Which monster do you think is miss understood and why?
I think frankenstien was, they didn't see his heart. Just like we label others. You know what i mean. frankenstiens heart was big, but no one looked past his face!
i am gonna have to say the werwolf...
i mean this "monster is cursed to roam on the nights of the 3days of the full moon and then most of the time they dont even notice it....
besides i figured i would get an answer in cause i think it might get canned or moved..
Is dracula a monster? I think vampires are misunderstood by most of the public. Movies make them out to be such horrible creatures. They are despised and very misunderstood. I think they are more sexy than scary...
I think Godzilla is misunderstood... he cant help it if he's enormous.
Lol, when I was young I tended to think that a monster was a big hairy thing with sharp teeth and claws. Different colours of course so you can tell the different types blah blah blah..............
Now the Scooby doo monsters are definately misunderstood until the mystery gang finally figures it all out at the end. When will they learn to just pull the mask off in the first place!
i would have to say the loch ness monster highly misunderstood and feared for humans not understanding when likely it is just something that has managed to live out the ages being deep underwater and has not evolved from whence it first lived yes people say it is a hoax but untill absolutely proving it a hoax i will believe in such a creature
all of em. for one they're called monsters which means for starters that they aren't understood at all. if care and analysis was given then a better label could be applied and probably a suitable environment for it.
except the fly, he was a nuisance. i kid, heh heh, but only just.
My boss often tells me she is miss Understood....only that's not the name the rest of us know her by.
Monster is a name humans have created. Anything different beyond our small scope of comprehension is a 'monster'. Anything that does not follow our little view on how the world should run is 'evil' or a 'monster'.
I want to take this question the opposite way, and say humans are misunderstood and should be labelled as monsters. What we do to nature, animals, and ourselves is far worse than any monster.
I would say Big Foot. Everyone is afraid of BigFoot but yet when people say they have had sightings he never comes to them but always runs away
I agree with anyone who says all, in fiction and reality they are given the label of monster simply because of the image, but would that make them really harmful, any prooves that they are and if they are would that be caused because of 'our' judgementalism or behaviour towards them, like it happens with certain animals, who only attack if they are provocoked or to defend their territory?
I have to agree with all of the above, no body really looks past the fur, facial beauty or the diet of creatures much to our own shame.
The The Loch Ness Monster
If the monster truly exists and is not a hoax or a publicity stunt, it is extremely elusive. No bones or remains have ever been, found and short of draining the Loch, it seems impossible to disprove the existence of the creature.
I think King Kong is a misunderstood monster he was fine where he was and worshipped but of course greedy man had to bring him to a place where he didn't know anyone or anything and then killed him for being him
What carsho said is indeed true. We call sharks and alligators monsters because they kill. Anything that has the ability to kill us (and a few creatures who don't) are labled as "monsters".
It's extremely unfair in general.
Hmmm, gonna have to go with Frank as well. The poor guy didn't ask to be made like that, he was a cruel invention by man, confused and definitely misunderstood.
But monsters have the same instinct, to survivee and feed, whether its hollywood or monsters on mother earth. (sharks etc.)
to us anything that would attack a helpless human is deemed monster so would have to say all that fall into this catagory.
Maybe man should be more feared then. Humans kill more things including other humans then anything else does so the misunderstanding about humans is that they are helpless.
A human playing golf and then getting eaten by an alligator is considered "helpless". Not the person who stabs someone in the street.
I think a Vampire is pretty misunderstood, they're viewed as evil simply because they feed on humans. If they fed on chickens, they would be considered annoying. How's that for justice?
Uh...what about it? Want to expand a little? Share your thoughts? Give some input?
Swampthing. It lives in the swamp, and it's a thing. I feel like I've understood it pretty well.
The comic is set in the early 20th Century, when scientist Alex Olsen is caught in a lab explosion caused by his co-worker, Damian Ridge, who intended to kill him to gain the hand of Olsen's wife Linda. Olsen is physically altered by chemicals and the forces within the swamp. He morphs into a monstrous creature who kills Ridge before the latter can murder Linda. Unable to make Linda realize his true identity, the Swamp Thing sadly ambles to his boggy home.

I think vampires are very missunderstood. When I read these books on them it seems almost everyone of them wish that they weren't what they are now. They may not have a pulse but they still have somewhat of a heart. I'm going to sound like a fan girl but in the Twilight series Edward and his family are trying very hard to live their lives just like normal teenagers but it's hard since they don't age. He doesn't want to hurt anyone if anything he wants to protect people.
personally I think ALL "monsters" are mis-understood because most of the world does not take the time to understand them. most of the world specifically wants to "examine" them or eliminate them while calling them "unnatural".
Frankenstein definitely, he knew that he was different and people were afraid of him despite the fact that he meant well.
