If you had convinced yourself that you were going to tell someone that you practiced vampirism, how would you go about doing it? Would you tell them outright? Would you test the waters first? I am interested in opinions on this subject.
The answer you seek depends totaly on the person you are speaking of... and your relationship with that person. If you are willing to tell them this, then I would believe that you would know them well enough to know how they may react. Of course, keep in mind that a true friend will always accept you for who and what you are...

I have to agree with the previous response. It depends on your relationship with the person and how you feel they would react to each approach. I do, however, feel that with more serious things it may be best to hint at it first. Simply making a declaration can sometimes be more than their brain can handle at once. They may not believe you or thing you're joking.
Those who are close to me have known what I am through the entirety of all relations conversed betwixt. I dont regularly go around MEETING people, so the new people that I do meet have already been told, and If they dont like it, they can go f**k themselves in their necks. Most people are quite accepting, though. And those who are not just dont come around.
are we talking sanguinary or psy Vampire? if the former, then i'm afraid most people do not accept it or feel comfortable with it, no matter how much they may love you. it freaks most people out, as far as they are concerned, its a perversion, and they feel very uncomfortable about it. some fetishes can be looked upon humorously, but not ours.
It is best to break it to someone slowly, test what there answer might be. It is not something that everyone is o.k. with. I perfer not to tell anyone myself.
If I was a vampire I wouldn't tell anyone about it.
I belive that certain stuff should remain private. But if it is really necessary to tell that person I would prepare my confession and be prepared for any action and disapointment.
i think the same as some of the other responses it would depend on the relationship u had with the person
If i was going to talk to someone about htis i'd test the water first start talking about vampires then ask the person what they thought about vampirism!
I think it would be best to test them first before letting them know what you are about.
I think it would be easier for us if we knew what relation the person was to you. Who is this person you would like to tell? If they are close, they should be able to accept you for who you are. Not everything needs to be a secret. Everything that you are or do makes you YOU. Whether someone loves you for that or not, it all comes down to what make YOU happy...
all you have to do is have some guts and tell that person or being straight out and be open to them... if they dont understand then forget them they're not worth anything then but a slab of meat to be eaten..... that is my opinion....
Just to clarify the question, this is a purly hypothetical question. I have my own means of revealing myself, or choosing to keep that part of myself hidden.
Living in the buckle of the Bible belt......i tell no one.........
It would depend on the relationship I had with that person and how well I knew them before I would tell them anything as intimate as that
I would prbably test the waters, first, i wouldnt wanna scare them away, and if they look intersted about it, i would come out and say yes i am a proud vampire.
It totally depends on whether you care what that person thinks.
BLESSED BE
If I did practice vampirism, I would tell the person out right. No doddling around. If people don't like you for who you are...then why be around them?
The Black Veils Gives some good advice:
1. DISCRETION
This lifestyle is private and sacred. Respect it as such. Use discretion in who you reveal yourself to, and make certain that your motives are to truly communicate about our culture and to engender understanding. By no means should you talk to others about yourself and our community when your motives are for selfish reasons such as self-promotion, sensationalism, and attention-getting.
Do not hide from your nature, but never show it off to the those who won't understand.
9. RESPONSIBILITY
This lifestyle is not for everyone. Take care in who you choose to bring into it. Those who are mentally or emotionally unstable have no place among us. They are dangerous and unreliable and may betray us in the future. Make certain that those you choose to bring in are mature enough for this burden. Teach them control and discretion, and make certain that they respect our ways. You will be responsible for their actions, and their behavior in the community will be reflected back to you.
at the risk of being committed I would test the water and judge by the individual. Its not like you are telling someone ,You ate the last cookie.
i also agree with karnstein and I do believe this would be considered a fetish and I dont really think you can blame another for being uncomfortable if You were to just spew out a confession.
I would not tell anyone. No one needs or has the right to know, and I know that everyone thinks I'm insane as it is, and I just don't feel like telling anyone
I'd be outright and tell them. Better to do that than for them to find out another way.
It's been said before but I believe it really does depend upon whom you wish to tell. If they are very open to things that are not looked upon as normal then it will, most likely, be fairly easy to tell them. On the other hand, if a person has a closed minds on issues that are not mundane, I think it would be best to avoid telling them. However, I do still suggest caution whoever you may be telling. You don't want it to come back and cause problems later.
