Bear with me here, I am little rusty.
Has anyone spoken with nature? The wind, the grass, a flower, a toad, or any other living or non-living thing that can't actually speak? I would like to hear some amazing experiences..
If you think this is bizarre, please do not post here.
I don't know if you would call this speaking with the wind or not but I have heard cry's and voices from the past that is carried on the wind. Sometimes I will answer back but if I am not paying attention I will not hear the reply from them.
there is a tree, a big beautiful tree down the road...
i love to go there and sit, it automaticaly so calming i talk to the tree and it listens to my everything, its such a calming wonderful thing.
If you can speak with nature, you are a very gifted person. Not everyone can do this, a lot of people would like to think they can, but to truly be able to do it is something very special.
i love it, its a sort of meditation to me, you open your self up to everything and you tap in to the feelings of the land etc. its amazing
I was walking the couple of blocks to the hospital to have my melodomia removed. I walked through a small field and the birds were in the top of the trees shrieking. The sound that came to my ears were it will be ok over and over. It was ok.
mother earth is alive and yet, the wind if we sit and listen tells tales of the day , insects help out and animals have their noses which in turn help the story. i do listen to it everyday for relaxation, I sit upon my porch and listen to the night and the water fall in my pond and sometimes very faint hints can be heard.
There is a place I like to visit where I can hear the voice of nature. The place is wild and untamed and all it takes to hear it is to simply listen. (There's a lovely picture of that place on my profile, if anyone is interested.)
I've found that the sound of water can drown out the cars and usual city noises enough for me to hear what it has to say as well. Since I live in a city, there are days when the creek running through the park near my house is the only that keeps me sane.
I Used to hug tree's but I never actually thought to speak to them...Although I do speak to my house plants odd I know but I do it all the same.
well theres this lake that i absolutely love to visit when i just need to clear my head and think...and it seems like the water just calms my mind when ever i get close to it. also when i have writers block or just feel like writing some poetry i just sit in the wood behind my house and for some odd reason...no matter how bad my writers block is, lines of poetry just come to me...and i know it might sound weird but i like to think that its natures way of communicating
I can't talk with nature although i would LOVE to be able to! But nature has always had the ability to calm me!
I think that would be cool being able to actually hear nature talk back to you.
when i am deep in meditation i can really focus on nature but i don't know if they speak to me or visa versa.
I love nature and love feeling it. I don't like bugs though or the cold. haha.......
Trees especially seem to convey feelings. It hurts physically to see a tree cut down or when it's being cut down. I can hardly stand it. I just can't watch.
We are a part of nature. If we will sit in nature and be a part of it, then we will gain so much! It heals us. It helps clear the mind.
Jamie,
I'm with you all the way. Nature was here way before people, or any living thing for that matter. People shouldn't lay a finger on it at all, especially abuse it like we do. And we are going to pay the price for all of this sooner or later.

Metaphorically speaking, nature speaks to us every day.
Too many of us are too busy with life to listen.
In fact, nature is speaking to me right now... I'll need a newspaper, please.
Brb....
lol, birra.
Does everyone live in a urban area? Sounds like. We're not separate from nature is the point I want to make.
We're endowed with five senses in order to traverse nature. The pleasure from using those senses is sublime for me. Wind strokes my skin, carries a scent and sound and sometimes a taste, creates a visual in the trees. Not sure it's a two way conversation.
Bloodmother and birra,
What you're talking about is sort of different than what I was talking about. I am talking more about meditation, laying in the grass and absorbing it's energy, speaking with nature.
There is energy absorption for me through all the senses. Not so much calming as most people think of meditation, but focusing (which is how I think of it). Also the energy infusion is exciting rather than calming.
It only works for me in the fall, I try to find a wooded area next to water.

Well, before the toilet joke that is pretty much what I was refering to as well...
...but does it take meditation? Can we not speak with nature and listen to its voice by simply stopping out hectic pace and smelling the flowers, so to speak?
I am not sure if I talk to nature or it talks to me but when I am close to nature and just take the time to sit back and relax and take in the beauty of it...it kind of sings to my soul and I feel that everything will be ok.
I decided to do shrooms once I was in a park and ended up having a conversation with a tree for 3hrs. It was quite the experience... trees know alot.
~Katana~
P.S.
or at least this tree did.
It is said that if you talk to your plants they will grow better and live longer. This is quite true. Try it with a houseplant sometime.
