The number 13 is associated with so many things. The biggest is the superstition that the number 13 is evil and the Friday the 13th bad luck things.
Some have chosen to claim the 13 as their favorite. Why? What is the reason behind the fashion trend of "13", "Lucky 13", etc patches on peoples coats, hoodies, cars, etc.
Pagans use it as covens are usually 13 people.
Bikers use it to represent everything "M" as it is the 13th letter. "M" stands for money, mom, marijuana, etc to the Bikers.
If so many people like the number 13 is it really "Evil"?
Do you like the number 13? Or do you run from it?
Personally I can't get away from it. All of my De'Ja'Vu's are followed or shadowed by the number 13. This is digging for the number but, my birthday (01-10-83) adds up to 13.
This sounds kinda like that movie...what was it called...oh yea number 23 but I've never had any bad luck with the number 13
It's never brought me bad luck...actually when I was in school that was the number on my football jersey. I can't say it's good luck either though...just a favorite number I suppose.
I'd say it's not evil. According to my Chinese zodiac, 13 is my lucky number.
placidchaos.... has the number ever brought you good luck
I've never believe a certain number to be lucky or unlucky to me or anyone else. I believe it's all coincidences that are linked together by the person who wants to believe they can have some control or influence over their life or possibly explain why something just 'is.'
I do have a favorite number and it is 13. It's the day my dad died. That day finally let him relax and not suffer from pain anymore. It was good for him.
I've wanted to get into Numerology but never really had a chance. Maybe something can be said for numbers appearing in our life in different ways but for right now I remain skeptical.
Well, I've almost always been a disbeliever in "luck" (I broke 5 mirrors just to prove it once) but things that directly involve 13 invariably turn out better for me. I can say without doubt that it has never brought me bad luck though.
I believe that the #13 is just a number. Superstition gives it a bad name. To my knowledge there is nothing biblical aoout it unlike the #7. It is said to be the number of completion.
I really know nothing of numerology although this past friday the 13th had some strange events though nothing really bad happened to me.
It is all about sugestion.. I someone heard about 13 being an evil and bad luck number... and believes in it.. than it will bring good luck... I am not supertitious.. and I never saw a difference betwen a number and another
I think the number 13 is significant because there are 13 full moons. The number 13 is not evil for pagans but signifies the lunar calendar.
13 also may be evil because of the 12 apostles and Christ and Christ died on Friday - making Friday the 13th a day of bad omens.
13 also comes up with some tattoos for convicts - 12 jurors and one judge - some have 13 1/2 or a jury, a judge, and a half-ass sentence.
I don't consider 13 or Friday the 13th to be evil at all. Actually I usually have good luck on Friday the 13th.
13 to some is a sacred number, to me it is just like the rest.
I dont feel 13 is evil ...perhaps the contrary..
still hanging on 13

The Schumann resonance, also known as Earth’s heartbeat, has increased from its normal 7.8 hz. and is hovering around the 9 – 11 hz. level. It is expected to move to 13 hz, the frequency of unconditonal love. Gregg Braden, a geologist who has been studying this, calls this place where the Schumann or magnetic frequency and the electric frequency intersect ZERO POINT.

The natural frequencies of the Human Brain are:
Beta waves (14 to 30 Hz),
Alpha waves (8 to 13 Hz),
Theta waves (4 to 7 Hz), and
Delta waves (1 to 3 Hz).
Alpha frequencies
have been associated with meditation and relaxation.
Theta frequencies
have been associated with a dreamy, creative states.

**Why all the controversy? Is it an unlucky number? you decide.**
The Nature of the Schumann Resonance
Is It Changing?
At present there is a rather confused set of ideas being circulated on the changing of the so-called Schumann Resonance, and its relation to the long awaited Earth changes. I would like to present some simple images that will hopefully help to clear this issue up, and lead to a more balanced consideration of this phenomenon.
The statement has been made that "the Schumann Resonance (SR) is rising, and is approaching 13 Hz, from its "normal" frequency of just shy of 8 Hz." Let's take this statement apart a bit. Just what is the Schumann Resonance?
