A very lovely peice of research, but I would like to highlight that it is not only vampyres that can undertake such attacks and more likely than not, based upon relative percentages, it is not a vampyre, but another awakened which does so.

A tiny clarification. The root verb for the words incubus and succubus is the verb cubare (to lie). The prefixes added to the verbs in- (in) and sub- (under) make the verbs subcubare and incubare. Given the mechanics of the sexual act, it is easy to imagine why these prefixes were used.

Now more seriously. I've felt that many times in my bed.. I've found a way to counter it.. For me it works to stay calm and push away the "preassure" I feel over me. I think the hint here is not to panic and stay calm... At first I panicked.. but after a while I've notied that the "attacks" aren't that aggressive anymore.

Either way some one asked if it would be possible to fend off a psychic vamp. I think there's a ritual in The Field Guide to Demons Fallen Angels, and Other Subversive Spirits.

There are rituals and defenses in there for just about evrything else. I'll have to check on that.

Very informative column, not many people talk about the psychic side of vampirism. I to feed off the prana of others. I try to stay away from crowds, due to the overwhelming amount of energy. I like to focus on one person at a time. Different people give off diifferent kinds of energy. Some have weak auras which you want to stay away from they will do nothing for the hunger, but those with strong thick auras will keep me filled for days.

Okay, I checked the above mentioned guide and there is no mention of psychic vampires or sucubi.
It mentions Lillith as a Sucubus and says that she may be dispelled by divrocing her and thereby stripping her of her powers. No clue on how you'd divorce her though.

one of the first posts I left here had to do with the connection between feeding and my migraines-if one might have something to do with the other- I believe that my inability to feed properly could very well cause me to feel worse, eventually to develop a migraine, but now I wonder if it is possible that being fed from by a psy vampire deliberately, or someone who simply doesn't know what they are, could also cause them...

very interesting but i would aslo like to point out that this isn't just used in movies or books. the game blood omen 2 they potray all vampires using a special ability, some psycic some not quite as psycic. but the point is that if psycics can be human why not vampire too.

well...as far as I've seen here...you have only described...chronic fatigue syndrome, or mononucleosis (the kissing dieses), panick attacks or anxiety...and well, unexplained death...is just that. As far as pregnancies from incubi...I'd like to read actual documentation on this. We all "feed" off one another. But as far as Me seeing someone have a panick attack and then say..."ooo...I'm a psy vamp and I drained them" makes me want to bow my head in shame.
here's the low-down...there is a medical and scientific explaination for all the above...including unexplained deaths...none which proving to actual psychic vampiric activity or proof.

I agree, these symtpoms can be brought on by a number of things more likely than a psi attack, though, if the were prolonged or had a pattern, then perhaps you could nail them to an individual or location.

I've actually noticed in personal experience the same principle is not limited to vampires and immortals. Certain black magic rites can actually give the same effect. For instance I had someone who claimed to be a "friend" leech off my energy for months without my knowledge. So the phenomenon does exist in one for or another.

this forum was very informative, i only subcontiously knew there were psy vamps but it never came to mind until i read this forum. lots of things i didn't know were shown by not just the creator but also everyone that has posted

There is another explanation for this... first I shall quote from the above.

Lucios mentioned anxiety attacks and other maladies.... Yes, anxiety attacks do have powerful symptoms: I have experienced anxiety attacks. I have also experienced... other things that had similarities, but that I knew were ~not~ anxiety attacks! Psy-vamps are very real entities, despite all the non-believers!

but simply because you have the similar symptoms of a known disease...does not mean you have that disease..
I try also to remain a skeptic....but I do leave myself open to the possibility that
there is something to the supernatural...
as my own shrink confirmed to me when I asked him....he can put a scientific label to any known problem....this does not mean that that label is the correct one....just that a doctor put it there....so people are more likely to believe thats the truth

I didn't see an answer to one of the above questions, perhaps I'm just reading too fast.

The question was "can you defend yourself from a psy-vamp attack?" The answer is yes. It is possible to learn how to shield yourself from attack and your dreams from outside influence.

I learned for a time, from a wonderful lady with strongly vampiric tendencies both sanguine and psy-vamping. She showed me how to shield myself from those seeking to drain my energies from a distance and how to ward my dreams from those who would seek to disturb them. I don't know if those kinds of skills can be taught over the net, but the knowledge does exist if you can find it.

Shielding from psy attack does not have to be done with magik

If you are aware of your own psychic gifts you can shield by reinforcing your natural walls...

Sceptics can do this naturaly, they dont believe therefore unless they are specifically targeted they can be fed upon in a crowd situation and are none the wiser.

Closer contact and direct attack is more difficult to repel. Ones highly awars can feel the probe and slap it back, once in a development group a lot of work is done reinforcing shielding.

There are many techniques and people use whatever they find effective, if one goes into a chat room you should always put up guards...some visualise a mirror to reflect, some a purple pyramid brought down over their head and shoulders.....placing oneself in a bubble, reinforcing auric fields night and day. It all depends on your own awareness and the situation you are in.

If you are being 'attacked' on a specific level then yes you need further help but I for one have never used 'magik'

There is much information from spiritual sites all over the net, written by people who have honed their psychic and clairvoyant gifts, whilst they may get attacked they also have the knowledge to repel them when they are aware.

I find a very strong sense of self works well....
simply a strong belief that I am the master of my own mind and no others are welcome into it...and actually saying this to myself when I feel someone making that attempt

I read a long time ago that if someone was a psychic vampire, they didn't know it, they just seemed to get everything out of life that other people around them want, and make them feel drained afterwards.. *shrug*
Anyway, I think people who go about claiming to be a 'psi vamp' are full of sh!t (no offence to anyone, but some evidence would be nice)

This was a great one. Thanks! I have been bombarded by psychic vamps my whole life. Only in the 10 years have I realized how badly they were affecting me, and what was happening, really. I have cut them out of my life and try to stay away from them. Still, when it does happen occasionally, it always makes me sick.
