Has anyone here ever looked up Satanism and done the research to find out if all the sickos out there are telling the truth? Did anyone know that in the Satanic commandments, it actually says NOT to hurt small children and non-humans (meaning animals, i.e. dogs and cats)? Now, I'm not a Satanist, but I have done the research. Just wondering if anyone else has, and what your thoughts are about the people who claim to do ritual killings because they are satanists. These people are not real satanists, just animal/children abusers with a widespread excuse.

You are not allowed to say, "I have done the research," and not even quote one source that you have researched. Did you even know that satanists have hijacked Satan's name? Value added and trademarked Satan's name with the same depleted morality as any other multinational marketing company.

i was watching a speacial on marlyn manson and they were talking about it they said that satanist dont even belive in satan. its just ideas and stuff

Topic starter ... guy ... , some satanists do kill whatever they can get their hands on . They're usually referred to as rebel satanists . The kind that look like Marilyn Manson clones with extra piercings , usually . They usually grow out of it .

LaVey Satanism is more of a lifestyle than a religion. Your comments about children and animals implies that you're talking about LaVey's book. They don't even acknowledge Satan as a being.

satanism as per lavey doesn not actually believe in satan...as to believe in satan is also to believe in god...which they don't
yes i have read the satanic bible...I also have a thing for researching criminal psychology...and in the cases I have read up on...most of those claiming to be satanists....really had no idea what the term actually means....
there are two major branches to satanism...
Lavey and his followers/off branches
and those who actually follow the red horny guy....they really don't have much of what could be construed as a formal religion or structure that i have found....some demonolatry/demonology.....a bit or ritualisation...and not much else.....
but being very secretive that may well be very wrong...this is just what i have dug up myself....

i do have some friends that are satanist. i have learned from them that they DO NOT hurt children or animals or any other type of creature on this earth. you would be amazed at how many people in very high places in the business world are satanist. if you want to learn more you can ask me you do some research on the web. everything is out there. it is up to you to weed out the garbage.

i have read some on Satanism and have been to The Church of Satan website. I find it interesting when you get past the hype of it all. I have met many posers as well and I just kinda laugh at them. Satsnism is about from my understanding is getting intouch with the beast within you.

Alex, fount of all knowledge, whose special subject is about these things, says that LeVay was a traditional satanist, despite (or inspite of) his controversial book. Alex says that the poor bastard's toes curl up in his grave, every time he is mentioned in the same breath as the Church of Satan.

I guess it could be considered true for almost every dogma/idea/religion etc, that there are a few deviant, mislead, or simply ignorant people who take something, and completely pervert it. This has definately happened with Satanism. Most Churches/orders etc, have rules specifically forbidding criminal, or harmful behaviours. You can find the laws and sins on Wikipedia under Satanism, see "Satanic philosophy". For reference, most Satanists I know follow the LeVeyan school of thought, at least in regard to the basic rules and conducts. If anyone wants some more in-depth information on how Satanism works, I am a Satanist and would be glad to help you out.

I haven't really done any research on satanism, or anything but I think people overrate it. Yes, they may be into darker things the wiccans or pagans but they are still almost human as the rest of us.

I am going to have to wait for my friend to give me some pointers for you. This is the only article I could find that point to LeVay's black magic beginnings. And the article is shallow and lopsided.

If you are more interested in black magic. One of the most acclaimed books on black magic is the novel The Devil Rides Out by Dennis Wheatley. It did for black magic what Bram Stoker's Dracula did for the vampire. Wheatley was a believer that evil powers do exist and are capable of both physical and mental havoc.

I not only have done the research , but I'm also a Satanist..You are right..We are NOT allowed to harm small children or animals. This is because to make it short and clear , God would get highly pissed about it..Yes I know what I've just said.But it is the truth. Yes we believe in God. As far as those who do killings (thats what they are!) ,they are simply lost and have NO idea which way to go.I feel sorry for them really.Most would say they are Satanist because they think it sounds cool,or to impress people,or even to form some off the wall sex cult.These people are mostly cowards who can not chose who to follow because they think by being and saying they are Satanist they will recieve rewards and be spared the fires of hell..What a joke!!! lol . But really , you expect to find out if Satan , the horned [or not] archangel [or god] really exists ? You can't even find proof your own god/goddess exists , beyond drug induced hallucinations and blind faith .
It's rather obvious that His figure , as does of all things evil , is used by psychos as an escape , but real practitioners don't 'do' evil . If you would talk to a satanist , LaVeyan or other , he will tell you he does nothing he considers wrong . And most of us know that killing babies is wrong . [Of course , there are those who think killing babies is not wrong , but that's another story ...]

well, do not ALL of us not do what "we" concider wrong...

Just to clarify, not all of us practice Satanism as a religion, and therefore, do not necessarily believe in God or the Devil.

As far as I could figure , the question was whether the psychos are right about Satan telling them to kill kids and so on .

I am a Satanist. I do not believe everything the Satanic Bible says, I believe many things...But all Satanists can speak for themselves. I don't do any kind of sacrifice, I think that's cruel, I don't do abuse. We don't worship "Satan", we don't worship anything. Some people might do sacrifices, I don't know, but none of my Satanic friends do. Different sorces say different things, but really, it's just up to the individual to do whatever he or she wishes to do, or feels comfortable doing.

I have read different books on religion, ie: bible, some books on wiccan beliefs and paganism, nordic and celtic.