Personally I have never had an experience where I felt like nature was speaking to me, but I am quit certain that it does to speak to us...I am little bit of a hippie when it comes to nature. But I do feel like it is speaking to us and people just aren't listening.

I go into certain spots in nature to think better for myself but never to talk to nature.
I havent personally spoken with nature but I have seen heaps of gardening shows with the host speaking with the plants, I dont know if they answer back or not but it does seem to work for them.
if we sit and listen or meditate, the sounds of nature always seems to talk to us. can we percieve the language probably not if you know cricket maybe. but they still have their own way of communicating.
i dont know if this is what you would call talking to nature..but i live by the river and when im feeling alone or something is troubling me, i just go down to the river bank and sit there, i can stay there for hours.just thinking and soaking in the calmness or the wildness of the water, depending on how it is that day..i always come back in from the waterside relaxed, calm and feeling peace.
yes...one time i ask the wind to stop and it did and then everytime i ask it to blow it would....
I dont know if I would say I speak to nature though often I sit and meditate upon different natural things in order to replenish my energy. I prefer to pull my energy from the earth as opposed to feeding off peoples energies. Now when it comes to animals often I believe that I am able to understand what an animal might be trying to say to me. At least thats how it feels. Some have told me that I must be losing my mind to think that I know what the animals around me might be saying.. others think that I have some gift and it must be the reason why animals love me so much.
I have spoken with the forest on a couple of different occasions. There is a lot of advice in nature if you are open to it. Rivers, tress and rocks will always speak we just need to re-learn how to listen.
Now that I have said that when I have communed with the forests I have heard words persay. More along the energies and just general feelings. It really is difficult to describe the sensation
Ok I use to have this beautiful peace lily it was a rather large one and it use to give me at least 2 lilies a year which isn't the norm. I use to walk past it every day and touch it and say hello to it whether mentally or out loud. And I use to clean the dust from its leaves weekly and talk to it. One day I was sitting meditating and instead of focusing on a candle I focused on the lily instead. And mentally I told it how much joy it gave me to watch it grow and how lovely it was. And the leaves jerked and moved. After wards I would see them move on occasion. There was no breeze present and I was alone in the room so nothing could have made those leaves move. I was over joyed at the time because I fully believe the lily was acknowledging me and thanking me.
Well, I tell you the example of this...
I wet one day as usual love to go to kanheri caves in mountain foothills in my city. and enjoy there lonely in rainy season... its nice site where the nature alive in the monsoon. its in the national park preserved area. The caves were buddhist monastery 1600 years ago.
there on rock top of the cave on the bald mountain foothill which was purely rock very little grass plant was around in on that top. the air was lovely there that time no peepal around. i laid on the ground on the top of the cave.
till that time the butterflies and helicopters were flying away from me...
but within few minutes of i laid to rest in love of nature...
three helicopters once one and once two sat on my chest and one butterfly each sat two times during my rest of hardly 1 hour...
isn't it reply from the nature...
one night i wanted more pain and more sad waves due to i did hurt some one... I was rebel to the nature...
I went against my own nature and getting more and more pain... I was punishing myself. suddenly that night from dry cloth up my head the water drops dropped on my head... this shocked me and again i ignored this and went on getting pain, this time again 2 drops dropped on my forehead laid on he cushion with open eyes now this time i shocked and checked the cloth and cloth were totally dry.. it was 3 am around and in morning i had to go on duty.
I have talked with plants and animals and felt a return of emotion in the case of plants and emotion with intelligence from animals especially my familiar, a gray squirrel.
I admit i talked to a toad once.. Not cuz he could talk back mind you just cuz he was a cute little toad and i told him so.. That and maybe if i talked to him he would turn to a prince .. LOL joke.
I've talked to animals. I never got a verbal answer, of course, but I believe that animals can understand, so they respond in physical ways.... I've never tried to talk to trees and such, but maybe it would work the same way.
to speak with nature is a divine exsperience, to get a respons, (not nessasaraly verbal) is like a blessing from the god and goddess themselves. I love to sit by a wayerfall and listen to sit in that huge fig tree or to walk past all the mighty mangos. you know that natures is all around you and taking care of you.
