But not everyone on this site thinks they are vampires. I think that a TRUE vampire would want to keep it as secret as possible anyways. I don't believe for 1 second a real vampire uses this site. Just people like me who love reading stories about them and the occult.
I agree a true vamp would keep themself secert to us humans and we need to respect that
This is so blatantly wrong. It is a rationalization to think they wouldn't come here. If you mean like the fictional type which is all they are then no because they disappear when the book is closed. They are just people who have an extra need if you get to the basics. There are different opinions throughout the community about things. Some want to stay in the shadows and they think that makes them more real...maybe so but its a life choice probably in the region they live. If you are say in Europe and from a wealthy family and such you wouldn't come out and say "hey guys I am a vampire" but say in the US we are very "let it all hang out" and stubborn about who we are and like the Wiccans, gays or anyone else would like to be seen for who we are. It makes no difference because if you are not one you get ridiculed anyway and this more or less is why some will not say. Why should they have to explain to every Tom, Dick or Harry or show some scientific paper to prove anything? This is the crux of the matter but most everyone has a computer so those in the community now communicate and younger people wanted to start a more open heritage but in so doing...it has caused a lot of strife between factions. Others from age old cities at least here stay in the shadows because that is what they are taught to do and feel they are what they are no matter what anyone thinks or says. You cannot rationalize this now in the 21st Century.
If I was a true vampire, I would join a community like this but I would keep my identity secret. I would enjoy the thought that I was one of the very few members, if not the only member, to be truely a vampire and not just a fan or a pretender.
If vampires really do exist, they too may wish to have some sort of contact with the outside world and this sort of network would be ideal. A place where they would be accepted but would retain their annonymity.
I would anyway.
x
Holy crud on stick lol
Im a genuine psychic vampire from the house of Kheprians, we are many on this site.
Im sorry you don’t know the difference in life from the myth of literature taken in 1748 by heinrich to a living being that uses energy.
I don’t like every other living vampire flinch at a cross, that is just church propaganda
Holy water is ok to wash with I love garlic, I do like the night more but also enjoy a nice sunrise. I don’t fly like a bat or drink blood a steak through the heart will kill me like it will kill you….
I agree vampires want to talk to others and make contacts and alliances. Or heck maybe if vampires were here on this VR they might just be getting a kick out of what is being said. Do not take it from me though.
i think a true vamp would blend in yet still stay isolated from what predators they may have, mortals with stakes. so i think the perspective is on how well they adapt to their surroundings would give them a clue to be a hermit or a chameleon so to say.
Don’t get me wrong I don’t believe a undead being is on VR.
I think many here get the wrong idea of a vampire and what they believe one to be. It is a way of life for many here on VR and they are not the bloodsucking undead beings that hollywood has made them out to be. So I believe some of you may be mislead by the title of Vampire.
But I do not think it would be bad for Vampires to band together in an organized fashion...why shouldn't they? All different kinds of religions do as do many organizations throughout the world.
Good point deadlydesire.
We have as noted been kept in the dark for some time by those who communicated through zines, a fear or mind set was the way….. as one knows art imitates life and life imitates art…… we are know getting to be quite a community indeed.
I still hear the call for isolation and secrecy is needed incase of revolt or persecution
That is true...but how can progress be made if you choose to hide due to fear?
I do not think anyone should be isolated.. I believe that you should do what you feel is right and have fun while doing it.
I think true vampires would wanna be careful of who they reveal themselves to, but I don't see why they'd wanna isolate themselves completely. I thought that was the reason for communities like this to be formed in the first place...so that these people can come together and not have to be so afraid of being judged or misunderstood.
i don't think it's bad if we join groups (houses) in real time as long as we are true to ourselves and our own beliefs as some can try to harness controll over you.
For those individuals who state that a vampire would never come to the Rave, unless their identities remained secret need to justify their statements. I mean really now, do we talk about the other minorities out there, such as the homo populous? The wiccans, pagans, satanists? Why is it just the "vampires"?
I am in complete agreeance with ~Mollidew~ on this one. What does society have to fear of those who are "vampiric"? Is it the fact that most within society have no clue really as to what the nature of a "vampire" is? Therefore mock it in exchange?
What if it is the choice of such "vampire" to keep to themselves just because the types of answers associated with a thread such as this tend to pop up without proper justification.