It is known that all electromagnetic radiations which we measure in our local space travel very close to c, the speed of light, or 3*10^8 m/sec. Also, electromagnetic waves will bounce and reflect off of conductive surfaces, and this is how long distances are traversed by radio waves. Surrounding the Earth, there is a multi-layered complex of charged particles called the ionosphere, which acts as a reflector for low frequency radio signals. The conductivity of the ionosphere is constantly changing in response to the effects of the sun and its various outputs of flares, sunspots, and waves of many frequencies.
At very low frequencies, there is a greater conductivity of the Earth itself, and so a tendency for some radio signals, called ground waves, to follow the Earth, or even go through the Earth, which is useful for submarine communication. This creates a situation where there are two concentric spherical conductive surfaces, the earth and the ionosphere, forming a closed volume or cavity.
A more familiar cavity might be a bottle, which can be made to give a tone by blowing air across its opening. This is a simple acoustic resonance, and is formed by the creation of a standing wave inside the bottle. The Earth-ionosphere cavity has a similar sort of resonance, which can be thought of as being formed by a standing electromagnetic wave that encircles the whole globe, supported between the two conductive layers. Imagine a single wave of electromagnetism that has a length that encircles the planet. As it takes just under 1/8 of a second to transit the circumference of the globe at the speed of light, then we can understand that the base resonant frequency of the planet will be on the order of ~8 cycles per second, or 8 Hz.
Another aspect of the Earth-ionosphere cavity is that it has a very large electrical charge, like a capacitor. This charge is dissipated by lightning strikes, which are occurring in large numbers at all times around the Earth. This charge is constantly being replenished by input from the sun, and by other means. The continual crackle of this static discharge, created by the presence of thunderstorms across the planet, is akin to the blowing of air across the bottle mouth. It keeps the cavity excited and in oscillation.
There are many stations which actually measure this low frequency oscillation, such as the one at Stanford, which gives daily measurements
What is unlike the bottle example above, can be explained by an engineering concept called "Q", or quality factor. The bottle, or its more refined cousin the organ pipe, has a well-defined pitch, and so is deemed to have a high Q. The Earth's cavity, as it turns out, does not have a high Q. Further, it has a number of different frequencies at which it likes to resonate, like the overtones which can be made by over blowing a flute. Some of these frequencies are (rounded): 8, 14, 20, 26, 32, 37, and 42 Hz. It is these various standing waves that are referred to by the term Schumann Resonance. When measuring the SR, it is normal for one or the other of these modes to suddenly stand out for a brief moment, to be replaced by another, or by noise.
The actual measured waves at any site will not show any of these frequencies, except only very intermittently, due to the low Q of any of these modes. That is to say, the Earth does not make for a very good "filter" of the crackling lightning discharges. So in order to create the data which is given by any of the various measuring stations around the world, this noisy signal must be heavily processed and analyzed, so as to make the various resonant conditions stand out more clearly. This requires that the filtering algorithms are to a certain degree tuned to what the researchers are expecting to find.
There are other sources of ELF radiation that can enter this picture as well. Consider the possible cyclotron radiation of atmospheric particles hypothesized by Dr. H. A. Aspden. Yet another factor is a source of electromagnetic waves called Alfven resonator bands that occur in the same region as the SR. Without getting too involved, it can be said that the required knowledge and experience to adequately interpret Earth energy field data is very high. It is not something which allows for any speedy conclusions. An excellent summary of the many naturally occurring frequencies which are measurable on the Earth is given by E. E. Richard. It is often stated that the SR is "7.83 Hz". As Bill Ramsay points out, this would tend to indicate a high precision of measurement. It is actually due to a high degree of averaging, like saying the average family has 2.3 children. (Pity those families with the .3!) At any given location, the measured SR will be different, and it will change with a variety of conditions in time. Some locations may be seeing one mode or frequency more than others, due to the complex nature of the way spherical cavities can accommodate standing wave patterns. This is somewhat similar to what happens on a Chladni plate, which is made from the standing wave pattern created on a steel plate by sound waves vibrating loose sand particles. This shows the intricate ways in which standing waves mutually coexist to create patterns of great beauty. The case for three dimensions in a spherical cavity is yet more complex. It is, however, a useful image to keep in mind when considering the electromagnetic pulsations of the Earth, which are complex, and always shifting. One location may be different from the next, due to being on a node or loop of a standing wave. What is stressed is the theoretical nature of the mathematically derived figures for the SR, based on various aspects of linear system theory, and long term averaging. It is not an easily observed, tone-like signal.
