I believe that there is. The way that I look at it, there are two types of people: light people and dark people. There are two types of energies: positive energy and negative energy. If that's the case, that means there are four possibilities: light person, positive energy; light person, negative energy; dark person, positive energy; and dark person, negative energy.

Light and dark refer to the person's life disposition. Positive and negative, of course, refer to the "attitude" (can't think of a better term at the moment) of the energies.

I think of my self as a dark positive person. I prefer the darkness to light, night to day, more gothic lifestyle, ect. ect. My energies, though, are positive. I never wish to harm anyone and I love helping others.

Hope this was easy enough to understand. It's somewhat easier to explain with visuals.

To over simplify yes.

I do not think that always these go together. I view both as something that naturally occurs, but to be dark does not mean you must be negative.

I think a person's intent is what makes them either positive or negative. Over all we choose what we want to be. We can be dark and positive, dark and neutral, dark and negative~ then there are all the combinations in between. For some it can merely be a mood or purpose of what they are doing, others it is more of an instinctual response.

I do think that we all have the potential for both, but circumstances, actions and intent then mix them all up to what we cumulate in our being.

Okay, I'll take the physical side.
Dark energy is a term used for describing a state of the universe that is yet to be analysed. It is the energy that makes the universe accelerate after a big bang, instead of slowing down as would be more logical, and it is theorised that it will continue to accelerate, towards uncertain results. As for Negative energy, it is also very theoretical. It is referred to as the rash, physical, material, or baser impulses of a human, and the positive energy the opposite, mental, analytic, and collected impulses. In some theories, Negative and Positive is the makings of all things, Chaos and Order, which must be in equilibrium.

I think SilverFae summed it up beautifully... It is a clear-cut answer that still answers the whole question... In my opinion, though, the person's intentions are the most important thing...

I believe Sevenn has said it best but again intent can change from one moment to the next defining the next set of circumstances. We are only who we are and change with every passing moment. Each new experience gives us new deifinitions, as with these experiences we learn and grow.

I believe that there is only one type of energy and it is neutral. The way energy is used by people may give it a polar sense or feeling of negative or positive depending on how it was/is used. However I feel that polar effect does not last long and any energy left in the area would return to a neutral state unless there was an intelligent presence in that area that lingers and keeps the energy charged to a specific polarity.

My two bits.

As humans, we are trapped in the world of dualistic thinking, but in reality, it is all part of the same thing.
It is just the way we choose to percieve it that makes it either/or.
But that's just my thought on it.

Hot4blood – It’s just like blacksefirot said. It’s all about perception. We humans have a need to label and define things and do so off our limited ability of perception.

I believe that energy is just energy be it physical, mental or spiritual. It is the use and perception of the person that decides if it is light/dark or positive/negative or good/bad. Perception is the only deciding factor. Just my opinion.

I've always been of the mind that only something with self awareness and the ability to think in abstract or future tense has the capacity for 'evil' or negative ends. Everything else falls under the neutrality that allows it to be used or abused...positively or negatively. I would assume that energy would be little different on this matter.

We humans define things based off function and how we perceive that function is going to impact us but that does not mean the source powering said functions are different from one another.

If energy was used to make more money in our bank accounts most people would agree that it was a positive, light, or good source of energy because the function that the energy is being used for is creating what they perceive is a positive event.

Flip that around and have the function of the energy being to take money out of a persons account and slowly drain it than it would be labeled as a negative, dark, bad, energy when it really is not. It is the same energy just used for a different function.

Same thing goes for defining Order, Law, Chaos, Neutral etc. All of these labels do not change the fact that the energy is all the same. These labels are simply used to define the function of how or why things are being done which is based on how they are being perceived.

If 10 babies where randomly killed from a cities daycare center that could be defined as a chaotic event and a bad or negative one. Now if you where to say that is was known that all those kids would eventually rise up and work together to destroy humanity than their death might be justified and perceived as a good, positive, or lawful event as it was preventing such a disastrous future.

Energy is all the same how it is used is the only defining difference and than that is defined based on how it is perceived and we all perceive things differently.

I’ll give them a shot:

Creepy = a sense of unnerving induced by a stimulus perceived to be out of place but not inducing a sense of fear. Induces more of a sense of repulsion but not one of total disgust maybe more of caution or mistrust. However the stimulus is perceived to be more known or familiar than that of one unknown or unidentifiable thus the heightened anxiety levels are controllable.

Example: a humanoid form covered in slime and plant life rising out of a swamp and laboring toward you going around trees while is moves toward you.