Hell, every Samhain the America's always hold an Endless Nights festival in certian cities, the Lestat Fan Club holds its own in New Orleans and yet society still mocks and discourages the "vampire" unless there is a special occasion which surrounds them. Sounds like a mass hysteria of hypocricy to me...But this is just my opinion.
The Rave is a place of resources and supposed open minds, and yet every which way many many members seem to begrudge the very presence of the surename of this site. If you do not believe in "vampires, the paranormal, magik" or any other arcane situations, then why did you join in the first place, and don't give the old excuse "I came for information...", since obviously this is a bit of a white lie. You were curious and liked what you found. Not nessessarily "vampires", but those "friends" online that you may never meet in life. What exactly are you hiding from?
This may be just another "hi, my name is" site, but with a surname such as "VampireRave", I am pretty sure there is something more associated with the title then meets the eye...Common sense people. Quite bringing sub-cultures down. I am quite sure there are quite a bit of "vampiric" natured individuals that do not answer simply becuase they either choose not to, or just don't care to respond to justify themselves.
Well there's that old saying....birds of a feather.
If it happens expect to be made fun of or worse...your choice I guess.
There's nothing wrong with joining in a group as long as you don't do it just for the sake of joining the group. Also one should beware of some "cult" groups that try to take advantage of and control individuals. The advantage of joining an online group like VR is it's easier to maintain your privacy. Society as a whole is not quite ready to accept living vampires or people that live a vampire lifestyle. Once you tell one person a secret it's no longer a secret, so you have to be careful whom you tell.
Define a true vampire please. Because the understanding I have is this.
Vampire - A fictional creature in the form of a human that needs nourishment from blood to survive.
2 - Any person or creature that feeds off of energy.
So with this being the dictionary definition of a vampire. What is a true vampire? Drinking blood alone does NOT make you a vampire. And if both your parents are human and you have not been turned, you are NOT a vampire.
Honestly..how does one actually get "turned" ?I think its kinda rediculous personally, but I dont discount anything till the lady sings.
We should have sites like this for us. This brings us to one hub where we can gather with those close to our ways... there are many different clans and courts that meet together... some getting along and the ones that don't usually only meet during the mandatory international type
Really …. Were going to turn this post into prove what a vampire is rather than the subject
Let's be frank -- Vr brings together a community of sorts, it is true -- but if for a moment safety became a factor for those it would apply, those members would not make themselves available to that exposure. Poof! And done.
When you expose yourself, even to others with shared beliefs or orintations, you are subject to their radical spontanious behavior, they may decide to out you.. for some personal reason. So it is always good to reflect upon motive, what is your motive for telling someone something so personal about you, and what is their motive for wanting to know that info.. I use the tell them something small but deep and see how the store that, even setting up a leak option if need be, I have had three people fail that little secret test. One on this site..
its good for them to be with ther own kind as well as mortal people
Interesting Dabbler, I do understand your point. I call it toe dipping as I spam a conversation leading and listening to remarks.
However on VR we have a certain element hell bent on denial of the vampire. I find it funny and similar to my kids denial of ghost before they go into the local haunted woods…. They still hold hands n start to see stuff in there minds, I ask them “you told me ghost aren’t real” they reply no that’s what grandma says and I think a ghost is in the bushes lol
I guess the only offensive part is if one mentions any thing about religion and your in hot water yet abuse of vampire belief is wide spread and totally ignorant and offensive.
I know kids are just expressing a view and we must understand it as a reality even if it is immature and ignorant.
Personal my house of vampire is recorded as a religion. So watch out lol
So the isolation or exile serves a purpose to those that have preservation in mind, I mean to keep tabs on the doing of all that know your nature is complicated then it would be good to let them get caught and not be associated with the group?
it takes a hole lot of money to be free smoke and mirrors truth over lies
Not sure im following you Dabbler and bigz4500 … no need for the acid man lol
I'm glad you brought up this topic
First of all i think the true vampires on this site need a place we can go where we can be around just our kind. I mean yea its nice to interact with others, but if we want to protect our name we need to stay close knit and underground.
Isolation is good for the main time but meeting up is also good for the soul to be in group for a time.
To allow the exchange of knowlegde and ideas to the growth of the soul.
