If you are a vampire or a were you may be accquainted with the idea of the beast within. Some of you may think it as some RP belief, but I have had it since before my RPing days.

It is my belief that we all have a beast within us. And it helps mold us into who and what we are. For vampires, I believe that we have a vampiric beast in us. And for weres, I think you have a feral beast inside of you.

With this belief, I have come to understand and balance myself a lot better than I ever had.

What I want to know is, do any of you believe that this is possible? And if so why?

I think it is totally possible. Everyone be they vampire, lycan or human have a beast within. Most I think call it a dark side. I think there is duality in everyone and everything there is no light without dark no good without bad. It all depends on what it is fed.

hum ok im not a vampire but i do believe every body has a beast in all of us.. exspecially when we get upset..

Ah, the beast within...

It is always a feeling that you need to let go, but are sometimes embarassed to do so, I know this feeling quite well. Being "trueblood", I have this feeling every time I open my eyes.

But it is not quite bestial, it is more of a reverant feeling, a sort of ediquette is what it boils down to. The feeling of needing a certain demeanor at all times. This was not how I was raised.

But, it is that second wind within the individual that drives them to whatever conclusion they "need" to embrace. For the garou, it is as simple as howling at the moon, for the vamp, it is that comfy stillness the night has to offer, the sanctity of out of the way places. No fear of anything.

Yes, I know this feeling all to well.

So I finally have found yet another person who speaks about the beast within. I know that primal... essence all too well. There is a beast within us all, but the question is, do we ride it or does it ride us?

Personally no, I do not think the beast within is the same kind of 'real' you believe it to be.

It would be interesting to know what first started this belief in you ColeDashinor.

Everyone has surpressed anger and rage, this could be considered a beast trapped inside yourself. Many battle back and forth with it to keep it in, some lose and the anger comes out. That's when you here about people going on rampages and other violent sprees.

As for a vampiric or were beast inside, could be true dunno.

there is a beast within everyone, it is our nature and the basis of our existence is that beast,it is up to us to control it or to let it control us

Yes we all have a "beast" of some sort with in us, some chose to hear it, other turn and shut it away. I know I have the"beast" in me for i can fill it move and awaken when my anger and rage fill me.



And if so why?
Its human nature most would say, some would say that the way you are raised is how you get it, and other say you have it if you make a deal with the devil.
I have mine for many, many reason, I don't stun it, nor do i allow it to stay locked up in side me like most do. I don't fear what I don't know.

I guess there could be a beast within us and that is what can cause our anger to come out at points

It is very true that we all have a beast with in us. There are just those of us that seem to understand this concept more so than anyone else does. An old tradition in my family is to howl at the moon to bring good luck during the time of a full moon.. It has always worked for us and we have never been let down by it. I still do that to this day..

As stated i believe we all have a primitive nature or the beast within our selves. yet we must decide to let it out or try and control it when things come into play.

I guess we all have some kind of beast in us. Just some people let the beast take them over and control them

some people are afraid of it and wont even think about it, but we all need to let the beast out of us sometimes. it is not just fueled by anger, the beast is connected to every emotion we have and affects how we handle each one.

I'd say a real life example of someone letting the beast come out in anger would be a viking!
they were known to enter a battle full of rage!
which seemed superhuman!
their have been reports of a woman lefting a car with one hand to save her child!
she said she terrorified about the inncident!

Considering we all descended from apes, in the natural progression of things I'd say there could be a fair bit of beastly blood within us :)

I believe that there is a beast within. I used to struggle with it when I was younger. When I started getting older I began to embrace it. In my ideal life the "beast within" would have a greater part to play in my personality. As it is I'm not in the right place for that to be. Once in a while people will get a glimpse of it. It is an essential duality for everyone, I believe it's better to embrace rather than subdue it.

I believe that there is a beast within or a dark half. Everything in the universe is based on a balance of light and dark... so to me the dark within ourselves is the beast within. Many have a tendency to feel a connection with certain animals so perhaps that is the spirit of your beast within... just a thought.

