What is your idea of the real thing in the vampire world?
Lifestyle
Drinking a thirst for blood?
Eternal death?
The need to take energy for health n lust or more?
Tell me what you think us modern vampires should be?
By Modern Vampires do you mean Humans who fancy themselves Vampires?
No I mean those who come to this site and want to find something … vampire.
What do you consider the real thing?
I consider the real thing, people who need blood to survive, who cannot bear sunlight, whether mentally or physically.
Being English I agree we don’t like or see much sunshine lol
I consider a real vampire to be a person who has a lack of internal energy. An "old soul" who, for whatever reason, isn't capable of maintaining their spiritual strength.
I know "spirit energy" sounds rather silly but I have meet a lot of people who feed of others' energy and if they don't they get weak.
I see no need for a vampire to drink blood, it's not vitamins they lack lol. A vampire "feeds" to keep up energy, so in my opinion the only real vampires are "psy."
That isn't to say drinking blood etc isn't enjoyable or pointless but there simply is no dire need to.
someone who has been one this earth a very long time.
whi does need blood a preys on humans in the dark of the night.
I would like to believe the real thig is like in the films. They are so fun to watch.
It would be like everything else in life and only give you what you believe it would. If you believed it to be like the movies, it might very well be just that. Yet, if you believed it to be eternal damnation, then you may not like it. I believe it all comes down to perspective and expectations.
My idea of the real thing is that idea wich has been depicted in for example movies like Dracula2000, or Interview with a vampire, and in general that kind of depiction/idea.
It suits me best, my perception of what the real thing should be.
I have to agree that the real thing only exists in movies other than that there is no real thing
Very deep question, alas also very personal. I feel a vampire should feel his/her drives and passion and act them out
The real thing to me would be a vampire who has been on the earth for a long time perhaps even constantly cycled here, well skilled on how to do things mentally, walking the world trying to find some kind of peace in who or what they are, sating their hungers and other urges that come into play.
"Real" Vampires do not exist...alot of people pretend they are a vampire...they roll play and begin to think of themselves as a "Real" Vampire. You can dress like one...live like one...even drink blood...but in all reality you are not a vampire.
a vampire should be mysterious, and strong.
They should keep their existance a secret, and stay under wraps.
They should be liked more, if you ask me.
The real thing.. humm well to me if they live the life of a real vampire then they would actually want need all that you listed as questions in your original post.
I know that many people do live a true (or as true as possible) Vampire life do everything you listed. LOL
I mean for a true Vampire to exist , they would have to be living dead and well I do not feel there are any around as such, but there are many whom live the lifestyle and it is a Real Lifestyle and strict one as well. so....
The real Vampire?
According to psychological research which I have come across it's considered someone who "drains" people's energy without knowing it.
For example, you are in a bar and someone comes up and says hi. You start talking to them and realise that you are feeling tired all of a sudden and maybe unwell.
The most dangerous of psi vamps are the one's who don't know what they are.
I fancy the 'real' vampire would be something along the lines of that 'old, mythological version'.
E.g. most movies in which they're somewhat like the 'Dracula' version.
To me, a "REAL" vampire is someone who suffers from Poryphia...
just sayin'.
misterstikki, Porphyria is considered a medical disorder, the two (by definition) are distinctly different.
Personally I do not believe real vampires exist. There are people who fancy themselves as one just because they like the taste of blood. But, they can get by without it. I am sure a real vampire wouldn't be able to. Not if you go by what is shown in the movies. And as far as being sensitive to sunlight, a lot of people are. That doesn't mean they are a vampire. Just that maybe they should invest in a good pair of sunglasses.
I agree totally.
I believe that being a "vampire" to most is merely a lifestyle choice. That doesn't make them a real vampire...because they just don't exist.
The closest thing, in my OPINION, is the above mentioned medical condition.
Wow some great post and some not so good lol
So to clean it up a little I don’t care if you need to keep repeating vampires are not real to convince yourself lol
Im asking what would you consider a real vampire please.
Whether it be considered fact or fiction, what I consider to be a real vampire can be found on this page, What Is A Vampire. That, in short, is my answer. Unfortunately it doesn't really lead to any discussion on the topic.
We are not like the hollywood vampire. We are humans who have a need for either blood or energy. We tend to fall ill if we go too long without. Most of us are very different though. The sun is unpleasant for most of us, but it doesn't harm us too much.