Isolating oneself is making possible to regenerate energy to view the world to be an observer to discover.
Without attach one can go further since no restrain is stoping or holding back
Well isolation can drive someone mad. It's not good for anyone to be all alone.
lol well i say the hermit thing is cool but it would be mind numbing after a while, so i vote community
I would keep it a secret from many people, but if I knew there was a real house for vampires I'd join it, just to socialise, why not, I see it the same as you socialise with goths, punks whatever, you still can be an individual and 'in the closet' but some times you just need a clique which you find you have something in common with, to have some company. In fact that's how I am, without being in the vampire life style.
-circles 'we' and labels it "Vague pronoun usage"-
Ummmm.... From the question I think I saw in there: I think that joining something like the 'real world vampires' would be unlike joining VR.
VR is over the internet, and is much more diverse in opinion than I'd fancy the 'real world vampires' to be.
I, for one "value diversity and have an obsession with the humanities and all that they entail." :P
I keep going back to my "hide in plain sight" plan. ;) I see nothing wrong with joining VR if you're a real vampire because who's going to really know it?
I believe that a place like the Rave is a safe haven for Vampires and the people who lead the lifestlye. If the hermits who have secluded themselves have an actual reason to be so far from the world, then that is their own buisness.
I belive we should band together to survive. If we are isolated, then we are as good as dead.
Well, I doubt a large group of vampires would truly happen since they're supposed to be solitary creatures. If there were able to be such a large gathering I doubt it would last and I doubt it would be accepted.
I guess I have to say this once more im talking about life style vamps not the undead book romantic stuff
is this not why we were seperated after the tower of babel
I beilieve if we all stay together we will be better off then seperating ourselves
I do believe the way forward is uniting as a large family and offering acceptance to all our different ways and thoughts of vampirism.
United we stand divided we fall, in the past we have been kept apart by those who brought us information and together under there rules.
Unification is strength
I believe that websites are a good way to have more of a connection to one another. VR and other websites like the Eclipse and Kheperu sites have much knowledge within them, making us better ourselves. Many Vampyres are afraid of showing what they are. Others flaunt it like a new pair of shoes :)
I think that to join together in too large of a group would bring conflict thus making us name a leader which in turn would cause problems. But i think we should start to congregate into small communities. This would bring us closer together.
no, i think that places like these are great so we can all share are views, interests and make new friends that can understand us without being so judgemental.
If some ones intent is to collect resources common to a group. Then A meeting place is likely a good idea, yet to lair together.. one would need to consider ones motive. What advantages are their for staying a hermit?
What Disadvantages? What is ones expectation from a group? Have you considered the motive of others that claim they are vampires as well, and why they want to meet?
Well so far iv found hermit or small groups are insular and very odd. Reality does slip more and more.
Lately I found a group and managed to get in after a lot of clock n dagger stuff, turns out they just move a lot of E n powders….. once again the danger of small and secluded groups.
I always say safety in numbers.. You will be picked off if you stay to yourself.. I guess there are pros and cons to staying alone.. Pro is you dont get noticed as much but cons is if you do get noticed then you have backup.. lol
People are willing to claim anything to get within gawking distance to something, so they can speak with assumed authority on the subject.
If I go to one more bar and find a wash-out that claims to be a Vet Ranger, or Navy Seal.. and then ask him the tenants of the seals, and they reply "I don't talk about that." I am likely to sock the impostor.
I believe we need to stay together and educate people that want to learn.
I think that banding together has its pros and cons. On one hand living in the same place could bring unwanted attention to you and those around you, I think the solitary life would be safer. However you have others like yourself to learn from and take away the lonliness.
Might harsh Dabbler
Keep away from bars lol
You may find the person does have a truth … or is just drunk….. lol
As for the vampire societies, their obscure and often hard to get into.
I always wonder what causes a person to make claims to fit in with others, I mean if I had interest in a society, i would seek out people that had knowledge of that society.. perhaps even be members, and then initiate application. It seems to be the people that go around telling others they are involved in such things, and the wild inventive stories they claim that threaten the perception of such societies.
Besides the ones that advertize with forums or web pages, you will find they seek you not you seek them.
Vampire church is a good place to start… no drunk troops there lol
im just a normal person in some ways. i think vampire would keep there secert to protect their lives
