Hello all
Considering we all are what we are not just in fiction but in practice, what are your views on watching things that slay vampires. For example, i refuse to read, watch or listen to anything that has to do with slaying my kind like Buffy or whatever. What are your opinions?
Starr
i like vampires so i dont really like to watch vampire slayer movies. And i hate buffy.
I love vampire movies but I dont a prove in any slayings being done to them
Well I don't really see any harm in it....it's just a movie/show/book/whatever. I personally am not offended or anything by it.
Thats what i wanted to know, i am very proud of what i am and do get offended by it. lol
I vaguely remember a vampire movie that came out in the early 1970's called: "Count Yorga, Vampire." I was just a little kid, and it scared the shit out of me. The vampires won in the end -- they overpowered the geeks with the stakes and the crucifixes. Maybe I was so scared because I identified with the geeks -- I wonder why?
i love vampires if they were to go away id cry no slaying! no slaying!
I'm a vampire, but I love any movie/show that has to do with vampires.
I used to watch Buffy. It was interesting.
I love Angel. It's just a show. It's entertaining.
Though, in no way do I condone slaying.
Murder is murder.
i like vampires and i like any type of movies that has them.
but i don't like the vampire slaying ones enless if the vampires win lol then i feel entertained lol...
All a movie is, is just that...A movie. Not to be taken seriously. Nor is roleplaying as a vampire, or lifer or associating with a lifestyle that pertains to the actions of the "undead."
Those of whom chose to live the "vampire lifestyle" always use common sense in all their undertakings. Any actions from movings concerning "hunting" vampires is imagination based alone. There are no "real" vampire hunters living in existance in these times.
It is by the individuals choice of watching a slayer vanquish a vampire in any movie, book or roleplaying game. Since it is all just fantasy.
The intentions of the media centered around these stereotypes is for enjoyment of which ever part of society the script is aimed at. If the individual feels insulted, it is by their own recognition alone, and out of pure fantasy alone or personal choice...Not to be condemned because they "think" themselves to be vampires.
Those of whom take the genre seriously are either quite mental and in need of "attention", or use common sense in their actions. It is people like these that give the stereotype and genre a bad name to begin with.
i really have no problem with it even tho im still hopeing my lil vamp friend wins but a movie is a movie
I don't care for slayers that much. But I have watched a few shows that have to do with them.
Hey maybe we should make a movie about vampires and other "creatures of the night" slaying the slayers......lol
well i dislike most things that try to terminate vampires be it sci-fi movies or what nought but i know it's just media trying to make money while selling entertainment so it doesnt really bother me.
"I refuse to read, watch or listen to anything that has to do with slaying my kind" - I highly doubt that you are of the kind of vampire featured in Buffy! Those shows are made purely for entertainment value. To get offended by them implies that you take yourself way too seriously, and possibly even suffer from a delusional complex which makes you believe that you are truly an immortal undead bloodsucker.
The whole reason vampries are portrayed as they are in the media is because a book or movie about a human being who just imbibes blood as part of their regular diet and only goes out at night would make for pretty boring viewing.
Buffy now dont you go picking on her...... but thats all just a tv show just like Angel etc and just like Balde Is just a movie, We are adults well most of us and can tell the difference between make believe and truth
Honestly wether it is in a vampire movie or any other movie it is just a movie for me
I mean in an horror movie will you refuse to watch friday the 13th cause they slay blonde girls? Or perfect random strangers?
Or stop watching Jason cause there is poeple getting slay?
I wont stop watching cause they slay a vampire cause to me a movie is only THAT a movie.
BUT if you talk about real life crimes, slay or murder of any kind then I will admit I refuse to watch the news about that.
I love vampire movies but dont like the way vampires are killed them
I agree with the above who say a movie is a movie.
Now if it is a slaying because of people saying they are vampires in real life that makes a no for slaying what one believes themselves to be. It reminds me of the persecution of witches.
Cant say i'm offended by it, it really is just fiction. And you forget how buffy show's the two side's of the coin.
Its a movie so its fantasy. If u look back at the older vampire movies they slayed them on there also
ok to the person who had to be totally rude and call me mental i would appreciate it if you dont reply to my posts. I dont suck blood, but i still take pride in what i am. If your a poseur thats your problem. I know what i am, so suck that.
Its no different than watching any other movie that kills people and these days you will be hard put to find the few shows without violence in them. I am not a vampire I am human and no it doesn't bother me a bit to see either killed.
Actually I enjoy all the vampire and witchcraft as well shows. They are entertaining. Its all about fantasy and nothing more so how could anyone get upset about that?
As far as groups of vampire hunters, some believe there are those that exist but I am not one of them. If there is anything out there it is people who are misinformed and quite frankly a fruit loop short of sane.
whatif it was a bad vampire who got kiled insted of a radom one?
I only like the fictional portrayal of vampires and slayers if there's some sort of twisted attraction between them. Oh, wait, that's Buffy. Never understood the Angel-Buffy thing. He bored me. Spike, on the other hand . . .
No a big fan of the vampire slayings and how vampires are portrayed on tv and movies as evil creatures ready to kill just for power and blood. I am not big on the slaying or killing o0f them.. Vampires have the right to be amongst human society as well..I mean now a a days there are so many different type of people all over the world..