The origin of vampires or vampire myth is pretty cool and there have actually been studys going on now to find out if there really are vampires. scientists have found what they are calling the V5 virus which is activated at puberty causing vampirism and this gene they found through gene mapping they found could actually be the next step in human evolution as it causes longer life spans, incresed strenght and higher mental and psychic ability and could be used to cure the aids virus as well. The say that most vampires are carriers of the virus and if two carries have a child it will be passed on to the child and that baby would be a vampire when awakened in adolesence.
Here is the link for full article on it.

From 3000 BC with the Phaistos Disc and Belzeit Tablet to the present with the Vampire Rave, evidence of a vampiric lifestyle exists whether someone chooses to believe in vampires or not. The belief that someone is a vampire is no different than someone believing they are a christian. The word vampire or christian describes a lifestyle choice, not a mythical creature.
In todays world there is no "Real Thing" no matter who you think you are ( not making this personal i do ean in genral) you are never pure vampire maybe way back when but there has been to many generations that have been mixed between humans and "vampires."
makes ya wonder why those who dont believe in them are on a site like this in the first place o.O hehehe
Very Creative Role Players. I will accept that, those that take it a notch further and claim to be actual vampires, they are VERY creative.
Vampires are v'ry unique creatures, either by physically or mentally; those who can no long'r exist 'n the "mortal" world transfer, or break away 'nto the "immortal" world. Some need blood t' feel rejuv'nated, ot'ers need internal energy, every vampire 'as they own agenda.
Just because someone may not believe that the chupacabra is real, or vampires, werewolves or shadow people...does not mean that someone does not enjoy the mythology surrounding these creatures. That is why some people who do not believe in vampires might be on Vampire Rave.
What is my idea of the real thing in the vampire world?
I simply do not believe that there is such a thing as a "real" vampire.
Could I be wrong?
I suppose I could...I have an ex wife to prove that I have made mistakes before.
What I really don't understand is why if people can believe in a God or something of that nature , for some reason have a hard time believing in other things that COULD exist just as much as that entity or being could *shrugs* makes no sense o.O
Some people 'ave b'come accustomed t' bein' called somethin' for so long that they instantly b'lieve it, (Mind you that no one is obl'gated t' b'lieve so).
People tend to call things that could exist imagination. Whether something possibly exist is of little significance really. I can imagine a lot of things as possible. People want their opinion exalted above that of others, they want to have the dominate position.
So here is me, I believe in imagination, would you consider the possibility that vampires do not really exist.
Someone who has the need and ability to weaken others, either through physical, psychological, or spiritual means; and gains in some proportion a measure of what they have taken.
You have a point, dabbler! The questions is, "what do you believe?", not whether or not it's real. To some, vampires are very real even if from a fictional standpoint.
This forum section is for things pertaining to The Dark Network, most of which, but not all of, are fictional. Opinions are one thing, but are you (or more specifically others posting here) going to say you don't belive in fiction?
i read through a lot of these and the energy on i like that and the sun thing i know is true cause i actully am allergic to the usn and i usally feel drained with out poepl to "feed off of"* or to hang out with i use ther energy as my own and make my self more endurable like i dont get hurt as easly whn i more stengtheed by feeding off of the energy
you expect others to accept your opinion as possible, your opinion is based on possibilities.. imagined possibilities.. I have only imagined possibilities, are you somehow placeing your imagination/opinion above others.. perhaps to be in a higher standing, I mean if I said, "I BELIEVE"
How could I have Been so Ignorant for not believing in every thing Possible, You are a vampire.." I would follow it with< "What Now?" Where are the ghost?" But are you willing to leave it there.I really tried to not break from the thread but you keep pushing your damn belief on me. Cramping my imagination, arguing with my right to imagine, because you want opinion, you do not want my opinion! You want to believe you are more in tuned to possibilities then others... bravo for you you are all enlightened now call it a church and see who turns up, you can even be the pastor..
I can imagine a whole book worth of possibilities, I can give an opinion when I want. I will not believe for the benefit of others. Make believe all you want.
According to MYTH all of the above apply. For the modern day vampire I would think they would stick with tradition, but that would just make it easy to be hunted and killed.
Yes Dabbler I do enjoy your post you have grasped your reality quite well lol
Thank you Bones for pointing out the question asked …. Frustrating thing about posts is the drive by comments.lol
A vampire I imagine, if they exist, exist as in the frame of White Wolf.
The clans and societies, are well put together.
I agree Dabbler the game vampire masquerade from white wolf makes a rather interesting set of vampires that appeal to large audiences
Well if they do exist the heat is on them to keep the veil drawn and the Masquarade.
dabbler, the majority of my last post wasn't directed towards you, but to most of those reading and/or posting to this thread... Especially those with a negative attitude. You seem to have taken it personally.