I will say, I do fill a pull to let the beast with in me out, more on the full moon then on any other night.

you must release the beast once in a while, if not it will feed on all your emotions till it explodes at the wrong time.

take some time, by your self to sit down and release everything inside you, all your emotions

I do not believe in a "beast" within us as in an actual beast. But I do believe that the beast may be a side personality to you of some sorts. I am usually a very gentle person and I dislike violence quite a bit but there are times when I really want to beat the crap out of someone. Or when I want to bring misery to all I come in contact with. This is completely unlike me. So I believe that it may just be a side personality that attempts to come out every so often.

Many vampyrics speak of this and experience this but I think and let me phrase this carefully because this is just my opinion but just like anything else we are born feral. Watch children that are very young play and you see it...if they want something from another child they will just take it or bash the other over the head with something, etc.

We teach our children how to act in our society and what is right and what is wrong. It doesn't mean we have no conscience, it just means we are born a clean slate with inate personalities and we work more on our needs to feed, to deficate, to explore and are self motivated. If not taught children would continue to eat with their hands and probably wouldn't wash them often. Later they would conform because they would have to and it would be by mimic behaviors but socially I don't know. Everything else is learned. Kids they have found in out of the way places who have no parents have been very feral and in some cases never learned to speak.

Parents or guardians teach children how to act within the framework of what society dictates and without this I feel people would let the beast out frequently and some do, they are locked up in prisons.

Of course everyone has a 'beast within' but most people call it a dark side or their evil side. Everything in life has to balance, earth + air, fire + water, good + bad.

I absolutely have a beast within, I feel it building up inside until I can't contain it any more & then it has to come out, normally in a sexual way sometimes just as pure anger.

The surpressed anger and resentment that we face time to time can manifest in many ways - temper tantrums where you break things, start fights, get in the car and drive like a bat out of hell, go to gym and work out in a frenzy, sometimes we cannot hold the beast at bay.

I believe the key is to control the beast.

I absolutely believe in the beast within.. It is just better controlled in some individuals than others..

I believe it's more like an animal spirit guide. Not really a beast persay like a shapeshifeter or were-creature

Partially Atonement, but if the spirit guide were to possess the individual to create this beast within, it would explain quite a bit.

I think we all have a 'beast,' in that we have primal urges and instincts that we, for the most part, ignore

well the beast with in me is not like the tv show the hulk but ..i do believe that the beast within all of us always comes out when we least want it to.including me .

But yes, I believe in that beast within. I also believe that the beast can be as dangerous as we want it to be. It all depends on how easily we allow ourselves to be controlled by anger and rage.

On a somewhat related note: I do believe in the existence of a literal beast within us as well. What the beast is depends on the individual and their personality traits. For instance, my personalty is that of a normally silent guy who could have a dangerous temper but can usually keep it in check. But, I also find myself to be facinated by the elements of fire and air. Due to this, I would say my internal beast is a dragon of sorts. What would your beast be?

I think mine came out, I don't remember a thing, and i have bit marks, claw marks on me and there was mudd all over my feet

Out of all the times I've let it out i only remember like 5 of the 40 times it has happend.

I know my beast was draconic. Same thing happened to me, except I saw some burn marks and my mouth felt like it was on fire. Also, I once suddenly felt like there was something sticking into my back, could have been wings.

we all have a dark side, if you want to call it the beast thats entirely up to you.
all of us are capable of the worst and the best mind you of what is possible for us.

Dark side? Not my beast, I don't think. I normally would say a person's "dark side" was like a state of mind, not body. could be wrong of course.

In some of my x-rays my bones are bent and shaped in the wrong way.
I've woken up naked out in my woods not knowing what happend, and my dad telling me "Dear you are one odd duck"

I've had dreams of this stuff happening to me except I was in an entirely different place and time. But when I woke I would find evidence of my dragon/beast. Scary shit when you think about it. Especially in my case when you consider that dragons are supposed to live a long time...

the worst ive done is ripped apart my matress....i gues im not much of a sleep walker...i just thrashed around tell it was destroyed

I've lost many a beds and lovers to the beast, no the lovers didn't die, they ran the moment they saw my animal side.

Of course we all have a beast within... It is called the "reptilian brain" or "paleocortex"; is the basic need of fight for survival and what is responsible when people get high or too drunk and start acting violent and other things like that...
Speaking at a more phylosophical level, the beast within is the hidden fear of anyone of us, the things we accumulate in time and are afraid to express them... I don't think it is a beast specific by genre but by structure, by emotions...

You keep a lion a tiger a wolf locked up in a small cage for far to long, and the try to fun. There anger there rage is so much you can't stop them.