Dr. Phil Calahan has taken measurements from a number of locations on the planet, both of the overall magnetic strength, and the ambient electromagnetic waveforms in the air, and has found that each place has somewhat different values. He has related this to the level of paramagnetic (para means essentially "weak") soils and rocks in any given location. His books on this subject are well worth reading (see "Para magnetism", available from Acres USA).
Michael Heleus has calculated the conditions for the primary, base SR resonance to actually shift to 13 Hz. This would require that the Earth becomes much smaller, or the speed of light must change drastically.

I have always be drawn to the number 13 as the number 7 for some reason.
But never has number 13 brought me bad luck.
I blive the number 13 is only evil because in ancient rituals, that was the number most associated with them
The number 13 is not bad luck there is only superstious talk of the number 13 I think the number 13 is power in my book the three numbers that are bad luck are three 7's are considered trinity, that is bad luck
I think if you believe it to be bad luck then it will be bad luck.
Things only have power over us if we allow them to.
that's a foolish statement
if you are bound with chains you'll be there whether you want to or not, it doesnt matter what you believe.
The number thirteen is just a number, comes after twelve and before fourteen.
also, i dont see what the big problem is, 1+3=4, which is not only the number of sides a square has ((we use them a lot)) but also the number of letters the name of god has, ((YWVH))
My apartment number used to be 13. As I was moving in the manager said we could change the number if it made me nervous. I told him no, that I was fine with it. Nothing bad ever happened in that apartment either.
I know of the number 13 of many things but it has never bothered me to the point of scaring me like when we land on Friday the 13th a few times a yr and things that also end up with a 13 at the end of it, it doesn't faze me one bit.
SatansBride.... i agree with you
great responses everyone.. keep it up
I dont find that number or any number to be lucky or unlucky. Some people do... For example my husband's birthday is the 13th and he was born on a Friday... His number on his ball jersey in school was 13.
Nope, I don't believe that at all. I believe it's whatever YOU believe. Nothing has power over you until you give it that power or energy. Sadly, we all tend to do that, myself included.
my bday falls on the 13 of friday and i have not had any thing bad happen to me so to speak of
I dont think 13 is evil but it also depends on how ppl look at it
Well obviously if you are bound with chains, those chains have power over you...however a number would not, unless you allow it to.
Much like a comment is only foolish to those who do not comprehend.
i hope it isnt unlucky... i was born on friday the 13th.
I don't think so. What makes it evil, the curve of the 3? Why isn't the 14th considered evil?
I don't think it is evil! I believe it is like other numbers and symbols it only has power if you give it power!
I have never seen anything wrong or evil about the number. In ancient times many cultural calanders had 13 months in the year. And even in more recent times when someone refered to a "Baker's Dozen" they were talking about the baker making 13 of an item. The 13th one being the test treat to see how they turned out.
I think it boils down to personal superstitions. We all have them.
I personally think that if you believe strongly enough something such as the number 13 is bad luck for you, you put negative energy into the belief and it takes on a life of its own.
Different societies and cultures place a lot of significance upon the number 13. Both the positive kind and the negative. So I guess it depends on the cultural background you grew up with. As to how you percive the number.
I have never had a problem with the number in fact Friday the 13th is usually a fantastic day for me :D
yeah, ok um a number is just a number, and I don't find it lucky nor do I find it evil what I find is a bunch of malarky in it, superstions don't fase me much anymore as a child my mother basically told me the truth about many things such as, santa, the toothfairy, and so I learned about the real world very young.
However she treated my brother and sister differently so many of the things I do know and hear about come from the BS she tells them in order to scare them in to going to sleep and so on.
As for the M and the #13 thing being so popular it seems sort of Reble like I suppose in their mind setting and its more so to do w/ living the recless life a junky that sort of thing partying and drinking and being a biker it's just a look prefrence.
well lots of people consider 13 unlucky, but its never been bad luck for me yet lol!
Maybe the anchients knew something we dont. ;)
13 Hz: Alleged sphincter resonance (not good)
Numbers are fun and they're interesting..at times they can add up so amazingly well, its almost miraculous.Whether it all means crapp or not,I have a great time with the number 13.
phone# 1300
cartag# 013
birthday 3/13
13th birthday.fri.13th
31st birthday friday 13th
when I was entering all that junk about it in my journal,Id get on and there where 13s across the board.
