I was wondering if you know about this term black swan?

Black Swan: A non-Vampyre lover or friend who does not feel the draw to become sanguine, but who is nevertheless favorably inclined towards Vampyres. They may or may not frequent vampyre nightclubs and usually understand the Vampyre-fetish lifestyle.

Im wondering who places them selves under that umbrella?

That's the first I've heard of it. I've heard the term "Baby Bat" before though.

"Draco tots" and "baby bats" but never black swans.

I have heard it before even as a kid, but I am second Gen goth so I guess I have been around the culture that long..

They called me that a lot as a kid.. I mean the adults did as I tagged along every where with my mother as a kid.. I think I saw way more then a kid should too but thats a different thread..

I used to fall under this til i learned and started working with energy.. i have always had a taste for blood though

More stereotypes to name the unrepresented. Creating fictitious names to find a place for an individual is getting annoying.

I never heard of the Black Swan but from the description it sounds like a few people I know of that do that.

Various organizations refer to the Black Swans as ones not allowed in to the inner sanctums of organizations, but are allowed "within view".

The Sanguinomicon refers to Seekers and Black Swans as mortals discretely in view the Outer Sanctum (just within the gates of The Sanguinarium.) They are not active and initiated members of the Sanguinarium.

Mortals discretely, that is a humerous term, bloody half of that social class known as the sanguin, should call themselves immortal? That to me is both pompous and absurd.

The definition of Black Swan, sounds to me as though they made up a name for those they do not find favourable in their little group...Will all the little black swans please stand up??

I think you all are right to a point in u=your own way....

People need labels to explain to one another who they are and what they like.. With out labels conversations would take for ever just to explain some thing that can be coved in one or two words.. I hate labels while they are a necessity of life..

MistrissBloodDiamonds - definatley has a point. One would have to explain so much about one's self if it were not for labels. They are a double edged sword.

I've heard it as well as "baby bat", "coffin kid" and the like. but again it's only a label for something someone somewhere along the lines of time had no clue what to call.

I can relate to the def. of a "blackswan", but if someone were to call me that they will be getting a knuckle sandwich. I can't stand when there has to be labels for every person due to their lifestyles or interests.

This def. is a great example, why would we have to define someone who takes a interest in vampirism?

Because people have always had a need for labels in the general sense..different societies and groups will have a different name for the same thing...just the way it is. Nothing to get feathers ruffled over.

I guess I could classify myself as a black swan. I feel as though I have attributes of both vamperic and lycan nature but I am neither of these things fully.

I would classify someone who lets a vampire feed from them as a black swan more than what it says above in the definition.

Here is something interesting, the opposite -

White Swan: Someone who cannot tolerate the Vampire lifestyle and proves antagonistic to the Scene. In general, White Swans are still a part of the Gothic or fetish scene, which often brings them into contact with the vampire community despite their disgust of vampirism.

There are a lot of terms used in the "Scene" the more social side of the community. Those that attend clubs, Balls, and Court functions. Black Swan is just someone that hangs out with Vampyres but isn't one and supports their activities...they may even promote them. Victor Magnus could be considered this as he promotes activities in NYC and has told me over the phone, lol...he does not believe in vampires and he is actually a debunker of psychics besides being a stage magickian. He is more over into the fetish area anyway but he mingles and is involved to a degree with the vampyre community there and their activities. This was at least seven years ago so who knows what he is saying now, lol.

Well I guess I would fall under that umbrella if I must! I am interested in vampires and have learnt a lot about them especially in the short time I have been on this site. I would hang out with them if the occasion arises, however I don't have any desire or need to become a sanguine.

I know a lady who answers to the name; Black Swan.
Among other endeavors, she runs a place called Sanctuary at Burningman. Now I'm wondering if she's involved in the local vamp community here in SF.

This is the first time I heard the term associated with vampires. I came across a metal band called Ismini and they have a song called Black Swan, I wonder if it references to the same term used here.

yeah it is I think they are just all labels to describe those people who are not vampire but are really into the culture or thought of it.

I too agree, but I think the Authors of the Black Veil, etc would like it to be much more grandiose and mysterious. Hence the term Black Swan and not Vampire Groupies.

This question is much of a publicity thing I guess, then a real question!

This term seems to be invented by a small comunity and I think this has the ise of attracting young breed to the sang thing... not a very nice idea on my opinion.
The youngsets will be attracted by the "exotic" label and they will stick to the label... they won`t be really into the vampiric stuff.