Folks who can live without feeding either sang or psi, but who feel a lot better when they, such as myself.
I am more alert and awake at night, I find many of us are like and share the penchant for sunglasses on a sunny day. And prefer not to be in the sunlight.
In Rant by Chuck Pulucnik There are day people and night people, I couldn't get the parrales to vampires out of my head.
The one who may or may not be the biggest evil serial killer of all time?
CountessofShadows -
That technically can't be used as something to describe vampires, as some animals like the vampire bat have it, as well as some people like the taste.
Vampires are accustomed t' whatever people portray them as, if they are immune t' sunlight then they are more induced t' dark skin, yet when people look at them they are undetected by the "theory" o' what a vampire should "look like". Diff'rent people often come t' the same conclusion when they automatically think "Vampire". The pale skin, dark eyes, long canines, etc. but once they b'gin t' think abou' it their visions change.
i think that feeding is borne of an innate need for the true Vampire. we can no more help it than we can our own personal desires.
Very true … before most of us realize our path we have been innocently taking energy or drawn to blood for a while without thinking
Feedin' is true, it is like when a boy is thrown into a pool, he brain automatically makes his body t' move 'n someway to make him float (personal exp'rience), or if starving a human body will be willin' t' eat anythin' that he/she sees or if there is nothin' around the body b'gins t' eat fat stored or cave 'n itself.
A true vampyre to say needs blood or energy to be at peace, they will become ill slowly or depressed if they do not take what they need. Some are sensative to light, in so it hurts their eyes or they burn more easy than other, but not all. I think it varies alot, and what constitutes a true vampyre is that this is not a fancy lifestyle they live for a few years, they live this life every day until they pass over to the next world.
I am not really one to believe that there are those out there that need to consume blood to survive but I do believe that there is the possibility of those out there that need to feed from something be it energy, lust, etc.
I suppose their lifestyle would be the same as pretty much everyone else's; they live in a manner that suits them best.
People who dont believe in vampires shouldnt even be on vr.. Me myself hate the sunlight.. i love gloomy dreary days.. id sleep all day if i could..
Perhaps a more "modern vampire" would have evolved somewhat i.e being able to endure the light or go without feeding for longer periods of time, change is bound to occur. Surely they would be more adept at keeping their true identity a secret. Perhaps more clever at surviving in a more technical world.
The real vampire is no different than you and me, if we look at it from a biological point of view.
If I were to choose what the real thing could be like. Then I would not mind seeing someone like Armand from Interview with a vampire.
Actually, BelovedTwilight420, some people need blood t' survive, much like a cannibal (yes there are people out there who are) who 'ave taken blood/organs for so long, their body will disintegrate upon itself b'cause they lack that familiar nutrient/energy.
To me a vampire may be one who does not age as fast as others but still will die one day...also their ammune syatems are different but they can still catch diseases....some can exchange energy with Trees and Plants, people ect. Some may be vegrtarians as they like vegetables, plants ect. to eat or just mainly liquids.
a real vampire in todays day in age would be as it always has been in the eyes of authors and directors of the time.
If I was a vampire living in a human body, I would say feed on blood, only comes out at night, and is many of thousands of yrs old. However, their are noi such thing as a vampire they are only fictional and ia only heard in movies or books
i believe that only creatures drink blood and eat other creatures :)
Dannifilth, are you a vegetarian? Or does that make me a "creature"?
The real thing well I would not want it because I would not want to live on earth forever because I mean look what humans are doing to themselves already.
We destroy oursleves why would I want to be immortal and see destruction.
wolfkiller it all depends what you and many see when it comes to seeing something that is real but would actually be fictional in the character sense.
I get what you mean but what I am not understanding is why you say it would be fictional in any sense I say this because if immortality was a possibility I would not take it.
to know what a real vampire is you would have to meet one first, lol. take that to mean whatever you want...
as for the whole blood thing... any being that is carnivorious can have a BLOODLUST. the want (or as some say need) to drink blood is called a bloodlust. having one does not in any way make you a vampire.
besides, most mythology i hear around here concerning vampires are the ones we get from movies, which are new. has anyone here heard of any of the mythology of vampires that is not from the last few centuries? that would make a very interesting discussion...
As long as you are not annoying any one than be what you will.
A real Vampire to me would never tell a person they where a vampire. A person that believes in vampires existence should be able to catch clues.
Yeah in this day and age one might want to keep it undercover.
I imagine that if I were a real vampire, I wouldn't even associate with anyone or be a member of a site such as this...it wouldn't hold my interest, nor would I want to take a chance at revealing myself.
