehow i tend to pull hte muscles in my cales alot, its strange.. ive had a friend stay over a few times to sort of monitor me, and she says i just sleep normally, as if nothing is really happeneing, yet still i wake up withthe same problem..

STABB- actually recently I've been practicing 'dream stalking', Angitia's been giving me pointers on that, although I haven't been overly successful, and haven't attempted it for a few weeks.

I would recommend looking into it at least at a basic level if you are going to practice astral travel...yes indeed...start now...lol

I would read into it deep like because astral travel is dangerous and you open yourself to others associated with evil, evil entities (such as demons or Satan)

Yeah, I was only just starting out , really only at the 'getting the mind relaxed' stage, but better to be safe than sorry I suppose.
That said, I haven't made any attempts in at least 3 weeks or so.

I don't have any cuts as such happening during the night but i do have scars that were not there before and i know i havn't hurt myself in these places before, some of the scars really stand out, so i either heal a hell of alot faster than i thought possible or something really weird has happened...But that cut on your toe sounds pretty bad.

I too have been woken by sharp pains either on my toes or feet and ankles, or found unexplainable bruises in places you would have HAD to notice if you hit them that hard...lol-I have gotten up in the morning to find blood on the pillow, but no discernable wound anywhere...I agree with Angi that someone or someTHING is trying to get our attention

Astral travel and sexual deviancy aside (unfortunately for the latter), I'd say a poltergeist of some sort. I hd one in a house that I used to live in as a teenager that wouldn't leave me alone. I got scratches and bruises all the time. Damn thing even shoved me into a wall once. Needless to say, I couldn't wait to move out of there. The worst part was no one in my family believed me. They all thought it was self-inflicted.

I go with the alien theory. I believe I am an abductee. My two unexplained marks are two identical "scoop type mark" on either side of my neck. They were just there one morning.

yesh actually I have.Quiet recently actually I had fell asleep on my couch watching South Park and had a dream that I got bit by a snake and woke up with two puncture wounds on my wrist.

These types of things used to happen to me alot, especially if I was having night terrors. And no, it didn't happen bcuz I was thrashing around. When I have night terrors, I'm so still, I can barely breathe...and I'm also very close to being awake, thouh I cannot seem to pull myself out of them.
I awake exhausted every morning of my life, and it has nothing to do with sex.

I have vivid dreams...I sleep deeply...I have dreams to where I *feel* everything that happens....as I said before...I wake up with marks me...that I didn't have when I went to bed.

A very strange expirience that happened to me was when once I was trying to sleep and I heard like a shhhhh sound from behind the bed.

That morning I found scrathes a bit biggert han the usual,lil bites and cuts.

That is the most unusual thing I have ever heard of. I find it highly probable that it is psychosomatic.

I think you need someone to "smudge" your house; get the evil in it out. A good spiritual "house cleaning" may be in order.

Another possibility might be that you are picking up too much unfiltered energy from others.

An energy worker that taught at the school I attended had to quit his practice because he was taking on too much from his patients. The last straw was he worked on an individual who had been betten early in the day, by the time he got home he had welts all over his body.

He never had learned to ground very well (shielding for most of you) so he had to give up his livelyhood for his own health's sake.

If this is not a possibility smudging and even some water under your bed might help... just my.02

we all do diety-but if you smack yourself hard enough to form a bruise, shouldn't you remember how you did it?

my dark sister angered a shadow in our other sister's room and woke up with a nasty bruise covering half of her face! The proceeding nights she woke with one on her chin and another on her private place... btw she was sleeping alone most of the time and she doesnt bruise easily... so i dont know... freeaaaaaaky

It has happened..I often scratch my self during sleep, and I wake up with this weird feeling that it wasen't me, but I prefer to think that it was. Sometimes I get the feeling that I was pushing something away. One curious episode: About a year or two ago, I was asleep, and I don't remeber what I was dreaming of. I know that one of my cats woke me up by biting me in my leg. Nothing strange so far, exceopt for the way she was looking at me, not mooving one inch after I woke up startled. That makes me wonder what the hell was she waking me up from.

I've woken up with cuts that i could not explain, and i've also woken up naked on my floor once, and was unable to locate the clothes i went to bed in, got no idea what was going on there.

A possible theory, and one that may have already been mentioned, but there is the liklihood that you may have slept walk and cut yourself while walking, thus by the time you got back into bed, the wound was already dry.

It was about three weeks ago, I woke up with this pain in my left side, when I went to look there was nothing wrong so I went back to sleep. When morning came, the pain was bak, this time only sharper. There was a cut about a foot long stretching from my hip to just under my right nipple, a dark scratch with dry blood was the only thing left.

Ok I can somewhat agree to that,, But as I said I cannot walk I am in wheelchair.. So how can it be explained

This mornign I awoke to find a small cut on my right middle finger. I have no idea how it got there, as I am 100% positive that it wasn't there when I went to sleep.

that is peculiar, but maybe, just maybe there is the possibility that it happened, that despite the handicap, your body had the desire to walk and maybe, this is out on a lomb here, it fulfilled that desire by unvolunterrarily walking. I have seen guys walk through a fire on a campout from sleepwalking and not remember nor have any marks whatsoever form the flames.