The bible has satan as a fallen angel of beauty and light who challenged god to the point of anger and was banished from heaven.

Of course with the free will we all have we have chosen to follow paths that are the extremes or close to the original.

With that written, All religion is a way for people to express views of the unseen and unknown.

Does satan really exist? no idea. Are we possesed or opressed by our darker feelings and ideas? yes. Religion helps us to deal with these.

ok ive read through 99.9 % of the posts on her thus far, and can say that a lot of you have it right on the button or as close to it as you can get. there are however a few thing i would like to add.

in my opinion there are three different type of satanists. those who follow lavey, the devil worshipers (thsoe who know what they are doing and what they want practicing cerimonial magik using live sacrifices and other methods) and those who are lost not knowing anything about any form of satanism (the killers and posers and thsoe looking just for shock value).

now if you truely look into satanism they only use the term satanism for shock value, to upset the christian mainstream. with in thier little philosophy called a religion they talkabout individualism, which leaves it open for you to believe what ever you want. that is thier main plat form infact, taht is why manson was enducted into the church as a reverend, be cause of his views on individualism. thus that is his only true affiliation with satanism.

second i forgot to mention another good point aboutt he satanic bible and laveys satanism. there are many member (im sure) in cluding the late anton that practice cerimonial majik, in the satanic bible and other publications of the church they call it balck magik, but with proper research you learn that it is based highly off of the magik of the angels.

There are three kinds of Satanism.

The belief of a evil spiritual being that opposes all that is good and against God. He is everything that creates temptation to steal our soul. The background varies, but you get the idea. The church states that we as mortals must be a servant to God and others. We must stay away from all physical and earthly pleasures to keep us from this temptation. We will recieve our just awards after we past from this life and enter a heavenly kingdom. This is the reasons that directly lead LeVay to start/create the second kind of Satanism.
He reasoned that since God did create us with physical sensations/ senses, we should by divine command, enjoy them. Not after we die but during and althrough life. This is a basic belief in his church. It is not evil but just earthly pleasures. The "anti-church" stuff was just his idea of sticking it to the mother church. His warp sense of humor. The third kind of Satanism is from Hollywood. The sicko's. Need I say more on them? I don't think so. ;)

Sadly can there be truth about anything related to satan? Since satan means =calomniater=liar.... so logicly, can there be truth?

Satanism was a religion that was created because some christian converts to paganism discovered pagan didn't deal with magic or worship anything evil. So they broke off and created the relgion to feed the sterotype of so many years ago. And satanism continues to develope today. But yea, most of the satanic comandments stem from old celtic creeds.

I probably won't say anything that hasn't been threaded before me but satanism is just a personal idealogy that encompasses and is centered around yourself. You are your own "God". Not speaking in a spiritual sense but in a "I can affect my surroundings by action." The laws of inertia apply. Equal and opposite reaction. Situations can be altered to suite one's personal liking if you applied enough force of will (ie: action). This is not a quote of Anton LaVey but one of his idealogies : Praying for something to happen to a deific entity, weather good or ill, isn't going to solve anything. But a person who takes action and goes out to do something about it, to alter his surroundings if you will, might accomplish their goal. This is but one of the many theory's about satanism and my opinion happens to be pretty similiar. Till next time............

i have the satanic bible by anton lavey and the necronomicon too and they just bastically go with the idea of satan.. telling their followers to embrace their temptations and such like

I think truth is relative to the individual. A person may find what they think is the TRUTH, but that usually won't translate directly as truth for another. Therefore, every person puts a spin, an interpretation on the original proclaimed "Truth" in order to make it their own, leading to endless debate and multiple truths. I am hard pressed to believe there can be only one thing called truth.

i heard that in the church of Anton La Vei (i think thats how its spelled) that they as satanist believe that God rules heaven and Lucifer roules the earth. while they are on Earth they will worship Lucifer and when they die they will go to heaven and when there they will worship God.

Theres two areas of satanism that i know of, the kind where they slaugher animals and thers the lifestyle where we are our own personal god type...

THe original Church of Satan believed in Satan as a personification. But i did look up the "rules" of Satanism and one of the ones i noticed was DO not harm Little children and animals so all that necrophilia and sadism is just a stereotype.

The name for the religion "satanism" actually comes from the sanskrit word for "chaos" and has nothing to do with the Christian devil, Satan. Many people - including some self-proclaimed "satanists" seem to has confused Satanism, which believes not in any God but in self-governing, and Satan-worship, which is, indeed, to worship the Christian devil. This also shows the difference between Satanism and Wicca, since Wicca does have goddes and a number of other deities.

And yes, it is rather disgusting what people will do and call it their religion when really, they are just assholes.

I am not satanist by any means. I live by my own rules. I was once Christian and questioned a lot of things in the bible that no one could give me answers to. I am agnostic. But I have read up on satanism and the lady above me is right. I think what some people do just to get their sick mindshappy by hurting and sometimes most of the time killing animals and even humans. It's rediculus and extremely cruel.

I do not practice satanism because there is not enough reliable material to have a safe solid ground. however i have a friend that practices what he refers to as satanism, and to him that is the worship of himself, not as a god or diety, but as the weaver of his own destiny.

First of all There is Satnism and then there is the Church of Satan.... they are not the same.... The church of Satan is an old world believeing part of the christain faith where satanism is more of a system of many beliefs I know this because my brother was a member of the Church of Satan... and I went to a few services to see what t was about...

This is starting to sound far too much akin to religious preaching.