It is the same as everyone else, hold a job, have a home, and getting along with co-workers and neighbors. The difference would be how we socialize with others of our belief and being discrete in our behavior while around those who don't understand our belief's.
An unquenchable thirst, and the thrill of exchanging energy.
There are so many definitions of a Vampire. One of the oldest definitions is any living creature, or being that takes in energy from other living beings. It isn't always drinking blood for say. But another thing is that drinking blood alone in no way makes a person a vampire. I personally am not a Vampire. What was the topic again? lol
i believe by now they should be adaptedd to human activites and only kill people of no importance, like homeless peple and the people that live in our heads.
Vampires are born not made. If you aren't born with it you don't have it. How do you know you might ask?
I shall tell you a few ways to know. One you have always burnt easy by the sun ever since you were a child, and its worse towards the begining of the morning, Two you skinn your knee at age 4 and suck at the wound while people are telling you no, Three after feding from your knee you are more alive looking not sickly. If the thirst continues and you would rather eat meat than cerial You are possibly vampire born. Also the vamp gene can skip generations.

Actually Phurry666,I have to say I disagree with that statement as far as burning skin and sucking blood from a wound..Just because someone has those traits doenst make them a vampire. And one doesnt have to have them to be one.JMHO
I have done all those things as well...to include the feeding thing adding more color to my skin.
I also eat my steak extremely rare. If it doesn't moo once or twice when I cut into it, I am disappointed.
However, I do not drink blood anymore and only tried it briefly, as it just didn't seem to be my cup of tea (sorry for that...I don't drink much tea either).
So according to your definition, I am a vampire once removed?
my belief is that the real things is not as classically portrayed in modern films but yes sorta as in the older horror sometimes considered 'forbidden' movies. I honestly don't know whether I truly believe or not but I am willing to open my mind to such a thought if anyone will give the the low down onn VAmpyres
i believe that the modern vampire evolved in way......
they have a thirst for blood....
they are smart, beautiful, talented, and clever....
they can stand sunlight.......
not for to to long.... enough to go out in the day and do "normal human" activities...
The only "True Vampires" in the world are leeches, vampire bats and mosquitos, and any other animal or insect that drinks blood...humans pretending to be vampires don't count.
Oceanne you posts are always so good and helpful. As for the my answer to the posting, I would agree with all of what most people have posted , with the desire and wanting for the taste and the allergy to the sun, there are many people like that. But the lifestyle and the elegance just seem to go hand in hand.
I belive vampire are the real thing but not so as the movies portray them
I feel they are strong magical beings who don't kill ppl for blood but who do get it from ppl some how
i think the real thing is someone who feels they have to feed off of another source of life to survive, whether that be blood or energy.
They realize who they are and embrace thier nature and try to further thier knowledge and protect thier kind.
A real vampire doesnt listen to the stigma of society.
I dont believe in modern day vampires, it's ridiculous.
Since vampires started showing up in history, they've not been able to resist human blood, & stalking there prey.
Now days, vampires arent vampires. They walk around in the day light, eat regular food, only need small amounts of blood, & they get it donered to them!
I think it's amazing how people try to change things to fit it to themselves.
No offence to anyone of course. Each to their own, & this is mine.
I so agree. People want to be something so badly they go to great lengths to convince themselves and others that they are that desired "something"....which is totally ok. If that makes ya feel good and you enjoy it..knock yourself out.
It just ain't me.
i also agree,if you want to believe that you are a vampire or warewolf or something,go right ahead,i know what i am and im not gonna say im something that im not,im a human being and thats all im gonna be :)
Whether vampires are real or not, I've yet to say. I have no clue- but I don't believe yet, and that says something, lol. If I ever find that a vampire physically needs to drink blood to survive, or I witness some sort of amazing, spectacular energy feeding, I'll believe. Until then...I'm waiting =]
I was a donor one time for this woman who was into the vampire lifestyle and after the second time of donating to her, I began to feel kinda weirded out about the whole thing. She then told me after a week that if she didn't feed every couple of weeks she gets deathly sick...I offered to take her to TGIFridays if that was the case because I was thru with it.
To each his or her own.
Yeah? Then she brought her kid over and told me that she needed a daddy for her kid...lol. And wanted to feed!!!
With her kid there.
My one and only experience with a vampire. Yay me.
Hey wolfman according to you the animals you said drink blood so they are vampuric but if humans drink blood why aren't they vampuric???
I thought Blood-Drinking was the same for everybody or is it only those select animals that are vampuric???