As you guys see tho,its supposed to be the frequency of unconditional love..and on the other hand,it causes your butt to get tight..so whos to even say..
and the list goes on..
I'm surprised Soulshroude hasn't posted anything yet.
I only glanced through the posts so I apologize if anyone has posted this comment already.
The number thirteen was not thought unlucky until after Friday October 13, 1307. That was the day the King of France had the Templars hunted down and disbanned. The connotation held throughout the years and with less and less known about the date, the number became synonomous with evil.
i dont believe in 13 bad luck..people believes make bad happen...its like santa..he is real till you believe in it
I always viewed 13 as lucky...but I do not associate it with M words even though I am a "biker". I know others that do, but being a "biker" to me does not mean that. It means we ride....as in me and my man ride a Harley.
13 is viewed lucky to me because some wonderfull things happen to me by chance every Friday the 13th. From as far back as I can remember. Maybe I have it in my subconscience it will be lucky so it is.
It's just a number to me, and even the things mentioned with M are not good for everyone either lol.
We had Friday the 13th this year, to me the 12th and 14th were more unlucky, but good luck and bad luck are just coincidances to me.
well the number does represent many things to many people, so alot has to do with how one believes I feel.
Myself I feel it is a number and nothing can have power good or evil unless you ALLOW it to . But, it has been associated with many occult, religions etc.. throughout history so I feel that is what has the biggest bearing on it, being evil or good.
Even though this was discussed recently...the number 13 is just that....a number.
Friday the 13th is the main reason people think it is bad or evil...but it is because...as I said before...The Knights Templar were wiped out on Friday the 13th in October 1307....by the Pope Clement V.
If you put the negative thinking or energy in that number... then it becomes unlucky... visa versa. Whether a number is lucky or unlucky, is truly all in ones head.
You can thank the Romans for forcing there beliefs and systems on us for the number 13 being unlucky.
There is 13 phases of the moon in a year … pagan year.
The need to convert was cleaver and used 13 to be unlucky…. Then some Templers were burnt on Friday the thirteenth so masking even more the real reason… now people give strength to those who wish to banish paganism by supporting 13 as unlucky with silly stories… sad really
_To be honest, I have never really given much thought to the number 13. Yes...I know that there are tons of superstitions about it, but I don't understand why. 13 has never been a bad day for me, any day on the 13th. Friday the 13th's are usually quite good for me actually. Though, I won't say it's my lucky number. That one's 45._
i don't think that 13 is an evil number. i don't attach any special significance to it either, because the number only has power if you believe that it does.
Bad Luck or evil is what you make of your life or the pre conception that people put on things such as a number.
I agree with Wolfsbohne it only become unlucky agre the knights templar were burned that October day the 13 a friday but no I dont belive it an unlucky number
i don't thinkit's evil, actually like most things that are feared i think it's misunderstood and from a numberoligist point it would add to the number 4 which has many good atributes designated to it.
Children become evil when they hit 13!
Damn teenagers.
I don't feel it brings any problems it's just an association
Not as far as I'm concerned, I often include it in my lottery numbers, still haven't won mind you.
I read the Da Vinci Code a few months ago - and the book had the theory of the 13th being unlucy because of the Catholic church's mass murder of the Knights Templar on Friday October 13th - it sort of made sense to me that people would continue viewing the 13th as unlucky since religious practices influence so much of our society. Myself - I don't believe any number is unlucky - or if there is a number that is unlucky it's probably 1 - since it's all by itself all the time...hehe
I used to say that 13 was my lucky number ;) it is great: 1+3=4
There certainly have been some strange happenings landing on the number 13, but I love it when it's friday the 13th.
I like how the number thirteen has so many bad things associated with it, especially as it is the start of your teenage years when you become thirteen!!
Lol, that aside, I think that it's just a number... There are so many cases in which people simply follow the crowd and common public belief in this kind of thing, so why not this?
Number 13 all the way XP
I don't think the amount of people who like the number 13 like it because of it being "Evil". I know people who like the number even though it's not associated with some sort of "evil".