Considering vampires exist only in fictional works, I don't take much mind to it. Hearing or reading about vampires dying in the only place they exist [fantasy or fiction] is entertaining.
To the creator of this thread,
I have in no way called you "mental", unless you do indeed fall into the category of: "Those of whom take the genre seriously are either quite mental and in need of "attention", or use common sense in their actions. It is people like these that give the stereotype and genre a bad name to begin with."
If you feel I have offended you in anyway, then this is your choice, as it is your choice to take insult and offense to movies that portray slayers killing vampires.
I do not ciritisize nor discourage your lifestyle, be what you will. I have merely stated facts about why common sense should be used in certain genres and or lifestyles.
Those of whom claim the title "vampire", and do not "feed" on blood, nor energy or whatever society deems the "vampire lifestylers" of today to "feed" on, then by no means shoudl the individual claim to be something they are not. It is alright to fit into any crowd, culture or lifestyle, just don't play the fool and actually learn a thing or two before throwing names, or titles around any gathering whether online or off. Most of us online and off are not a naive lot and should not be taken for one.
I dont mind shows and movies about slayers. After all they are just for entertainment and should be viewed as such. If you dont like it then dont watch it. I really dont watch shows or movies about it because it seems that they are all so fictional they are stupid... Well thats just my personal opinion and yeah.... just an opinion
Shows are shows.I'll watch anything if it is well done.I dont really care if they're slaying Vamps or not..I dont watch Buffy tho.
dont care for the shows but if a person in my house watches one i dont freak out or leave the room
I never liked Buffy either Angel was a good show though bit over dramatic though lol.
To the best of my knowledge there has never been a nonfiction movie about a living vampire getting slain. I see no reason for anyone to be offended by a fictional movie about fictional undead vampires getting slain by a "slayer". Especially since the majority of fictional undead vampires that get slainby a "slayer" have been evil. Although more common in more recent fictional shows and movies are vampires with a conscience that don't kill to feed that go after the evil vampires. Now if I were to get offended by something in a fictional vampire story it would be that if there's a "hero" vampire that spends most of their time trying not to be a vampire instead of embracing what they are.
I don't get offended by the show/movies. As they are just that. It is non fictional. And I have yet to see a "real" vampire. Just people that live a vampire lifestyle.
Precisely :-)
Unless you're a 1000 year old walking corpse who goes around sucking on villager's blood every night, I don't see any reason to fear, be offended by or otherwise avoid the slayers portrayed in the movies. If anything, you should laugh at them, or, if you do see your self as a 'fictional' type of vampire, study them as a training tool...
I don;t believe in vampires. So I think that a vampire slayer in reality should be captured and imprisoned for murder. Fiction on it is fine I guess. Not really my favorite subject.
ok,
since there has been quite some tension in this post i would just like to bring up a point. Ok, so yes you make a point there really are not "true vampires" unless you are a 1000 year old corpse yada yada, but whos to say thats what a real vampire is anyways? Vampires just feed off of another life source, that is the definition of the vampire. I dont think anyone can really go off of what people back then used to think because there is no evidence of an animated dead body. I do live the vampire lifestyle, i am not a living corpse, i have to agree that is quite out there, but then again who is to say that vampires havent evolved off of those people who were living corpses, after all humanity evolved from monkeys, and i dont know about any of you but i dont have a tail, throw poop, or have "fur". Could they have been dead bodies once, yes.But could the vampire gene or whatever been altered somewhere down the line to where vampires evolved and are now living, Absolutley. So to those out there who do not just live the lifestyle but believe they are one, it makes some sense.
I enjoy watching movies and series about vampires, to me the tv/cinema is just entertainment, therefore yes. In fact one of my favorite things in the morning is the fact that Buffy is shown again from the 1st series on the Italian channels, woot!
I don't have any problem with seeing vampires killed akin to the Buffy mechanics.
What about movies like Mars Attacks? Same thing, people being turned into bare green skeletons, lol. Completely illogical, but death, nonetheless.
Vampires seem to die in much of the same manner as humans. I mean, stick a stake through anyone's heart and they won't be appreciating it too much, will they?
I agree with Profane on this one. It doesn't bother me to watch a vampire die anymore than it does to watch a human die. Well, it probably bothers me more to watch a human die, but then I've never claimed to be a vampire so... *shrugs*
It's entertainment. It doesn't mean anything. Enjoy the story line and forget about the slaying of demons. That's what Buffy did, you know? She slayed demons. Joss (Whedon) made it a point to stress that the vampires were not human. He even elected to have them turn to dust so that the viewer wouldn't be as disturbed when watching them be killed.
These things are entertaining, but you have to understand, you being the person, that these things are fiction. I thi9nki the stuff in the media, is what gave the world such a grim view of what a vampire is.
lol I'm not the type to get my panties in a twist over such things when it comes to movies. I mean come on guys...we watch violent movies all the time that involves killing humans and things and we're still fine, who cares really if it involves vampires and other such creatures? If you think about it THAT way. I'm human, i watch humans die, i don't get offended, why should vampires? That sensitive are we? lol
You say " i refuse to read, watch or listen to anything that has to do with slaying "my kind" like Buffy or whatever........."
So does that mean you do watch movies and read books where humans and other creatures are killed or hunted?
Unless you are one of the "undead", I believe "your kind" does include "humans".........