Spooky = a sense of fear or fright induced by a stimulus perceived to be a threat usually of the unknown where in higher levels of anxiety are induced but not controllable as in Creepy because the perception of the inducing stimulus is caused by the unknown which is more often perceived as more threatening – because most people think of things in the worse case scenarios.

Example: a ghostly silhouette of a humanoid form floating over a swamp heading toward you which is perceived to pass through trees as though it was not there.

Back to energy though and the posted question

Dark energy and negative energy.

To me negative is energy that was used for a negative function where in the user of said energy and any individuals witnessing the energy or encountering it also perceived it to function in the same manner as the original user. Basically they all shared the same mindset.

Dark energy, well ‘dark’ is a visual reference and defiantly defined based on perception.

Negative energy though could originally have been positive but do to the consequences of its use became negative.

Example: Nuclear energy can be perceived as a positive if used to power our homes but then negative if used in a bomb to kill. But the energy it self never changed on how we used it and perceived it.

Another example: If our enemy uses energy to harm us to them it was a positive but to us it’s a negative. AND Vis-Versa

I’d agree that energy can be charged to a specific polarity depending on how it’s used and its function is perceived. Similar to an isotope but that the change is only temporary at best and the core of the energy is still the same and could even be changed again or altered.

Maybe it’d be best to say energy is always changing and never a constant and that energy can be anything, dark or negative and at the same time depending on how it is used and perceived.

in my own opinion i'd have to say there is, asking that is basically the same as asking if there is a difference between black magic (dark arts) and regular magic or light magic, wich there is see even tho black magic is black, dark, not normal anotherwards negative it isn't negative magic, because even black magic has a negative too just as gun practice has a negative as to a reccochet bullet, a negative in any form of magic is the same, if not done properly so something that wasn't supposed to happen happened that would be negative magic or if your magic came back at you or didn't do what it was supposed to then it would be negative magic so yes there is a difference between Dark and negitive

I believe this is open to at least 2 kinds of interpretation, the social & the individual.
If one lives in a farming community, for instance,& a fox gets into a hen house & kills a few chickens, the farmers would see this act as a negative ^ dark thing.
However, the fox kills the chickens for food to feed itself & it's cubs.
Feeding one's family is something that all creatures (including humans) is concerned with.
We judge circumstances as either Light/Positive or Dark/Negative by how it effects us.
The notion is subjective.
However,to move closer to your question, nature has darkness in it,but the darkness is not to do with intent,it's necessity.
Nature does not have negativity in it,because I think the kind of negative/positive that you refer to is intensional.
I also agree with SilverFae in what she said & everybody who said that intension can be a deciding factor.

In terms of Dark vs. Negative, negative merely defines which end of the spectrum the energy is on, like yin and yang, good and evil, while Dark is simply the will of the person. A light person likes sunflowers, puppys, and songs about true love for example, and a dark person likes the nightlife, bats, and bands that have song lyrics revolving around more depressing topics. (Oh crap. This is what taking too many Psyche courses has done to me...nooo!)

I argued this point so many times with my boyfriend. He does not believe in good versus evil; he simply believes in positive and negative and a HUGE gray streak in between. (I call him a hippie.)

Gray streak aside, I believe there is a difference between dark and negative. They are, of course, of the same family, but what is dark may help build understanding, and what is negative is simply that; that which detracts from positive.

I think that SilverFae put it great....well written!

I also think that there are alot of supre negative people out there that hide behind darkness as an excuse for their behavior....makes something so peaceful and beautiful so misunderstood.

I do believe that there is a difference between dark and negative energy. Dark energy has a more... saddening feel to it, kind of like a dark cloud that surrounds you. Negative energy is more of a reversal of positive. Now I am not saying that either one is necessarily bad, at moments, we need both to protect us and to help us to learn.
That is my not so insightful opinion. LOL

In my oppinion they are both bad and should be watched out for but I beleive there is a difference. Dark energy can be evel and as Native people put it BAD MEDICINE. These are people you set out to harm others and conflict pain. Negative energy is somethign people can put out there and at times not even know they are doing so. Negative energy can harm you if you let it but is easier to fix.

When someone says something is posotive it means it's good. Negative is the opposite of that and means bad. When someone says something is light they can mean it's vibrant. Dark can just mean solom and dull.

Not all negative energy is evil. It could just be energy that you just aren't ready for. Or it could be a result you weren't looking for.Dark energy can be a little unpredictable but when you can control it its only bad when you use it for bad.