Every one of them named by all in here are misunderstood. Animals, Vamps, lycans, Frankenstein and his creation. heheh. Even poor Godzilla tromping all around Tokyo. We call them monsters or even demons some of the time. I bet they have a heart. I bet they feel pain even if it does not beat. heh. I think the real monsters are us. Humans. That is just my opinion. I could be wrong...... But all the killing we can do even in large, massive numbers, creating bombs of death or suffering. What is truly a monster?
I like Sinora's post, lol. I had a few bosses like that in my life.
I have to say Frankenstein....even as a little girl I always felt sorry for him because I could see the heart beneath being broken.
Frankenstein was the doctor...not the creature.
The term "Monster" means..An animal or plant having an abnormal form or structure;an animal or plant,or object having a frightening or deformed shape;one unusually large for its kind.
(From Webster's Dictionary)
Man made up the term and they call anything not like them a monster...so man is the real monster...when they can not understand something or how it looks.
All of the above...but I'd have to really go with the Frankenstein monster...he kept trying so hard to fit in and be human, yet kept being traeted like crap all of the time.
The Frankenstein "monster" that the doctor created is what I meant to say. I just always called him Frankenstein though.
I agree anything labeled as a monster is misunderstood, we judge by looks and if something does appear as normal we label it a monster, a monster should be desciribed by its actions not by its looks.
Well I think that Frankenstein was very misunderstood for who or what he was and it is sad ... I mean he is like us he did not ask to be born (created) as it were and he was like a child and still trying to learn just was misunderstood is all... It fall in the category of closed minded people as so many other things that are around, people do not want change or to believe that some things could really be...
the cybermen are very misunderstood. they only upgraded their bodies to cyberform to survive. they convert other people into cybermen because it is the only way theycan reproduce, and they genuinly believe that they are bringing enlightenment and a better way of life to them.
a bitevangelical, but they mean well.
Frankenstein killed the kid, right?
The Alien in Aliens are misunderstood. They're just mom's lookin' out for their own babies.
Hell...the Aliens were pure killing machines - born to raise hell, I'd say!
King Kong. I mean, this big dude lured by a hot chick and then got jumped in his jungle and pulled into the city. They then turned loose into the city, and would not hook him up with his woman and admit him to any of the clubs because he wasn't "dressed right."
Freaking New Yorkers are too uber for the big monkey...
Nosferatu.
Well all vampires.
we get stereotyped as these blood sucking freaks, yet most of us only take a little bit.
Klingons. okay - they are a bunch of headbangers, but they are honourable warriors thatare just the victims of federation racism.
Frankenstein was misunderstood. He didnt have a mind of his own or realy a human heart to understand his actions. I dont think he intentionaly hurt anyone.
I think you can find a soft spot for any monster out there because there does always seem to be some good in all of them.
Good point. It does seem like every creature or villian that I can imagine has a soft spot somewhere.
Either for its victims, its offspring, its creator, thier is a soft spot.
I was even thinking the Pinhead might sneak through, but he too showed weakness.
I must contemplete this on the Tree of Woe.
carsho definately said it best we humans are the monsters and what we do is most misunderstood
before reading what she said i was gonna say i collect gargoyles and i know they are misunderstood they were our great water purifyers and protectors my mother screams they are evil monsters
daleks.they want to exterminate other races because they are afraid of them.they belive if they dont exterminate aliens then aliens will exterminate them.the first one they ever met was doctor who and he tried to committ genocide on the whole dalek race.they are showing signs of overcoming their trauma.
when you look at it - there are no monsters really - they all have a point of veiw. most are persecuted just because they look freakish. take the elephant man for instance - a gentle soul who never harmed anyone - his only sin was to suffer disfigurement.
I think Grendel from Beowulf is misunderstood. He was born disfigured and pathetic and because of the fact that his mother was a viscious monster he inherited some of those traits. It really wasn't his fault he was born the way he was. He just did what was in his nature.
i think the werewolf, they are beautiful creatures when they want to be :D
Frankenstein to me is the most misunderstood monster there is, I mean he was created and was like a child and was learning or trying to learn and understand what and who he was... to me the Werewolf and Vampire both know what they are how they got there and well do their thing what can I say... LOL
Just an opinion my dears...
pit bulls. i dont even know how they got into the category but i do not approve one bit.
Ack..pit bulls should definitely not be in there!
What about that hairy monster in the really old Sylvester and Tweety cartoons... he was pretty misunderstood. Sheesh I wish he coulda just eaten that dang bird!
Nah...all monsters are misunderstood, that's why we call anything we don't really understand - 'monsterous.'
He's Different - KILL HIM!
The "Fallen Angels," their descendants, the "Rephaim," and the later name given these descendants: the "Vampires." And all were vilified and misunderstood for the same exact reason.
I have to go with Loch Ness....... after all these years they still "see her" and yet no one has got any proof. So I think the whole thing is misunderstood in many ways.
ther are no monsters just people with shallow thinking and fear of the different
If they are considered to be a monster then they are all misunderstood.