Thanks, there is actualy a giant gardens open to the public down the road, and after hours we used to sneek in and hold circles because you are surounded by that natural, magical atmosphere. it is to true that nature will always speek back to you
I believe it's highly possible to speak with nature however I believe it's more of an energy transfer than a conversation. I think you both give and take from the energy around you..and some areas lend to a better transfer than others.
I have spoken with nature and it's creatures all my life. I could communicate and understand what nature was saying to me. I could walk within five feet of a deer and be able to hold it's gaze. It knew I wouldn't harm it. The wind and I have spoken constantly over the years. It's really amazing to have a conversation without having to open your mouth. Also, I have been blessed with being able to speak with the fair folk.
Some times when I have a question on my mind I will go for a walk not just to clear my head but to ask nature the question I need answering, on more then one occasion I have had a answer back not some much in words but in sudden feelings and reaction from the animals around me.
yes I know that it sounds odd but it's true.
AngelsMort xxx.
No, I never spoke with nature, or met some one who had such feat accomplished.
I am looking toward my own experience talking with nature in the future, and learning how to benefit from such states, by controlling the energy that is contained in hearing for ones own purpose and idea how and what the shape should be.
In the mean time, I am pretty sure of another very similar fact.
Eat nature, nature eats you back.
It seems we are all eating with nature all the time.
I talk to my plants all the time
They are The Elementals
They protect earth
everyone should talk to plants
trees, animal, bugs etc.
I talk to my cat
and I know she understands me
because I understand her
She hasn't literally spoken
=D
But seriously
plants thrive
and bloom beautifully
when you speak to them.
i listen to nature, they help me predicted whats going to happen. when its going to rain and so fourth. its one big living thing. and where all apart of it all connected
You can feel life around you. You can consume it's "mood." This is how communication occurs cross species.
i have spoken a time or two in that i got connected to nature and feel i become part of it especially when meditating or am in deep thought.
i find to walk around with no shoes in un developed areas a much stronger place to conect with the earth in
I believe that there is many different ways that nature speaks to you. First off you have to understand that I grew up in the real middle of no where. No roads no people no tvs no comps etc... The wind can carry the sound of a voice for 100s of miles out there and sometimes you will think that your mind is playing tricks on you. But its not. The trees can tell you when it is going to rain by turning its leaves over about 30 minutes before it comes. An animal can tell you where food or shelter is just by watching or listening or following it. The birds can tell you that a predator comes near by becoming silent. An a flower, well, thats the best of all. Because it can tell you the world is a complex, loving and beautiful place to be.
I can talk with nature all the time, and my mom can as well. If you pay attention the earth might just tell you what we are causing, or how it is in space. Every animal has a great tale to tell, and there is always a very imporant lesson with it as well.
I find that i can hear and feel the pain of the forest. When I walk through a clear cut area I get such a feeling of anguish and I end up crying. I know when a tree is diseased before it begins to show signs of it...
I don't really have heart to heart conversations with animals or the environment, however I can inspired spirited responses from birds and squirrels. Birds are pretty easy, all you have to do is find their frequency and try to imitate their sounds. They will respond back. I have had many a bird swoop down at me after a time. It is pretty funny. Squirrels on the other hand takes a bit more offensive and aggressive approach, like chasing them or hitting them with an acorn. I saw a squirrel walking across the power line in my back yard. I waited until he made it half way and stopped before I pegged him right in the side with an acorn. That squirrel flipped all the way around the power line twice like a gymnast! He resumed his balance and shot the rest of the way across and up into a tree where he proceeded to really bitch at me for about a half of an hour! I laughed my ass off the entire time. He was furious. That ended up being a one-way conversation.
I dont think its daft at all nature is a part of us after all. I tend to talk to my pets, and curse the weather at times lol but thats about it, sometimes it what you dont say : )...
not sure about 'speaking' per se, but I do have an almost telepathic level of empathy with my kitty.
I found out at a early age that if you do more listening then talking you can hear a lot of things , you just have to know how to listen I hear the tree,s animals and the earth it self. I have always said that every living thing has a life force and if you know how you can feel it as well as hear it.
I have read sorrow on the wind. Hunger in the earth befor a rain. I can read its faint emotions but you have to learn how to listen.
Nature has a way of speaking to us all it is just we have to know how to listen to it in order to know that it is.
I must agree with ladySnowStrixx. It is mostly about listening. To be able to speak with nature you must first be able to hear its original call or its response to you
I talk to nature all the time. i talk to animals, trees, grass, water the wind. Everything. and they do answer back.