I like the number 13 not because of the Evilness of it..but in a nut shell it is the common number that my "tree" likes in the greek society I am in. Everyone in my tree line likes the number 13....no reason behind it why we like the number...we just do.
Regardless of how the number 13 is associated with....I wouldn't run from it. Have no reason to....I think there are some who would consider the number to be something to be evil. We have this mindset to think that Friday the 13th is bad and everything associated with the number.
Then again i know people who don't like the number 13...I've worked in retail where the persons purchase was $10.13 or $13.13 and would go find something else just to not have that number to be part of the purchase.
For me its the luckiest day ,fri. 13th is the best. But for some the wish it was over b/4 it even starts.
Children don't become evil at 13...that's just when they seem to become more rebellious and more opinionated than they have ever been, and start standing up to their parents and...
ok.
You win.
13 IS a bad number. LOL :P
(just kidding kiddos)
I've been told paranormal activity increases in the 13th hour, not sure if that means anything or not, but definately interesting.
For me definitly not, my birthday has fallen on friday the 13th 6 times so far. I have never gad anything bad associated with the number, I actually have had good luck with it
i dont think the number 13 is evil but some people have the superstions about the number
Shakespeare was born AND Died on the same date [23rd April] lucky or unlucky?
It only has the power you give it. As does everything else in this world.
I dont mind the number 13 at all. isnt there also 13 main demons with a stronghold on thier wrelm. werent there 13 higherarch angels that were cast down to hell 1 of the strongest being belial besides lucifer or is belial and lucifer one in the same?
my bad on the spelling. that what happens when u dont reread it before u post it. DONT BE THAT GUY! like i just was.
I agree with teclaumes and all so it is all on your belief something only has the power from which you give it the belief.
"No Belief No Power"
I've never noticed anything "evil" with the number 13. To me, it's just another number. But when I was younger, and learning to count, I would count
"...10, 11, 12, 14, 15..." And just continue on. My teacher got mad at me. I just simply forgot it. lol.
Personally, I believe it is just folklore in a traditional sense.
I personally do not bellieve that the number 13 is evil. But I did find this web page on the number 13 and found this page on the components of the number 13.
Here is the link if anyone would like to check it out.
http://membre.oricom.ca/sdesr/nu13.htm
Did you know that there is now even a scientific term for those who fear Friday the 13th -
That is very interesting I did not know that. And about my previous post sorry I double typed the sentence.
DuCroix -
I think it could be considered so -- with the whole Friday the 13th superstition.
And to MaraJade - Hadn't there been a medical term for that for a while now?
Just a number. It's humans/people that have put an attachment of negative to it.
Myself personnelly dont think it is. However I do think it really depends on your own belief and feelings.
if ppl beleave that the number 13 is evil or brings bad luck or wat eva then it will its jus a number like ne other number
Personally,I dont think these beliefs started with whether the number was lucky or not.I feel that the number is significant in some manner that has to do with the electromagetics of this planet, and a few other things.
Jyselle -
What exactly has it done to prove it lucky to you?
I don't think there is evil in any number.. Most friday the 13th's i have better luck..
To me the number 13 is luck. My family always finds luck in the number 13.
The way i see it number 13 is just that a number. It cant bring good or bad luck. Its what u make it. If u think its unlucky then your mind will make it that way and vice versa
Not sure if it was mentione before, but many have claimed and believed that Judas was the 13th, counting Jesus and the other 11 apostles, many saw that as the reason why the number is unlucky, evil. I like the number 13
Being of German background, I have been raised to believe the number 13 is a lucky number. I've always loved it when Friday the 13th would roll around, as those were my lucky days in the year. :)
I have noticed that buildings often omit the 13th floor on buildings that go higher than that, but when you think of it, the 14th floor is then really the 13th in disguise. :)
On this topic, the Chinese (I believe it was) are superstitious with the number 4, as that number in English sounds similar to their word for 'death'. So they avoid the number 4, like superstitious people avoid the number 13 here.
JonGoddi -
It ties you to the Mafia? I've never really heard anything about that.
lol.. it was a joke.. "they say" the number 13 or the letter M ties you to the mafia... or your a pot head...ect ect.. watch Jail its funny the crap "they" come up with!!
Fair enough. ;] I guess I'm just a tad slow in regards to those types of things.