The man that is my soul mate that is my heart and soul, knows what I am and loves me for it. He is also in the army and like me has those beast with in him.

Instinct and adrenaline are my beast and they sleepound my frazzled nerves,it takes alot to bring me there but when I do it takes everything out of me to get back to calmed.Some say they black out has that ever happened to anybody?It did to me but it was hard to tell when the drugs ended and the rage came-in.When I get zapped easy sometimes i find things accumilated to make an episode more intense(I am practicing Martial Arts to help with this.)

Beast, demon, call it what you will, I think that everyone does have that other side to them. It may be something left over from our more primal days, that animal instinct. And yes I think it does have a tendency to come out when we are upset over somthing or just excited in general.

I do think I have one a type of beast or even beasts.

I have a demon, a more vaprice, and at least two were-type of inner selves other then my own. All but the more demon one I found I can slowly take into me.



But we all have different type of are inner selves. Other then the ones I said up there, sometimes I can feel a character I am RPing as become more real to me inside. We either need to face the, use them, or try and lock them up so they will not effect us. Sometimes they come out when we do not want it to. Like when are emotions are running on there own. Yes some of it can be from a more primal time in are past. Some of it might be a shadow of where we are going over time.

When the beast that lurks with in consumes you ...then one has a problem...and so does the individual that brought it out.

I believe it is completely possible. We all have a basic animalistic instinct, although I believe that therianthropes are closer to that spirit of an animal.

My beast has torn up five stacks of cardboard in the last two weeks.The person that summoned it is protected for one more week to pay back what is owed.Just to be sure the beast gives me the persistence to stalk this same person.So they have no idea how lucky they are that there are people who still think them redemable...and that I have plenty of cardboard.

For some people it may require drugs or alcohol to bring out the beast in them I'm usually normal until I get plastered.

There are many different fields of study that have tried to define and explain our idea of an inner beast. The fact that so many scholars through out time have all at least agreed some what that we have some sort of inner self or beast says a lot. However, it does not say that it is feral beast or linked to vampires or some other mythical creature. It could be as simple as humanity having some sort of “animalistic” nature locked away in ourselves and that there is nothing special or extraordinary about it.

yes i do believe that it is completely possible to have the beast within us.i know it because i have a beast within myself.it drives us to do things we normally wouldnt have even thought we could do.some things that may even be irrehensible.i call mine the dark companion.it drives me straight to violence and hostility.

Triggers becomes a question I have what does it take to push you to the edge and brings the beast out.

Everyone has their own inner beast which they can release in their darkest hour I feel that most people are aware of their triggers too

Some of you wondered if I was refering to a "dark" side. That's not the case. When I say a beast withing I mean something that resides in all of us. As it seems some of us can control it and then others can't.

I definitely don't claim to be a vampire or lycanthrope, but I do believe in the beast within, because I have quite a nasty one within me.

As long as I can remember, I have always had temper issues. I usually "hulk out" whenever I am repeatately irritated or thing continuously go wrong.

When I blow, it is nasty. I usually just destroy an object close by and let out a few yells and growls.

Now with a kid on the way, I am glad that my wife and I have been working to help me get it under control. It's been a long fight.

Like many who have posted already. I have known this topic all too well. Mine has been with me for aslong as I can remember. Feral and Hungery. Instinct that many would fear. For a time it controlled me. But control has been regained. But I do not try to keep it caged. I have learned to become one with it. And now we are as one. Which can still make for some interesting moments aswell. (Licks single canine tooth.) But moving along. LOL >;]

While I do believe in a metaphoric "beast within" theory, I do not see this as a literal concept. There is no actual "beast" running around inside of your corporeal entity. I believe you soul captures various "beast-like" qualities and facets of it. It does not have to mold you into what you are because it is already a part of "you." Although over time more aspects of your "inner beast" may become more apparent to an outsiders view of you.

Some do, you know I have gained more over many more life times then i though i would. And jeff has all ways been right next to me

so people aware of their triggers can guard those triggers...but what if say a professional agitator can trip that person with ease into a frenzy...I know of these type of people.

Lucky I was caught and placed into organized freestyle tournaments… which I did well in, before this silly cage unlimited junk.
I don’t feel a beast with in …. im cold calculated and rather efficient.