Depends on what type of Vampirism: Sanguinarian or Psychic.
Sanguinarians need to feed on blood, therefore when the need arise they need to feed so I think its vital to atleast advise close friends.
On the other hand, Psychics feed on energy. Anyone can feed on energy even without knowing, and its not that harmful to the body as Sanguiniarians. So i don't think there is the need to advise anyone, only if needed or to close friends.
firstly id find out theior thoughts on it. but ever time i do this ppl turn round and yes we already know about you i could hav guessed. so now im proud of what i am and i dnt really care what people think of it. so im not affrad of showing it.
but anyways firstly id find out what they thought on the matter and then find out if they would eather freak or go sopred it then decide weather i tell them or not afta but like iv sed i dont care any more so i dnt do that i jst tell people i wanna tell.
I find that everyone takes info differently. Some people can absorb info without the "freak out" other, you have to work into the how you present yourself with others. The good thig is you find out who is o your side/loves you and who is "fair weather".
I generally keep my life to myself. But I recently came forward to someone about how I live my life. I tested the water with them ever so lightly and go heavier into the discussion depending on how they reacted depended on what I told them.
If I was living the lifestyle, I'd keep it to myself. My family is already freaking think I'm heading in that direction. *sigh*
Well, do you care what that person even thinks about you? I never care what people have on their minds about me. I have a bad reputation (mostly from appearance), but I have never done wrong so this does not bother me. When people begin to know me, they are surprized that I am actually a nice person. A good girl regardless of what I am and that's all that matters to me... I don't care at all what people say, do, think, or assume. It's just being YOU...
I would do it straight out. But I am like that. Straight foward and to the point. Cause if I was telling them I would know taht they would not over react to it
i have found a mate after several months of talking and finally decided to tell her. she loved the idea of me being a psy vampire, although i don't think she understood what that meant. she is fascinated with the vampires who feed on blood and loves to be bitten, but i had to explain what a psy vampire is and how we feed. since she has an overabundant sexual appetite i get more than enough energy from her to sustain me. of course i bite her as that is what she likes, but i don't draw blood most of the time.
I believe in telling them outright.... THere is no point in beating around the bush... Besides, if they truelly care about you then they will accecpt it without complaint.
well i guess i would just be blunt and just tell them straight. if they didnt like the fact that i like goth or vampirism, oh well. thats their opion.
When I told my family, they asked me when I would "grow" Out of this. It depends on the situation and whom you are going to tell..
Definitely depends on the type of person you're admitting to. I'd probably want see their reaction to the subject in general first.
I would most likely tell them outright. If they accept you awesome, if they don't oh well.
I agree with Zevlupus...probably talk to them about the subject...and see how they react to that...And then you can go on from what you see. Its really hard for people to accept what you are even if they love you dearly. So, its best to be secretive about what you do and who you tell.
i guess for me things was easy cause my friends always knew i had a dark side and because of that i guess there wasnt much to reveal..lol
i have recently come out to my friends about my vampirism and i found that finding out if they belive or not first is a big help my g/f is actually my donor so all is going well my friends seem to be understanding
yeah i think it all dpends if u trust that person or not and if u think they willl belivee u in the first place and then if they will stil b therte for u
i agree on what everyone else said...i would probably have to know the person very well...then i would start off by slowly telling them..and if they are my true friends..the would respect w/e answer i would give them:-)
Somethings aren't meant to be out to people because they tend to shun people because of their beliefs. Not many people understand what we understand.
^^
i woul have to disagree with wat she is saying well where i live sure there are some pl that are asshole sand son't assept u fo who u are but every one that i no in this hell hole of a town is really open about shit so i tihnk ppl will understand and won't shunn any one for thier belifes not where i live tho
I guess it just depend's on what this person mean's to u if they are important to u then i would test the water but if they are onlt a friend to then just tell them out right,if they can't accept that then the choice is your's weather u want to keep them as friend's
If you truly believe you should test the waters first...
Do it or don't, the choice is yours alone.
But do consider the consequences of each decision well.