Why yes I have. I have waken up with scratches on my arms and/or legs, cuts, burns and I even woke up with a welt across my eye once. I figure that they came from the dreams I was having.

i once woke up w/ bite marks on my leg...and this long red line across my stomach...i seriously think something is in my closet and is trying to kill me.....or it could just be some crazy ass 'vampire' trying to scare the shit out of all of us...idk...

Many sleep time injuries are self inflicted. Rolling over in your sleep, in the wrong direction, into a nightstand for example.

Then there are the aforementioned psycosomantic injuries, from vivid dreaming. The old saw, if you dream you died, do you? I say perhaps, but we all have inborn safeties against that. . . unless you learn how to lock them out.

We also have non-corporal entities which can cause enough influence to create harm. Purposes good or bad, you'd have to ask them.

There are also the oddball psychic phenomena which can cause physical harm, but generally are no more than things like burning ears warning you of libel or slander.

Generally speaking, any wound or bruise discovered should be observed. Look for anything that may have a truely accidental cause. If you have a cut that obviously bled, but there is no blood on the sheets or anything of that nature, it should be investigated. Simple divination should give sufficient answers for you to draw an hypothesis. I view such things as a blatant attack and treat them as such until I find otherwise. If you are prone to such things I'd advise a sage smudge of your living areas, possibly some sage and rue herb bundles hung near windows and doors. Rule out external sources.

i get unexplained bruises... not your average bruise either. pretty dark and large, they show up mostly on my calves of upper thigh towards the front.

i have had scratches on a number of occatsions. but just today i had a hurt feeling like someone was putting a fish hook in by my belly botton and is pulling my backwards. i got it like three times today. its weird.

Well I have woken up with minor bruising. Once, I woke up with a black eye. I use to think that my husband was fighting in his sleep and was hitting me, but the black eye occured while he was out of town.

Some people say that you will tend to hit yourself during sleep especially in cases where you might have been fighting in your sleep. But the black eye remains a mystery to this day.

The only rational conclusion that I come up with on the black eye is I turned over in bed and hit my bedside table. But I think I would know if I would have hit the table. I do believe it would have woken me up if I had hit the table.

The minor bruising could come from the fact that sometimes I sleep walk. Or so I have been told. The black eye could have come from that too.

Who knows.

To all of you that have unexplainned pain inside your body, see a doctor. I had a bit of experience with that, and it turnned out I had a tumor which they caught soon enough to remove.

I've never woke up with cuts I can't explain. But my ex-boyfreind had cuts all over his stomac and swore they weren't there when he fell asleep, but they were when he woke up....

Of course, then I found a razorblade in the house and decided I'd had enough of that psycopath....

I dream of getting cut and wake with the cut's. I too don't sleep walk. And I have Fight or flight sydrome. So no one would dare to touch me in my sleep and if I move I'd awaken. The only answer is Astral Projection

i've astral projected once on accident my mind was so relaxed and when i closed my eyes i could see myself and got scared shitless and woke myself back up i almost fell outta my seat on the bus

Maybe its the determiation to actually hurt yourself, without having to have anything to hurt yourself with. The subconscious is a powerful tool, and sleep (as in your circumstance) is an important time for the suconscious to release its repression. I ave incurrd the same, and Im very glad you have brought it up.

I have been having odd dreams lately...and have been waking up with fingerprints and bruises on my body...so i know how that can be....i've woke up and had cuts all over my body a few times too

Sure...I've awoken with scratches down my back, sore neck, sore ribs, etc. In my case, these wounds are the results of astral attacks.

I admit, I slit my wrists every now and then to rid myself of emotional ache, but last night, was a very odd case.

I can safely say that the last time I myself cut was about 2 months ago, but last I woke up around 4 am or so, and found about 20 to 30 slashes across my abdomen and my leg. I know that I didn't do it because I haven't ever subconciously cut myself before, that and I haven't ever done any sleep walking or anything of that nature.

the family of a friend of mine built a house on "empty" land a few years ago. she had woken up with bruises, scratches, and small cuts multiple times her family was very supersticious i guess you could say and knew it wasn't caused by their daughter so they did research on their land and it turned out they built their hom near a very old cemetary...they felt they had angered a spirit. or one was trying to get something said.

maybe that was the case for you? someone/thing trying to get in touch with you....grab attention...or angered one perhaps..hard to say really

hmm, nothing quite like that happened to me. I felt like someone was cutting a rather shallow (but painful) wound across my stomach but no one could see it happening. I have however seen such odd injuries happen in animals and in one case, an animal died.

Just been reminded...I bleed from certain points if I don't ground properly after heavy energy works...lol (actually, its no laughing matter, it hurts...a lot)

When I was younger, around 13 or so, I noticed a scar on my elbow that I had no idea where it could have came from. I know I had a very vivid "dream", per se, but no physical explanation of the scar could be made.

At about the age of 16, it disappeared, nowhere to be found. At the age of 18, it reappeared, same size, shape, and location as before.

Now, at the age of 23, it's been gone for about 3 or 4 years. To this day I have no real explanation of why it was there, other than vivid memories in the far corners of my mind.

Something from a past life perhaps? Sometimes I wonder if our past was very powerful in some aspects or unforgettable. And since some memories from other lives are so buried into out subconcious perhaps it can still effect us, emotionally and physically.

...well..sometimes it happens to me..not only at nights...