I don't really speak to nature.. Not in the sense of asking questions or requesting something.
I prefer to listen instead.
I've been with a friend that practiced "Druidism" and thats an experience that I'll never forget. He asked me to hang out with him for the day and we went hiking up in the Santa Cruz mountains. Well we came to an area where he asked me to keep watch as he did his rituals. I did and he started his rituals, but something felt weird to me, like there were eyes on me wondering what I was doing there. When I turned to look at my friend the trees around him were dancing (swaying back and forth), but there was no wind. Can you explain it ? I can't !
J..it sounds as if you had a very profound experience and one that you will never forget! I am very envious that you was able to experience it.
Every day... and nature can speak, just not in the tongue of man. I speak to it every time I run, with every footfall, every breath, every bed of sweat. Life answers with the wind to coo me, the rain to refresh me, the sun to warm me, the grass to soothe me, and the moon to guide me in the dark.
sadly...i talked to my dog..it told me that it has cancer and it said that i had only about a month to live...
I speak to nature all the time. It dont speak to me in english or any other spoken language it speaks to me through thoughts and feelings. For instance lets say Im creating a staff or other object I desire or need and I need a willow branch I simply lay my hands upon the tree and ask permission to remove the branch. When I recieve a negative feeling I leave it be if I recieve a positive feeling I take the branch and give my thanx to the tree.. On other occasions Ive walked through the wilderness and spoken of my trials and tribulation and the spirits of nature have helped me to find the answers for myself......
I have had the good fortune to grow up on the West Coast of California where the redwood forests stretch from around my home all the way to Washington State.
Nature is my home. every time I walk in it, the world, my worries wash away and become in tune with nature. I would not call it talking but I would call it communicating on a more etheral level. to know the trees in a specific forest and to feel them welcome you at your approach into their domain is truly a amazing, gratifying and humbling expierence
i always talk to the sky and the wind
it is a unique experience for me
whenever i speak to the wind, it whispers back...
but not anything like talking to a person
it is listening...
so is the sky
i do it when i have a bad day or there is something bothering me
it helps
something is listening and something always responds
I talk to my dog and my cat all the time. My cat is my Familiar so she understands and everytime I need her she is there. I do before I pick a flower or anything I ask if I can that may sound dumb, but in my eyes if you don't it seems as though we are stealing from nature.
Nature has much to say, the winds carry a sweet song as the birds of the air.. I find myself one who only listens to all of natures music. So no I cant say I speak, I only listen..
I listen too, but I speak as well. You can learn a lot from nature to tell you the truth.
Almost everything has a voice on mother Earth, it is us that need to listen. their are hints on storms and weather or just relaxation in the natures voice.
i talk to nature all the time the trees birds clouds but niagara falls is the only one i can say has actually talked back and the water pulls at me to jump in it beckens to me like a taunting come and play. sometimes it is very hard to resist. my family dont like me going alone anymore cause they are afraid i will not return
Many years ago...in one area of town where I'd used to live, there were some very tall pine trees that stood on either side of a two lane road. Used to be that going past them, you had a distinct sense of something sentient inspecting you, to tell if you belonged there or not. If you didnt live in that area, you often got the feeling of being watched by Something that was looking at you very suspiciously, like you were being watched and if you dared step out of line.....but if you did live there, the sense was proprietary. Like it was saying, 'Ah, there you are. Go home, we got your back.'
Then the city decided to widen the road and they cut the trees down. By then, I'd moved away, but still had reason to pass through the area periodically. But myself and one other avoided the area as much as we possibly could for the better part of a year.
We could *hear* the trees screaming long after they were gone. It's not something you hear with your ears. It's maybe something that can be heard on a whole other level, or perhaps its something you hear with your soul. Eventually it stopped, but I still dont like that area of town, and as Ive not had cause to go through there in years, avoiding it is a much easier task. Even with the trees no longer screaming, it feels empty. Like something with it's heart torn out.
Wonderful post countessofshadows … life is a gift most let pass by. Jobs, bills, politics, hate and city life it goes on and all distractions from our connection with nature.
If you say I listen to the trees talking to the wind people look at you like your nuts… how can it speak…. Well it’s sure lovely to read post from people who do exactly that … with out knowing the tranquile effect nature has is like a symphony of sound sight and smell .. that is nature talking …. Except for those shrooms… man was that hectic… lol
